I had no problem pairing my Jawbone Prime bluetooth headset with my old Nokia 5800. All the functions worked perfectly.
Since I moved to HTC Sensation 4G, I noticed these problems:
1. Every time I disconnect & reconnect the BT, the volume goes to minimum. It doesn't keep the previous volume setting.
2. When I play a music/video, the sound goes through phone speaker right away. I couldn't find the setting to make it goes to my BT instead.
3. The voice dial feature from BT is no longer available. Is it because now they use Google voice search? This is inconvenient because before I can activate voice dial just by holding my Jawbone's volume button. Now I have to get my phone and unlock screen, input security code, press voice search..etc.
Is anyone having similar problems or other problems?
If yes, is there a way to fix these?
Thank you,

I have a Jawbone 2 so it's not quite the same I guess but I'll try to answer some of it...
1) I don't have this problem. keeps my volume setting.
2) same issue. I also have this problem with turn by turn navigation. it goes to my speaker on the phone even though I have the bluetooth setup.
I've read other people with different headsets working fine, though in nav, it cuts off first part of the direction... so I guess it's a blessing in disguise?
anyway, I'm beginning to think it's a Jawbone issue?
3) there is a work around this...
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/HTC-SENSATION-4G/Bluetooh-Voice-Dialing-FIX/m-p/894213#M4273
only thing is you need to find the apk for choice dialer as it's not available for our phone on the market...
kind of a pain but it works.
anyway, hope that helps you out a little.

As the issue no.1, finally I got it fixed by disconnecting the Jawbone (unpair from phone) and pair it back. Apparently that solve the volume issue.
For No.2, I called Jawbone and they don't know what to do either. I'm going to try another BT from Jabra and see if the problem persist. If not that means something is wrong with Jawbone.
Thanks for the info for issue no.3
Yes, it seems I need to find out where that apk for Choice Dialer. It's not in android market yet.

I just checked the specs of the jawbone prime at jawbones website. You need to have A2DP ( Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) feature on your earpiece in order to listen to music/tv/gps navigation (anything other than phone calls), and the prime does not have that feature. If you were getting media through your nokia wiith the prime then consider yourself lucky lol, you shouldn't have been able to. Just make sure your next BT has A2DP and you're all set. They do make apps that will send media through youre BT but the sound quality is pretty poor IMO. Search Bluetooth in the market if you want to try one.

"The problem is that sometimes we are already listening to audio in the device's speakers, and then suddenly we want to switch the output to our a2dp headsets - this is sometimes problematic, as the First audio driver changes from "Audio Output" to "Bluetooth Adv. Audio Output" and the applications currently playing audio need to be restarted.
For such issues, I have provided a tool, as freeware, that will install as a today plugin and offer the user the possibility of instantly switching the audio between Device Speaker and A2DP Stereo Headset.
It is designed for WM6.0, Microsoft Bluetooth stack, please download it and let me know how it works for you. There are some more modifications that will be done, so this is only Beta-1 "

Thanks hendrixus,
I've just uploaded version 1.0.rc-1 of the A2DP plugin. It can be downloaded and used as freeware (0 cost) from http://teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware , or find it below attached to this message, including a short usage guide.
New in this release (as many users requested):
-bluetooth link signal indicator (it actually shows the signal strength of the device-headset connection)
-3 modes for headset: OK, Off, Err
-settings panel added
-Handle Bluetooth option
-Execute File after start option
-applet added in start->settings->system to start settings
-a2dp.exe included in the package, that with parameters: a2dp.exe -bluetooth: on|off -a2dp: on|off or a2dp.exe -bluetooth:1|0 -a2dp:1|0
thank you too, radhoo for keeping us updated
@ radhoo:
The play button doesn't work on my MIO A700. I have checked the "Handle Bluetooth" option and when I press the play button a message appairs and says: "First pair blabla ... "
Do you have a solution for me??

You first have to pair the headset before you can play anything. That's why the play button isn't working.

There was a little problem in identifying an A2DP device among other BT devices.
The previous post is updated with the new RC-2 version. Please re-download the CABs and reinstall this new version.
Those of you who had problems before will have them fixed with this release.
EDIT: it's too hard to upload new versions in each post, download the CABs from here:

Radhoo, thanks again for the update.
Need to start BT manually before pushing Start/Play
@radhoo,
Thanks for this tool, been using it since you released previous version here, works great and saves having to go into Bluetooth>Settings>Devices (although I use a shortcut) every time to connect A2DP properly.
v1.0 RC-2 is cool, now I don't have to start up the player after connecting my headphones but the Handle Bluetooth Automatically option doesn't appear to be working how it is mean to.
After installing RC-2 I re-paired the headphones but when BT is turned off the A2DP device shows Off. This means pushing Start/Play only turns on BT and have to push Start/Play again to connect the device. Is this how it is meant to work?
I would have thought once the device is paired and in the BT>Settings>Devices list the A2DP status would remain On.
Keep up the good work, be cool to be able to turn on BT, pair device and start palyer with one touch!
However my Artemis needs to find to it a A2DP DEVICEs can, like that it somewhat longer would be beautiful to examine either whether A2DP was successful, or however a WAIT COMMAND with x seconds to insert.
Thx
Menkul
The teksoft website appears to have been replaced (hijacked?), none of the links are working.
I'm really keen to test out this app as I've been looking everywhere for just this, is there any chance someone could post up the .cab file? The zip file posted by radhoo only include a PDF instruction file, not the actual app itself.
Much appreciated

Thanks for that but it's not really what I'm after. That product offers routing for the system audio to mono bluetooth headsets that don't support a2dp.
My phone and headset support stereo a2dp, and I've got the audio working well so I can listen to music from my bluetooth headset. All I was after was a small program (a2dp toggle) that gives me a shortcut on the today screen so i can easily switch a2dp onto wireless stereo, without going through the menu system everytime I connect.
A2DP Toggle appeared to do exactly that, but now I just can't find it anywhere as the links to teksoftco.com aren't working.

Thanks very much mate, that's fantastic, just what I was looking for.
this plugin is killing my battery. i only used it for testing when i originally installed it and i never kept the plugin on my today screen. last night i was playing with it and decide to leave the plugin on the today screen. i woke up today and 50% of my battery was drained. i simply charged it up again tested it and noticed 6% drain in 1hr. disabled the plugin and after 1 hr i was still at 100%. i did this twice with the same results. its a shame cause it works flawlessly.
I have also problems with battery drain but only about 1% per hour in suspend. What seems to help is to turn bluetooth off and on. Anyway that would kill the purpose of this great app: to simplify using bluetooth.
I'm also having a battery drain problem on my Tytn-II
I also noticed something else that is perhaps a bug. I have two bluetooth devices that support the A2DP Wireless Stereo service. When I use A2DPConnect, it does properly connect to my headphones and stream audio however on the today screen plug-in it shows that there is no signal and that the stereo headphones are off. I wonder if this is related to the fact that I have two A2DP devices paired with my Tytn-II?
This is the kinda &@#^%$# that makes me want to go back to the simplest freaking phone I can find. I really can't stand this [email protected]#$!!!
I haven't touched my phone all night. Using the HTC Home plugin, as I always do, I had the setting on "Ringtone: Ring-Standard". The only time I change it from this setting is at work, I set it to vibrate, and before I go to bed, I set it to silent. In the morning, I set it back to vibrate and go to work and repeat the cycle.
The phone sat on the kitchen counter all evening while I made dinner. I didn't TOUCH the volume setting, yet I still missed an important phone call because the ringer inexplicably set itself to silent. Not the silent setting, mind you... but just the ringer itself.
WHY!!?????

I've had this problem too a few times.
Perhaps I should look into it a bit more, because missing phone calls isn't exactly what I want...
Perhaps it has something to do with the scroll-wheel. Or perhaps when a button is pressed, it mutes the sound.
I'll post my findings when I know what causes this.
Well, it's happened three times now. I just check every few hours now. Can't find a reason why it might be happening, but in defense of WM6 fancy new phones, it's only happened since switching to the Dutty #7.
I'll keep my eyes open. Maybe we'll figure it out.
I've had this as well. I get it about once every 5 times I switch from vibrate to non-vibrate using a profile switcher.
It is quite annoying. I find myself checking the volume everytime I switch profiles back to making sound.
I had it on the stock ROM as well.
Same problem here too!!
No solution here but another "me too". I use the Comm Manager ("Kaiser.CommManager.10Button.3GCAB.cab") to switch between Vibrate and Ring and every once in a while I get this same behavior.
AT&T Tilt
Dutty's No. 7b
Hope we can find a fix for this...
-Brett
I have this problem too from time to time. I have a HTC Tytn II and am still on the stock ROM. It's probably a bug in the HTC Home audio profile app, because I do use it to switch between vibrate and normal modes.
I've also had exactly the same problem. I can't replicate it 100%, at the moment it does seem to be random, but I have noticed it particularly when changing from vibrate to normal ring using the HTC today screen plugin. I've missed a couple of calls before I got wise to this. I check the volume icon at the top now but agree it's a pain.

I will confirm that this seems to be related to running HTC Home. I removed it a few weeks ago and have been using SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Time for my home screen plugins.
I use the comm manager to now switch from Vibrate to Ringer and have not had this issue yet.
Edit - I use the 6 button comm manager and Custel 2.1 rom.
Now that you mention it, I've been using a profiles program too recently and have not experienced the dropdown in volume anymore.
We're still not sure, but perhaps you're pointing in the right direction...
I had this problem with original ROM. But not with dutty's roms.
This is also happening to me with botm Dutty's 3/08 and 3/27 roms.
The other day I was just sitting and looking at my phone and the ringer icon changed to silent right in front of me!
I'm going to try using the comm manager to change rings, and see if it happens again.
I'm using Q-Mobile 1.2 now. It doesn't happen any more.
I only had the problem with Dutty ROMs....
I still got the HTC initial ROM and I also experience this problem...
Mine does the same
I have the same problem. I use HTC home to set the profile to vibrate. I do use a bluetooth headset and I've noticed many times after hanging up that the profile has changed to silent (both volumes are at 0).
Ok, i had this problem with Dutty's Rom, but since i start using wisbar and its profile swithing feature, i've never seen it again...
It seems that this relates with the problem of during calls the other end user complains for low volume. It seems that the mic automatically lowers sound and most probably is a hardware problem. I have sent mine for a mic replacement. I will inform you as soon as i get it back.
I'm able to reproduce the problem with Dutty's WM6.1 and Bluetooth hands-free. Having mobile set to vibrate (using HTC Home) I connect the hands-free (Parrot) and make a phone call. After hanging up the mobile switches to ringing with zero volume.
Any connection to BTAudioToggle?
I also have problems when using bluetooth, it seems like sometimes your problem happens to mine and others it doesn't.
I have had this problem for a long time using dutty's rom also and bt headset. I think it has something to do with voice command maybe i am not sure. I have HTC home disabled i just use spb pocket plus and spb mobile shell. And i also sometimes loose sound completely due to this switching and i have to soft reset my phone to get it back. I have tried different radios but the same happens.
On my HTC P3300 Artemis I had this great software.
OldSAP Speakerphone.
* Auto answer function
* Auto speakerphone to handsfree
I tried it on my MDA V aka Diamond2 but it does not work.
When recieving a cal, or calling somebody, the speakerphone does not switch to handsfree mode automaticly.
Does anybody knows the answer on this?
Go to "Settings" -> Personal -> Phone -> more
There you can switch on "auto receive" or whatever it's called on a WWE Rom^^ Don't know if the speaker is turned on too... never tested it

Only, when trying it on my new Diamond2 device, this software did not work anymore, even when reading the instructions you mentioned.
After installing the software all seems fine.
When incomming voice message comes the speaker is set to handsfree.
BUT, when sliding the slider to answer call position the speaker is set to off, automaticlly
Maybee OldSAP has an answer?

Seems these people have already, partially, the sollution.
But I do not need all these fancy things.
Only the selection to turn the speakerphone, automaticly, ON or OFF during in or outgoing calls is enough.
umm, you do know that you just need to press the receiver button during the call to put it on speakerphone, don't you?

Luckely I'm not that Stupid.
The thing is that during driving in a car I would like the phone, like OldSap already had, to answer automaticly and in speaker mode so you do NOT have to push the recieve button for app. 2 seconds.
Try this small piece of software I wrote, it works fine on my Topaz. It only answers calls though and puts them on speakerphone. Start "Answer4u" from programs folder, then wait for a call or click on "Switch off" Button to temporarily disable auto-answering the calls..
Don't say anything about the UI, I wrote this in a few minutes
Let me know...

Just tried it and the program now work partially.
* When I call someone the speaker function works perfect.
* When I recieve a phonecall the speaker is switch one for about 0.5 seconds and then automaticly is switched off again.
If this last bug can be solved a lot of people will be very happy, for sure I will be.!!!!
same for me.
TinTin app works perfectly, the only thing I miss is the option to set the delay before the call is answered. Now the call is answeed immediately and you have no chance to notice whoi is the caller. Otherwise it would be just perfect.
Hi,
Just tried using my Sony BT-DR50 to chat to a friend on Google Talk, however audio is just being routed through the speakers instead of my headphones... the music player however works as expected and comes through the headphones.
Anyone able to replicate this?
Thanks
Yeah. 18th century technology. Bluetooth microphone isn't recognized on TF. I tried a voice recorder or two. I tried with skype (I hear on bluetooth headset but the bloody TF subaquatic microphone is used!).
Works fine with my jabra bt3030, I even get a bluetooth button in Gtalk to switch between BT and speakers.
You need to activate the handsfree profile to use the mic.

Yes that's what I mean. It would seem you have a regular mono headset, I get two choices, HQ Audio and Headset...
P.S. Skype wont work with the headset profile, only headphones.

No I have two bluetooth headphones. One mono and one stereo. I showed you the mono. On stereo I have two options and both are "yes".
Finally I found somebody on talk and it seems to work cause he hears me correctly, even if I get far from TF.
On Skype, bluetooth microphone doesn't seem to work. I hear in the headphones but it is the internal microphone that works.

It's really interesting because it means TF is able to use Bluetooth microphone, but a lot of external programs are unable (like the integrates recorder or Skype).
Skype is playing a real bad game with Android as their program is really bad. Awful microphone sound. No video...
I'll try to convince my friends to drop it and use Gtalk.
I'm searching for a recorder app that is able to recognize bluetooth microphone. Does somebody know about it?
Good to know; I did Gtalk call a buddy of mine while wearing Bluetooth AD2P headphones that I really only bother with music. It was only a quick instance and I could *hear* via the heaphones but it seemed to only use the tablet's mic. Other party couldn't hear me until I brought the tablet closer. We didn't linger on the call to test any thing but I'll look later to see what settings I can modify.

You have an option on google talk to connect bluetooth microphone. mine connects it directly, but I didn't try it while listenning music. I'll try it and tell you.

Got some answers :
Stereo Bluetooth headphones are used for that expirience
I tried to listen to music and then chat with gtalk. Music cuts instantly and turns back at the end of the chat. (everything allright)
I tried to listen to tunein radio (market app) and then chat, and radio didn't cut off. I had to turn it off manually. the only thing that happenned is that the sound of the radio passed first by the speakers and went back to Bluetooth headphones with raw quality. Cutting the chat gave me back the radio with good audio quality.
I don't know what conclusions we can give to all of that.
First off, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate.. I've searched as hard as I can but I don't see any other threads that fit my issue.
My stock, unrooted Google Pixel (from the Play Store, pre-ordered) is currently experiencing a meltdown after I created a new profile on the phone for a 6 year old girl to play games on it. I've factory wiped the phone from the Backup & Reset menu but the issue persisted through a reset. I've been looking at the possibility of rooting the phone and flashing a stock image to see if that helps, but I'm asking for help first to see if anyone has any ideas. The phone has been great for me, I've had no camera flares, no lag or overheating issues, no sound issues. It's been a great phone which is why I've tried to avoid rooting it. The phone still seems to be in perfect working order, but no sound from headphone jack, earphone, or any other, and no videos will play.
Symptoms:
-Can't play music. Spotify loads and acts like it's playing but no sound comes out (headphones and speakers both)
-Can't play videos: Youtube error:There was a problem while playing, Facebook videos freeze, downloaded MP4's in the stock Photo's app also freeze. GIF's will play, but no videos
-Can't make phone calls, speaker or otherwise. It won't play any sounds at all. The phone app seems to work, but no sound.
-Alarms are muted, although they still cause vibrations if I set it in my alarm app
-Basically: no sound, no videos. Period.

What works:
Everything else. Texting, data, games, camera, etc. Bluetooth, Wifi, and NFC all seem to work as well.
Cause:
I created a second profile secured by a six year old child's fingerprint so she could use my phone freely. I installed 3 games, as well as Youtube Kids, and nothing else. When she started the games, no sound would play. I switched back to my main profile and realized I had left it in Do Not Disturb mode which somehow carried over to the child's profile, even though do not disturb wasn't on in the child's profile. I went to sleep that night, and woke up to find my phone vibrating instead of a ringtone for my alarm. Then it got stuck in a bootloop for a bit when I turned the alarm off. It eventually stopped restarting and the above symptoms have been permanent for the last day and a half.
I'm having the same issue but I think it's due to the Android 7.1.2 update that came today.

Good to know I'm not the only one then. I've been running the update for over a week with no issues though, so I still wonder why it happened out if the blue like that.
Just wanted to post an update to this to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.
I got a security update today of about 64mb. When it installed and restarted my phone, sound magically came back. YouTube videos started working as well. But for some reason Snapchat videos wouldn't record sound. So I rebooted my phone and now it's broken again.. No sound, no videos.
Any ideas??
Stock Pixel, straight from Google (pre-ordered), on Sprint
If this was happening to me, I would unlock the bootloader and flash a factory image.
while these may seem like a software issue due to erratic behavior, its a known hardware issue. contact google or your carrier for a replacement depending on where you got your phone from.

I just read about this too. I have the intermittent issue as well. Most of the time, no sound when recording video from my phone or in phone calls. With bluetooth headset or wired to android auto in my car, usually works.
Did anyone find a fix? I am just now experiencing the sames issues as op. Cannot record video, cannot hear the other person on calls, spotify seems to work but no audio comes out from my phone...
