Recomend me a good keyboard app - T-Mobile LG G2x

Recommended me a good keyboard app...
Man I hate the g2x android keyboard. I need KB setup I can custumize myself or better yet already set up to my specs. Basically I want a " return " function in ALL THE setups. I hate that when I go to text there's no return key, also an @ in all the layouts as well. I would LOVE TO have a KB layout that emulates the d2 slider . Any suggestions to something close to the d2 layout? I tried better keyboard but that sucked, just fancy buttons, no return no directional arrows... lmk

Swiftkey X

FlexT9! Never liked anything else since I started using that!

Personally, I'm still in the "tap tap tap" category, so SmartKeyboard Pro is the way to go. It looks nice, it sounds nice, and it vibrates. What's more to want?
Its customizable, apparently. I think you can tweak a lot on the keyboard. Rock solid. For those who still hammer out letter by letter.

Droid x keyboard?

Hello all. Recently I had found my perfect combination of rom/theme/layout. I'm running cm6 with the black mod theme and an android phone seven layout. I'm getting great battery life and clean crisp activity with no bugs or lag. But one thing doesn't match and that's my keyboard. I downloaded an IME blackmod keyboard but I'm so used to using the stock keyboard I simply cannot bear it. I saw in a Eris post while looking for keyboards the Droid x keyboard. It was very similar to the stock key board but all black. Do we hero users have a ported Droid x keyboard and if not is it possible? Let me know.

Well I have a Droid Eris version of the keyboard, can anyone port it?

There are a few working Droid x keyboard on if forum if you search. But I don't recommend it, the keyboard works well and is very responsive, all but for space bar, that doesn't work 9 times outa ten

I didn't know people were theming swiftkey yet. I'll keep an eye out for others. I would never text/email without this keyboard now that I've used it for the past 4-5 months.
BTW ZenExp has the option to download/apply the droid x keyboard within the rom config, but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe someone else has had it work for them.
I'm currently using smart keyboard pro with a droid theme. looks very similar.

Request: Droid X style text edit

Hi all, I just came from iPhone and am really missing the magnifiying glass that pops up when i want to move my text edit cursor between letters. I noticed the Droid X has this feature as well (in fact seems to work better than the iphone's).
My big thumbs can not tap accurately enough between letters, and I do not like the stock Sense kb (I'm using the Gingerbread kb).
Could anyone hook me up with this magnifying glass/cursor movement? I would be very appreciative.
I have fat fingers, too.
You know the GB keyboard you're using already has a helpful feature for this, right? It doesn't magnify anything, but those big text selector tabs just might be the best part of the GB update, lol.

hmmm i am not sure what you are talking about... The only way I know of to move is by tapping, but it is far too inaccurate.
The Gingebread keyboard has big tabs for text selection and moving the cursor. Here's an example:

Oh, Whoa!
Which Gingerbread kb are you using?? That looks sweet and I am pretty sure the one I've got does not have that function. Or if it does, I'm a fool and haven't figured out how to use it....
(I'm stock ROM with an "ruKeyboard 2.0 r19" apk)

the ones i have tried dont have it either. I did go to bestbuy and tried the nexus 2 and it had it and works great.
it isn't a feature of the gingerbread keyboard ports to 2.2, it is only available in the actual 2.3 system.
Sense at least has it in their browser.
I had the very same situation, came from iphone and was frustrated by this. Swype actually has a great text selection setup, just swype from the swype button to the sym button.

Thanks for the clarification.
Even more frustrating is that my buddy's Droid X has a similar function.
Nonetheless, one week into my EVO and loving it.

mod nation has seen a few requests for this so we answered
what is it?
this is the gingerbread keyboard with a froyo look and feel, this means you get the look of the froyo keyboard but the enhancements of the new gingerbread one.
why not just port the froyo keyboard wholesale?
that is a task that is easier said than done i have tried everything to get it to work without a huge amount of success
Future plans for this?
-some of the backgrounds are still the gingerbread ones on the smilely keyboard pop ups and some other areas i plan on fixing those when i get time
-maybe more (depends how things pan out)
Download here (this is for recoveries prior to CWM 3.0, i will post an edified version later)

I might make some more changes but I like it how it is at the moment the keys are the right size and it has the better text prediction like the gingerbread keyboard, I am currently typing this atleast a little faster than I usually do. Maybe its the placebo effect though

For anyone already using a gingerbread keyboard, just overwrite the LATINIME.apk in /system/app/ with the LATINIME you extract from this zip. No need for flashing but make sure to change to permission to rw-r--r--!!

[Q] Asus default keyboard terrible response time

Anyone else noticing incredible input lag with default Asus on screen keyboard? Switched to android default and it is considerably faster just winder if anyone else was seeing similar results.

Yes, I've just switched keyboards and totally agree.

yep. i got fed up with the asus one
I agree. The stock one is almost unusable because it lags so much.
I went to stock. The Asus one was laggy, unresponsive etc.. I do like their layout better though.

If you want the swipe type keyboard then I would suggest flex T9, if you want one to type with then I would recommend smart keyboard pro which allows you to change the width and height of the keys to suit your finger size. They are both available on the market but will cost you a little bit for the privilege however they are both fantastic to use without any lag. I prefer the flexT9 one as swiping is my preferred method of text entry.
thumb keyboard gets a nod from me.. and the new v4 beta adds some great new features.. also, I posted a while back that for some reason, text entry on some forums is inherantly laggy on the stock browser, no matter what keyboard you use (try switching to Firefox) to see what I mean so its possible the Asus keyboard may be getting a bit of an unfair rap ;-)
i recently downloaded thumb keyboard. Very customizable and makes it easy to type while holding the device in either orientation. ..

I love the asus keyboard. I've no issues with lag, only wished auto corrects is better. Like i just typed "ive" and it doesnt correct to "I've" and other simple things like pressing i doesn't auto correct to I.

I think that was one of the first changes I made to the device, get a better keyboard on.
thumb keyboard is pretty good and responsive.
I am so use to swype on my htc evo though.

Keyboard alternative?

I have not been on the android wagon in awhile and I was wondering about different keyboards on the market. I really like our stock multi touch keyboard but the white theme is burning a hole in my retinas at night. Could somebody recommend a free/paid replacement? I also really like the island style buttons on the keyboard. No Skype please, I've already deleted it from the rom lol. Thanks all!
I love thumb keyboard

Go keyboard does have it, but you wouldn't know from my screenshot cause I have it disabled. It's a highly customizable keyboard, you can even control the strength of the haptic feedback
Swiftkey
I use swift key because it has multiple theme colors and excellent predictive options. If you allow it gmail, text message, and/or facebook access it will learn how you type and make intelligent offers on what to type based your typing patterns. The other great thing is you can turn on arrows to move through what typed easier then trying to tap the proper place inside a word.
