CM6 for G2X?? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Is there a CM6 for this phone?? lol (probobly a stupid question... but yeah)

Thanks in advance

Dont think so bro i would be on it fo sho! Everyone is so caught up in the gb deal, a froyo rom with all the cm tweaks would be sweet!

+1 (Definitely agree)

Just what is so great about FY? I really can't fathom why anyone would prefer it over GB, except MAYBE better drivers from LG, but the CM team fixed just about every problem with the 2.3.3 leak.
The only think I can think of is the LG camera, and is that REALLY so important?

You answered your own question. Some people don't wanna deal with all those problems and want a stable ROM with the tweaks they want.

What do you mean they fixed every problem from the leak? If i'm not mistaken CM7 is an AOSP 2.3.4 rom. Not a 2.3.3 leak based rom (if i'm wrong then disregard the rest of this paragraph). So they didn't fix anything from the leak. Don't get me wrong I can't wait for CM7 but to say they fixed all the problems from the leak is an inaccurate statement. Some of us use A2DP on a daily basis and the only GB roms that have that are the ones based on the leak which has incredibly slow keyboard lag and not that great of battery life.
So yes I agree with OP. We would have a fully functioning rom with great battery life until some does release the neccessary drivers to make a fully function GB rom.

Agreed... CM6 would rule at this point.

Gingerbread with 2.2 Kernel

Hi,
Well we have an Froyo Kernel (UK,Orange,Chinese) well the guys at the XT720 got Froyo with 2.1 UK Kernel to Work.
Someone gonna try 2.3 with 2.2. UK/Orange Kernel?
That would be something really nice we could work on
Cause with 2.2 UK / Orange we have perfect working Froyo, now there ist only 720p (half done) ,FM-Transmitter (seems impossible) and finally Bootloader Cracking(really hard work) left for Developers
We could use CM7 or Milestone Gingerbread Port
Regards
the guys that are working on milestone baked a fully?! working gingerbread, can't the same method they used to get it working on milestone be used for our defy? i also read that custom kernels can be loaded on droid x and milestone
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/pr...5-getting-custom-kernels-running-droid-x.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941346
can anybody make an attempt!?
I dont care about pays rom or s.froyo all what we want is stock gingerbread or even cm7 but no more froyo blur roms plz!!!

Unfortunately I can't find any information that they actually used the kexec method to load a fully custom kernel. I'm hoping they are still hiding it for the public to get rid of bugs. I fear though it's never going to happen. Despite that fear, a true CM7 on our Defy with a Moto kernel would already be quite nice. The custom roms so far are nice, but they are nothing more than adaptations of the original firmware. There is still Moto stuff in them, and don't we all just want to have Gingerbread on our Defy?
Honesty.... Gingerbread is the worst update google has done.. might as well wait for Icecream for some REAL update besides some phone off animations. Before we even got a froyo rom I attempted to port it with advice I got from dexter awhile ago... obviously didn't work.

All I can say is can't wait for blurless tmous froyo (cue jboogie)
2.3 doesn't seem to do much really...
It would be nice to have the latest ginger just to have the latest ginger to keep our Defy up to date.
I agree with jboogie3, it would be better keep some energy to concentrate our efforts on the next release during this time if you don't like blur stuff I would advise the latest jboogie3 rom which is really fast and as blurless as it's reasonable to be (only miss ginger keyboard which has improvements and drawbacks .
A core CM port would be nice though.
Cheers,

I hope Motorola gives defy little ginger, because froyo its close to final release.
I think that Motorola developers will not stop there.

Unfortunately even the deblurred ROMs aren't running stock apps. They still have Moto contacts, moto dialler, cmp and more at a minimum, not to mention there are moto services you can't get rid of.
It's not that I don't appreciate the work the devs are doing with ROMs but all I really want is a proper Froyo stock ROM, maybe one day I'll get bothered enough to try and make one

at this moment the most we can do with rom deblur, is to change
some applications aosp with some blur .... not easy to delete all app
motorola, there are some default app that you just replace them, but must rewrite the correct library for it to work properly, such (for example) as a keyboard (or gingerbread Android) ..
Everyone, could you plz save your efforts with all the blur roms and start baking stock roms cz I believe it is possible but just needs alot of work, so to all the devs here can u all work on the same project of unlocking the bootloader and porting stock roms, plz!!!

Gingerbread keyboard works dandy on my defy.
There is a port for 2.2 devices...
Gingerbread is all in all a nice update. made my hd2 faster, better looking and added this little orange bumps to the lists...
btw: 2.3.3 enables a lot of apps made for multiple processors.
There are many kernel sources (and more sources) available on motodev
ex:
https://opensource.motorola.com/sf/go/projects.moto_defy/frs.defy_skt.jdskt_u3_02_20_0
https://opensource.motorola.com/sf/...ects.moto_defy/frs.defy_latam.jorla_u3_6_14_5
There are sources of the 2.1.1, but i find nothing related to the 3.4.2 build
but kernel Makefile shows v2.6.29 and not 2.6.32

Stock Froyo or Gingerbread ROMs?

Do any stock Froyo or Gingerbread ROMS exist for the Captivate? I see all of these aftermarket ROMS posted but I don't like all the themes or added programs they come with. I just want a stock ROM.
There is AT&T stock 2.2 and Rogers stock 2.2 depending on which Captivate you have.
2.3 has not been released for the Galaxy S. It was leaked for the i9000, but that ROM isn't working yet. The only real 2.3 ROM for the Captivate is CM7 which is not yet stable.

Seriously? If you want a stock ROM then just use the one available from your carrier. Cognition 4 is as close as a custom ROM can be to stock, but minus the bloatware and it has some minor performance tweaks. This place isn't in the business of creating "stock" ROMs.
For stock like feel, i'd recommend one of two roms. Andromeda 1.2 (unthemed) or Cog 4.1. Andro is based off of the Armani Captivate 2.2 and the devs did a fantastic job of making it somewhat minimal and still has all the goodies. They also added a few other nice touches. Cog is based off of official ATT 2.2 with the bloatware gone and lagfix installed. It is also very nice but didn't hold my attention the way Andro does. As was already mentioned CM7 is ok for people that know how to trouble shoot their phones and can deal with the bugs. It's NOT meant for people new to their phones and flashing.

AT&T hasn't pushed an update for the Captivate. Even if they did it would still be loaded with crapware that slow the phone down.
So, it's impossible to get a stock rom easily?

The update came from Samsung and not ATT. The easiest way to get a "stock rom" is to use keis to do the update. Yes it will come with all the bloat from ATT. If you dont want the bloat then there are ways to remove them, gone over many times in the forum which you would have found had you done a search.
As for Stock Gingerbread roms, well to be honest we will most likely not see an ATT stock gingerbread as the 2.2 update is most likely the only one we will get through official channels

It's pretty solid with a fresh flash. You could flash a different kernel but the stock one is perfectly capable.
Do yourself a favor and flash ultimate droid instead of cm7. Ud is based on cm7, but much faster and with better battery life.

This is the reason why I lol every time I see someone say that. It's just a re-skinned CM7 with a few more features (that you can do yourself) and a different kernel.
On topic, I would flash the latest nightly. It's just as stable as 7.0.2.

Check out Mik's .51 Rom. Stock Gingerbread with Sense 2.1, works great!
Only "stock" gb with sense 2.1 would be a shift port. The evo will not be getting 2.1, not from HTC anyways
I am really liking Avas gingerbread with 2.1. Tried the others, Avas is my favorite. Throw the sense 3 lockscreen on it and your good to go. Hopefully the sense 3.0 ports will stabilize as much as the 2.1s have. 3.0 is tha ****!
Im kinda glad amot posted this cuz I been curious. I thought I remembered this with the 4.12 radio leak, but if there's an official evo GB, why all the ports and semi-functional roms (no offense to ANYBODY)?
Is it just cuz of the effort to get the newer sense? Im on xda every day. But it seemed like this leak came and went. Unless I missed something.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
We got the (incomplete) kernel, and library files out of this leak that have made every gb sense Rom possible. It is entirely useless other than that because it had nothing other than some files of and interstate to anyone. The better sense versions are why we use ports anyways. I'm sure that once we do actually get an official version, with everything working, these ports will get better.
Also sense 3.0 will never be complete, or 100% stable on the evo for a few reasons, but that's what search is for.

AT&T official gingerbread for Captivate discussion

I am opening this thread to discuss the new official release from AT&T and Samsung. Details can be found here.
I'm not sure why discussion rooting was a reason to close a thread, but I guess a overzealous mod is better than no mod.
I hate to burst your bubble but there's already an active thread about the official AT&T Gingerbread release.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437947
I am not sure how much needs to be discussed. It is the same rom that was leaked back in 11/16/2011. Developers have done some amazing stuff with the Rom so far. All that is left for them to do really is add BLN and voodoo color to the kernel. I am not sure if having the source will do anything more for the Rom themselves.
FYI - Mod don't like ppl reopening closed threads.
yes I was active on that thread. It was locked by a mod because people started to discuss how to root the new release. zergRush does not work on it.

I also had Tethering manage FC on me, but only right after I flashed it on the first reboot. I have not seen it FC again. I am very familiar with the Fugu kernel swap and think it great method, but my issue that I don't have a source of the kies released KK4 kernel. Do you know how to gernerate or extract an ODIN flashable kernel from the running image?
I'm running Cyanogenmod kang build 7.2 right now but I gotta ask is it worth going to stock gingerbread? How stable is it? I'll be honest I miss some of the touchwiz apps, but IMO the stock froyo rom sucked. At the very least I'd probably root and remove the AT&T BS, but IMO The froyo rom ran slower and buggier than the stock eclair rom! I really just want everyone's general opinion of it. Its a tough call. I got my phone running pretty stable with Cyanogenmod right now and its out of warrenty anyway so it might not even be worth my time anyway.

Well the camera is a heck of a lot better the AOSP. It's worth it, even though it's still RFS, it's snappy and way better the KB1 ever was.
Yeah speaking of rfs I'd definitely be putting a lag fix on. I might look into it, and yes I agree about the camera, in fact honestly the hate against touchwiz is unwarranted. All the touchwiz apps are better, even the launcher is better than vanilla android one(not counting cyanogenmod that uses adw, which is one if the best). Only thing I did notice is without touchwiz the rom is faster, so obviously it adds bulk but the apps are so much better!

I never did get slacker radio and maps working at the same time on kk4. Even with tweaks I mentioned in another thread, slacker started dying after about a day of use. No problems like that with cm7. Thats why I am mostly interested if they actually made any changes from the leak. I doubt it though.
Ginger Bread is here
Im updating currently to official ginger bread
Didn't you notice that Samsung & at&t dropped lots of original Gingerbread features? like the CRT screen-off animation... I can't find it on the new official GB update one.
Is CarrierIQ still present in the official build? Curious. It was in the leak.
