I doubt sensation camera can beat Iphone 4. Im using htc desire. Its sucks when my gf beats me at her photos taken by her iphone everytime I brag her to join android. Even told me she does need to change any settings.
I know photos from Iphone is a bit un natural n not realistic (thats a win for my desire) but at low light, wow, iphone takes as if it was in a well lighted one.
How about sensation?
At almost pitch dark with LED flash on ofcourse.

With flash or no flash? Can take a picture in pitch black and with the dual LED flash you can't even tell there weren't lights on
Actually this phone takes the best low light pictures of any phone I've had except the iPhone. I'm really liking the camera overall.

It does alright. Don't try to take anything up close because it will completely wash out.
Ill second that, it may not be as good in low light, but it wont quite matter, because this phone has the best flash on it that ive used.
I have both an iPhone 4 and the Sensation and in low light or dark room the iPhone kills the Sensation in picture quality.

The Sensation takes pretty damn good low light photos. The iPhone is currently not the place holder for best low light photo's now. The SGSII takes the best low light photos out of any phone available. There so good that Miriam from Engadget who is a camera whore posted the low light pictures she took with her SGSII to her Twitter account and god damn they looked good.
If SGS2 is in deed can take equal or better than iphone4 in low light. I'll be damn happy. I will investigate myself.

definately one of the best android phones ive seen to rival ip4
SGS takes better low light (no flash) pics than the iP4. No doubt the SGSII will be even better.
Pictures are not so much the problem in low light for the Sensation (or any HTC phone), it's the video that sorely disappoints me.
The iPhone, Arc, Galaxy S2 and Nokia phones keeps a solid 25+ fps in low light where the Sensation just crumbles.

Currently have a g2x but thinking about getting the sensation. Which has the better screen?
Imo the g2x has a better screen
I like the Sensations display a lot better for the fallowing reasons:
1.Direct sunlight performance is much much better that the G2X. Probably the best I've ever seen.
2. It's bigger and can fit more on the screen along with making it easier to type.
3. The RESOLUTION. Text is so much more clear and crisp that when I go back to my G2X after using my Sensation, everything looks fuzzy on the G2X. Also the higher resolution puts more on the display.
4. Colors are brighter and more vibrant. Not as vibrant as a super AMOLED but pretty dank close.
The only categorie the G2X wins is viewing from a angle. The Sensation washes out pretty quick on angle viewing but straight on, its nice
My advice to you would be to take your G2X to the store and hold it next to the Sensation. Make sure both displays are cranked up to full brightness.

Obviously its just personal preference as that's a very subjective question.
That said....the screen on the Sensation in the MAIN reason I switched from my G2x to this.
4.3" SLCD with qHD res and an awesome 16:9 aspect ratio.
As far as REALISTIC viewing angles....this is perfect. Im not often laying flat on the floor with my phone 5 feet away trying to use it....
After owning both phones, I knew I wanted to look at this screen everyday for the next 2 years....

I really liked the G2X screen, but the advantages of having the higher resolution are the main reasons I prefer the Sensation.

Do keep in mind one very important fact.
The Sensation does 1080p @ 30fps in STEREO.

Wifey has the Vibrant
which I imagine is comparable to the GS2 in quality.
No question, I've been spoiled by the Sensation's qHD. I'm an avid book reader on my smartphones, and the extra pixels seem to make a big difference, not to mention real estate on web pages.
The blacks on wife's phone does seem to still be blacker, but I'd rather have the extra pixels.

A problem with every htc phone I've had. Galaxy s and iPhone has the best sound recording.
The issue is, if I recall correctly, that HTC uses a low quality audio codec to record with. Called amr or something like that

I agree with previous posters about the qHD screen. However the G2x's super amoled screen is brighter and has more contrast which makes it better for games and anything with a simple color scheme. But you can't beat the Sensation's screen for movies and TV - the 16:9 aspect ratio and more natural color rendition are an unbeatable combination.

Sounds great on my 7.1 surround HTPC.
The G2x records in mono and it was obvious.
It's plenty good enough quality. Something must wrong with your Mic.
People have commented that it sounds like I'm on a landline when on a call.
Great quality.
Maybe your Mic holes are covered by a case? I don't doubt its crappy on your device....not mine though. Think of it this way ...better to have stereo craps, than mono crap.

hello, I switched from a G2X to a sensation. My sensation is made in China, AUO screen, dated 6/7. Now I see people saying Sharp screens have better contrast, better black. In comparison, my G2x definitely has better screen contrast and darker blue. in terms of Whites, whites are as white as the G2x in the sensation.
I want to ask you guys, what is your sensation's color contrast like comparing to a G2X? please also state your Screen (AUO or sharp)
I have a sharp screen, it's considerably better than my g2x

How do you tell what screen you have?
I have a Sharp screen and a G2X. The blacks are blacker on my G2X but I could give two ****s which display on my mobile device has better contrast. Now if you asked me if I cared about contrast on my 4 LED Samsungs than yes, I do care about contrast and dark blacks on my HD TV'S. I am failing to understand why people care so much about contrast on mobile devices. People should be caring more about text clarity and brightness in direct sunlight. In both of those categories, my Sensation blows the daylight out of my G2X. When reading or looking at icons on my G2X after looking at my Sensation for a while, the display on it looks fuzzy. Seriously, the Sensations display pros far outweigh the G2X pros.

It depends on what panel you have. Why would you only put them to 40% when using it in direct sunlight? I have held them next to each other in direct sunlight, both at 100% and the Sensation is much more clearer. I can take a picture or make a video if you don't want to believe me. Even in a picture, the difference is noticeable.

I have an AUO screen and it's fine. The blacks can be just a bit dull but I mean, the viewing angles really are amazing. If I look on from literally 179° I barely notice any color change.

Interesting post.
I was doubting between getting a Sensation or a G2x, and finally bought a Sensation because of Sense and built quality. Well, I compared my old's HTC legend Amoled screen with Sensation's, and with the device in front of me, both are similar, but when the phones are for example in the car near to the radio (using them as GPS) and I have to look from a distance, legends screen is much better. Of course, I prefer Sensation's because of the size and the resolution, but legend's is easier to look from the distance (more color, light and angle vision)
I suposse G2x's is much better than legend's.
Just an opinion.
Today, I was comparing the cameras on the G2X, and the Galaxy S 4G... The Galaxy S's camera looked much, much better. The colors looked so vibrant! It might've been due to the Super AMOLED Display, but I still don't see how the G2X got voted #1 smartphone Camera. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it's focus is horrible! Would we be able to fix this with software?

I think it definitely is the display that makes the camera/video look better on the Galaxy S 4g. Once the video is uploaded onto a computer then you would know which has better picture/video quality. Don't get me wrong the Galaxy S 4g does take some nice pictures/video's.

dude g2x is way better load those pics onto a computer then talk to me ; )
It definitely shouldn't be the display, G2X has an LCD as opposed to an LED. LCDs are much, MUCH better at displaying colors, they just don't do too well with black. That's why we have screen bleed.
But yeah, the only true method of testing camera quality is to port both pictures over to a computer and put them side by side. As a matter of fact, please do that, I'd like to see the comparison.
I've noticed that quite frankly...the camera ****ing sucks especially in low light areas like bars, I'm fairly sure I've taken better quality pictures with my old k800i! Are there any mods out there at all that can help fix this?

Why not give it a try and see. Also, are you running Cyanogenmod or sense? Sense usually takes much better pictures than cyanogenmod.
Not too much you can do about the hardware limitations, especially in low light conditions like bars.
What I have relied on in the past is using PicSay Pro to correct any photos that I would like to keep that havent come out well. It is very good at adjusting exposure levels, brightness, contrast and colour saturation to make under-exposed shots look much better. Also add a 5% blur to help with grainy pics.
Agree that sense cameras outperform the cm and aosp ones.

HTC has actually added a separate processing core for the camera alone. So a dual-core phone will actually have three cores. The ImageSense chip will not only offload the duties from the regular processor to keep the phone and operating system fast and stable. It will leave the camera completely uninterrupted to take quality, impressive photos. This also allows super-fast shooting possible with a 0.7-second shot time and a 0.2-second autofocus.
Combine that with the 8 megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, BSI Sensors, and smart LED flash with five levels of brightness. The f/2.0 aperture allows for 40% more brightness and light capture than their previous f/2.4 lenses that others are still trying to complete with today.

Well, yess. I have noticed that even the old HTC Desire had better image quality than HTC Desire S. To be honest, Desire S image quality is awful, it's pixelate and dirty. Nevermind am I using stock rom or MIUI. The old Desire had so much better picture quality, of course video quality on new Desire S is way better.
So what the heck, HTC gave us worse camera sensor that before we had?
Any chances to improve camera picture quality?
Lowered quality shots in the dark plague all cameras. Shots on my Desire S are quite ok. If you take the time to do more than just "point-&-shoot", the image quality isn't nearly as awful as you claim (conversely, don't spend an hour "view-finding"). Not to mention pro-quality shots I've taken. And I'm just an average guy with a little more than average skill. But it's still just a phone.
The K-series of Sony Ericsson are camera-phones in the real sense of the word camera. My previous K850i would put many a camera to shame (in its time, it did!). If the pictures matter that much, most cameras are actually cheaper than the phones we tote.

May I possibly ask why?
The One S is a far superior phone, in every way imaginable, camera being one of them. The GS2 camera doesn't have burst mode, or videopic or any of those features. Not only on the software side, but the low light performance is also much better than the GS2.
S2 makes a bit sharper photos in daylight, everything else on one s's side S2 is great phone, one s is superior just in speed over S2.
The one S is better in pretty much every single area by a good amount (including day light/bright conditions), with the sense V4+ update, camera quality improved even further too, colours are more natural and photos look even clearer now. The GS 2 1080P video is better for smoothness and light metering though.
Also the camera UI and the way the one S/sense camera works is far better, got a ton of cool features too i.e. slow motion recording.
Okay. Let's get this right: your wife's phone went swimming. So do you REALLY want to buy the same "ancient" phone for her or a nice new one. That is the question

In my opinion, the One S is definitely better for all aspects of the camera. My light metering also works as advertised and my video recording is very smooth, even in low-light conditions.
As I said, my friend had a GS2, my camera shots were much better in all aspects. GS2 is a much older phone anyway
i have no idea
Though this is an old thread but I wanted to add that One S/X/XL is using the same CMOS with S2/Note2, yes the exactly same cmos from Samsung. Actually, their colour reproduction and details level is almost same.
However, One S added 28mm, f/2.0 aperture and imagechip which transform the camera superior over S2/Note2(f/2.6) and even beat Galaxy S3 out easily. You got much faster focus speed, wide lens and much better quality at low light.
Outdoor photo is pretty much identical to S2 i9100, it only because gsmarena used old ver of OS/camera(ICS 4.0.3) in review and the quality was really really bad at that time I can recall my memory.
