[Q] mini-hdmi through hdmi-dvi converter shows android logo asking 720p? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm playing with the TF hdmi output right now to get videos on a philips tv (15PF5121). Since this tv has only a dvi-in, i'm using a hdmi/dvi converter, and I'm plugging the TF into the converter.
The manual claims that the tv support 720p and 1080i ( http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/1/15pf5121_01/15pf5121_01_dfu_eng.pdf ), but when I plug the TF onto the tv, I have an android logo asking "720p?".
I tried to play some 720p video (baseline one, for instance The Cape, see the High Profile conversion guide thread), and some other, 720p and 1080p, and nothing is working.
The TV has an HD mode, and a PC mode, I tried both, but always the 720p asking android logo.
In each mode, here as the characteristics of this tv :
PC mode :
- 640 x 480 @ 60, 67, 72, 75 Hz
- 720 x 400 @ 70 Hz
- 800 x 600 @ 56, 60, 72, 75 Hz
HD mode :
- 640 x 480i @ 1Fh
- 640 x 480p @ 2Fh
- 720 x 576i @ 1Fh
- 720 x 576p @ 2Fh
- 1280 x 720p @ 3Fh
dmesg tells me that display is detected, and edid found. My TF is rooted, but I don't know any tools to play with resolution... The TF was tested on another device (videoprojector), and hdmi output works fine.
Any ideas ?

I have this same issue and would love to see a response if anyone knows anything.

Discussion about hdmi-dvi converter
Maybe you can try to use another new hdmi device from professional hdmi website: www.hdgenius.com and solve this trouble.

Can someone test this camera software on WM5 devices

Hi, here is a new version of a camera program, which runs under WM5: http://zone1.de/smartphone/index.html#experimental (right down at the bottom). Version 0.04 allows the selection of a video format and streams the video from the buil-in camera to the PC. The smallest video size is recommended, because the video is not compressed. On PC side, the video format can be controlled via registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Virtual Gadgets\VgCam\VideoFormat, with the following values:
FourCC (BINARY 4 Bytes)
Width (DWORD)
Height (DWORD)
BitsPerPixel (DWORD)
PixelCorrection (DWORD)
SwapUV (DWORD)
If the registry key does not exist, this default is used: I420, 176, 144, 12, 1, 1 (works excellent with a connected HTC S310)
I am interested in the video formats that other devices support. The device must be connected over ActiveSync. Configure the firewall appropriate. When you have tested, please post the result, the name of the device, and the listed video formats. The experimental version is free. Later you will get a discount on the full version (when it is finish... ;-)
I just read the other thread about video formats - its a long-running issue! - If the device shows YV12 then use I420 or IYUV on PC side.
Thanks and greetings
This is sweet. I can't figure out how to get it to work with any of the messengers though.
Thank you for the request. For the messengers you need the DLL. Here is a step-by-step instruction:
Put the "VgCam 0.04.dll" into the same folder on your PC where VgCamSetup.exe is.
Run VgCamSetup.exe. It sets the video format and also registers the DLL.
In the webcam setup of your messenger select "VG Camera" as camera source (but it works not with all messengers, and not all video formats are possible, as pointed out on the website, see post #1)
If you got it working (even if only with VgCamView.exe) it would be great if you could inform me of the name of your device and the video formats, which are listed on it, because I have not enough test devices. Here are the possible video formats of two devices, on which the application was tested:
HTC S310 (USB with 10 MBit/s)
YV12 176 x 144 @ 20 fps
YV12 320 x 240 @ 6 fps
YV12 352 x 288 @ 5 fps
XDA Neo (HTC Prophet)
YV12 144 x 176
YV12 240 x 320
YV12 288 x 352
Thanks and regards
wow
Its also possible to run this as an WLAN device in your network and connect it wireless so you can move around while (f.e.) VLC is recording it... very (!) nice.
love it.

[Q] what format of video for arnova 8 (rockchip [email protected] 800mhz))

i purchased cheap arnova 8 (first gen - resistive screen 800x600, rockchip 2818 @ 600 mhz i believe) just for playing some kids movies when i travel with little one
could someone tell me what format, codec, resoultion, bitrate etc. should i use to get best quality BUT SMOOTH video?
i can encode pretty much anything, but i have no idea if/what formats can take advantage of some decoding acceleration (if anything like that is possible on that device) and it is pain in the... to do that trial and error method
EDIT: another source claims that this chip is clocked at 600mhz, that is probably true as: "The Rockchip 2818 goes up to 640 MHz frequency."
freemake video converter - free, works perfectly, supports nvidia gpus - super fast encoding, and quality to size ratio is great on default settings

[Completed] Netflix Tablet App through HDMI results in black screen on TV

Hey XDA! I recently bought a 10.1" tablet (details below), and it works really well, except the camera. But my issue is not that. It uses a mini-hdmi connector and I bought an adapter for it, so I can use it to mirror my tablet to my TV through my HDMI cable. Everything works well, it mirrors YouTube and everything perfectly, except for one app: the Netflix app. While it's connected to my TV and I open Netflix I can browse for movies but when I play them my TV shows nothing but a black screen, audio, and subtitles, unlike my tablet which displays the video. I managed to get video for a split-second when changing aspect ratio, but that only happened once. I tried searching for my exact issue, but got nothing on tablet-to-tv issues. I'd appreciate some help! Here are the specs for my tablet:

Hi!
I can't find a thread with your specific issue. Plenty of Netflix aspect ratio not right, but none with no picture.
Since you didn't mention a manufacturer name, I'm going to assume its not one of the "big" name brands and likely has no section for it here....so you'll need to ask about your issue here....

If it is a manufacturer that has a section here, posting in its section would be best.

Question DeX in 4k?

Is there any word yet, whether DeX will finally be able to do 4k, or is it still stuck with 2k?
Bump.
Since the device seems to be in people's hands by now. Could anyone let me know?
Thank you!

Samsung DeX officially supports the following resolutions:
[With an external display device (e.g. a TV or monitor) connected through a cable]
▷ Smartphones (※ Supported resolutions vary depending on the connected accessory.)
1) When an HDMI adapter is used
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900)
2) When the DeX Station or DeX Pad is used
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900), WQHD (2560x1440)
• 16:10 screen ratio: WUXGA (1920x1200), WQXGA (2560x1600)
• 21:9 screen ratio: UWFHD (2560x1080), UWQHD (3440x1440)
▷ Tablets and foldable devices (※ The following resolutions are supported regardless of the type of connected accessories.)
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900), WQHD (2560x1440)
• 16:10 screen ratio: WUXGA (1920x1200), WQXGA (2560x1600)
• 21:9 screen ratio: UWFHD (2560x1080), UWQHD (3440x1440)
※ The Galaxy Tab S7 FE supports up to WQXGA (2560x1600) for a wired connection and up to FHD (1920x1080) for a wireless connection.
※ If you cannot select the desired resolution, check the resolutions supported by the connected display device. If you are using a UHD (4K) TV and it does not support WQHD, then you cannot use it.
※ Note that the resolutions supported by Samsung DeX are in compliance with the specifications required by the DisplayPort standard (HDMI standard). Display devices that fall outside the specifications defined by this standard may not support some of the resolutions.
[With a PC connected through a cable or wirelessly]
• 16:9 aspect ratio: FHD (1920 × 1080)
[With a TV connected wirelessly]
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080)
※ For Samsung Smart TVs with 4K resolutions released in or after 2017, WQHD (2560x1440) is supported when connected through the 5 GHz band.
※ TVs or dongle devices of other manufacturers that do not support FHD may be connected at a lower resolution.
So sadly no.
Tested with my S22 Ultra with a HDMI 2.0 to USB cable and Wirelessly and indeed no 4K out. Samsung would need to update the Dex backend, rather than the hardware to allow higher resolution.
