Sense ROMs - G1 Android Development

Is anyone still interested in running a usable sense rom on g1 or mt3g? Like eclair or froyo sense? I just want to find out the interest level before I start any projects.

We have eclair sense, What about Froyo sense? There are better kernels for froyo for 32B whereas there is only one buggy kernel for eclair.

I found a froyo sense rom that can maybe be ported from mt3g slide.

Starting from another custom rom or taking a RUU?

Its a stock OTA release. Its actually an espresso rom.
BTW, check your msgs.

I actually have been working on an eclair sense rom. Its looking pretty good.

sure i would love to use a stable and fully functional sense rom..BTW which project is gonna start eclair or froyo..

What about gingerbread sense since its newer?

Its way too much for our devices. Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107943
I don't know of any other way to make it faster. Hard to use even with both compcache and swap being used at the same.

Im actually looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025330 right now.

Or there's this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210661.
I would love a newer gb sense rom. And I'll help in development of it where I can

More than likely it is in the init files in the boot.img, it probably does not have a init.trout.rc file which calls/loads the wifi Also will have to swap out the firmware file and config from the /system/etc/wifi.

I'll look into it. I think gingerbread sense would be awesome if it is fast enough. I think it maybe a problem on G1 tho, just for the fact of the limited RAM.

I've always looked upon sense roms as 'Plastic' roms (meaning not to be taken seriously) I really don't mean to be rude or to offend but they break BT, backlights (I know there are 'work arounds') and camcorder! I have a phone for it's features not to flash a rom to kill them. What is the big attraction with all the sense roms popping up and with the time and effort being put into them?
And I do understand variety is the spice of life and all I just don't get sense roms

I have a theory on how to make the Bluetooth work and everything else but I'm not a kernel guy.

I did all that, it has to do with the libhardware_legacy.so file. It thinks the WLAN driver is something like tiwlan_drv.ko but hex editing it will make it work with WLAN.ko. I tried but can't get it to work. Maybe asking a hero dev will help?

Anyway, the kernels we use on our sense roms right now are really for AOSP or stock android. We don't use HTC kernels with our HTC Sense roms. So: maybe if we took the HTC Magic's (32A) eclair kernel source and made it work for 32B, then everything else would work (bluewooth, native USB mount, HTC Sync)

Sure If its fast, small, compact and doesnt drain battery ...

Well, the kernel will be from 32A to 32B, so I think everything would be okay.

Best Rosie ROM for Magic?

Hi,
I am new to Android, and I was very impressed with the videos which show the Rosie UI. Which is the best (fastest) ROM currently using Rosie which can be flashed on the Magic?
TIA.
The Qteknology ones seems to be the fastest so far.
Tho as with all the Hero roms at the mo people seem to be having a few problems. Like a delay in receiving texts or even not receiving them at all! There is also sometimes a delay in the phone ringing when a call comes in.
Thanks for the fast reply, Roy. I see in another thread that I there will be an official ROM in October, so I will wait 'till then.
Which other ROM would you recommend for now? At the moment I am running the daldroid official HTC ROM, since the one preinstalled by the operator in my country disables the Android Market.
What official Rom in october? Do you mean Donut?
That is just going to be a sort of update from cupcake which is used on the standard stock roms right now. The devs on here are alredy playing with the some of the code from donut and have been taking stuff from it and putting it in their own roms.
If you have flashed your phone with another rom then it is unlikely you will receive this official update.
As you can see from my sig I'm still using one of the Cyanogen roms, I'm keeping an eye on the Qteknology Hero one though as it is pretty fast and works nicely. Just needs a few bugs ironed out.

I'm pretty sure some kind soul will dump the ROM on here and the excellent devs will be able to do something with it
The ROM would be meant for Magics so the bugs/issues that we are seeing will most probably be solved with that.

No, Ive never tried his. Id say weve reached a point where most of the Hero ROM's are pretty damn close in speed...Unless someone comes out with a unique idea like BFS, RAM hack, and stuff like that until we start seeing major speed improvements. I will say this is a pretty speedy and stable ROM though.

+1, Love to see some of the marvellous nexus kernels ported to desire. And fully ported Enomther and Cyanogen rom.
Yeah full Cyanogen would be great too.

If my understanding is correct...this will allow custom ROMs with the Sense UI to be created and hopefully...fully functional.
Customized Sense ROM with 100% working bluetooth
this will be a busy week end for cooks!
I think the first thing on the agenda is to Port Peshoots OC Kernal with a fully functioning CM 5.07
Get to work guys))))))

That means we will be able to get Android 2.2 Froyo when it will be available for Nexus One ?

Fastest, smoothest Sense ROM for G1?

Whats the fastest/smoothest Sense ROM for the HTC Dream/Tmobile G1?
preferably Eclair or higher, but i'm fine with donut or something
Also, I need GAPPs
Well reading a few rom threads and having your own opinion would be a start. There are no higher then eclair sense roms, There are a few 2.1 sense though, NONE have bluetooth. Gapps is only needed for Cyanogen roms, because most other devs add them in. Gapps are in the Cyanogen thread.
Try a few HERO roms for yourself. My personal favorite (search a few pages) is the Slide rom by ChiefzReloaded. Make sure you have a swap set at 128mb or higher for them.
Also, unfourtunatly, KingKlicks sense roms run pretty well too. You just gota search a few pages for them.

Check out Mik's .51 Rom. Stock Gingerbread with Sense 2.1, works great!
Only "stock" gb with sense 2.1 would be a shift port. The evo will not be getting 2.1, not from HTC anyways
I am really liking Avas gingerbread with 2.1. Tried the others, Avas is my favorite. Throw the sense 3 lockscreen on it and your good to go. Hopefully the sense 3.0 ports will stabilize as much as the 2.1s have. 3.0 is tha ****!
Im kinda glad amot posted this cuz I been curious. I thought I remembered this with the 4.12 radio leak, but if there's an official evo GB, why all the ports and semi-functional roms (no offense to ANYBODY)?
Is it just cuz of the effort to get the newer sense? Im on xda every day. But it seemed like this leak came and went. Unless I missed something.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
We got the (incomplete) kernel, and library files out of this leak that have made every gb sense Rom possible. It is entirely useless other than that because it had nothing other than some files of and interstate to anyone. The better sense versions are why we use ports anyways. I'm sure that once we do actually get an official version, with everything working, these ports will get better.
Also sense 3.0 will never be complete, or 100% stable on the evo for a few reasons, but that's what search is for.
