For some reason my contacts app crashes. It happens when I scroll through the list and crashes at the same contact every time. Been unable to find anything similar on the web.
Any ideas?

Ok so heres the scenario. When I go to my contacts I can see them all, click on any of them no problem etc. But when I go into my groups and try to click on one of my contacts a popup comes us saying complete action using... no matter what i try it doesnt do anything. So I erased my groups but i still have my groups under the gmail on my phone. well random contacts there are doing the same thing. I have also noticed call settings is there twice in the list and when i click the first one down it does nothing. when i click the second one i get the com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly error. I hit force stop and phone goes right back to working. Just seems weird that its random contacts. Also when i had the groups if they didnt have a "g" next to them i would get the same thing.
I have flashed my phone with 2.2 from this site (baseband I897UCJI6) (kernel 2.6.32.9)
Anyone know how to fix this or what is wrong?
good old gmail... accounts and sync on the phone find the sync settings for gmail and set em to what you want synced
I did that and it is only showing me contacts with phone numbers. but what i mean is i had groups on my phone and when going into a contact within the group, if it was one i put in and is not synced with gmail its asking me how to complete action. But if i access that same contact right from contacts and not from the group tab it works just fine.
I just noticed today that gmail is no longer showing up as a choice within my contacts. When I open a contact I have choices for dialing, email, web, and messaging. I used to have a choice for gmail. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or knows how to maybe fix it? I tried clearing gmail data and re-sync, but that didn't work.
Here is a screenshot of what I mean...
Can't say that I have. My phone did something weird the other day though. Was using the same kernel too. Couldn't access the phone app. Kept crashing. I rebooted and it worked fine. Have you tried a reboot and clearing the contacts data and a resync at all?
RESOLVED: Turns out it was GO SMS causing all the problems. The most recent update fixed all my problems. Still have no clue why this would cause my stock messaging app to crash *shrugs*
I have an HTC Evo3D, which had been working fine until this morning. Any app that deals with SMS messages now hangs up and freezes my entire phone, requiring me to take out my battery and restart my phone. I normally use GO SMS, but the default Messenger app crashes as well. Usually the app will load, and I'll see my list of conversations, but if I try to load a conversation or send a new text, everything freezes up and I'm left beating my head against the wall while my phone restarts. I tried to install an SMS backup app, but it froze up as well. Cleared the app data for GOSMS, but no luck.
My phone number is integrated with Google Voice, so I'm willing to erase all my SMS messages if I need to, but I have no idea how to do this without access to a messaging app. Needless to say, this is pretty frustrating
Any protips, Android Gods?
EDIT: I just realized that the GO SMS popup shows up when I get a new text, but if I try to reply or open the conversation--crash, crash, crash. This makes me think there might be something wrong with my SMS archive, but I'm clueless how to fix it.
I thought it would just happen randomly while using my phone, I would go to make a call/check a message and my contacts would be deleted. One by one I could see the names turn to numbers on the call list. Happens a few times a week, have to reimport each time (also imports are glitched, so I get loads of import notifications that don't go away until I restart).
I've now noticed it seems to randomly happen after using Skype. So, is Skype deleting my contacts? Why? How do I fix it (other than removing Skype?).
I've tried googling, but it seems to just be threads asking how to remove skype contacts from android contacts list.

have you tried disabling skype for a start to confirm if its really responsible for this?

Yep. Didn't use Skype since, checked my contacts, all there.
Signed in to skype, checked my contacts and they were all deleted.
So Skype is deleting all my phone contacts when I sign in.
Hey Guys,
So this morning when i started using my phone and wanted to add a contact from whatsapp the phone started lagging, and the said there is no app open this contact.
Finding it weird i tried opened the stock contacts app on my phone, and it was just a white screen and then the app crashed, I tried opening the dialer (phone) that was totally blank none of my previous call logs seen.
Then i tried switching off the phone and restarting, same issue no change, then going back to whatsapp all my contacts vanished and are only seen as the actual phone numbers.
Things ive tried:
I tried clearning cache and data of the contacts App
I dont have G+ installed
Went to google account and checked contacts sync, no issues there
but i'm not able to even add a contact or view them at all.
Please help
