im testing a theory here about the random bricking. i need to know what revision your phone is? also when you purchased it? i bought mine 2 weeks ago and i have a revision 2 phone.
you can find this info under settings... hardware/software.
There is only one revision of Thunderbolt publicly available. I have gone through five revision twos so far. This is over the time period of release day to now.

weird as usually a launch day phone would be a 1 not a 2. it was the same on the evo4g. why did you go through soo many phones?
Settings/about phone/hardware. In here I see mac id's for WiFi and Bluetooth, hardware version is 0002. I assume this is the revision you speak of? Anyway, I bought the phone May 6th and the store had just received a batch that morning, I've run both froyo and gb radios and roms, never experienced any issues other than a few reboots a month ago.

really... so my theory is partially correct... there is different hardware versions. seems weird that older phones have higher revisions.
be nice to know what the bricked phones were?
Hmm... Mine has 2 and 3. I bounce back and forth between froyo and gingerbread. Its 2 on froyo and 3 on gb.

im running hardware revision 0003
Huh, that's strange.
I just got mine one week ago, June 20, 2011. hardware rev 2.
Sucks down battery like a wino on muscadet. I have display brightness at 30%, Green Power turning the radios off, aggressive power save. Also, I've used 5GB data in a week, not really doing anything.
0003 here. Running Gingerbread.

I have revision 0002 running stock and unrooted (for now). I bought on on 4/10.
Launch Day Tbolt here, revision 0002
Release day. Rev 3 never had reboots or other problems.

I got TB 3 months ago, Revision 1 phone and I had no problem none reboot.
rev 002 , been rooted to stock rooted and back to stock with no problems when Im stock. Just had reboots but it was from the rom I had installed.
I bought mine May 23 and I'm running HW version 2. I haven't had many reboot issues except stock, and when I was running GB radios.

Guys, stop. They are all revision 02. Even the ones that say revision 03.
The GB alpha leak changes the revision number reported.

Whats the date on the box?
What new hardware version. I had build date of 4/19 which was great except for reboots. Got a replacement yesterday, build date of 4/29, but the radio sucks. Can't do anything on 2g, and 4g is hit or miss. Bars are from 0 to 2 and jump around a lot. Reminds me of my radio problems I had with my nexus one. Very frustrated right now.

My date is 4/28 and have zero data issues. My data is just as consitant as I had with my mytouch 4g. I do have a replacement coming because I have minor screen bleed. when it gets here I'm going to compare the two and ship back whatever one is worse.
How is it? I'm on BAMF 1.7 now.

I averaged about the same on cm7 as the last guy stated with an extended battery. I used the stock shipped radio with imo's kernel.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I get anywhere from ~17-25 hours depending on what I'm doing. I did get 36 hours several weeks ago right when it RC0.6 was released.
Stock battery, stock radio, imo's kernel.

2.6.35.13 kernel from Slayher. And the most recent froyo approved radio. Sorry the name/number of it escapes me right now. I know a lot of people really like Imo's kernels and I've used them in past. But for now this is my set up.

Radio 0422r or 0223r (officially released froyo radios).
CM7 0.6 is much better than the previous pre-alpha versions. I'm very happy.
I can get up to 30 hours if I'm just doing regular use a few phone calls or texts. It's hard to tell though because I have it connected almost everywhere I go. Work, car, home. the couple of times I haven't had it on a charger for a while it's lasted a day and a half or so with extended battery

Exactly my thought as well. I may try one of those ultra lean kernels eventually but last time I tried that wifi stopped working. I should note that I live and work in bfe Indiana and my phone fights tooth and nail for a signal all day long which I'm sure further hurts the battery.
The MR2 and MR2.5 were the best by far for my reception but cm7.1 doesn't use them currently. So for the time being I usually spend 50-75% of my time searching for a signal. Wifi at home helps this out but still. The MR radios were more likely to be in the circa 50% area of time spent looking for a signal.

So I think my thunderbolt is bricked
I've had this phone since it was first released. Been running BAMF for a few months now.
Running BAMF Remix 1.8.6, Imoseyon's Sense leankernel (extreme), Official MR2 Radio
This morning I was getting lockups. I was just browsing FB, checking the interwebs... I did a battery pull and turned it back on. After a few more minutes of browsing, I hit the vol down key and it locked up again. I did a battery pull and the phone would not turn back on. Pulled the battery, SIM, and SD card and re-inserted and no luck. Plugged the phone into a charged and the charge light does not turn on.
Brought it to verizon store and they are sending me a replacement although they said my moisture sticker is missing (I never touched it) Tried a new battery and didnt work. One of their chargers did light up the charge LED though...
Anyone have any ideas?
This has me thinking perhaps I should revert back to the shipped radio.

Based on this one experience or has there been multiple reports?

There was another somewhere in the cm7 thread but i think that was a third person relay. I'm not reverting back, just gonna use stock kernel and rom.

Hmmm. I'm using the leaked non bricked mr2 radio and all is well here, fingers crossed!
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
There is no evidence to indicate that causality is the new radio. It could just as easily be damage done to your phone by overclocking it or (gasp!) a legitimate warranty return. Phones can and do stop working for other reasons.
Btw, tbolt doesn't have a "moisture strip." The battery does. Dumbass VZW reps. Can only trust a handful of them at most.

People really need to stop trying to start the bricking paranoia for TBs. I bet Verizon doesn't have any more replaced TB then it does other android phones.

They actually opened up a new thunderbolt and showed me the "moisture strip". The only thing I can think of is that they forgot to put it in earlier models and more recently started shipping with them. They told me that they are going to inspect my thunderbolt for moisture when it gets sent back.
Where is the moisture strip, and what does it look like?
I haven't seen one either, can't even find the cute little dot other phones have. Please send pic of it so we know. Had my TB. Sence week 3 of release.

None here.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
On the thunderbolt the moisture strip is supposed to be in the little crevice opposite of the volume buttons where the two antenna leads are sticking up to contact the back cover.
I'll confirm once my replacement phone comes in a few hours. Hurry up UPS guy!

The description looks like a CC of the LAST update!! (allows disabling the optical touchpad, minor bug fixes)
If anyone gets it, post here what is truly added/removed.
My wife should get it. I gave her my sidekick and unrooted it. I'll post after she gets it.

You don't have to wait! Go to Samsung's site and get the Kies download. You can get it. Now.

T mobile is screwing around and btw the sidekick isn't at its maturity yet so they still will update it
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
I dl'ed this from Kies. Only difference that I noticed is the fact that it doesn't memory leak on me anymore, making it actually usable for more than 5 hours like when it first came out. And still crappy battery performance just like last update. Can't believe I went from 60+ hrs on EDGE with original baseband to 20 with last update and this one.
Same here. Did the Kies update. Same results.

So I've been lurking the TMo forums...finding out that the KJ2 update fixed some problems, to have others creep up. People are getting FC's on Facebook, Gallery issues and again they have to reboot/take the battery out. Sounds as if this was just pushed to buy them time.
Samsung said 100% if the device is under a year it should get update's which it's doing we still have 2 more month's till they discontinue update's .
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
A year? I've heard 18 months until they consider a device "dead". Hmm...
Try Quickpic. Google's stock Gallery is crapware... Love the useless gyroscope motion effect that eats my battery. No reason to power up that component to look at pictures.
I also recommend using the browser for Facebook.. That Facebook app spends all day and night phoning home.. and eating your battery.

anybody else having this issue? Happens atleast once a week, requires removing the battery to reset it..
I have seen this issue posted on other phones, but not on the MT4GS
Did you recently flash the new radio....if so revert back because it was proved that the new radio was unstable without a specific kernel
Total stock rom... I did upgrade to latest sw this week. I will see if it continues
the stock software does seem to have that glitch, where the home screen will have nothing but your wallpaper... apps and widgets will be missing. i had that once on the new update, but i rebooted and it hasn't happened again.
