[App] SyncIt Public Beta - Android Apps and Games

*** THIS IS A BETA PROGRAM ***
(Though it is fully function)
SyncIt is a basically a Dropbox extention, it uses the Dropbox API and your Dropbox Account to keep any specified file updated in you Dropbox as well as on any other Android devices with SyncIt installed.
What this means is say you have to have a certain game always up to date on all of your android devices? Well simply select it in SyncIt and have it installed on both devices and SyncIt will monitor that file and keep it up to date on both devices.
*** How To Use ***
Device 1 - Simply use the built in file explorer to select any file or folder(Pro) you wish to sync. They will automatically be uploaded as the files are updated. If you wish to add another device first go and long-press the given file/folder and click "Backup" for all of our files/folders listed.
Device 2-Ect - Simply login to, the files will be downloaded. Then go long press each file/folder and click "Restore". Once done for each file/folder you are ready to go. This is a one time process.

This is a great idea, thanks! I'm gonna try this on my Atrix/Cap. Does anybody know what directory most games save their progress files to.? Lately I have been playing PvZ, Peggle & Cut the Rope.

This app supports both regular file system and root file system. For plants vs zombies it is /data/data/com.popcap.pvz/ but I personally have not gotten pvz to work. But I used the hd version n regular version. If u have the sane version it should work. In the pvz dir ure gonna wanna sync /files/userdata/user.dat n user1.dat(there will b more if u have more users)

I like the idea of this app, but can't completely test it out because my tablet is at home at the moment. I have some questions. I have tested sharing a file, but it hasn't been uploaded to dropbox. I just have the SyncIt folder and the xml file in my dropbox. Do I have to have it installed on another device before it will upload? Any ideas what files I need to sync Angry Birds Rio and Cut the Rope? I was thinking about just syncing titanium backup files, but the actual data files would be more convenient.

No it should upload with just one device, but the version up right now is quite outdated now. I will upload a new version hopefully tomorrow. With this release there will b a paid ($1) n free version. Both versions are fully functional with the free version being linked to syncing 5 files. The full is unlimited with the additional feature if syncing while folders (dynamically).
As for angry birds this app works great for it (i use it for this my self lol) u would want to sync.
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/.flurryagent.*
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/highscore.lua
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/settings.lua
Syncing these work, idk if they are all required tho.

I would be happy to pay for an app that does this. I am actually surprised it hasn't got more attention. I imagine google eventually adding a native solution much like how apple has icloud to backup/sync application data. Anyway, I still haven't been able to get it to upload anything. The xml file in dropbox lists the file name I tested, but that file isn't in the SyncIt folder in my dropbox. I then deleted the first file I chose to sync in the app, and then chose the 3 files you mentioned for Angry Birds. However, the xml file has not been updated to reflect the new files, and nothing has been uploaded to dropbox. I'm running a version of CM7.1 (Android 2.3.4) on my Evo. I suppose I can just wait for the updated version. I do have some suggestions for future versions of the app. Using a file explorer to share with the app only lets you choose one file at a time (unless there is some other file explorer program that will let you). If you allowed file choosing within the app, you could probably allow for folders and multiple files. Also, what would be really cool is if you could just choose from a list of apps the data you would like to sync. I assume this is possible since Titanium Backup lets you backup and restore app data associated with an app. Also, a few more control settings would be nice like only sync while connected to wifi and/or while plugged in.
EDIT: also, every time I turn my screen on a get a Loading Finished bubble a few seconds later.

Yes SyncIt runs every time u turn your phone on or off(thats when it checks if there is anything new). While this sounds like a bad idea(battery wise) the way ive implemented it it uses very little. I will most likely remove the "Loading Finished" toast.
As i said in my prior post(but did not elaborate on, or maybe i didnt say it. im to lazy to look xD). The new version will support adding files from external file explorers as well it will have a internal file browser that supports root. With it you will be able to select files(not multiple tho, maybe in an update) and folders. When selecting a folder it will sync all files in all sub folders up to a certain cumulative size(dont wanna kill dropbox lol).
IDK why my ur version wouldn't work, tho to clear it out completely u would need to delete the syncit folder in dropbox online then clear the cache of SyncIt. Otherwise it will just download the version from dropbox. New version will have an option to clear all.

Will this work with every game bc I have to admit their are quite a few games that I hate having to start over again just bc I got another android device to play it on.

Honestly its trial & error. I have tried with two games Plants vs Zombies and Angry Birds, PvZ did not work(very sad about this) but Angry Birds did. These are the only two games ive tried.

Well, I eventually tried this on my asus transformer and got it to upload to Dropbox. It did start syncing to my phone and all my progress from angry birds on my tablet synced over to my phone. However, when I completed a level on my phone, that would not sync back to the tablet. I did get my phone to upload to Dropbox, though, after reinstalling the program. However, when I turn my tablet on, my tablet won't download the from Dropbox. When I open angry birds back up, none of the progress from the the phone is there. Then, I go to my phone and my old progress from the the tablet is synced back to the phone and I have to complete the level again. I will keep testing to see if I can get it to work correctly. There are definitely some bugs. Sometimes I get a force close on my phone. Also there is a big delay in asking for root permissions. I completely uninstalled/reinsalled it from my phone yesterday and it wasn't till today that it asked for root permissions.

will this remain free after the beta period ?

great idea. i've been thinking about this for a while. how about making it with an extensible architecture so that people can register plugins for certain games such as 'PvZ' or 'Angry Birds' with options such as HD, non-HD (tablet/phone) free/paid, etc... and with multiple (relative?) paths pointing to the directories with files that need to be sync'ed. this way, people won't have to manually add directories. this would probably drive more user adoption.
i used to do this on my ubuntu laptops to sync firefox pref's and such. it's great that you actually implemented it. thanks!

I thought i had discussed tho i guess not. After beta there will be a Paid and Free version. As of right now free version will be limited to selecting specific files and a total of 5(maybe more) to sync. The paid version will be able to sync whole folders(as long as the total size of its sub files are under a set limit, dont wanna kill ur phone/battery/dropbox lol) and an unlimited # of files.
As to the user below "Plugins" would be easy to do, hard part would be distributing them.

Look above , tho what do you mean such as "HD, non-HD) ect?
Also update on SyncIt it is damn near done, i should have finished the RC already actually. All functionality is done(minus plugin architectural mentioned above), i simply need to restructure it so that all the functions run in the background. Which in the scope of everything is fairly easy.
EDIT: Also i have no intention of charging more then $1 for this .

Ha, ya near me too it. I'd been thinking of this as a backup app for a while. Now that I have a tablet I started playing with the dropbox api to write it. Looking forward to testing it.
Can this handle file system files (ie use root)? Does it sync the ownership/permissions correctly?

Perfect timing for me - looking into a tablet and was wondering how to sync things. When this works (still in beta, so bound to be bugs), this will cover anything file based!
My initial thought that I was wondering how I would deal with - how to synch my location in eBooks. Now just need to see where that info is stored in iReader & Cool Reader & Kindle (for non-kindle books).
--
Edit: With only 1 device (for testing) is there a way to tell the phone - "Go look for new versions of the files in dropbox now!" So when/if I manually change something via my pc, it will copy to the right place on my phone?

Thanks
This app is a great idea! A little buggy on the stock evo4g running 2.2
Tends to force close periodically after locking up. Have had to uninstall/reinstall three times.
Are you anywhere near an update?

ROM Upgraders - How do you deal with settin up your own stuff?

So Seems like with every other Eye blink people around here Flash in and out ROMS.
So I see all the cool things in the new ROM images and want to get the latest and greatest.
Though I hesitate as I really dont like having to setup the phone afterwards.
I install about 5 other Apps on the phone, do some of my own tweaking, etc and I'm back up and running.... Takes a few more hours after the flash.
Is there any way to Automate this?
Anyway to Use an Existing ROM and then Cook my own stuff into it without having to cook/dump the original?

You can try Sprite Backup...
cheers
No backup solution works when a major base upgrade is attempted.
I have cabs for all the apps I run on my SD card along with spb p+ backup and voice dialer recognition file backups. Then, I go through a list I've written out & install everything by hand. Pita for sure but I can get through it in 1-2 hours.
I cook in my own settings by doing diffs and regdumps before flashing. Makes my life much easier. The level of expertise to do so isn't much more advanced than cooking your own rom and creating your own OEM package w/registry dumps.
Hope this helps..
I use PocketPC Installer from here http://www.pocketpctoolkit.com/WhatIsIt1_PPCInstaller.php
The PocketPC Installer is unique.
Simply drag'n'drop your PocketPC / Windows Mobile .cab file & data files into the PocketPC Installer, and it will compress all of your files into two types of self-extracting Installer files.

An installer .exe file for your PocketPC / Windows Mobile device
This is a single.exe file, which you run on your PDA, which contains compressed copies of all of your .cab files/other files, plus the code to required to intelligently install them onto a device.
You could put this one file as a download on your website, or put it on a memory card. The user would just need to insert the memory card into their device to install your suite of .cab files / data files.
An installer .exe file for your Desktop
This is an .exe that you run on your PC, which also contains compressed copies of all of your .cab files/other files within it. This .exe will copy your files onto your device, and start installing them.
Let's have a look at an example.
Here, we have dragged a total of 6.9Mb .Net CF / application .cab & data files into the PocketPC Installer.
Two types of compressed, standalone installer .exe files.
You just have to decide which of them is more useful for you, and ignore the other.

Truth be told I'm like Sleuth, I have all my apps as CAB files on my storage card. You could take all your settings and put them into a registry file but I'm too lazy to do that so instead I have a text file which reminds me all the tweaks/settings I like to have.

That app looks AWESOME! But it also comes with an AWESOMELY LARGE price! Would love to get it with a 50% discount...but not sure I can drop that kind of $$$ for the app.
Me personally... i have made 1 big cab file to do all my dirty work.. its about 3meg in size.. but it sets up my email, rings, sounds, apps, etc... what i did with **most** apps was extract them from their oem cab and put them in my cab.. so i have 1 cab file that does almost everything..
I too have all my cabs on the storage card in three folders - Apps, Games, and Setup.
In my setup folder are cab's that I have created (or pilfered) to do my favoured reg tweaks, and some backup files for individual apps (like PocketBreeze, Movie Guide, an OPML file for RSS feeds, etc, etc.) These get installed straight after flashing a ROM. (I need to get round to doing what shogunmark has done and collect these all into one cab though...)
I install other cabs as I need to use them when I'm out and about (all of the filenames have my registration numbers added to them).
Oh and before I flash any ROM, I add my personal WIMP package to it - that populates the "Owner Information" with my personal details, and installs and registers the "Where is my Phone" application.

Looks pretty cool, though not at $75!! I dont flash that often.
Looks like I have to keep my CABs laying around... Put that 6gb Storage Card to use.
Few weeks ago I upgraded from Helmi's rom to Custel's (wanted to try that new AT&T radio out). I installed all my app's and tweaks, but started having SOD's. I flashed back to original rom in between, flashed back to Custel's rom and installed all apps and tweaks again... Again started having SOD's (this install was my fault that i didn’t test enough is the SOD problem still there, before installing my programs).
Ok, then i thought i flash Dutty's nice lite rom. Flashed that and installed all my programs and tweaks AGAIN... And now the best thing, I’m not kidding; at the same moment I got everything installed FINALLY, I refreshed Kaiser upgrading page on XDA and there it was, A NEW IMPROVED VERSION OF THE DUTTY'S LITE ROM... For real i was cursing out loud!!!
Then i just thought, F*CKIT, i have been installing for Saturday and now Sunday too, my GF is totally pissed off already, no harm of doing this once AGAIN…
No flashing for me until major upgrade comes out… Kaiser is now running smoothly though, no problems at all.
I'm using CabviaActivesync which is free and allows you to right click on any cab and automatically send it to the phone. Makes it quick.
http://www.modaco.com/content/Windo.../CABviaActiveSync-FREE-Edition-now-available/
Right now, I do everything manually but I am also looking into creating one big cab file with all my software in there.
Truth be told, I do the 'cab' backup folder on my SD card like most of you do; and I end up setting everything up through the next few days as I notice things that are not how I like them.
ie: turn off Txt Message Sent notification, reinit touchflow, slide sound off, put all my contacts BACK into the fav contact list, reassign pictures to them, etc....
So, I'm basically in the same boat; as soon as I get it JUST the way I want it, I reflash it. We are all victims I tell you; victims of our own progress.
Cabs on your SD card is the way to go. I just downloaded pocketpc installer and used it to install a lot of cabs... and I must say, I am impressed. I'm going to keep my cabs on my SD card (just in case), and but use my new installer after flashes. w00t!

Interesting thing about that...Spb software used to install a fully regged version when you put your serial in the installer prompt...so then I'd just capture those CABS and never have to worry about it again.
But now they've gotten wise with their new versions and all putting your serial in the installer does is writes it to your registry if your device is connected...*sigh* Ironically as best I can tell the serials aren't tied to your name/device in any way (for Spb software) so its not exactly like they're combating piracy since all it'd take is one person releasing their serial number and everyone could use it.
Anyway...*grumble grumble* I miss the days of having all pre-regged cabs...
I tend to copy my startmenu/programs folder of shortcuts to storage card. Many applications run without installing so in preserving their shortcuts, you save alot time. Those in main memory which i have to install again, i keep as cabs.
Also i use iLauncher (other launchers like spb pocket plus etc also can do the same), the icons linked to the shortcuts on storage card, i save its configuration file. After a new rom, all i have to do is install ilauncher, restore my settings and i'm almost set to go.
Have to re-key in all my serials again tho.

[TOOL] iAPK Suite v0.9 - Drag & Drop APK Installer

Alright, straight to it.
This is iAPK Suite 0.9. The newest incarnation of iAPK. It's functions have been vastly increased, while keeping it's sole purpose still unique.
The new version of iAPK merits it a new name, iAPK Suite. This means it not only installs APKs, it is a full fledged manager. It installs, deletes, backups, and restores APKs from your respective Android devices. Aside from being drag 'n' drop friendly, i've incorporated a tremendous amount of useful features. Hell, it even signs APKs with a simple click.
There are currently two versions. iAPK Suite and iAPK Mini. The Suite version allows full APK management, while the mini just has simple drag and drop as well as the docking panel without any other APK functions which makes the file size practically cut in half.
Mind you, the usage of this application gets a lot easier when you learn all of the shortcuts I implemented to making things a lot quicker. A wiki will be made to explore everything about iAPK and how to use every function i've built into it, even the not so obvious ones

Pretty cool. Heres another alternative i use. I just created a batch file where i made it pickup a file as an argument and "adb install -r" it. I compiled it to an exe and gave it an icon and set it as a default program for apk's. Here it is for those interested. You can either set it as default program for apk filetype, or just drag an apk into it.

I like it. Simple and nice interface and easy to work with it

Hey xda inhabitants!
Here's something I made to shorten APK installing. This is my take on an easy drag and drop apk installer with quick and to the point functions. It's very simple and straight forward, drag and drop your APK onto my program, and it will install it over ADB to your phone! Very simple as opposed to using the 0.04 second long browse button, Dragging and dropping saves a bunch of time!

Hmm..You guys are right.. it does not support multiple apks... It might since it's through adbs command, not sure if that would work. But I have a method of making multiple apks work at once. Lemme throw that on the table.

i am able to use the sdk tools and ADB can see my phone but the app keeps saying failed
any ideas would be great.

I did some quick debugging and I found out that I broke the single APK installer by adding the multiple batch one. Damn lol. Well for now, untill I release the completely working one, just drop two or more apks on it for them to properly work. That is an error on my part, must have forgot an if/then/else somewhere along the road, I'll fix it now. Should be compiled within an hour. Thanks
Terribly sorry for the confusion. I have fixed the weird problem. Everything now works as it should. Please re-download v0.2 from the original post.
This is a really Nice utility
I have a couple of requests. Feel free to make them come true
1. Make it so if set as a default app for apks, when i double click an apk it launches this program, installs the apk, then shuts the program.
2. Make it so it detects if adb is currently in $path, u can do that using something like errorlevels in batch. So if it detects it, then it shouldnt have to extract the files such as adb and the dlls.
Just my $0.02
Great!! thanks!

This.. is not the easiest thing to do, since I would now need to make my app utilize commandlines in win shells to allow me to add apk file locations to a command to be installed quickly. It's definitely possible, but unfortunately i can't complete it within an hour so, that'll take a bit longer.

This is definitely an easy task, never thought of that, consider it done as I have the exact code in my head
I'll compile everything when I get homerz.
$0.2 is actually 20 cents... wow. You put a lot thought into this one. lol
Anyway, keep in mind, I can do..just about ANYTHING with this app. So don't hold back with your suggestions.

Anything? Lol (I won't go there!) What is the advantage to this verses using su file manager to just copy and paste within the phone? I guess I should just try it out, but didn't want to waste my time cause I have no problems with adb commands, but some of my friends might like it! Thanks!

[APP][WINDOWS] Final Fantasy Dimensions Save Editor

EDIT:
I have discontinued work on this project, partially due to free time/Square Enix and their insistence on blocking the use of xposed framework. I can't be bothered to deal with having to turn off xposed and reboot every time I want play/test out the changes made with the editor. Other things in RL have also taken most of my time, so I am releasing Source Code in this post for anyone who wants to take a crack at it.
This editor was made using Visual Basic 2010
This is my first time coding my own program. It is written with Visual Basic 2010, I might switch over to C# once I learn more about it.
This requires a rooted device to work. I have an idea on how to make it work on non-rooted devices, but I do not have any that are non-rooted to test on. If you do not have root and want to test, send me a pm so I can see if we can work it out.
Let me know if you would be interested to test newer versions. I have 3 testers now, and am looking for up to 3 more.
I was inspired by the Final Fantasy III Save Editor:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763729
And also by the port Kameo did of Thundaga - Final Fantasy III Save Editor:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176595
This save editor is for Final Fantasy Dimensions for the Android OS. It may also work on the iOS version as well. I have not tested it, so I am not totally sure.
This program is in beta, and may contain some bugs. Please make sure to backup your save file before using. I am planning on implementing an auto backup when you save the file, however I have not gotten to that yet. Hopefully it will be ready for the next release.
I revamped the whole thing. Added a bunch of stuff. Still have not done the save backup, but it is still planned for in a future update.

Note: This version has a lot of improvements, but the code is very sloppy. It should work, but on my computer there is a noticeable load time. After it is loaded though, it runs fine, even switching between save slots. I am looking into learning C#, and I have a friend who is willing to help me find ways to speed it up. Hopefully the next release will run much smoother.
Current Version:
2.00 (editor says 1.0.7, forgot to change it) (beta) - 09/14/2013
Things that can currently be edited

Max Job Level
AP
JP
Gil
Max Spells (This gives you all White Magic, Black Magic, and Summon spells. Must have ability to use higher level spells)
All Abilities/All F-Abilities button (Includes debug abilities)

Edit any save slot
Still need to implement:
Backup of original save
Inventory
Changing party members (mixing Light and Darkness, or adding temporary characters back in)

TRANSFERRING SAVE FILE FROM DEVICE
######################################
You will need a Rooted Device for this (I am looking into being able to edit saves made from Carbon, but I need a non-rooted
device for testing.) I recommend using either Root Explorer (paid app) or Root Browser Lite (free app) from the Google Play
store for finding the save file, and replacing it. Either transfer the file to your SD card to transfer via USB cable,
or transfer to SD and upload to Dropbox/Box/Other Cloud Service.
The save file should be located at:
/data/data/ com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp/files/save.bin
It has also been reported to be at:
data/user/0/ com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp/files/save.bin
#################
USING THE EDITOR
#################
1. Backup current save beforehand, I have not coded in the backup script yet.
2. Choose the Open button.
3. Make whatever changes you want.
4. If you go above an allowed number (i.e. 20 for Max Job Level) it will change it to Max allowed by game.
5. Hit save.
########################################
TRANSFERRING SAVE FILE BACK TO DEVICE
########################################
Copy the file back to your SD card, and move it back to the folder you found it. Make sure permissions of the file
are set to either rw rw r or rw rw rw (the one I always use).
Changelog:
9/13/13 - 2 (editor says 1.0.7)
Fixed bugs I had here and there. I stopped working on this for awhile, as I kept having issues with Diana and Alba. Finally figured it out.
Added ability to modify any of the save slots, instead of just 1.
Added Equipment editing (this really slows down the original save file load, but once loaded it works fine)
Added F-Abilities/Abilities/Spells checkbox to max them out.
New design with current party and separated parties.
4/14/13 - 1.01
Fixed bug with Nacht's last 3 jobs.
Took out bad code for detecting if Job Level is higher than Max Job Level. Just make sure to keep it under the Max one for now until I can fix it.
Testing out Equipment editing and Maxing out Abilities/Skills. Should be ready for next release.
4/10/13 - 1.00 Initial Release
After editing and pasting the files back to /data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.FFIII_GP/files/save.bin
I start the game and get an white screen. Did i do something wrong?
That would be my fault. I copied and posted the directions from the final fantasy iii editor. It should go to
com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp folder, not ffIII
Also make sure that you have fully exited out of the game before moving the save file over. Either use a task manager to close it, or go to the app manager and choose force stop. If the game is still running it can cause problems.

I probably gonna try it out again and starting a new game then save it. Then drag the save file out then use your program to edit the gil and test it out.

Woot! I finally got it to work. I'm happy because put my time in the game and lost everything when my phone froze at boot up screen. I had to use Odin to go back to stock and re-root and took some time.
For people who are new to this. This is how I did it.
1. I'd started a new game because I had to start over. Then, saved my game.
2. Task manager and scrolled down to FFD and force stop the game.
3. Installed "root browser" so i get get access to FFD save file. Open root browser clicked on /data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp/files
4. Copy "save.bin" from that folder and place in your extSD or sdcard.
5. Open "Final Fantasy Dimensions Save Editor" and Open the copy of save.bin. Example change Gil from 300 to 999999 then save afterward.
6. Get access to root browser clicked on /data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp/files. Delete the save.bin in folder.
7. Move the edit save.bin file to /data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.ffl_gp/files.
Start game and you should be ready to go. All thanks to KeylanHalfdan for letting us use his program. Rep ++

Good to hear that you got it working.
By the way, found a bug in the editor for Nacht when editing his AP for his last 3 jobs I had the offsets wrong. It it fixed in my latest test, so it will be fixed in the next release.
I'm having a problem with a certain save file. If I open it and immediately resave it without changing anything, my characters' job levels are raised to the max JVL.
The strange thing is that I did not have this problem with some previous save files I tried. Two different conditions come to mind: This save file is of the light side characters, while the previous one was of the dark side, and now I have a 5th character, while I think I didn't have one before.
I'm adding the problematic save file in case someone wants to test it.
By the way, could you share how the checksum algorithm works?

Hmm, that is interesting. It is doing it on my end too. Not sure why. It also seems to writing to the first byte. I will have to recheck my code. I tested and it doesn't happen when Elgo was in the party, but it does with Eduardo add a frog.
Give me some time to check it out and I will get back to you.
EDIT:
Not sure why the code was not working. It should only change the Job Level to the same as Max when it is higher than it. It was allowing me to put 1, 2, 10-19, but 3-9 would change it to the max. I removed the check for now, so be careful not to put in a number higher than the Max. It should be working other than that. Also added the fix for Nacht's jobs in this release.
Equipment and Max Abilities/Skills should be soon. Equipment is in testing, and I am in the process of coding the Max Abilities/Skills checkboxes.

I grinded some AP, changed jobs, and tried editing the save file again. The bug did not reappear.
Then I played some more, and the bug started happening again, but only with the first character.
I noticed the first byte getting changed too. I thought it was intentional, but since you mentioned it, I guess it wasn't. It seems to be harmless anyway. The game overwrites it as soon as you save again.

That's good to hear.
Currently working on new version. This will allow for editing all characters at once (including temporary characters), as well as equipment. Also it has a button to have all skills (Holy blade, bardsong, dragon arts), f-abilities, and abilities (including debug abilities).
The main code for all these parts is done, I am just working on getting them to all work together. Hopefully within a week version 2 will be ready for testing by my testers.
Still looking for more testers if anyone is interested.

Item editing will be a lot of coding. There are 510 different item possibilities, and I haven't yet tried to determine Max number of slots, but I know it is a lot. I plan on doing it, but it will be one of the last things I do.
The equipment editing will be available soon though.

Confused with error
Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me using this application. I do the entire process (move save.bin to windows, change values, move back to save folder, etc) but when I run the FFD app, the screen just stays blank (white) and no music or graphics are shown. I've tried using different types of these save editors on FFD and it always does the same thing. The only way to get the game working again is to restore it using Titanium Backup, I was hoping someone here would have some insight on the problem.
Thank you for any help you can give me!

I am not sure, I have never had that happen before.
Are you force stopping the game (either through a task manager of the app manager) after saving, or just hitting the home button?
Are you overwriting the save game in the save folder, or deleting the old one and then putting the new one in?

Since you didn't mention it in the op... I will assume that you're probably forgetting to re-change the file permissions AND ownership when you place the file back to the original directory.
It seems no big deal but I have seen too many ppl mistakenly change the ownership to another app than the right one and things get messed up!
Use the other file to guide you on which permissions are required and which app owns the file!
Btw: I've finished the game already but messing around with the gil and AP sure saved me a lot of time! Thank you op!

Sign Petition: KitKat BREAKS MICROSD FUNCTIONALITY

Evidently KitKat does not allow third party apps to move, copy or manipulate files anywhere on the microsd card unless those files are in a subdirectory path that matches the name of the application trying to manipulate the files. This means many file explorers and other such apps are completely broken. Please sign this petition to help encourage Google to change their ways with this decision:

The only way to totally get around it without rooting is to connect your phone to a PC with your phone as an MTP Media device. Then from your PC you can move stuff from internal to external memory etc. It's just a leeeetle slooooooow. (ARGH!÷÷/% €€£¥&^\○|□□>♤♡)

Or you could update your apps...
App developers just have to update the permissions of their apps and they work fine.
For instance, ES File Explorer can move, cut, paste, rename and delete things just fine. And no, I'm not rooted.

Aren't such apps using a rather flaky loophole to do this which Google will surely close in due course? I can't remember where I read it but if an app is doing anything more than creating its own app specific individual folder on the SD card and writing to that, it's using a workaround that wasn't intended.
Personally I'm ready for a change from Android now. The rot really started when Google forced people to sign up to G+ to leave reviews in the Play Store and it has gradually got worse from there. I seem to recall a certain company called Microsoft got into all sorts of trouble for bundling their own web browser on PCs, but now Google seems to be forcing all sorts of restrictions and conditions on people (wanna use the Play Store fully? You need a G+ account). Daft changes to the GUI that put frequently used items on large screened devices out of reach for single handed use, the demise of the menu button, changes to core apps that either remove functionality or put it further out of reach (e.g Maps) and now KitKat's war on SD cards really make me wish I had kept my old HD2. I would honestly rather go back to Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC Sense, Co0kie's Home Tab, Task Façade, TomTom GB and a few other apps at the moment. Sorry, rant over, my blood sugar level must be low

Yes, from my point of view that is real a shame. Of course, if OEMs started releasing 128GB devices at a sensible price and using the cloud became reliable for people like me who like to venture outside of urban areas where network coverage is good, I wouldn't care about micro SD cards or USB OTG. I still like Android, but hopefully Ubuntu Touch will provide an alternative, or maybe Microsoft will keep adding features to Windows Phone (though after the way they dumped 6.5 for 7, then dumped 7 for 8 with a 'fresh' start each time I'm reluctant to give them another chance). If Apple launched a sensibly priced device with a 5" screen I would give that a go too now. Who knows, perhaps I'll go back to having an iPod Classic and a feature phone. Back when I had an HTC Elf my hopes for the future of owning an all in one device that had all my music stored locally, provided sat nav, gaming, web browsing and PC functinality when docked were high, but all these years later we're still not quite where i'd like to be. I accept that I'm in the minority here and most people are probably happy though

Btw, anyone using a current version of the Moli Player app, save it. Because it plays ALL flac music files, not just some (apollo).
Copyright villains will try to have this changed.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

Or you could update your apps...
App developers just have to update the permissions of their apps and they work fine.
For instance, ES File Explorer can move, cut, paste, rename and delete things just fine. And no, I'm not rooted.

That is strange. Because of knox my galaxy note pro is not rooted and on an external sd card Es File Explorer can’t rename a file. "Cut and paste" is not really "cut and paste" (I mean it doesn’t work as it usually do when source and destination are on the same drive/sd card. Just rewriting the path of the file without moving the datas) but "Copy to destination then delete source" so it takes a very long time to move a big file from a directory to another.
What I understand is that even if developers update their apps with the last api problems will not be fixed. Files Explorer will use turn around where they can and edition apps will not be able to edit files out of their directories etc.

I understand, but just use the built in file explorer or do it from a connected computer.

I've also noticed renaming doesn't work.
Not on a 3rd party app nor on stock.
And I also can't rename anything over MTP through my pc, either. It just crashes explorer.exe and disconnects. A different computer, cable and OS don't make any difference. But then MTP has been a nightmare from day 1.
Then that's some corruption

Connect to a computer is not confortable and Es File Explorer is a better tool than the samsung built in file explorer, less options and unable to rename a file extension (I don't think I missed an option).
android 4.4 kitkat is so restrictive that it looks like a trial version, lot of pain in many cases. The prize to pay to have the fully operational version and have the right to use the tools you need is to root, increment knox and void warranty. This is very bad from google and samsung.
Sorry for my poor English.
Signed it, don't like what Google did, hope it's fixed

Personally I'm ready for a change from Android now. The rot really started when Google forced people to sign up to G+ to leave reviews in the Play Store and it has gradually got worse from there. I seem to recall a certain company called Microsoft got into all sorts of trouble for bundling their own web browser on PCs, but now Google seems to be forcing all sorts of restrictions and conditions on people (wanna use the Play Store fully? You need a G+ account).)

Its not that simple . Phones and computers actually fall under different categories for some laws. But the take away is that Google isn't forcing you to use the Play Store. Its their own software and they can require you to do whatever they legally want in order to preserve that eco system. They could easily prove in court that not having people sign in with "real" information lead to good and bad reviews being bought and sold. You also have the option of installing apps from unknown sources, so your not locked in. I don't necessarily agree with the ruling to fine Microsoft over the whole IE thing, sounds like people *****ing to me . Use IE to download Firefox or whatever and get over it. Companies aren't supposed to be fined for Anti-Trust over not helping their competition, just from intentionally locking their competitors out of markets, specially with dirty or illegal tricks. See: Intel.

Ohhh, all of the above said, I understand the need for limiting apps from modifying things on an SD card, as long as it prevents malicious code from doing malicious things and allows legitimate apps to function. I'll be following this as it develops :|
hmm, this sounds like something apple would do!

You can, because you have root. You cannot edit files on your SD Card only if:
1) You don't have root.
2) You're using a file explorer that does not has the workaround implemented in it.

I find the "feature" very annoying, especially for local backups of contacts, messages. Holding fingers crossed that CM1x fixes this obstruction from Google.

AppDash: Tag, sort & backup
AppDash is an app management tool which shows detailed information about your apps and allows tagging, backup and restore.
Download

Join the beta program
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/flar2.appdashboard
AppDash has been in development for over two years and incorporates everything that I've personally wanted out of an app manager. I've put a great deal of effort into the user interface, with the goal of making it convenient and intuitive, simple yet detailed, with a polished and pleasant look and feel. I hope you enjoy and find it useful. Please leave your feedback here in this thread, as the app is still under heavy development.
FEATURES:
• Tag your apps, perform batch actions, see screentime by tag, share app lists
• Backup and restore apps
• Analyze, extract and install APK, APKS, XAPK, APKM and split apk files
• Deep app info, including manifest, components, screentime, install/update history and metadata
• Search, sort and filter apps
Explore
See new and updated apps, quick summaries of tags, app usage, storage, unused and recently uninstalled apps
Apps
A searchable list of installed apps. Long press or tap the app icon to select one or more apps for batch actions, such as backup or uninstall
Tags
Another way to visualize your apps, you can create up to 30 customizable tag groups, and easily add or remove apps. Perform batch actions, such as backup or create sharable lists of apps.
The autotag feature will categorize your apps automatically. You can easily delete these tags and create your own, or modify them in any way you wish.
Backups
A searchable, sortable, filterable list of backups, including batch actions. First, you must choose a directory where AppDash will store your backups. It is strongly recommended to create a new directory for AppDash.
For root users, AppDash offers full backup and restore of apps, app data, external app data and expansion (OBB) files. Please note that some apps don't like backup and restore, so use at your own risk. For non-root users, only the apk will be backed up, no data.
For both root and non-root users, you can enable the auto backup feature, which will automatically back up apps whenever they are updated.
Tools
The Tools screen allows quick access to app history, usage and tools to install or analyze APK files. AppDash can handle many formats such as APK, APKS, XAPK and APKM.
Navigation and UI
AppDash is a new class of app that allows deep navigation. Each tab works independently, with its own backstack, allowing you to multitask and compare app details between tabs. You can always return to the beginning by tapping the icon in the bottom navigation bar twice or with the back button or gesture.
You can think of the Explore tab as home, pressing back enough times will always bring you back to Explore before exiting the app.
Almost everything int he app does something, so tap or long press icons, cards or text within the app and there is a good chance something will happen.
App Details
All the info you could ever want about an app, with a bottom drawer full of actions such as launch, backup, uninstall, share, extract and more. View internal details such as permissions, manifest and app components.
History
Maintains a list of app events. The longer AppDash is installed, the more info will be shown. On first launch, it only shows first install time and most recent update. From the time AppDash is installed, it will also keep track of version codes, uninstalls, updates, reinstalls and downgrades.
Usage
Get details about screen time and number of launches. By default, a weekly average is shown. Tap on the bar graph to show details for each day. You may show usage details for individual apps, or for tags.
Large Apps
Shows all apps using at least 100MB of storage. For root users, you can also quickly wipe cache to increase disk space.
Install APKs
Launches the system file chooser so you can select one or more APK, APKS, XAPK or APKM files to install.
APK Analyzer
Similar to the App Details screen, this scans the selected APK, APKS, XAPK or APKM file to get deep information about the app. You may also launch the APK Analyzer from most file explorers by clicking "Open with" and selecting AppDash.
Privacy
As with all my apps, there are no ads and no user data is collected or monetized. The only revenue is from subscription or in-app purchase. There is a free trial, but you must purchase the app or a subscription to continuing using AppDash for more than seven days. This charge is necessary to support development and expenses.
Beautiful app flar2! Is there a way to "select all" in the Backups tab yet? The autotag feature is pretty neat!
Finally a powerful Titanium Backup alternative is here. And much more, as I see.
Huge hopes and much anticipated. In no time everybody will use it.
And this, delivered by the best guy.
A great news in Android root world.
Thank you, Flar, and good luck!

I was hoping to avoid select all, but so far everyone is asking for it.
I added "select all" to the latest version
I'm going to make a series of short videos to highlight some of the lesser known features of AppDash.
Here's the first one, demonstrating how to create a sharable list of apps:
Will test next backup, cheers
Was going to ask if it backed up appdata, but then i actually read the OP
p.s. what ill be testing/comparing it against is in my sig
I've been waiting for a replacement for the tired old Titanium Backup.
Backed up Messages and all SMS data, cleared all the storage, lost all of my texts, as expected (they go way back).
Restored in seconds. Perfect.
Thank you!
I didn't see a way to schedule backups of updated apps and/or app data. Is this possible or planned for later?
I hope you don't mind some (hopefully) constructive criticism.....
Hit the backup icon and suddenly you're back at the App List tab when you start to select apps to backup... confusing
When you get there there's no obvious button to select all, which is what most people would do, before deselecting the odd app they maybe didn't want or didn't backup well. Instead you have to select an app before you can select all, this is counterintuitive. Also if you did want to filter apps once you have selected all, the filter option is gone once you select all..
Selection is signalled by replacing the apps icon, which is a bad idea, I know the icons, I don't know generic blue circles. App icons should never be hidden/replaced.
There's no obvious sign once backup begins in the GUI, none. I finally noticed a nondescript icon in the pulldown, but by that time I'd hit the backup icon at least twice...once I figured out what the backup icons n is that is. Perhaps label the icons or make that an option? Anyways, once I found the backup icon in the pulldown, and expanded it, there was still no progress...just said it was backing up 171 apps. Me, I like to know where a process is, never more so than a backup one
Why when on the backup tab (sorry, what you assume is the backup tab, but is actually the app list tab...on that front, I wouldn't have backup switch back to another tab, confusing) are there icons to delete apps etc. Once you have signalled you intend to backup these are unnecessary and distracting and taking up space best used by task specific options
There was no sign in the pulldown the backup had completed. There was a sign of something having been done as there was a list apps now in the backup tab, but no "backup completed"
There was no app count in the backup tab to show how many apps were backed up. Mine looked short. I counted them manually...only 42 of 171 apps were backed up.
Will test future versions. Have and use some of your other apps....
Some suggestions from me:
- When about to make a backup apk is always pre selected. Can it be done so that when one already has the last version of an app backed up, the apk is not pre selected and only data and external data is pre selected.
- in the backup dialog there is a very nice icon and text describing what is the last app backup and one knows if he has a backup of the last version of an app. But can you make it colored (red if no current version backup exists and green if it does for example)
- I use GMD Gesture Control. One of my most favorite apps. It is an old app but it still works fine. The apk is attached here. AppDash cannot make data backup for this app. I always get "data backup failed" message for it. Could you please check this.
- share only shares the app. Can you make it so that one can share the app, and/or the app data in one backup file for easy import and in sepatete files. This is very, very useful.
- there is an option "delete old backups". How old? Can one set this? For instance older then... What does it delete?
AppDash is an amazing product. We are lucky to have you, Flar.
Forgot to mention
- besides select all, it is good to have invert selection, exclude tag(s) from selection, include tag(s) to selection and such.
I can make some of the suggested changes, mainly around UI.
My hesitance around select all is that I'm concerned that many phones brands will flag the app for battery consumption and blacklist it or kill the process. And it will use up a ton of storage. It's better to be selective and only backup key apps.
I honestly do not want people to backup 170 apps at once, it's something that is very likely to fail for reasons beyond my control.
It's extremely resource intensive to compress, encrypt and copy several gigs of data.

I can probably add this. It will only make sense for backing up data for root users, as the autobackup feature will be sufficient in other cases.

I understand your concerns
I'll just point out that my current (and for several years) backup strategy has been over 170 apps weekly backed up and restored from the time i had my old Note 4 till now on my Pixel 2 XL. My current back up is around 4.4Gb and never failed (apart from a single backup app bug, that was fixed a year ago)
Part of my ability to fairly evaluate ROM's when testing is that i can apply the exact same apps to any ROM i test.
I realise this is probably outside of the average users needs, but im just pointing out, its entirely doable and stable with my current backup app.
I will keep my eye on the project though, and wish you the best. I still appreciate your other works, Button Mapper saved my sanity so many times in the past, and EX kernel manager still lives on my phone
@tiho5
GMD data backup fails for me too, but I'm pretty sure it can be fixed.
Thanks all, keep the suggestions coming.
I actually never have backed up my apps, and never used Titanium Backup or others, so not sure how people really use them.
My use cases for this app are more around seeing what apps have been updated, viewing app info, checking app usage and getting rid of apps I don't use.

I used to use MyBackup Pro, but when Migrate came along, i moved to it and never looked back
Appreciate all your work
Select all is needed for other actions too. I could want to clear cache from all apps from a certain tag for example.
Wipe data, restore data to a bunch of apps is often what I need to do for a set of apps in 2 of my tags. We must have these options. AppDash is a powerful, potent app manager and we have to be able to do batch actions like these.
I know you'd want the auto backup to work and therefore AppDash must not be killed. However to me this is less important than the rest of capabilities it may have. Flar, I don't think AppDash will get killed as these batch actions are always done when AppDash is active on the screen, never in the background.
