Data Drop Issue. Losing Data connectivity randomly? - HTC Sensation

Ok so let me describe the issue before I go into mine.
1. Loading any app but let's say twitter...
2. Hit refresh and you notice it's taking extra long to reload.
3. Arrows next to 4G get stuck in Upstream.
4. 4G Icon disappears and NEVER comes back.
5. You're left with nothing but cell bars.
Sometimes you can be doing nothing at all and this happens. If you go into "Mobile Data" under quick settings or regular settings it states "Turning On" but it never does. Mobile Data Button will NOT respond at all.
However if you enter the settings and manually switch to 2G it (data symbol) goes blank then makes an "X" then loads back up and stays with no issue.
Now this is not a service issue because if it was the Unit by default would goto 2G. But it does not. I can reproduce this issue after a Master Reset and soft reset.
I have replicated our APN setting correctly and input them in the correct manners in a single column and this does nothing.
I assume the device is having an issue with the hand off if 4G becomes unavailable and doesn't auto switch to 2G even if the setting requires it to. But I could be wrong as I am just guessing.
How many of you are experiencing this same random issue and how/when does it happen?
How many times daily?
I'm trying to gather info to goto my resources to have this looked at if it's not just me.
EDIT: I tried this---> *#*#4636#*#* and then press “Phone Information” > Toggle Ciphering to OFF > Turn off Radio > Turn on Radio > Toggle Ciphoring to ON.
Will update results after running it all today..Try it..Should work at first..I want to see is this is final fix or a bandage fix.

I have noticed that exact behavior a few times as well.. In my case, the only way to restore data was to reboot the handset.

Updated OP

Just got off the phone with TMO Support
I am experiencing the same issue, just started this morning, the fella at TMO suggested, and he said he checked it, that my sim is an older 2G sim, and that this issue has been popping up a bit in the last few months, he suggested, and I assume that he really didnt know what to do, that I go into a TMO store and have my SIM swapped out, he said, that the older 2G sim's cant handle the newer 3G speeds and kinda self destruct.
I've got a TMO store accross the St from here and as soon as they open I will go get a new SIM to try it..
I will post more after.
BTW: setting the phone to use GSM only will get edge working..
EDIT: Called TMO Back, the next guy walked me through a bunch of troubleshooting steps, and none of it helped, while he was typing up his trouble ticket, the 4G indicator came on and the phone is working properly now.. trouble ticket still went in.. My guess, network problems on T-Mobile.

I'm having this issue too... Sometimes I have 3 bars and no data connection at all. How do T-Mobile 3G cards differ from the 2G cards? Mine has no info on it, just numbers. Now, AT&T's 3G cards are clearly marked (I'm testing TMob service, planning to jump from AT&T).

I am not sure how T-Mobiles cards are identified, But I dont think its a problem with the SIM, most likely I had a newer support person on the phone who had no idea what he was talking about.
Seems to be working ok now with my "2G" sim in.
getting about 4Mb/sec down and almost 2 up.

Since switching from my N1 I have since....
1.Replaced the sim that came in the box
2.Had my data plan recoded to read android, to play nice with the towers
I think there was a third thing but I don't remember lol...but anyways I had this happen once where data stalled. The arrows weren't blinking and I had the 4g icon with full bars. I had to turn the radio off and on to reboot the radio. I am guessing it's a tmo issue as well because it hasn't happened since.

Had this issue from day 1. Have done every supposed fix offered. Nothing. TMo says its part of HTC's known issues with the device and it's a supposed to be addressed when they send out our update.

Nah bro...I actually work for T-Mo..lol
My SOC is cool...My manager changed it correctly when we activated. I had a MT4G before this and the SOC is the same.
SIM is the same that came with Mytouch 4G..again same newly shaped smaller gold conductive SIM that comes with the Sensation.
This isn't on our end at all...I think your issue was similar but not the same.
Ours is definitely software related....As the post before me stated, HTC says that the update should catch this issue as they are aware of it.
Crossing fingers.

We've had many posts about these issues already. We can SAFELY say that it has nothing to do with the SIM or the type of data plan you have. I and others have confirmed this. I am still using the old 2g SIM with no numbers on the old $20 Android plan. I've had incredible 4g coverage with no data issues. My speeds are usually 6-7 Mbps average and maxing out at around 10 Mbps.

I noticed that but I wasn't quite sure if they were honestly the EXACT same issue..So I was kinda hoping to simplify and explain it a tad bit more and go from there.

I had these issues 2. Cycling ciphering and mobile data off and on seems to have fixed issue for me. Will have to wait and see if an ota gets released.

Well it's back doing it...It's definitely NOT handing off correctly. So that method is not a perm fix.

Just got off the live chat..this is what happened. Clearly I omitted my last name..But here is the copy and paste. YES I copied what I wrote in the OP because it was perfectly phrased..plus i didn't feel like re explaining it.

So I am assuming they are out of Sensations. So there goes warranty exchanges guys.

Update:: So I went in the store today...I actually had to show my badge since they were so rude before. The other manager must have been off today. They exchanged no problem.
The new batch devices however all don't have the "curved glass" frame anymore. Seems responsive. My screen has a super minor curve around the edges. I assure it's NOTHING like the 1st one I had. I pray this one works because my 14 days is up Friday. Customer Care has no more Sensations to give out anymore so if you're calling in do NOT expect a Sensation and there is NOTHING comparable to it. So they won't do the exchange.

New SIM fixed my data issues, 4G all the time. - My data went from 4G sometimes at about 1.4mb to 4G all the time usually around 6-7mb

Your issue was different than this issue then. This issue is a software issue.

I have experienced the same issue as the OP in this thread.
I purchased the Sensation the day it was released and it functioned well for the first 3 days using the new SIM card but with my previous Even More Plus plan that I inherited through my Nexus One.
Later that week my phone was unable to access the internet using T-Mobile's network.
I tried fixing the phone by removing the battery for a couple of minutes
Cycling the Cipher lock several times
Manually Registering to T-Mobiles network
and more...
Phone calls and SMS worked but I was unable to receive any data. I then called T-Mobile asking if they had experienced any Data outages in my area and the representative said No. Then asked if I recently purchased the Sensation. She claimed that my issue was caused by a conflict in the Data plan that I had and I was forced to get the new 4G Data plan. (Just a marketing scam as my phone worked fine for 3 days and the same SIM works fine on my Nexus One)
Prior to making the phone call I noticed that my phone did not have an assigned IP address. Even after I manually registered the phone to T-Mobile's network.
A week later while at a concert I noticed that my phone experienced the same behaviour for no strange reason. Even when using the new "Data Plan" that T-Mobile recommended. The worst thing about it is that it drains your battery as it attempts to scan and register itself with T-Mobile.

Can you take a picture of this new Sensation. It would be a shame if we get ripped off weeks after the phone was released if they release a revised version of this phone.

I'm having a similar problem and will be stopping by a tmo store later this afternoon. My phone drops to 0 bars, stays like that for about 10 seconds, loses signal with an x on the bars, then 20 seconds later I get signal back. All the while I have 4G but cannot send/recieve data. This also happens every 5 mins or so. Reboot does no help, neither does a battery pull or toggling cypher/radio. I'm really starting to get annoyed and am lucky that I have an available WiFi network while at work. This is the second Sensation that ill be returning. The first wouldn't get ANY signal at all.

Widget turned off 4g/3g, can't turn it back from 1x

So I was playing around trying to delete widgets and one of them took out my 4g/3g connection. The icon is stuck in 1x, and I can't find any setting to change it back.
dail *#*#4636#*#* . This will take you to the network settings. select phone information. And then scroll down to set preferred network type.
I did that, set it to both LTE mode as well as CDMA+LTE/Evdo, but then even when rebooting to toggle it, it shows Network Type as CDMA - 1xRTT
I'm seeing other threads with people having issues with being stuck in 1x, so maybe its just not me, and I disconnected and just happened to not get it back
I am having this issue as well. Rooted last night. In the process of removing system apps removed something I shouldnt have. Went to flash my back up created by Rom Man only to find out it wasnt made, fail, so i flashed the custom rom by Chingy. Since flashing the rom I only have 1X service no matter what I set the phone to on the toggle.
its not just you bro ive been having 3g and 4g problems all morning. I am in queens NY...if they dont get this fix before the 14 days I am returning this phone and going back to t-mobile
I had thus problem. Just turn airplane mode on for a minute, then turn it off and you should get 3g again.

I'm not even rooted, and I began experiencing this issue this morning after having my phone off and plugged in last night.
EDIT: I tested the above fix, and it didn't work for me. Every time the phone tries to turn 3g on it will appear in the status bar for a split second and then everything turns off, even 1x. weird.
It's a network problem on verizon's end. I'm in Cincinnati and data is not working at all.
I am getting this too - according to tech support, there is a problem with the 4G network right now - however why it doesn't fall back to 3G I don't know (unless there is a problem with that too).
I too am in New York, so it might be localized to NYC - They even tried resetting something on my VZ profile.
I'm still on the call as we speak, but I get the feeling given the number of people reporting this, it is a VZ problem.

It's definitely not just a localized problem. I'm all the way out in Utah (no 4g service here yet) and the 3g is completely jacked.
Yup confirmed with tech support, there's a nationwide outage with 4g data and they are working it with the highest priority, the tech said. Ah the costs of new technology. Always will have issues at start.
Same thing here, Pensacola, FL. Just went out on my drive to work today, now it's 1x across the board for me and the gf...she has an incredible and I have the tbolt...
Add me to the list. Been on the phone with tech support for 52 minutes and counting. I'm on hold right now and thought I would check xda. Stuck in 1x if I even have anything. I am about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. Phone is completely stock and worked perfect yesterday. Also, the tech said DO NOT dial *228 from the Thunderbolt. I didn't, but he said for future referece it will force the phone to use only 1x and 3g. Nice to know lol they didn't say that crap when I bought it. At least their tech support guys are super friendly.
Weird. Im in Akron Ohio and have full bars 4G. Just did speed test and getting 15Mbps down 20 up. Downloaded app off market just to be sure and downloaded without a hitch. This must not be affecting whole nation. (Yes my Wi-Fi is off lol)
Just got off the phone with VZ Tech support. He said there is not an acknowledge problem with the 3G network right now (unlike the 4G), but he's sure that soon there probably will be.
He could not use my phone as an example case (to raise the trouble ticket) because I was unwilling to perform the last step in the troubleshooting process (reflashing the phone) - but I'm sure there will be others willing to do that and this will become a known issue soon enough.
Worst part is, even my 1X support keeps going in and out - probably because the 1X network in NYC is overloaded, because all those users usually on 3G are all on 1X now, and killing it
Confirmed here, too...all 1x, must be a nationwide 3g issue
Same here south of Chicago. Guess I won't even bother calling about it. Thanks for the info.
This is definitely a widespread issue... I am in Miami and I can't even gey 3G here... I am only getting 1X.. The weird thing is, my friend has a Thunderbolt too and she seems to ne getting 3G fine.... If anyone receives any worse from Verizon, please post ASAP!!!
Yup im located in Manhattan New York having the same exact problem since 8:30am today No 4G or 3G i hope they get it fixed Soon Let's Go Verizon!

[fixed] Internet problem on sensation?

Hi,
To be clear: Internet is not the app, not over Wifi but over 4G/3G/H etc..
I got my sensation 3 days now and there seems to be a issue with the internet connection.
Mine keeps requesting data but it doesnt get any data back.
Apps like internet browser sometimes work and sometimes they dont (loading google), the weather app says there is no internet connection and manage to sometimes get the actual weather.
I tried restarting it serval times but no success..
Internet does work on my HTC Hero.
Edit:
Found the problem, had to enable data roaming..
Odd thing that it works sometimes without roaming tho..
4G internet issues
I am having the same problem with my internet, though enabling data roaming did not correct my problem. Internet and web based apps work fine over WIFI, but will randomly work over 4G. Is anyone else having a similar issue?

I get a severe lag now and then when connected to 4G - seems to take a while for the connection to initiate. I've tried the "fix" posted in another thread, but that only seemed to resolve the issue temporarily.
It seems like location may have something to do with it as well. The tower closest to my home is where I experience the most issues. Though my G2X or my fiance's vibrant work without any issues.

That could contribute to my issue. I seem to live near a cell dead zone.
Theres a few threads open on this issue. There doesnt seem to be a permanent fix yet, but it is extremely annoying.
Same here, my connection would send data but winter recieve sometimes. Kinda annoying. Hopefully, htc addresses this problem soon.

Same issue - across multiple handsets
Hi, it's been a while since I posted in XDA but this issue has been a regular one with my T-mobile service, across multiple devices. I have searched far and wide for anyone else seeing this exact problem, and finally here you are. I hope this helps other users:
1) Purchased the original myTouch 3G; approx 1 year with zero connectivity issues. Loved it, exceptional for its time.
2) Purchased (upgrade) myTouch 3G Slide at launch. Following 3-5 months saw This issue with outgoing data, but no incoming response. 60/40 the internet would respond or not in any application (web, streaming, podcasts), it was a real crapshoot. Assumed the problem was isolated and performed a few master resets. Zero apps installed and continued to see the same issue. Decided it was either software or radio related and called T-mo for advice. They suggested a replacement unit after standard troubleshooting (re-seat SIM, master reset, check that you have substantial signal).
3) New MT3G Slide, same outcome. Called back. Finally received a reasonable suggestion: get a new (free) SIM from T-mo as the one I currently had was slightly older. Was sure this was the issue as the rep sounded very confident when I explained the situation. Received new SIM!
4) No change, issue persisted. Following day called T-mo and had a 'ticket' escalated to engineering dept. Was assured I would receive a call from eng. dept, but no such luck. Bothered by this whole mess and lacking in answers from T-mo, I sold the Slide and upgraded to the G2X.
5) The issue once again reared its head! If the stars were aligned and I did get In/Out data, it was 11KB/s (90kbps) tops. Ex: 5MB podcast would take 0.5-1.5 min (30-90 sec) to download prior to issue, now 10-15 min. This was with no apps installed, 4 bars of signal, 4G status icon, across multiple geographical locations, and fingers on both hands crossed. It was about this time I suspected that somehow T-mo's network was throttling my account. But, I had never used more than 1GB in a month, and they assured me I was not being throttled. A serious WTF was had
6) Realizing there were bigger problems in the world and finally at wit's end, I returned the G2X and am waiting patiently for my contract to expire in July, while using an old Nokia candybar in the meantime for calls and text only.
7) July: move to new carrier or stay with T-mo (if we can figure out what this issue is). 8 year customer, need internet on a smartphone though.

I am having the same issue, and have gone through the same steps. New Sensation (exchnaged mine twice now) followed by new SIM, tried the *fix* posted, turned on data roaming, and still nothing. I have talked to Tmo several times, and they are supposed to be checking the towers in my area, an engineer is supposed to contact me in up to 72 hours. The Evo 3D comes out before my 14 day return period, so I may just jump ship if this problem persists. Hoping to find a fix though, as this phone is amazing when it's on Wifi

Yet Another Signal Issue

Hey everyone. So long story short, I took advantage of T-Mobile's offer to pay off my VZW contract, and purchased the Nexus 5. Now, from my extensive searches all over the internet, it is pretty apparent that this phone has a lot of signal issues. Mine, however, appears to be a bit different and I haven't really come across it yet. So this is what happens:
I have pretty good signal everywhere with T-Mobile. At home, however, it's not so great (but workable). Occasionally, I go into a spot where I lose signal. The problem is, that signal never comes back. Just today, I lost signal in my elevator. I went into the car, drove to a point where I ALWAYS have full LTE, and look at my phone: No Signal, Emergency calls only. I go into the phone status menu in the device settings, and according to the DBM, I have FULL signal (yet the top right corner indicates a little lack-of-signal triangle). The only way to "reconnect" to the network is to go to mobile network > network operators and to manually select T-Mobile after it searches for networks. Then, it reconnects to the network with full signal. Again, this isn't like the other network issues that people seem to be having, where they suddenly lose signal. My radio is fine. It transitions seamlessly between 3G and LTE. The problem, however, is that sometimes, after going into a low coverage area and losing signal, I can't get it back.
Has anybody ever had this issue? I don't think it's a hardware issue, because the phone is reporting that it is receiving signal in the status menu.

I have tmobile as well and I haven't had this problem yet. It comes out of no signal fine and usually pretty quick. Can you still make calls or does it say "mobile network not available". I would go to a tmobile store when you can and ask them. Don't call, those people don't know anything.

Thats really weird. I haven't heard that before either. I know this phone has a bunch of signal problems, but I haven't hear this as one of them. As I said, try going to a tmobile store. They might be able to help by giving you a new sim card or something. If that doesn't work, I would RMA the phone.
When you say "where I normally have a good LTE signal" what are you comparing that to? When you had vzw? Or another time with the same phone on tmo? Maybe tmo isn't good in your area and you're better off with vzw? Just a thought. I had vzw for 11 years and switched to tmo April 2013. Better than vzw in my area. My N5 has no signal issues that I'm aware of

I mean that, in that same exact area, when I manually reconnect to the T-Mobile network, I have full bars of blazing fast LTE. In that same exact spot, prior to manually reconnecting, the phone was telling me that I had no signal just seconds before. I'm referring to only T-Mobile, and only the Nexus 5.

This is a good idea. OP: you can do a little troubleshooting and then I'd advise going to a tmo store, explaining your issue, then maybe getting another one.

Have you tried disabling LTE and just run with 3G? Not permanently, but for testing purposes.
Sounds odd.. when i lose signal completely its in a no coverage area... makes sense right but when i step into coverage
it will lock back onto the network (EDGE) after 20 seconds or so and 10 more seconds should lock into the data (LTE/HSPA)

I haven't tried this yet, gonna do it today. I'm just really hoping it's a SIM card issue, I hate replacing phones. But if it has to be done, then so be it.

Signal Issue
In my tmobile no issue He goning will pretty quick.
I enjoy the 3g...
I have the same issue. The phone just came from my service center which didn't acknowledge the problem. I'm at a loss as to what to do next since they don't want to replace it under warranty (they say that the phone is fine).

The problem is that, as long as you have strong service and don't lose signal, the problem is impossible to replicate. That's probably what your service center saw. I downloaded an app today to help monitor how long it takes to regain signal. If the data adds up, I plan to use it.

The problem occurs even when my phone is standing still. I have it on my desk where it has a five bar reception 24/7. I never moved it at that time and it still failed on me. I even tried a different SIM with same results.
I have another question for everyone with the T-Mobile network. When I am at home, I have pretty weak signal. It is usually HSPA or, sometimes, HSPA+. However, when I try to switch to 2G in preferred network types, I cannot get any signal whatsoever. How is it possible that my phone can have 3G but cannot connect to 2G?

Signal Issue
I had the same issue. I have great LTE signal at home. When I get to work it's 3G. The phone transitions from LTE to 3G ok. When I go into the middle of the building I loose the signal completely. When I go back outside the phone never reacquires 3G. I was able to duplicate this several times.
I did a factory reset which didn't work. I called T-Mobile support. They were no help. I went into T-Mobile store and asked if they would swap out the SIM. Bingo.
New SIM card solved my problem.

No Incoming Calls! Help!

Hello All,
I got the Chinese OPO 16GB because it satisfied all the frequency requirements for my Carrier (Rogers Wireless, Canada).
I absolutely love the phone its an amazing device.
But I am having major issues when it comes to reception with this phone. I am coming from and iPhone 5S. This phone works very nicely with LTE and speeds are good and everything, but it has issues locking signal when it comes to 3G/HSPA. When I am indoors I get absolutely no 3G coverage at all... where I used to ger 2-3 bars with this phone thats impossible it completely loses coverage as soon as I step indoor somewhere. Just for kicks and giggles I experimented with this at the mall. I turned the phone settings to WCDMA only and managed to lock 5 bars on HSPA standing underneath a sunroof at the mall. As soon as I stepped in a covered area merely steps away from the sunroof I would lose coverage.
It is beyond me to understand how a phone can have such a sensitive antenna.
My main issue isn't 3G... Since I get LTE everywhere with this phone. But the problem is when someone is calling me the phone keeps looking for 3G signal to drop to but cant because it cant find 3G signal and all my incoming calls go to voicemail.
Anyone have any ideas? how I can fix this? or is anyone else going through the same thing I am?
Thanks in advance.
P.S I am running the latest CM Nightly.

I have been watching that thread closely but everyone on that thread claims that they had no 3G before flashing the modem and after they did... whereas I do get 3G/H+ sometimes but reception is horrendous.
Did you change your internal settings to LTE only? Via the dialer code?

No, I either keep it on GSM/WCDMA and LTE or GSM and LTE.
GSM and LTE works better than GSM/WCDMA.

Well at least you have a spare phone, I dont. I am stuck with this, depending on my luck I may or may not receive calls. I have searched countless forums... Tried Stock, Flashing Diff roms, and even a modem.
No Luck Whatsoever

I feel you bro, i missed a few very important calls myself. lets just hope it gets fixed soon in the next update(if at all it can be fixed by a software update) or ill just shout at my ATT rep. Hang in there
Okay! So I have narrowed down the issue... the issue is with UMTS signal, it is super super super weak when indoors or even under a shed for that matter...
So just to test it out, I went outside and stood around for a minute until I got 3G on my phone then ran Android Terminal Emulator with the Ping google.com command
I noticed that for as long as terminal was running my phone stayed connected to 3G with full bars on HSPA+ or HSPAP without any hickups.
However, as soon as I closed the terminal, **** went down the toilet again... I went from 16 ASU and 4-5 bars to 1 bar. Then within seconds to 0 bars and then no service all of a sudden.
If that helps anyone... I feel like its a software bug somewhere.
Any dev who can help... please help me.
Much appreciated.
I don't have 4g coverage in my area so I basically use 3g (HSDPA+) and I also noticed that the signal strength is not quite as good as other phones in the same area. And signal strength goes up and down all the time, from -80 dBm (full bars) to -107 dBm (no bars) and sometimes even switches to the 2g (EDGE). Also noticed that if the phone is downloading data signal strength is good, around -80 dBm. In idle signal strength goes down to the poor, around -101 dBm (one or no bars). I'm living in good coverage area. I did a test and compared signal strength with Note3. Note3 showed stable -83 dBm strength. So definitely it is not poor operator coverage but a problem with OnePlus radio modem. Interesting that on 2G everything is fine, signal is stable and in par with Note3.
Same thing here bro... So what I am trying to look for now is to force my phone to always stay connected to HSPA+ somehow.. because HSPA+ Signal seems to be a lot more stable and stronger but it drops back down to 3G which is really really weak as you know and then eventually disconnects itself from the network.
If you find anything, do let me know.
Thanks.
Here is a video of the demo of the issue.

Why not flash the US version of the ROM? (CM11S or OPO 4.4 AOSP)? that should also flash the modem and make it the same baseband version. The hardware is identical to the US version.

has anyone found a working solution to this issue? when i put my phone on 2g only, there's no real issue, but if on 3g or lte , some phone calls go to voicemail.
Have to push this thread. First week my phone worked brilliantly, now no incoming calls, straigt to VM. Haven't changed since then any setting (rooter from begin and franco Kernel).... Any ideas? It's definitely the phone, because my old phone works great with the sim card. I get SMS and Internet is also working fine
I also have this problem on an intermittent basis. Occasionally incoming calls go straight to voicemail. I've tried the 38R, 44S, and now CM 11/28 modems. Same behavior on all. It's not very frequent, but worrisome, nonetheless. I've had it happen on stock 11s and Vanir 5.0.
Reboot always seems to fix the problem.
Anyone with the same problem, or able to provide some insight would be appreciated.

Unable to send SMS

I am on Verizon and haven't had any issues in months but I started receiving this error earlier tonight. I can receive a message just fine. I have rebooted twice. Anyone else seeing anything? Stock unrooted with latest OTA. It happens with any SMS app.

We have had a lot of issues on Verizon but have not heard much from enough people, especially from the ones running pure stock. We have been having a lost signal issue where we get a slash through our network bars after a reboot, mostly rooted users after flashing something. I am hoping your issue is just a bad SIM card. But there are known issues with Verizon on this phone, I been waiting for more stock users to report anything. I don't have much advice except I would stay stock if this is the worst of your issues and maybe try getting a new SIM. I had this issue on my HTC 10 and a new SIM fixed it. Good luck buddy.
I registered just so I could say that I too have this same problem. I did the update and now I cant send text messages. I still receive them though.

I've been pure stock since June 9th. Had quite a few little issues to work through to get SMS MMS data and calling to work throughout the first month or so after launch.
May I ask what your Network mode and APN settings are?

I am stock and have had no issues since that first update that fixed MMS. All settings are default . It worked early yesterday and then just stopped for no reason. This is the first time i have seen any errors, even before when there were issues, there were no errors. My network mode is GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto, APN is vzwinternet with default settings.

Please keep us updated on your experience as we don't have many stock users report here. If any other stock users have had issues or have not had issues we would like to hear from them as well. This Verizon issue has been a mess.

Factory Reset seems to have done the trick. Now to spend the rest of the day setting things back up.
I am all stock as well, and have the unlocked version on Verizon. I have had this phone since it was released with no issues. There was an update install that happened a few days ago and that is when all the problems seem to have happened.
I get that same error screen.

Yes only band 13. No issues but sometimes it can get slow in congested areas. I live outside of Charlotte and work in uptown.
Same here. Only LTE band 13 and middle of Nebraska. I have an hr commute to work through rural Nebraska and stay connected to LTE about 85% of the time according to the Open Signal app. The places I loose service is where my old original HTC One would drop down to 1X service. I have 4G LTE in places where my old phone would only have 3G, but the 4G isn't as strong of a signal as the 3G was. There is still enough to make a phone call though.

Thanks a lot guy's, I was having a great experience with only band 13 on stock I had no complaints. But your input kinda confirms what I have suspected, it's probably best to stay on stock with this phone on Verizon. It is very finnicky with Verizon, Verizon does not play nice with unlocked phones outside of their network unless you are Google or Apple with an agreement with Verizon. I had to send mine in for warranty repair, I hope I get it fixed with Verizon signal working.
I'm running pure stock and have had two major issues with this phone on vsw, 1st was about on October 3rd where after losing service in the plant I work in, service never came back unless I put in an att sim card or factory reset the phone. The factory reset worked then but took 2 days to get everything dialed back in.
Now I have this EXACT issue. I can receive sms, I can receive mms, I can send mms, but I cannot send sms.
are there some settings we can change inside the apn to make this work?
This issue again cropped up after losing service inside the plant and when I tried to go outside to get it back, this happens.
