Hello all. Recently I had found my perfect combination of rom/theme/layout. I'm running cm6 with the black mod theme and an android phone seven layout. I'm getting great battery life and clean crisp activity with no bugs or lag. But one thing doesn't match and that's my keyboard. I downloaded an IME blackmod keyboard but I'm so used to using the stock keyboard I simply cannot bear it. I saw in a Eris post while looking for keyboards the Droid x keyboard. It was very similar to the stock key board but all black. Do we hero users have a ported Droid x keyboard and if not is it possible? Let me know.

There are a few working Droid x keyboard on if forum if you search. But I don't recommend it, the keyboard works well and is very responsive, all but for space bar, that doesn't work 9 times outa ten

I didn't know people were theming swiftkey yet. I'll keep an eye out for others. I would never text/email without this keyboard now that I've used it for the past 4-5 months.
BTW ZenExp has the option to download/apply the droid x keyboard within the rom config, but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe someone else has had it work for them.
I'm currently using smart keyboard pro with a droid theme. looks very similar.

where do you see this? because I'd love to have swype look like the sense keyboard. I do have the newest swype since i'm in the beta.
The most recent version that was sent out yesterday is 2.4.44. It does not look like what you are requesting though.

i got an email from swype to download their updated version....
"Swype Beta for Android™ - Updated SwypeInstaller and Application!
Swype is pleased to offer an update to our Beta for Android!
First, we would like to extend our thanks for taking part in the Swype Beta. Your participation has helped us improve Swype and we hope you’ll continue to provide us with your insights and feedback.
Second, we are happy to announce that we've updated our beta software with several bug fixes and features. As such we’d like to invite you to download a new version of Swype on your handset to take advantage of the many improvements.
The current version expires in the next couple days, so please do download the new version!"
is this what your talking about? i haven't tried it yet so dont know what it looks like yet.
update: i just downloaded the swype from this email, and it's actually version2.4.44.xxx looks like the old version. going back to my black and red "droiddoes" themed swype.
OP Updated with pic
From the swype homepage it looks like the one from the motorola cliq xt. It wouldn't be hard to extract the images if someone got a hold of the apk. Unfortunately, I think the images would have to be upscaled to work with our devices. Then, just repackage swype for our resolution screen with the new images.
I got the new swype yesterday and it works great kinda looks like the stock htc ime keyboard.

mod nation has seen a few requests for this so we answered
what is it?
this is the gingerbread keyboard with a froyo look and feel, this means you get the look of the froyo keyboard but the enhancements of the new gingerbread one.
why not just port the froyo keyboard wholesale?
that is a task that is easier said than done i have tried everything to get it to work without a huge amount of success
Future plans for this?
-some of the backgrounds are still the gingerbread ones on the smilely keyboard pop ups and some other areas i plan on fixing those when i get time
-maybe more (depends how things pan out)
Download here (this is for recoveries prior to CWM 3.0, i will post an edified version later)

I might make some more changes but I like it how it is at the moment the keys are the right size and it has the better text prediction like the gingerbread keyboard, I am currently typing this atleast a little faster than I usually do. Maybe its the placebo effect though

Well done as usual sir! If it wasn't for SwiftKey I'd be all over this.
my signature is better than yours
For anyone already using a gingerbread keyboard, just overwrite the LATINIME.apk in /system/app/ with the LATINIME you extract from this zip. No need for flashing but make sure to change to permission to rw-r--r--!!

Nice, going to try it.
I've search numerous threads regarding the LG Optimus 2X iphone style keyboard and ports of them but none of them work after installing/flashing the update with lib files.
Has anyone got any of them to work with the G2X?
Thanks
I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro. Works fine for me.

I'd still be interested to know if the 2X keyboard has/will/can be ported.
????
I have both Thumb Keyboard and Better Keyboard and neither one work on my G2X
Swiftkey works just fine. I'm waiting for a more stable release of CM7. I actually really like the built in keyboard that gingerbread comes with.
yes the lg keyboard works with the g2x just fine. using it currently
Both the Gingerbread Keyboard from the market and Nuance FlexT9 work fine on mine.
Smart keyboard pro FTW. Best one i have tried.
+1 the Gingerbread keyboard.
You can download and install it through the market. It was my first download and worked great on the G2x. I have CM7 now, which is obviously included.

Does anybody know what those Note Widget are? (Screen 4) Is that an app or default Gaya3d app/widget?
I actually quite like this launcher. Thanks
Just downloaded this launcher not bad. I just wish we could get rid of the grid type sections on the homepage.

Did you get the LG UI on our phone? Looks like everything is functioning!?!?!?!! Baseband and all?!!
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Not that much LOL. What you see is the skin, launcher and most of the Widgets. The skin was easy. The launcher is the harder part, and it still has a bug I have to solve. Most of the widgets activate once the launcher is working.
Still a g2x and still using g2x firmware. I haven't conquered porting

jboxer tried to port the 2x on g2x but signal wasnt working. this looks the same. can you add the icons from the LG UI? like camera and such .

This isn't actually a port of the o2x Rom, it's a port of the LG Launcher & Theme. jboxer actually has a working theme on his Colorized 2.3.4 Rom. In this case, I've themed BakaG2X as well, and then ported the LG Launcher.
I'm very familiar with the radio problems porting from o2x to g2x... some serious minds have worked on that problem and failed, there are more differences than were realized at first between the devices. So instead of trying to port the roms, it's easier to port the APPS.
As far as the LG Camera, I'm going to leave project alone for now.
I'm working on getting it working for other 2.3.3 roms, but there are still a few steps left.
Edit: Those using bloater on a 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 rom should now be able to download these. See the thread in apps and themes forum for more info. Any questions or comments at this point should go there.
