Front camera - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

I'm having problems trying to get my ffc to work. When I try to switch it in the camera app it just closes. I can't get it to work with Skype or qik either.

You caught me at a good time for this.
I just restored my primary backup from Clockworkmod, the one I made right after getting root and superuser access.
I tried again the camera, using the stock camera app, both front and rear facing and was able to take pictures without issue.
I switched to video mode and recorded video from both front and rear camera's as well without a problem.
I'm interested in learning more about the stock camera.apk and how it works, so tell me some more about your problem.
Did you S-OFF and root your device?
Have you removed any system apps that came pre-installed?
Have you downloaded any new apps from any marketplace, or sideloaded any onto the device?
Have you rebooted and tried again?
Have you had any other problems with your device?
Any other info you can think of that would help post it up here, and i'll see what I can find out for ya.

I have s-off and rooted it. I flashed the deodexed rom in the development section. I removed almost all bloatware. This problem has been going on even before I used the s-off tool and rooted

Given that information, it's possible that you could have a hardware problem. The fact that you say this was an issue before you did anything to the device suggests that.
I haven't messed with the deodexed rom yet, so i'm not sure what your file system looks like - might be possible that your camera.apk file was corrupted before you rooted it, maybe replacing it with a new copy is something worth looking into.
I'm not sure if the people not running the deodexed version could send you a proper camera.apk file now, any thoughts on this?

[Q] camera firmware flashed improperly. Possible fix?

After about 5-7 seconds of recording in 720p I was getting recording failed problems every time. It wasn't doing that before or at least not very often until recently. So I decided to update the camera firmware. I go to the camera firmware update screen by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* I selected phone to CAM FW Write and I go to update the firmware to version 2.0.3 it downloads up to 225/253 pieces then stops and says the update is a success, then it tells me to reboot. I reboot the phone with the volume down and power button, and I find out the camera firmware isn't installed properly. Now under camera info it is displaying.

I don't remember exactly what it said before but I know it said something different. The rear facing camera is now messed up and displaying green. This is happening with all the different camera apps that I tried on the market. I also did a factory reset, cleared the cache and wiped the data. Still I'm getting the same problem. The camera info is displaying the same thing to so I know for a fact that the factory reset didn't reset everything. Maybe someone here who has the same phone can help me out by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* and going to "Phone/CAM FW Ver Check." Tell me what it says if you don't know how to directly fix the problem. If someone here does know how to fix the problem it would be helpful though. I'm rooted and I'm currently running stock Froyo 2.2.1 if that helps.
Once I figured out how to root and flash with the Infuse, I didn't waste much time at all staying on Froyo. However, I've had video recording issues that ended up being caused by the kernel. I suppose it's possible that it could be an issue with the Froyo Community Kernel (I'm guessing/assuming that's how you rooted). Any particular reason you'd not want to just back up your apps and upgrade to Gingerbread?

I'm rooted and on gingerbread 2.3.6 now actually. It didn't fix the camera, but I'm able to go into the camera firmware settings and it's now showing

Every time I try to flash the firmware now it says "firmware update failed try again." I read somewhere that you have to remove the camera before doing a camera firmware update. I opened the phone up and it doesn't look like the camera can easily be removed and put back in.

I hate to keep harping on the same thing, but I'm not so sure it's a camera firmware issue, and you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you happened to upgrade with Heimdall, and you're not already running one of them, it may be worth trying one of the kernels in this post, for ****s and giggles:

I've never had any issue with the camera, aside from what was caused by a kernel, so aside from that advice, I've nothing else to offer. Good luck.

[Q] Baseband: Unknown

My problem is after installation of 4.2 rom i lost my radio, but only in kitkat. The original kitkat tmobile rom seems to fix that, but then again any other rom is with broken radio. CM11 is ok, but if im not wrong the cm radio is being written on different partition, than the kitkats one.Tried KK_baseband_801.zip and LG801_20A_RADIO.zip.Neither of them fixes the issue.A can live with CM11 but i am really sorry i cant have access to the UHD camera. So i guess you guys are going to tell me to downgrade .Probably that will fix it but i`ve to install Windows 7 again so im not in a hurry.I can try it in virtual box but didn't had success before that and had to temporarily install windows.Ultimately id like to interchange betwen cm11 and lightning v2 rom with the slow motion camera and the other extras. Its just too much bloatware with the tmobile version plus its checking to see if you have tethering plan, which is incompatible with unlimited data.
Thanks
Installed stock after all, since the baseband issue still exist if put something else, but i used smileys ROM then installed "autorec xda" which is capable off flashing twrp in case you need CM.The UHD cam is cool to play with , although i wish to be possible to manual focusing during video recording instead this useless thing to take a picture. What do you think.

I agree on your comment. This should have been considered before the device got manufactured..

[Q] camera hdr

Hello I have nexus 5. Bootloader unlocked. Running CM 12.1
I downloaded the "Google camera" app.
Here are my questions...
I wantvthe exact camera app that comes stock with the phone..can u link me
Also the HDR setting on the app thatvi have dissapered..what could have happened? How can I get it back?
Thank you
As far as I know, the app from stock is Google Camera. And yes, you get HDR+ on the app too.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...-more-lens-blur-quality-setting-apk-download/
That apk mirror link should be the most recent version. If the HDR function doesn't show up on your phone then the ROM is affecting something.
i cant get to that link..its not working
It work for me!
ok so thats what i have.. so now what? my phone is bad? i bought this phone like this.. so its a little over my head on how to do things
If you just bought the phone I think I would flash back the stock google image so you are running completely stock.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
There are a ton of threads around here and on Google about how to flash a factory image. Once you've done that if you're interested then you can learn about rooting and flashing custom roms and stuff.
Buying a phone with a custom rom isn't a great idea if you don't know how to tinker with stuff like that I don't think. It really is easy to flash a factory image. The "hardest" part is making sure you have the drivers installed.
i didnt realize what i was buying when i did.. i just needed it unlocked.. so i have NO idea how to know if i have drivers. i managed to flash gapps on here so that was something. ill look at that sight.
so you defiantly think that is the problem with the google camera? could it be anything else easier for me to fix?

Zero Camera mod screwed up my camera

Hello,
Today I attempted to make the Zero Camera Mod work. I purchased it a while ago but never got it working on Android Nougat. I figured, now that I have Android Oreo, I might give it a try again.
After a few attempts, it completely screwed up my camera.
The app recommends you to flash the zip it creates in TWRP, so I did just that. However, upon flashing, TWRP gave me a bunch of errors, mostly related to being unable to mount /data.
When I booted into the phone again, the entire camera app was gone, couldnt open it by double tapping the power button either.
I figured, let's try to flash the same zip in Magisk. So I did succesfully flash that zip in Magisk, only upon rebooting, it didn't seem to have applied correctly as everything was at default settings. However, I did get my camera app back so that was a relief.
I then started flashing different zips that the Camera Mod app created, trying to get the mod to work. This however, I should not have done. I now can't open the camera app anymore without the app crashing. When I open the camera app, everything is completely streched out, aswell as it's rotated as if I'm holding my phone horizontally even though I'm holding it vertically. Also none of the UI elements are visible. When I remove the module in Magisk, it's back to not having a camera app at all, same goes for removing the Mod in the Zero Camera Mod app.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix my camera again, WITHOUT having to just reflash the firmware?
PS. I should mention that the camera itself is not screwed up, just the camera app. If I take a photo with, lets say snapchat or whatsapp, it works fine.
Yeasterday I had a similar problem. After modding the camera and rebooting the camera icon completely had completely gone away. I know it's a pain in the ass, but best thing you can do is to flash the firmware back to stock again (or at least flash a custom ROM).
I tried the zero camera mod with stock rom with custom kernel (did not work) and with Renovated Ice rom (worked).
In my experience, I could say the new version of Zero CameraMod doesn't work with custom kernels (I had NK), as I could not even restore the stock camera with the zero camera app. I love zero camera mod (also bought it) but I think we must waitn until the developer could fix compativility issues that we're all reporting.
1. Dirty flash the OS.
or
2. Use one of your TWRP backups, and return to pre-camera mod.
Quick, simple, and effective.

OnePlus 7 Pro Bricked After I Tried to Install the OxygenOS Cam on my Custom ROM

My attempt to install the OOS Cam bricked my phone.... so my question is Why did my phone got bricked exactly? I want to know what I did wrong since I really want to use the OOS Camera. So I was trying to get the original stock camera app to work on my device because the other ones looks horrible. I mean I have a kind of flagship device and the photo quality looks like my old cheap Huawei phone.
First I tried with an 3.x.x version of the app installed as an normal application. It works but the quality is still bad.
This is where I got that apk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/apk-oneplus-camera-for-any-a11-custom-rom.4350205/
On Reddit there is a post that said if you replace the Camera.apk on /system/app/Camera with the OnePlus Camera it should work.
The result? It worked and the quality seems better!....but some functions of the app like video or changing the size of the picture crash the app. Now the phone got really hot for some reason. No idea why but anyways I decided to go "creative" and I analyzed the official OxygenOS Rom(This is where I got the OOS Camera apk) to see what files where related to the OnePlus Camera app and then I pushed it through ADB to the respective directories of my phone.
These are the directories that I added with their specific files:/system/priv-app/OnePlusCameraService/
/system/system_ext/priv-app/OnePlusCamera/
/system/system-ext/priv-app/OnePlusGallery/
Then I rebooted the phone expecting to see the OnePlus Camera working in all it's glory!...The phone got stuck in the boot logo.
The phone stays on the boot logo for some seconds, then reboots again but this time in Recovery mode and says this:
Can't load Android System. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you might need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data store in this device.
Click to collapse
I did the factory data reset but it did not work.
Now this might seem relatively easy to fix by using adb right? Well it is the worst moment to have the usb port damaged so until I fix that I have this beautiful OnePlus Paperweight.
The last detail is I actually deleted a folder which contained the .xml config files of the OOS Cam I installed on the second try because I thought it might cause some issues with the last try. Those files were on /system/data/
The phone have the bootloader open because I use a custom ROM and this one is called "/e/" which is based on Lineage OS. I used the wireless ADB function since my usb port is damaged, it jsut works as a charge port.
Again my main motive to this post is to understand "what did I do wrong?". I don't get why Android thinks the data is corrupted. The files are the official ones and as far I know I didn't deleted any important files. I even want to try with a more modern version of the app since I use the 6.4.45. This is the one that came on my phone the moment I opened the box. I want to see if the quality of the pictures got better with a newer one.
If you read this massive dump of text...thank you!
