Jig gives phone-!-pc image. - Captivate General

So I bricked my Cappy, build 1105, stock 2.2, rooted. I get the dreaded phone-!-pc image with every button combo. I cobbled up a jig real quick, and it gives me the exact same result. Am I just hosed or is the resistance just a little off? I can adjust the resistance a bit, but if this is something one of the resident jug experts has seen before, I'd love to hear what you recommend next.
I'm of the opinion that it is not mine until I've broken it and fixed it!
Thanks!

This happened to me on my last captivate. The jig kept putting me into that screen. Try to see if odin recognizes the phone after you use a jig and get the phone-!-pc screen. If it does it will allow you to flash and you'll be fine. I flashed to stock from that screen and other users have reported the same.

I had this happen with I was flashing odin and ripped the usb cord out on my 1102. I closed odin, removed the usb, reopened odin then used the jig. The jig displayed the error still. I then plugged the usb back in with odin opened and odin recognized my phone while still displaying the error. I was able to flash with odin like this and it worked as it should.

I have had odin recognize my phone while it was on this screen, I was able to flash UCKF1 one click aswell.

Thanks for all the responses! Since Odin got me to this sad pass, and I never got the three button fix working, should I use the version of Odin that is described in this thread to get things going again?

Otherwise, I think I'll try Odin One Click again. Thanks!

[Q] Did I fully brick my phone?

I was updating to froyo using the Odin installer and for some reason it stalled. I waited 10 minutes and nothing happened, it was stuck on DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!! aaand being the genius that I am reset the Odin installer and phone...now I get nothing. The phone is completely unresponsive, no ! screen or anything.
Am I screwed?
edit: sorry for posting this in the wrong forum, please move to Q&A if a mod gets a chance.
close EVERYTHING, take everything out of your phone (sim, battery, and sd card.) then put the battery in but DONT TURN IT ON. have your usb cable ready. hold the two volume buttons down, and then plug in your usb cable to the phone (it should be plugged into your comp) WITHOUT PRESSING ANY POWER BUTTONS. if you get back into downloader mode, you are fine and can then restore using odin or the i click restore
hmmm, well try this take out the battery sim card and ex sd if u got one, open odin, put the battery back in and plug the usb in while holdin the volume buttons, aka download mode... sometimes it doesnt work the first time just try it a couple more...
I did this with my phone. If nothing comes on screen when you plug in the USB cable and entering recovery and download mode don't work, then take thye phone back to AT&T, they accepted my bricked phone back. Just act dumb like you have no clue why it's broken.
I have a similar issue, however I can still get into the downloader..but it just hangs when restoring on factoryfs.rfs....
Any suggestions on that?

Are you doing the method where you remove the battery first, hold the volume buttons (without power) and plug into USB? That *SHOULD* get you into download mode- if not, maybe check a different USB port.
Up and running, with Froyo to boot! Thanks again and good luck to those with problems. Thanks for the welcome again and I've made a donation in the site for saving my ass $500

Can you clarify? Did you successfully upgrade to froyo or incur and error somewhere in the process. When you say that "nothing happens" what exactly does that mean?
What does ODIN show when you try to upload?

Upgrade to Froyo successfully. Want to go back to 2.1 after using One Click Odin JF6 rom, it never ends. Following on from here, probe with OCD Froyo, eclair, odin and any rom could do to finish flashing. He stays in zImage and shows the status bar.
Any idea I can try?

Guys, good news! I recovered the phone and install Froyo. My error was that it came to how to download and then disconnect the USB and reconnected.
Joe K Captivate works perfect in Argentina because it uses the same bands as AT & T, send me a friend who lives in NYC, obviously unlocked.
Thank you all for your concern, I return to live!

Possibly Bricked. Completely baffled right now.

I flashed GR-11 the other day and everything was great, but decided to try Mosaic.
I attempted to use Odin One click and got a soft brick. Used my jig to get back into download mode, attempted to reload stock 2.1 and Odin claimed said everything went fine but now my phone is completely unresponsive.
I've tried battery pulls, 3 button combo, my jig. The screen i black and I can't get any response from the phone.
Anyone ran into something similar? No any possible solution?
give these a shot,
1
remove battery count to 5 put in.
DONT TOUCH ANY BUTTON
try jig
2
remove battery
put in jig
put in battery
3
remove battery
plug USB into PC and Phone
hold both volume buttons
put in battery.

if you had to use .tar files, then it wasnt a ONE CLICK!
this whole ODIN thing has really gotten people baffled lately....i dont get it
if it used any files at all it wasnt odin one click
it was odin flashing utility
BIG DIFFERENCE
odin flashing utility can flash ANYTHING.
odin one click only flashes one thing (no choice) and is ONE CLICK.
you flashed something with a secondary bootloader.
mixed and old one with a new one
you have a brick.
call for warranty and play dumb. "it stopped working"
Possibly Bricked. Defiantly Bricked.
Did you by chance use the one with 3 button fix?
Try pressing the volume down + menu button, then press power and hold all three. Worked for me and I was getting nothing.

This 100% sounds like a hard brick. I'd like to offer a free JTAG service on it if you are out of warranty on the phone. PM me with any questions if you are interested. I just repaired a Captivate in this same condition earlier today.

Black screen with phone exclamation triangle connecting to computer?

Bricked two stock ee4 phones today flashing jt's voodoo root kernal using the odin in pda mode. Any idea what this screen is and how I can stay away/fix it? after flashing it would fail and stay in this screen. I could get them into download mode but odin would just fail. Tried using the link to the team black hat back up and samsung restore program but that also didn't work the screen would not go away. Any ideas? Thanks

That's what the phone will show whenever you tried to flash something in Odin and it failed. Its a soft brick, nothing major to worry about, you just have to figure out how to reflash the phone. Honestly, nothing you do is a major problem to worry about, as long as you can still get the phone into download mode.
Odin can be really finicky, try using different usb ports. Or even uninstall the device drivers for the USB host and let them reinstall. Remember to close Odin and open it again each time you try, and make sure to check the hash of jt's package you're trying to flash, you may simply have gotten a bad download. Failing that, you may need to try a different computer, or give Heimdall a shot. I'm not sure why these USB flashing utilities can be so finicky, but they can. Rest assured though that the problem is almost certainly not with your phone as long as you can put it in download mode. All you've gotta do is keep trying to find the right combination of flashing program, computer/OS, and usb port, and make sure you have a good file. I know it sounds silly and like a bunch of work, but at least the phones are okay.
I'm used to using odin with my fascinate idk why this phone is kicking my butt ha luckily verizon replaced both phones for me bc they were unable to flash them back to stock as well. His kernal worked once on the first phone then the recovery did the soft brick when I tried to just flash his kernal on the second one it soft bricked again. Thanks for the reply I'm just worried bc I didn't buy my phone from verizon I was lucky enough to have them replace it

Thanks very much for pointing this out. I had played with my phone for several hours after soft-bricking it in this manner before finding this post. Reading this made a light bulb go on over my head, and I tried again plugging my phone's USB cable into another port - one directly connected to my PC's mainboard. My flashing problems with Odin magically went away! Not sure I'd have considered this without your feedback.

Odin not working

I tried using odin to go back to jf6 and its all good until it says Do not turn off target. then it stays there and when i try to reboot my phone is bricked, any advice. also please dont close this topic, i cant post in the development forums and all i want is some help. so how do i get out of a brick and odin i897ucjf6-final-ocd isnt working?
Is it hard or soft bricked? Soft bricked phones are not difficult, in fact, I'm working on a one-click unbrick for soft bricked phones right now.
If it's hard-bricked, black screen, acts like it's off, then you've got no choice other then JTAG or repair center.

Yes, I've seen this too and it scared me a little the first time. It's most likely just a soft-brick. I take it you see some icon about Phone != Computer? I had this problem using Odin One-Click for JF6 when I didn't follow the instructions exactly because I thought some steps were unnecessary. Try this:
1. Power off unit and remove all connections.
2. Remove battery, sim card and SD card.
3. Connect USB cable to computer.
4. Start Odin One-Click
5. Re-insert battery only.
6. Hold down Vol up+down.
7. Connect USB cable to Captivate while still holding volume buttons.
8. Start the Odin download.
And you should now be back it download mode and loading up JF6. Once it reboots, you should have a Stock AT&T Captivate.
If other versions of odin3 or oneclicks don't work try A10 TOOLBOX/ CAptivate toolbox. Used it over 50 times with all different. Revision versions. Works like a charm. alot of Galaxy s / varients are cursed with this Odin/computer dreadful recognize problem. Also keep in mind Odin may choose to only work for one particular USB port. i have tried both download mode and recovery and just trying to let it boot up normal and it will not do anything in all three just a black dead screen
Try leaving the battery in when you go to download mode. Also leave it in when flashing.
if it wont even power on in any way or go into the download mode you might be bricked...I did this before and I had to exchange it at Verizon..luckily since it wouldnt turn on they couldnt tell what I did to it...hope you can get your issue resolved

1/2 Brick
Hi
Sorry to hear about your issue. I am at half brick now. Been at multiple spots learning here but never completely no visability! 3/4, 7/8, right now in a flash it does not see my phone (no network) data side is fine but can not get or receive calls. It is not the SIM card (according to VZW). Data side works fine 4G etc, emails but no phone. A great PDA but not a phone. No one has answers but I belive to be a cp_modem.bin issue download hangs at around 98% in what does a boot 2nd boot on the screen in the download then says:
Wait, VIA Booting ..
VIA rest done. ..
Downloading to VIA...
To everyone the {Kangfuscius.tar} has helped me when I thought all hope was lost, even in a partial download it helped to bring me back.
Any suggestions on files for the phone tab in ODIN all I can think of is, it can't get worse. The FEDEX guy kow knows me by name between the Fascinate's and now I guess the Charge.
Any help appreciated,

I don't know why your phone is booting into 'VIA' mode and don't even know what that is so I couldn't say a fix other than odining the usual stock rom/pit combo (leaving the battery in when flashing in odin also and uncheck the 'auto reboot' option)... also phone tab/button is NOT supposed to be touched in odin, only PDA, PIT if needed, and Start
Where did it fail in the Odin flash? The only way you should be bricked is if it failed while flashing boot.bin or sbl.bin, otherwise, it should still go to download mode. Have you tried using one of the Force Download Mode jigs/dongles that the GSM models use to get into download mode?
i don't recall where it failed at but it will not not respond to anything with batt or without where can i find the gsm software i will give it a try before i call insurance a link or anything would be great

SGS2 is not equivalent. Just search for galaxy s download jig and i'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about. It is the same thing for all the SGS phones, and some have said it works on the 4G versions of the phones as well.

Hi, I had the same thing happen to my first Charge. I could not boot my phone even to the samsung logo, so I searched around the Internet. Somehow I think it was the Captivate trick worked. I took out sim, battery, sdcard>plugged in usb to computer>held up and down volume together>put in battery; miraculously it went to download. I tried every other combination beforehand and none worked, so I know this method works.
Unfortunately this was before we had IMNUTS Pit file and a odin flash would not change anything so I could not recover and I flashed a Pit that was not for the Charge. Wrong answer! After that it was in the non-boot state again but the same method above would not work any longer. If your phone does not work with the method above, maybe something went wrong with the repartition and pit file. That is just a guess though!
well the jig hasn't worked yet i am running right at 300k tomorrow i am going to get a 1k and add that in also and see if that helps. also pulling all the cards and the battery didn't work either. this is not looking good i am up for any ideas that anyone has

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-4...talling-guide/ )
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.

Dustin, were you able to get it working? I'm in the same boat. Right after boot.bin it failed. Which was within seconds after hitting the start button in Odin. Verizon won't honor my warranty, because I didn't buy the phone from them.
Hard Brick Fixed
If you are truly hard bricked (no download mode, no power, no nothing), you can get it fixed for $40 at mobiletechvideos.com. I flashed a file that didn't work unless I took off the md5 extension. Big mistake. After trying absolutely everything, including surfing the internet for a day, spending almost $20 to get 2 day delivery for a USB Jig that did absolutely nothing, I sent my phone to mobiletechvideos.com. Josh brought it back from the dead; don't know how, but it was the best $40 I ever spent! I think there aren't any reviews because there haven't been enough newbies like me who just can't wait for Gingerbread and bricked their Samsung Charge. Putting my review there tonight...should be first one. The reviews from all the other phones he has unbricked convinced me to try and I'm glad I did.
Many people have hard bricked their phones trying to downgrade. Give the jig a shot, but don't hold out much hope.
Personally I think there is something being overlooked during the downgrade process... Too many people are hard-bricking during the process for it to be coincidence.
Oh yes

Doing so NOW! For the same issue. My PC decided to spontaneously reboot during ODIN while flashing a ROM on My Droid Charge. Josh was quick to respond to EVERY single annoying question I had about their service. So I am doing so. If it works, I'll tell you, I'm adding a link to their site in my signature on every forum I'm a member of, even forums I have for my daughter's schooling hahaha! They deserve the references just for being quick to respond. Thanks for the info man, props to you.
