[Q] Bluetooth headphones and Google Talk - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just tried using my Sony BT-DR50 to chat to a friend on Google Talk, however audio is just being routed through the speakers instead of my headphones... the music player however works as expected and comes through the headphones.
Anyone able to replicate this?
Thanks

Yeah. 18th century technology. Bluetooth microphone isn't recognized on TF. I tried a voice recorder or two. I tried with skype (I hear on bluetooth headset but the bloody TF subaquatic microphone is used!).

Works fine with my jabra bt3030, I even get a bluetooth button in Gtalk to switch between BT and speakers.
You need to activate the handsfree profile to use the mic.

Yes that's what I mean. It would seem you have a regular mono headset, I get two choices, HQ Audio and Headset...
P.S. Skype wont work with the headset profile, only headphones.

No I have two bluetooth headphones. One mono and one stereo. I showed you the mono. On stereo I have two options and both are "yes".
Finally I found somebody on talk and it seems to work cause he hears me correctly, even if I get far from TF.
On Skype, bluetooth microphone doesn't seem to work. I hear in the headphones but it is the internal microphone that works.

It's really interesting because it means TF is able to use Bluetooth microphone, but a lot of external programs are unable (like the integrates recorder or Skype).
Skype is playing a real bad game with Android as their program is really bad. Awful microphone sound. No video...
I'll try to convince my friends to drop it and use Gtalk.
I'm searching for a recorder app that is able to recognize bluetooth microphone. Does somebody know about it?

Good to know; I did Gtalk call a buddy of mine while wearing Bluetooth AD2P headphones that I really only bother with music. It was only a quick instance and I could *hear* via the heaphones but it seemed to only use the tablet's mic. Other party couldn't hear me until I brought the tablet closer. We didn't linger on the call to test any thing but I'll look later to see what settings I can modify.

You have an option on google talk to connect bluetooth microphone. mine connects it directly, but I didn't try it while listenning music. I'll try it and tell you.
Gtalk is the only application I found on TF that is able to use Bluetooth microphone

Got some answers :
Stereo Bluetooth headphones are used for that expirience
I tried to listen to music and then chat with gtalk. Music cuts instantly and turns back at the end of the chat. (everything allright)
I tried to listen to tunein radio (market app) and then chat, and radio didn't cut off. I had to turn it off manually. the only thing that happenned is that the sound of the radio passed first by the speakers and went back to Bluetooth headphones with raw quality. Cutting the chat gave me back the radio with good audio quality.
I don't know what conclusions we can give to all of that.

I guess it does, same connector. Give it a try.
Is working perfectly with tf3d and fm receiver
Can you use your own headphones with this?
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=150195
if you check the description and a user comment says you can 3.5 mm
Yes you can!
Key Features
- The E100 includes 3.5mm stereo earphones or use your own!
Nice to know that this is working, can anyone post some real pics, so I can get an impression of the real size and colour!
who can i buy the RC E100 (will this be sold separately as an accessory)?!
Yes you can, check HTC homepage or use google.
Can anyone try if this works with the diamond as well? Especially the buttons on the control device.
Tested and approved.
I bought it for my Trinity and now it works perfectly for my diamond.
Works as an antenna for the FM. All controls working nativly with the new TouchFlo3D.
perfectly, thank you for your confirmation!

I read somewhere in the net, that you might have problems with some of the HTC devices. Can you please confirm, that:
a) with this remote attached, the screen turns off (save battery time)
- I read, this is not the case
b) the screen will always turn on as soon you press any key (even in you pocket)
c) works perfectly with the Diamond
Thanks in advance
RC E100 plugged without any driver or software added - screen turned off
- by pressing Play, it plays the music and the screen stays turned off
- by pressing next-previous, it changes the song and the screen stays turned off
- by controlling the volume (buttons at the bottom) it changes Volume and the screen stays turned off
the only buttons that turns on the screen are the one for phone calls.
Tested right now with my Diamond
How about the sound quality, is it better than the ones that come in the box?
I had a P1i before, and I planning to buy the RC E100 and use the intra speakers from the hpm-75:
Has anyone tried the same? Do you think I'll get the same sound quality as my SE phone, which was much better?
I plugged a basic Sony headset. I didn't try yet the one in the box.
Peio64 ? With a name like that, you are from Euskadi ?
(edited sry double post)
Haha yes, I probably have the only diamond in the region
So you use your sony headset with an adaptor, can you compare with the crappy htc one?
Other question: I found the volume really too loud, I usually listen to music at work, and even with 1 volume bar (hard to set with the finger by the way), I think it's too strong. Does the minimal volume change with other handsets?

Can you please concretize what you mean by "crappy htc"? I have a SE and the same headset as Peio64. And. I am quite happy with it. Is the htc worse?
When I say "crappy" I mean
- no bass
- bad "isolation" (everyone around can hear what you're listening)
It's about the headset that comes in the box, don't know about the RC E100, anyway I will use the RCE100 remote with the HPM-75 intras, the lenght of the wire will be perfect
Has anyone has tried the RC E100 with a hermes?
What other devices (besides the Tytyn II and Diamond) can confirm?
Does anyone know the difference between the two (RC E100 and RC W100)?
I tried the RC W100 with my hermes ( with a few different ROMs) with no luck...
Is it true you can only control audio manager and WMP?
Can anyone look over the "driver cab" to see if other players might be possible?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Guys,
Can someone, anyone, please confirm the difference between using the supplied headphones that come with the HRC diamond which are
a) bass-less (and I already know about the Audio booster bug - I mean they still dont have much bass when you have worked around that bug)
b) not isolated well (as pointed out above)
and compare with using a decent set of 3.5mm headphones that are connected with the RC E100 or with one of those USB to 3.5mm adapters that you can get from ebay.
Does better headphones = lots more bass? The supplied headphones just don't seem to push out much but I wonder how much of a role the actual diamond plays in this....
Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm this.

Hi all,
I have search Desire topic with "bluetooth" word but nothing useful got. Anyone using bluetooh device like below so that we can use quality headphones with DHD?
Basicly I am looking for and any recommendations are appreciated

- Track/radio next/previous functionality.
- Charge status (optional)
- Internal mic (so that we can use bluetooh device as a mic source)

What do you think?

SonyEricsson MW600...
works great, music control, great sound and fm included.... only thing that is bad is the volume control (touch sensitive control that is quite annoying)
MW600 works great, but functionality from the forward/backward buttons is buggy
Yes, for MW600, that touch sensitive volume control looks a little crappy.
@utor, could you please explain why forward/backward is buggy? It does not command on something or what?
back/forward works great here... could be which player is used.... I'm using winamp and/or poweramp....
Also one thing missing is the track name and the caller name on the display... but I think that is a limitation on the android BT stack.
Mw600 works great, volume control looks annoying in the start but u get use to it.
Btw does some one got rewind/forward working on it?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
wow, looks like Mw600 rulez here lol.
Is there mic on the Mw600 so that we can answer calls or do we need to use mic integrated headphones instead?
Yeah it has a mic. The mw600 is pretty good, my only complain is the volume thing too. Battery life could be a little better too i suppose, but its not really an issue ^^
Tx for the reply.
May I ask for MW600 If there are any "in memory" station channels (i.e. like in car audio systems) for radio or we can only listen by fw/rw functions?

Actually, its the htc music player thats buggy, it wont work with that player - but as other has stated it works great with poweramp/winamp/subsonic and others
Another (if not late) vote for MW600.
does this work with google listen?
Does the mw600 pause / play / etc with google listen
Have had issues with other headsets
Thanks
I've heard good things about the Jabra BT3030
I'm using a Sony MW600 headset with my DHD, it is working perfectly for calls and music (using winamp). It is buggy with the stock music app though.

I have the Jabra BT3030 and it works fine with PowerAmp AND the Stock Music player as well as calls. I also have the Wunder Radio App and that's spot on too.
The earphones you get with the Jabra are crap, but just put you own ones in, at the moment I have Bose but I'm switching to the Klipsch S4's as the earbuds are much better.
Thanks guys for mention Jabra BT3030. I checked out for Jabra BT3030 on the web, watched some video reviews and common cons for Jabra BT3030 is call quality.
Apart from that my personal choice would not be Jabra BT3030 after MW600 in terms of build design also. Jabra is looking same as that soldier thing they put on around their necks

Beggars can't be choosers! I can't comment on call quality, and I agree that the design is somewhat tacky but the thing is that you can hide it behind your shirt - so unless you habitually do bluetooth calling whilst topless, then it would actually be quite a stealth solution - and certainly not as visible as the SonyEricsson (which I think looks quite cheap).
Have a look for some of the iTech clip headsets. They're pretty subtle, though cheap - so I don't know about battery life/build quality/compatibility.

I've just tried it, and although the sound comes through, play/pause seems to control Poweramp instead so you just get music over your podcast.
I'm otherwise very pleased with the mw600 though - for the money it's a really nice piece of kit.

Audio out

If i use the 3.5mm headphone breakout cable with headphones, i hear music fine, if i plug a 3.5mm lead that goes to my stereo, nothing is output, if i play with the 3.5mm jack, i can maybe hear music for a second before the music app closes and again no music is output except internal speaker.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
its something to do with the output resisitance. we need to change it. there was some development/research into this a while back.

The answers are a bit scattered across several threads, but if you have a look at Post #7 and onwards in this one is a good start. There are also some photos of made up leads showing how to address.
In essence Oly's comment is correct, but the nub of the issue comes down to the fact that the uUSB port is not just a hard-wired audio output in the manner of a traditional 3.5mm socket. The same contacts are used for multiple functions depending on the resistance presented to the sense contact. That causes the device to change mode and then channel data or audio or go into charging mode, etc.
I can't instantly give you all the links, but if you search on the TG forum for 'audio' and my username, you will find several further references. One in particular on Brighthand gives details about connecting an external hard drive successfully.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Kevin
Audio Output to amplifier
Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936562&highlight=audio+output
and here, as kevinpwhite say, was the first thread facing this problem
http://www.modaco.com/content/toshiba-tg01-tg01-modaco-com/298887/headphone-amplified-sound-output/
Below, my own experience "tuning" a couple of PHILIPS portable amplified speakers to use with TG01 soldering a couple of 470 Ohm resistors:
1)between input left cable and ground cable
2)between input right cable and ground cable as well.
This doesn't affect to the sound at all and you can use any other sound source without problems.

There are a lot for Nokia and Iphone but don't know if they are compatible.
Anyone got any idea?
thx!
to my knowledge, i think you're out of luck. but i know there are some apps that can work like headset controls. eg. im using an earphone that's made for iOS, although i can't use the volume up and volume down button, i can customise the middle button using the headset control app. All the best!
cheers mate!

i use that thing with some quality in ear phones from shure Works perfectly.
I use PlayerPro for music. So 1 click is play/pause music or take/end call. 2 clicks is next song, 3 clicks is last song. For volume i can use the hard buttons on the dhd And of course it has a microphone so you can use it as a headset. Oh and its quite affordable!

Forgot to mention I am using CM7 rom and with Poweramp player. I've not check if it works with sense.

no offense but it's hard to believe that it's a good quality product for that price and i'm not talking about the earphones just the control !
of course you don't have to believe me. It was just my opinion and the cable did work brilliantly for me, it serves the purpose- take calls, pause, fast and back forwards etc. As for the extra earphone , of course it was no match compares to the Shure 530, but it's fantasic considering it is free. Shure 530 it's about £350 pounds, will you believe now that I think it's good? Or you still don't think it is expensive enough to be of good quality? Don't judge a product by it's price.

[Q] Jawbone Prime & Sensation 4G problems

I had no problem pairing my Jawbone Prime bluetooth headset with my old Nokia 5800. All the functions worked perfectly.
Since I moved to HTC Sensation 4G, I noticed these problems:
1. Every time I disconnect & reconnect the BT, the volume goes to minimum. It doesn't keep the previous volume setting.
2. When I play a music/video, the sound goes through phone speaker right away. I couldn't find the setting to make it goes to my BT instead.
3. The voice dial feature from BT is no longer available. Is it because now they use Google voice search? This is inconvenient because before I can activate voice dial just by holding my Jawbone's volume button. Now I have to get my phone and unlock screen, input security code, press voice search..etc.
Is anyone having similar problems or other problems?
If yes, is there a way to fix these?
Thank you,

I have a Jawbone 2 so it's not quite the same I guess but I'll try to answer some of it...
1) I don't have this problem. keeps my volume setting.
2) same issue. I also have this problem with turn by turn navigation. it goes to my speaker on the phone even though I have the bluetooth setup.
I've read other people with different headsets working fine, though in nav, it cuts off first part of the direction... so I guess it's a blessing in disguise?
anyway, I'm beginning to think it's a Jawbone issue?
3) there is a work around this...
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/HTC-SENSATION-4G/Bluetooh-Voice-Dialing-FIX/m-p/894213#M4273
only thing is you need to find the apk for choice dialer as it's not available for our phone on the market...
kind of a pain but it works.
anyway, hope that helps you out a little.

As the issue no.1, finally I got it fixed by disconnecting the Jawbone (unpair from phone) and pair it back. Apparently that solve the volume issue.
For No.2, I called Jawbone and they don't know what to do either. I'm going to try another BT from Jabra and see if the problem persist. If not that means something is wrong with Jawbone.
Thanks for the info for issue no.3
Yes, it seems I need to find out where that apk for Choice Dialer. It's not in android market yet.

I had no problem pairing my Jawbone Prime bluetooth headset with my old Nokia 5800. All the functions worked perfectly.
2. When I play a music/video, the sound goes through phone speaker right away. I couldn't find the setting to make it goes to my BT instead.
Thank you,

I just checked the specs of the jawbone prime at jawbones website. You need to have A2DP ( Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) feature on your earpiece in order to listen to music/tv/gps navigation (anything other than phone calls), and the prime does not have that feature. If you were getting media through your nokia wiith the prime then consider yourself lucky lol, you shouldn't have been able to. Just make sure your next BT has A2DP and you're all set. They do make apps that will send media through youre BT but the sound quality is pretty poor IMO. Search Bluetooth in the market if you want to try one.
