so I was messing with a fake gps app and now my location is stuck in florida when I live in california. google maps or any location based app starts with florida and then 30 seconds later it will find my real location. I got my replacement phone today and it's STILL stuck in florida making me think my gps location is stored with google somewhere. so strange anyone know how to fix this?

Go into applicationa›maps and then click on clear data and it should be fine otherwise if you have a backup of gps.conf then paste it where it goes and you should be back in business

if i open maps and try to find my current location, it's fast. when i'm in the car and driving... and my wife uses the google nav to get us to a new location... it can't lock on my location. i've left it on for 10+ mins and it cannot find my location. this has happened on multiple roms and in multiple locations.
i'm currently using mdj's cm7.
I had this issue before as well. After some researching on these forums and HTC's forums, it was known that for some reason, our phone takes a while to retrieve the navigation data. It can take up to 20 minutes to "warm up." HTC is already aware of the issue and they're trying to come up with a fix.
However what I do to prevent the phone from warming up all the time, I just leave GPS on and this worked! Instead of waiting 10+ minutes for navi to work, it takes no more than a minute. Sometimes even instant. So just try to leave gps on all the time and you should be fine.
I do leave the GPS on. I found a thread in the dhd section about GPS issues with some tips. I'm going to see if any of those help.

This works. Sounds general, but make sure in Settings>Locations 'USE GPS Satellites is ticked(check-marked....or whatever )
I have faster fix, it's already set to north America. I don't have sense. I think the problem is a result of me running the nav app while driving. I think I have to get a fix before running the nav.

I had to reflash the radio once to get my gps working right. No matter what I did my gps wouldn't use the satellites but after the flash I was all good.

Google maps/navi is usually bound to the system language, make sure you selected "Enligsh (US)" and no other app is fiddling around with that setting.
I thought the units of measurement in google maps is based in your location. For example if you're in china it could use the metric system instead of the English...

Hey
I just got this new G2X again and this does not pick up GPS, even though GPS app shows that its connected to satellites, but on MAPS it does not show location.....
I am using CM7.....
Someone know how to fix this?
Same thing happened to me. The GPS locks instantly after i Flashed back to the stock . Not sure is it because of the rom or kernel.
even on stock it does not determine location.....
someone knows whats wrong
What baseband are you on?
Had same problem.
Make sure that "use wireless networks" and "use gps satellites" is checked under Location and Security.
The wireless network is what was hindering my gps from locking onto my location.

Or you could download GPS test from market and clear agps data and update it after.. it worked great for me after. My GPS would never lock before

Hey everyone, hope someone can help.
I love Google now, and use it every day. But I've been getting an annoying issue constantly.
I'm getting commute cards coming up all the time saying I'm 39 minutes away, 45 minutes away etc... from my home location. I did some closer looking and noticed that its not getting my correct location. Google Now (and Google maps) seems to think I'm elsewhere, when I'm actually at home. I also noticed that when launching Google maps, it shows the wrong location on boot, then fixes to my GPS location.
I'm annoyed by this because it use to work perfect a couple weeks back, and that I use this on a daily basis for bus route times. I can't use it now because its giving me bus routes and times from the location Google thinks I'm at.
Here's some information about my phone:
- Liquid ROM
- Latest Google Search from Play Store
- Wi-Fi off, GPS on, Data on.
Hope someone can help me out.

I use GPS Test https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest
(Actually I bought the Plus version for $3 because I use it a lot.)
Also, I found that when roaming, it doesn't seem to pick up location from cell networks. (I have data roaming disabled.)

It has the options to Clear and/or Update AGPS too.
Edit: ..and it looks nicer, but that's a matter of opinion/taste..

Using the aGPS helped a little while in motion and In Toronto, but google now/maps still thinks I'm in the middle of a creek/forest when I'm sitting comfortably at home....
Any other helpful tips?

It is enabled.
After doing some research, many people are saying that using WiFi will help out pinning my location.
So for my next test, im turning on WiFi, and disabling background location reporting. I found that background location reporting didn't do anything different to my Google Now data, and was a big battery drainer, making Google maps the top app draining my battery even though it wasn't being used.

City header not showing up in Google Now since factory flashing 5.0. Was working fine on kit kat and lollipop preview. Now only showing generic mountains. Home city is ny btw. Anybody else with this problem??
Having the same issue and same circumstance. NYC as well.
I have never seen my home city header on Google Now. I actually didn't even know it was supposed to. I always get the generic mountain scene. I thought everybody saw the same thing. Maybe it changes just for major cities? I live in the Tampa, Florida area btw.
Every major city has one but not sure about Tampa. I had one forever until a couple weeks ago. Its strange.

I have this too, both on my Nexus 5 and on my Nexus 6. I got it to reappear briefly by clearing search data once, but it disappeared again on refreshing and that hasn't worked again.
Using location spoofing I can get it to show the images for San Francisco and for New York with no problems, but even spoofing my home location (Seattle) it won't show it. Super weird.
So should this be reported?

Strangely, after weeks of not working, my city background is back today. No idea what caused it to come back either.
Holy ****. Here too. Its a thanksgiving miracle.
