Hahaha dude I see you on here all the time, where you been? Practically all of the new gingersense roms out today are completely dependent on that leak. Without that you wouldnt have any of the new roms, plus, some of the roms out right now are based on that, like Calks new Evio rom.
i love those roms but i wish they were smaller files. i have never partitioned my sd before

Check out Mik's .51 Rom. Stock Gingerbread with Sense 2.1, works great!
Only "stock" gb with sense 2.1 would be a shift port. The evo will not be getting 2.1, not from HTC anyways
I am really liking Avas gingerbread with 2.1. Tried the others, Avas is my favorite. Throw the sense 3 lockscreen on it and your good to go. Hopefully the sense 3.0 ports will stabilize as much as the 2.1s have. 3.0 is tha ****!
Im kinda glad amot posted this cuz I been curious. I thought I remembered this with the 4.12 radio leak, but if there's an official evo GB, why all the ports and semi-functional roms (no offense to ANYBODY)?
Is it just cuz of the effort to get the newer sense? Im on xda every day. But it seemed like this leak came and went. Unless I missed something.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
We got the (incomplete) kernel, and library files out of this leak that have made every gb sense Rom possible. It is entirely useless other than that because it had nothing other than some files of and interstate to anyone. The better sense versions are why we use ports anyways. I'm sure that once we do actually get an official version, with everything working, these ports will get better.
Also sense 3.0 will never be complete, or 100% stable on the evo for a few reasons, but that's what search is for.

Do any stock Froyo or Gingerbread ROMS exist for the Captivate? I see all of these aftermarket ROMS posted but I don't like all the themes or added programs they come with. I just want a stock ROM.
There is AT&T stock 2.2 and Rogers stock 2.2 depending on which Captivate you have.
2.3 has not been released for the Galaxy S. It was leaked for the i9000, but that ROM isn't working yet. The only real 2.3 ROM for the Captivate is CM7 which is not yet stable.

Yeah, I'm running CM7 right now and it's stable, but definitely still has some bugs. Feature wise, it seems packed, but some of the bugs I am experiencing are QUITE irritating for daily use.

Which is exactly why it's not a stable ROM yet, in addition to a few things under the hood.
But let's not get too off topic, the OP wants stock ROMs.

Seriously? If you want a stock ROM then just use the one available from your carrier. Cognition 4 is as close as a custom ROM can be to stock, but minus the bloatware and it has some minor performance tweaks. This place isn't in the business of creating "stock" ROMs.
For stock like feel, i'd recommend one of two roms. Andromeda 1.2 (unthemed) or Cog 4.1. Andro is based off of the Armani Captivate 2.2 and the devs did a fantastic job of making it somewhat minimal and still has all the goodies. They also added a few other nice touches. Cog is based off of official ATT 2.2 with the bloatware gone and lagfix installed. It is also very nice but didn't hold my attention the way Andro does. As was already mentioned CM7 is ok for people that know how to trouble shoot their phones and can deal with the bugs. It's NOT meant for people new to their phones and flashing.

AT&T hasn't pushed an update for the Captivate. Even if they did it would still be loaded with crapware that slow the phone down.
So, it's impossible to get a stock rom easily?

The update came from Samsung and not ATT. The easiest way to get a "stock rom" is to use keis to do the update. Yes it will come with all the bloat from ATT. If you dont want the bloat then there are ways to remove them, gone over many times in the forum which you would have found had you done a search.
As for Stock Gingerbread roms, well to be honest we will most likely not see an ATT stock gingerbread as the 2.2 update is most likely the only one we will get through official channels

This also includes the usb drivers. Just connect your phone to your computer and update.

Remove all the AT&T/Samesung Apps that you do not want

Here is a guide that pretty much tells you how to do almost anything on your captivate. Only a couple things like flashing a custom rom are excluded.

yes but now we'll have the kernel source code!
Wrong section bro. btw ya really good news...also my GB with sense 2.1 odex nand fit version is done will upload it soon...after first boot data partition has 110Mb for apps data...
I believe 10 days ago HTC announced Desire won't be getting Gingerbread, because of memory problems.
@htrx, they said htc will remove some of the app so they can fit GB.
Great news, if we get more out of the official version.
And 9 days ago they retracted that statement following a massive rollocking by the community
great news i think
Hope for a better kernel (and for snq´s extras on this)
also for better radio, ril, wifi..and battery
with kind regards..Alex
"Exciting" news for the ones not rooted LOL
Reading the above statement correctly though just says they will be announcing when the update will be coming next week. So for all we know they could say GB for Bravo will come next year!

More than likely it is in the init files in the boot.img, it probably does not have a init.trout.rc file which calls/loads the wifi Also will have to swap out the firmware file and config from the /system/etc/wifi.

I'll look into it. I think gingerbread sense would be awesome if it is fast enough. I think it maybe a problem on G1 tho, just for the fact of the limited RAM.
I've always looked upon sense roms as 'Plastic' roms (meaning not to be taken seriously) I really don't mean to be rude or to offend but they break BT, backlights (I know there are 'work arounds') and camcorder! I have a phone for it's features not to flash a rom to kill them. What is the big attraction with all the sense roms popping up and with the time and effort being put into them?
And I do understand variety is the spice of life and all I just don't get sense roms

I did all that, it has to do with the libhardware_legacy.so file. It thinks the WLAN driver is something like tiwlan_drv.ko but hex editing it will make it work with WLAN.ko. I tried but can't get it to work. Maybe asking a hero dev will help?

Anyway, the kernels we use on our sense roms right now are really for AOSP or stock android. We don't use HTC kernels with our HTC Sense roms. So: maybe if we took the HTC Magic's (32A) eclair kernel source and made it work for 32B, then everything else would work (bluewooth, native USB mount, HTC Sync)

HTC said they will be upgrading as many phone as possible to ICS, how would they upgrade us to ICS if we don't even have Gingerbread yet?
My guess would be upgrade to gingerbread, then ice cream sandwich. But seriously, "as many as possible, while slowly pushing the thunderbolt under the rug." With as many problems as they've had, i'm not holding my breath for an official release. I'm sure the devs will give us a better version though.

Given the market icon that represents android 2.1, I'd wager it's just a modified stock rom...could be me, but wasn't this done more than enough times already? Like almost 2 years ago? Android 2.1 is completely obsolete and nobody really wants it anymore...plus, liquidsense and nfx are already the best 2.1 roms out there...nothing can really be done to improve on them...OP, why not just use Android 2.3? Thanks
hey money,
if you want to reduce rom size, offer anything non-system essential in an optional update.zip. i see from screenshots you have pacman and nba, those could be offered in a separate zip. if you need any help at all doing this, feel free to ask, and ill help as much as possible. keep up the good work, i know you will go far.
maybe also if we feel froggy we can adapt aroma to your rom and let users choose exactly what they want and dont want?
also i see your on cellular south, maybe offer a separate update.zip for a sprint fix? this would include mms.apk from a sprint stock rom, sprint eri.xml, and telephony.db from a sprint rom. that way both carriers are supported.
