confused about rom flash

hi i take my friends wizard for update. i cant know anything about the devices history. i read the "Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies" and other update threads.
in this thread after unlocking the phone it says
"Once you have successfully CID unlocked your phone, the next step which is to continue with the upgrade and upgrade back to IPL/SPL version 2.xx, This is a basic requirement to have IPL/SPL 2.xx for upgrading to wm6 Rom,(yes, you need to downgrade then upgrade back...it's just what you have to do however time-wasteful it may seem). Everyone seems to like the T-mobile Official WM5 ROM, so what the heck, I think you'll like it too. Flash it the same way you flashed the Button ROM (double click and go through the installation). so i think the phone is unlocked. but i don't understand if i directly flash a wm 6.1 room to device or i must install "T-mobile Official WM5 ROM" ??

I don't always load the T-Mobile official rom between loading custom roms. BUT, what I've discovered that after loading 2 or 3 custom roms in a row I usually see some kind of strange behavior. When this happens I load the stock T-Mobile rom and then reload everything back (IPL/SPL 3.08 Radio 2.71.11). If the IPL/SPL and radio files from the official rom work, then just use them. They don't have to be updated to work with wm6.1.
My understanding is the 3.08 IPL/SPL is faster loading after a soft-reset than the 2.26. I don't know if this is true, I really haven't seen much improvement in speed.

AldaR, as your ROM is already CID-unlocked, you are free to flash any ROM you want. SuperCID state will not be restored even with IPL/SPL flashing.

I see that you have bootloader 1.30 and that looking good but you check what is writing in bootloader mode (device off, press and hold vol down (-) and press on). Write what you see on three colours screen (what text) ?

Ok you can install RSPL/HSPL, but you must remember that choose the right version SPL when you see question about during the install HSPL.

4.6 is not half bricked.
You have to downgrade before you can install RSPL/HPSL
All you have to do is to flash a stock ROM according with your device and then the road it's clear...

[Q] Downgrade HTC HD7 from 7740

Hello everybody,
Last week I bought a HTC HD7 via ebay. After unboxing it I connected it to my laptop and installed Zune. Zune said that an update is available, so I downloaded and installed it (now I have no recovery point).
As I am very interested in developing and want to have the possibility to modify the device as I want, I wanted to unlock it.
Because I am not already 18 years old, I can't buy a token for ChevronWP7 to unlock it. Normally, students can get free unlocking through DreamSparks, but I live in Germany and neither have an ISIC card nor a .edu-E-Mail-Adress.
So I have to downgrade my HD7 (Ver. 7.10.7740; SPL 5.10.2250.0) to unlock it with the free version of ChevronWP7 for older WP7 versions.
I tried all known methods to downgrade but it didn't work for me.
I can't flash another ROM, the utility says 'Flash Write Error' and I can't restore it, because I haven't made a backup before updating.
The DFT-Tool doesn't work with SPL 5.xx.
Now, I can't downgrade my WP7-Version and my bootloader version.
Is there any possibility for me to unlock my HD7?

[Q] Any solution for halfbrick yet?

is there any solution for a halfbrick (no usb connection in tricolor bootloaderscreen), beside goldcard, yet?
Someone mentioned, that you can "restore" bootloader by using the oem cabs from your phone manufacturer. I tried that (with the mango update for htc and the newest ones via cab sender). They were installed but nothing has changed.

I tried to downgrade spl to 1.x from 5.x using Goldcard method but stuck with "Enter USB host mode" , please note i have made Y cable myself and used 2GB micro SD card as well as 1GB Pen drive.
Please help me
