disabling notification screen on toggle - T-Mobile LG G2x

When I receive a text message, the screen turns on for 5 seconds to show it and then turns off. I receive a lot of notifications and this is draining my battery. How can I disable it?

Open text message app, this is for stock app and Rom.
Hit menu key. Select settings, Goto the bottom of page, unchecked show text on status bar.
Hope that helps.

[Q] Notification Screen Flash App?

Seeing as that the Captivate does not have a notification LED, it sometimes becomes a problem noticing new notifications. I just want to know if there is some kind of application that would flash the screen for a few seconds or so when the phone receives a new notification. I remember my iPhone doing that and it would be cool to see Android phones doing the same.
Look in the development forum for captivate, there is a thread doing this exact thing

No, I know about the red dot on the screen thing. I dont really need that and besides, I believe it kills battery. I just want some app to turn the screen on for a few seconds when I get a notification.
Maybe go to the noled thread and see if he'll add that feature
my screen does flash when I get a message. It pops up in the notification bar and shows two lines of the message then shuts off.

It does this when it is sleeping?
I just tested it. When its locked and the screen is off it revives itself when I get and MMS or SMS. For emails it does not.
handcent sms will do it when you adjust the settings for the popup menu
Oh, maybe it only works for SMS and MMS notifications only. I would like the screen to flash on for every notification (Gmail, Feedr, AIM, etc). Kind of like how the iPhone worked with push notifications.

Handcent questions.

Cant really figure this app out. how do i get to my drafts? How can i set a black background for all text messages? And how can i stop the little window from popping up showing my most recent text? Thanks yall

when on the main handcent window, hit the menu button. Settings button is there. Not sure on the background colors, but I know there is stuff about pop ups.
Drafts should default to the text box when you go back in to the message.

Disable lockscreen Unknown message when using Go SMS

I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets an Unknown or multiple false message notifications on the lockscreen (where the date usually displays) when using Go SMS or I'm sure any SMS replacement app.
I'm running a rooted sidekick, is there any way to modify the stock lockscreen so it always displays the date and doesn't display any notifications whatsoever?

I just removed the stock notifications altogether. Freeze it or just uninstall it.
do you mean "Notification pop-up settings"? I freezed it then restarted and I'm still getting an Unknown message on the lockscreen
I had this problem too on my Sidekick 4G. I am using Handcent but I don't know if that's the cause for me.
What I did to solve this problem: I went into the stock messaging app, into the menu, where I chose "Browser Message". (This menu option is not always present, but apparently shows up when you get a message from your cell carrier.) There was one message listed, and I deleted it. After that, my lock screen displayed the date again.

Issue with Twitter notifcations

So on the htc 10 which is what I am coming from I am able to choose silent notification or different notification level for each app, that seems to have changed. I cant find any way to get rid of vibration or sound just for specific apps within the notification setting panel. In the Twitter app theres nothing specific and if there is I have it off and in the app settings within the phone it just gives me the type of notifications such as direct messages, news etc. No where does it let me turn off sounds or vibrations for the app.
Within the Twitter app in the settings the only option is under Display and Sound, second from the bottom you can turn off in app sounds.
If you go to the app settings (where you would force close or clear data) and tap Notifications it lists multiple categories such as Direct Messages, Related to you and your tweets, etc. Here you can disbale ALL notifications (but moving the slider at the top to OFF) and the checkbox next to each of these turns them on or off completely.
If you tap on the item like Direct Messages (or any other item) you can again toggle them off for that function (same as unchecking on the previous screen) and set the behavior. I have most set to Show Silently, which will not vibrate or make sound. If Make Sound is on, vibrate is available under the Advanced roll up. Review settings for each type and turn vibrate off or change all to Show Silently if that's what you're after.
Hope this helps.
