[Q] Need help! Sending unrooted device for warranty - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello fellow G2xers
So I'm sending my G2x for warranty to T-Mobile Sometime next week since my G2x purchased last week is defective.
My question is: I' ve unropted my device via superoneclick, unfrozen bloatware, and copied the factory apps back to the system folder. Should I be concerned about anything else? Is there anyway of them finding out that my device has been rooted? I have not flashed any roms.
Thanks a lot in advance.

realistically, the only thing i would go out of my way to restore would just be the bootscreens, but even then reps arent trained to say HEY NO DUDE THIS THING'S ROOTED!
i once bricked a g1 because it was faster to do than revert to stock, just another alternative hahaha.

Im guessing thats not the right way to remove ATT stock apps? lol I been browsing forums but can find nothing for HTC Inspire 4G
If your not to sure what you should or shouldn't delete, then the best thing for you would be to just flash a stock rooted rom. Like clearD, tcp, or dilligaf.
Titanium backup is the right way. Why don't you try twopumpchump optimized stock Rom in the development section. We're very helpful over there and will walk you through it. You can flash a ROM that already has the bloat removed.

Im kinda nervous to flash roms, I spent 3 hours last night reading/prepping myself for the root, was so nervous of a brick (btw new android user came from iphone) I have a buddy who had a nexus he bricked trying to flash the cryageon rom which is a well trusted rom. Just really scared >.>
Plus will flashing a rom remove contacts ect?
It's not as hard as you think. Take your time though. Best to do your research. Check out the Rom I suggested though and drop in if you have any questions.

As long as you have them saved on your sim no. Personal data yes. Apps not if you back them up. Make a nandroid back up before flashing. All you have to do is download the rom, place it on your sd card. Then boot into recovery install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, pick the rom select yes. You just flashed a rom.. As far as I know no one has completely bricked their inspire, even the people who have had corrupted boot loaders have been able to recover.

You will need clock work mod. Just open the app and select backup current rom. It will save everything as it is now so you can return to it later if you need to.

Honestly, I haven't had a chance to sit down at my desktop and try and mess around with it, college has taken up a lot of my time. I will say its a lot more complex then people think it is. It makes me really appreciate the people who bake roms and make themes.
I will probably sit down this weekend try tweeking a few things, and hopefully get it to work with out boot looping. Makes me wish some one lived around here that could teach me a few things I am a visual learner. I will get one working though .

Sound problem on thunderbolt

My wife and I both have Thunderbolts. I have not had this problem with mine so I am curious as to if anyone else has had a problem or if maybe she just has a bad tbolt. When she is on a call just out of nowhere the person on the other end can not hear her. This has happened when she has talked to multiple people and she has had good reception when it happens. This happened stock and on BAMF so I dont think it is a ROM problem. Anyone else having a similar thing happen, or do you think she has a bad tbolt?
I have not heard of this being a widespread issue, and I keep up with a lot of the Android forums. Sounds like a dud phone to me.
That's what I was thinking as well. Looks like its back to stock then Verizon for that bolt
I've had this problem from day 1. A bunch of different techs from VZW have looked into it and changed stuff on the backend and still no luck. :-(

davidbudd1, PLEASE let me/us know if swapping out the TB and/or the SIM fixed the issue for you! Here is a thread on Android Central that we've been trying to do some testing about this issue:

I'll keep you posted on what they tryband if it fixes it. I don't have a problem with this on mine, only my wife's phone. My buddy has a tbolt also and his doesn't have this problem. So to me it sounds like a bad phone.
Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it!

OK, I remember having an issue when I originally rooted also, so I used the shipped RUU to go back to out-of-the-box stock and then reran the root process, etc, and then restored my nandroid backup. I'll make some test calls this afternoon and then report back!

I'm pretty sure the term "bricked phone" has the implication that you cannot "unbrick" the phone. If you are so nervous about bricking your phone that you have to ask how to do it, perhaps you should unroot it.
Dunk it in the toilet for a few.
Couldn't you smash the Thunderbolt with an brick?

How about flipping this up. There are too many things NOT to do... How about just learning to use root tools, doing research, following directions & understanding what you are doing to your phone.
Please remember kids, always practice safe flashings.

Yes the term "brick" would mean a phone is in a state which can not boot to normal nor boot to recovery (normally doesn't boot at all or stuck in a boot loop). If you were able to "unbrick" the phone, then it was not in a "brick" state to begin with. I guess it would have been a "near brick". Anyhow, I am sure you can "brick" anything electronic. As mentioned before, pretty sure pulling the battery when doing a PG015IMG update via HBOOT would at least "near brick" it.

Wow everyone is such a comedian.. This is my very first android and i was wondering the same question for a while.
Un Bricking does it mean that we are not capable of Un Bricking it? or does it mean that somewhere out there, there is an super android guru that can un brick the phone.. just not you, me or the devs there.
Thank you
Misterdonut...That's Wat I was trying to ask....
sent from my rooted tbolt using XDA app
A "brick" is just that, something of no value and completely unusable or recoverable. By definition, if you brick your phone, it's dead.. for good. Short of erasing the hboot/recovery partitions(which may not even be possible.. is hboot hard-coded into the phone??) You have no real need to be concerned. There *should* always be a way to recover from mishaps.
There's some talk of the latest OTA bricking rooted devices, and if that turns out to be true, then there may be cause for concern, but even then, unless you're extremely careless.. you should be fine. Just follow directions for whatever you're attempting.. seriously, it's all easy, and if you have problems, you shouldn't be rooted, anyhow.
Sent from my CM7hunderBolt using XDA App.
if you are rooted. I don't think there is anything you can possibly do to brick your phone (software wise). If in case it is "bricked" connect it to a PC and start the adb process of fixing it.

Why would you blame ROM Manager for your mistake?
A. Anytime you flash anything (even if its the correct ROM flashed the correct way (CWM)) you always assume responsibility yourself.
B. You flashed a T-mobile ROM on your AT&T Skyrocket. If done right, it usually works, but it still adds extra risk.
C. You said you were "just messing around". Anyone that doesn't want a bricked phone should take flashing or modifying anything serious...not just messing around.
D. Most of the ROMS you are supposed to flash on the SkyRocket give detailed directions in the OP. Any I have sen all say to use CWM and give great instructions.
I don't see how any of this is ROM Managers bad business? Hopefully this will be a good tale of precaution for others before they brick their phone not paying attention. Sorry to hear about your phone, but take the blame for yourself...not ROM manager.

Thanks. I'm not trying to give the guy a hard time. He just bricked (atleast soft-bricked) his phone so I'm sure he really is pissed. But blaming an app for it when it isn't the apps fault starts alot of confusion. If something really is wrong with an app, we all need to know about it so it can be tested / fixed/ avoided / reported / etc...If the fault is with the phone's owner than the phone's owner needs to take responsibility for the problem and stop blaming the creators of useful apps (and ROMS) for the problems.

It bricked because ROM manager doesn't recognize the recovery on the skyrocket. It's something in the first line of the app.
Although, I might agree with you and blame ROM manager also if it let you flash a ROM while it couldn't detect a recovery. That's just straight up ****ty oversight on the developer.

Try Samsung first. Tell them it just derped one day when you tried to turn it on. If they believe you, it might take a week or two but you'll get another phone. Samsung will just fix it and give it to the next person that has a warranty replacement as a "referbished" unit. They won't lose money and you will get a new phone. That is if they believe you.
