Are you using any custom kernels or anything?

A common theme I see around here... "hey guys I'm running XYZ rom and half the stuff on my Xoom is broken".
Go back to stock software and re-test and share your results please

Gtfo if you're not going to help.
OP when did this start happening? It could be a utility or program you downloaded on your Xoom. Are you rooted stock 3.1? Did you do a nandroid backup? Did you flash something in recovery lately? Have you tried to.uninstall said game and reinstall?

If I start helping does that mean I should add that pretentious "donate to me" button?
By the way, asking the OP to try stock for the duration of a few tests vs. custom software is completely legitimate and I consider it helpful. I would like to know if something has perhaps glitched out in his software load, and going back to factory first is the place to start. Go back to factory.... see if problem exists, if not... then move back to root and custom rom and try again.
Exactly what is wrong with that logic?
"gtfo" if you don't like my troubleshooting suggestions.

So if I have a problem in Windows you'd recommend to reload the OS from scratch? That's something the Geek Squad would say. It's better to pinpoint the problem than takimg the easy way out. For all you know he's rooted stock.
FYI that donate button was there since the begining when I did work on Windows Mobile. I never ask/asked for donations.

Depending on your problem with windows, I would definately give you that answer. The only reason I gave the prior answer was because its technically much easier to "reload" one of these devices than it is to reload windows on your PC for many various reasons.
The OP certainly isn't required to take my suggestions, but I don't see very many suggestions happening here so pardon me for trying to toss in my two cents.
It's important to know the history of these devices when users start having trouble with them. Did the OP merely root or did the OP root, flash kernels and OC as well? It's entirely within reason to believe that some silicon just won't stand up to overclocking and you may very well cause damage. For a wide variety of users this doesn't seem to be the case because I know people are overclocking and running just fine (for now). I spend a great deal of time watching the progress of kernel development over in the #xoom channel on IRC and I'm not "down" on what they are doing at all (FYI).
But for this users situation, yes.. I'd like to see them restore the tablet to stock and report results.
Another thing about asking a windows user to reload... they can always grab a spare hard drive and reload windows on that for matters of troubleshooting a bad driver load, or something of that nature.
Any other questions?

PS: Geek Squad can kiss my rear end, don't put me in the same category as them

formatting windows IS the best solution.

I have Tiamat 1.4.4 and already wiped everything (cache, files everything). When it restored my apps Tank herto and any other 3D game is still fd up. It really sucks

Captivate market problems after 2.2 flash

So I flashed the 2.2 leak the other night, now I'm having issues with the market. I lost some paid apps (such as a5phalt, which I still have the files for, but no loader and it doesn't show up anywhere). also, I am not able to download paid apps, it just says "downloading" or "authorizing purchase" then "unsuccessful". Anybody have any suggestions??

This will happen everytime you flash to any unreleased firmware. Solutions are posted in Dev section of the forum.

With a signature like that how do you expect to make friends who will help?
Anyway, several things can help with that market issue. First go to applications (touching menu button when on a home screen), select manage applications, scroll to the market app and click on clear data and clear cache. If this does not help, reboot into recovery and cleat cache there. As a last resort..do a factory data reset under privacy in the settings menu...do a backup prior to this as it will erase data and apps
Sent telepathically using vulcan mind meld app.
One additional thing to check..open market, click on menu button, click on downloads and cancel anything that is trying to download before doing the above steps. Occasionally an app will hang at starting download causing problems
Sent telepathically using vulcan mind meld app.
So...unfortunately I couldn't find any fix to my problem. cleared my data and cache to no avail. I certainly appreciate the help guys

Sigh. The fix for market problem is simple. You have to root your phone first. Then replace the build.properties file with the one from the released firmware and you're good to go. Basically, you need to trick the Market to think you're running any of the official release firmware (JF6 or JH7) in order to be able to see all the apps. There is a dedicated thread in dev section about it. Or you can just wait. If JI6 is finally released (hope not) by AT&T, your market problem will be automatically resolved because AT&T/Samsung will tell Google that this version of the firmware is legit and allow to use Market.

I've been asking for about 2 weeks. I mostly get ignored. When I did get answered it was along the lines of 'nobody else is having this problem so you're on your own'. If you Google the issue loads of people are having the problem with froyo. None of their solutions work for me. I guess not enough people HERE are having this issue to put more effort into it. I've sent a small donation to the dev who's ROM I was using and still didn't get attention. I'd like to send more but why if I don't get help? If there's no solution to my problem I'd rather someone say look there's no solution. I'm ready to flash back to 2.1 as I have more than one issue that seems to be well known among froyo users, but somehow nobody in the captivate forums experience them except for ME. Not blaming anybody for anything, I'm just telling my story. One person took some time out to try to help me out and I thank him for that but clearing data didn't work, and for some reason there my 'clear cache' button is always grayed out. I'll wait for the official release (not holding my breath though).

From what you say, many people have offered solutions. Maybe not personally, but others experienced the problem. Their solutions haven't worked for you. Someone looked into your problem, their solution didn't work. People tried, and failed. When you give a donation, its a donation. Not payment for tech support.
Getting ignored isn't "I hate that this kid is always asking this dumb question, I'm going to the next post." It's "I dunno wtf he's talking about, what else is on here before I go to work/school."
--Now if I was in your shoes, I would reflash back to stock, and master clear. I'm a noob with Android, so I can't offer you much else. Sorry.

If anything we learnt from these forums is that you never say never. So if I have nothing to offer to you, I'll let others who may have the solution to post. It's not ignoring. It's the common sense.
If you post something and get ignored, it can only be one of the following:
1. Nobody encountered the problem you have (rarely).
2. Nobody knows the solution to your problem.
3. Your question has been asked million times already. Ppl are tired of answering it over and over while you're too lazy to do a search.

1. Root your phone (probably already done).
2. Edit your /system/build.prop file
3. Find the line that starts with this: ro.build.fingerprint=
4. Make it say this: ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
Save, exit, reboot.

I use Att so what do I replace verizon with?
Also my problem may be different than the other fella. I can access market and download...it's just painfully slow..sometimes downloads even times out. Thanks bro.
Do you any free apps I can edit system files with?
The fingerprint line is carrier agnostic. Market just looks for known (to Google) fingerprints. If you have one, you get to see all the protected apps that your unknown fingerprint prevented you from seeing.
The only time the carrier comes into play is when you use an app like MarketAccess to change which carrier's Android Market you are viewing. For example, Verizon's market lets you get apps that are not on any other carrier's market like Bing (for what it is worth), T-Mobile is pretty much unfiltered, and AT&T hides tethering apps.

I'd just check the basics to try to narrow it down. For example, try with and without WiFi, try after a power cycle, etc. No clue what could be slowing you down.

Official Huawei Ascend Thread

I thought I would go ahead and make a general thread for the Cricket Huawei Ascend until something more concrete comes along. My apologies to the Mods if the word “Official " is not approved. I just want a section where people can post anything and everything about thier Android Ascends since, well, as we all know, XDA rocks and people are more inclined to look here first then any other development website!
So, post up folks! There are a few of us who have these phones and are pretty well versed when it comes to the ins and outs! I will post up some small write ups and what you can do to get a little extra bang for the buck in the speed department of things and I am sure a lot of others have valuable and up to date information!
I’ll start by posting what I have said about this phone in another thread.
Rooting this phone and removing some of the pre-installed apps and files is a must.
z4 root works great with this phone. Nothing towards Superoneclick but lets face it, its way to complicated for the average user and even then, it's hard to get working. z4 root is a total win in this case, I have managed to delete half the junk the phone came with and have noticed a slight performance boost although it's not much to brag about with a 600Mhz processor. A custom kernel is almost a must as well. I can not play non market games, it's slow if you try to multitask and is all around slow coming from an expert Droid user.
Lastly, the Swipe keyboard. Who ever would want to use that! What a slow nightmare it is to try to type with Swipe in my opinion, I deleted it. The stock keyboard is not much better. Get " Better Keyboard ", it's not nearly as laggy and it can actually keep up with fast texting.
BUT, there is a bright side to all the cons ( almost all the cons )
Rooting, deleting junk and downloading Better Keyboard makes this phone an awesome entry level phone that can hold it's own with the mid range phones. It's no Evo by any means, but, it's a step closer to becoming an affordable real “smart phone ".
The ability to overclock would make it 100% indeed a smart phone and more then capable of holding it's own vs. $300+ phones. It's a project phone, you get what you pay for but, if you have a little time and patience, you too can own a get Android device with no contract, low monthly payments and hours of entertainment from the Android platform. I, am sold on this phone. I have owned other Android type phones and I can honestly say, this phone can be some competition.
Sure it has a poor quality LCD screen and can be buggy out of the box, but like I said, a little patience and determination is what makes this phone enjoyable. And, after all, it's not like it needs constant maintenance. Just a few steps to take out of the box and your set. For $150, I can't complain now that my phone is working like an Android phone should work.
Phone runs a lot smoother without all the provider apps.

Awesome a thread for the m860. I've been messing around with this phone for past couple days. I have mine rooted and all the bloatware removed. I wish someone would come out with some custom roms already for this phone. This is only my 2nd Android phone ever. The first one was the htc hero, which i could do whatever i want with it and it worked great on cricket.

I'll let you know, I'm almost finished with the theme, I just need to make the text readable in a couple of places, namely the system clock and the menus that pop up when you press the menu button...
ALSO I wanted to remind everyone, if you haven't done so already, "everyone should request support for the Ascend for the clockworkmod rom manager, that would be the real first step to getting some real modding done on the Ascend, I nearly bricked my phone a few times working on that theme, I had to reflash my phone back to stock 3 times.... which really sucks. Contact page is here for clockworkmod http://www.clockworkmod.com/contact and here is the contact email address [email protected]"
With the clockwork mod it would be very trivial to experiment with the phone, because if you/I mess up the phone wouldn't need to be flashed back to factory just flashed back to just before it was messed up, which would be awesome....

As for clockworkmod i don't think koush will consider it... :-\ because i been trying to contact him for the past two months and no answer... he even came out with a guide to do it ourselves or to send him one of our androids for a built. I mean i could understand the guy he must have other important matters to attend to but if he want it to he can make it in two days with his kind of expertise. I think were gonna have to port ourselves a flash recovery and sent it to him so he can make it official.

Those instructions aren't very detailed, they seem to assume that you've done an android build before...
He says he will do it if we loan him a phone, but I can't be without my phone for a week. The Ascend is cheap enough($109.99 on crickets website, it may have to be activated to get that price, but it's $150 in stores), I propose that we all donate a bit of money and purchase one to send to koush, the clockwork dude. It wouldn't take many people to donate for us to be able to do this...
I setup a paypal button for it
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ASD4X4W4ANV3Q
As far as when he is done with the phone, I'm up for suggestions as far as what to do with it, we could sell it and then return as much money as possible back to the donors... However if I had an extra device to mess around with I would definitely use it to learn how to make custom roms, I would use it to try to port 2.3 over to our phone. Other than that I'm up for ideas...
We have an opportunity here to make some great things happen with our phone, let us not forsake this moment!!!!
If you think this is a good idea, either link back to this post or post the paypal link with the explanation to other Ascend forums or threads...
I'm down to donate $30... I will keep everyone updated as far as how much money gets donated...

[Q] tried to re-root my sensation 4g

i have the sensation 4g and i was running the gingerbread ROM with beats audio for a month and it was going perfect, i loved it, but i wanted the ice cream sandwhich ROM and i tried to install it but i messed my phone up completely, it would loud to the beats audio screen and freeze, i left it there for about an hour and it still nothing, i wiped everything on my phone but now it says that my bootloader is locked? idk what that means, all the phone does now is freeze at the beats audio screen, its been a couple days and im going crazy, is this fixable? or should i buy a new device?
can someone please help me?
i'd ask this question in the sensation q&a forum.... might get a more targeted response.
Did you install the new firmware from this thread? It is required for ICS based roms. You also need superCID if you haven't got it already.
Look for more info in the Sensation forums.
thank you for the replies, i will take this thread to the sensation Q&A's. Yes everything i downloaded was from xda developes, i got the firmware, i think i did the super CID but im not sure if i did it right, im new to the whole root thing, like i said i rooted it a month ago with the ginigerbread that i got from here and it was flawless, i just made a mistake trying to install the ICS and i dont know what to do at this point.
Looks like your Headed in the right direction, GOOD LUCK!
Advice if you are not really understanding rooting i would suggest reading up on it, and double check the directions as you go along even if you have to copy the guy put it in a note pad and strike out anything you did after you completed it will get you comfortable and you'll do it smoother! If you get into your boot loader and it wont scroll down or up hit your designated select key it will do something and but you back to the main menu, mine locks up sometimes and i do that and i am free to roam around, also a another quick tip take your SD out of your phone and put it in a card reader there REALLY CHEAP, it should mount then you can go in there and delete the old software and put a fresh new copy in there and then put it back into your phone. do a factory reset, then wipe cache and re install. just future tips!

I agree with ride this bike. Unfortanetly I can give you my opinion but you looking and trying out some for yourself will be the best solution. Everyone has there own wants and feels like I want ics cuz I love always having the newest stuff, and even the original devs that made it have bugs cuz its new. Which means even more bugs for the aftermarket devs. So for now there probably isn't a stable version that I have seen. But this thread is where I started from just a short skim of there work they have made alot of progress and are keeping everyone updated to the latest news which is what I like. The place I started is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380478 please note you will possibly have random resets and a bunch of functions not working. Please for the love of God before you go and start your trial an error read the entire post a few times then get the software and do a nand back up. Just invade you don't like it you can go back tovwhere you left off. And also if u have a problem search that thread first to see if others are having it and might have fixed it.

[Q] Anyone local in s. Florida to help me?

Looking to meet up with a more knowledgeable member (I'll buy lunch/dinner) to help me root, cid, to be able to flash roms....
I am a little knowledgeable, but the chance of my bricking my phone does not weigh my options here at this point..there's seems to be too many steps for my background...
I have had the Inspire and been flashing roms left and right but to do this on the One X and type code etc. , is just not cutting it and need your assistance.
I appreciate any response!
Thanks in advance,
SurferJD
...I'm in Davie, FL.....
It's actually not that complicated. There is a One Click root tool that you use for root that does it all for you. You just plug your phone into any computer with the drivers installed and run the tool, and in a few minutes you are rooted, with no user input. For boot loader unlock, you will need to do something on your own but that just involves copying and pasting some text. You use a one click tool for that too. I'm sure if you search around on the root and boot loader threads you'll figure it out enough for you to do it on your own.
I'll do it if you fly me out to Florida. I'll even take a redeye so the airfare will be cheap.
There are one clicks available for root, unlock, and recovery. Just did it today. Wasn't planning tobdo it for a while, but I tried to use a keyboard mod on stock rooted, didn't work now I'm running Clean Rom 2.4 and couldn't be happier. But I have been flashing Roms for over abfew years, and many phones.

Honestly?
NEVER EVER EVER have someone else do this stuff for you.
If you ever come across a problem later on that needs to be fixed, where is your help going to be? these forums+your mind. if someone else does it for you, you are more likely to panic when something comes up.
it is INFINITELY better to understand what you are doing and do the work yourself vs having someone else do everything for you.
if it is too hard for you to accomplish after utilizing the tools and information available to you here, then you are not ready to do it or have it done to your phone. leave it stock until you ARE ready...actually ready, not just thinking you want it.

[Q] Lead Poizon WP7.8 rtm rom issues

Anybody having any issues with leads' rom launching games. I try launching angry birds, doodle god, among other games and they try to load and pretty quickly fail and launch me back to the games hub. Anybody else experiencing this? I would have posted this on the rom thread itself but since I'm new here they don't let me post questions on the dev threads.
i am using the same rom on my Arrive, im not having trouble with my games though.
when i was using the stock Mango rom, i sometimes had to reboot my phone after installing certain games or sometimes games just wouldn't open all the way. it would get to the title screen but then exit to the games hub.

Just saw this message. Tnx for the reply. Yeah it was an issue with xbox live on the phone. He fixed it pretty quickly after it happened. I'm trying out sianto's rom right now. I've only exclusively used lead poizons rom.

Dynamics ROM does not exist for the the CDMA variant of the HTC 7 Pro (Arrive). Keeping that in mind, this is an old post and this issue is no longer present in the current ROM. I merely wanted mention that if someone has an the Arrive, they should NOT be flashing the linked Dynamics ROM, unless they want an savvy brick to keep them company.

Yes this issue was resolved a while back and quickly. Tnx lead. I need to close this post down. I only replied because someone else was courteous enough to answer. I look forward to your next rom. I'm holding out till may before I get a new phone. Although I'm going to switch to AT&T and perhaps that Nokia Lumia made with aluminum materials. Thanks for all your heard work on the Arrive.
