G2X Camera - T-Mobile LG G2x

Today, I was comparing the cameras on the G2X, and the Galaxy S 4G... The Galaxy S's camera looked much, much better. The colors looked so vibrant! It might've been due to the Super AMOLED Display, but I still don't see how the G2X got voted #1 smartphone Camera. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it's focus is horrible! Would we be able to fix this with software?

I think it definitely is the display that makes the camera/video look better on the Galaxy S 4g. Once the video is uploaded onto a computer then you would know which has better picture/video quality. Don't get me wrong the Galaxy S 4g does take some nice pictures/video's.

dude g2x is way better load those pics onto a computer then talk to me ; )

It definitely shouldn't be the display, G2X has an LCD as opposed to an LED. LCDs are much, MUCH better at displaying colors, they just don't do too well with black. That's why we have screen bleed.
But yeah, the only true method of testing camera quality is to port both pictures over to a computer and put them side by side. As a matter of fact, please do that, I'd like to see the comparison.

[Q] Swapping out FFC

Checked around and didn't see an answer to my question, so here it goes:
Is there a way to swap the SGS4G FFC for the Vibrant camera? Or better yet, can I just yank the cam from the SGS4G and put it in the Vibrant?
Thanks for the help.
The two camera's are almost exactly the same, soo yes you could switch out the camera's. the problem is that you might run into banding issues since they could run on different voltages, i had a vibrant n switched the camera out for the I9000 camera and it was terrible in low light.
i would test this if i could, but the screen on my vibrant is broken... =P
hope this helps a bit!
Actually I heard the sgs4 camera has a little transistor to stop the banding. I had a vibrant and I still have the i9000 cameras I didn't install them because the i9000 cameras show banding. I remember reading on the vibrant forums that the banding stopped with sgs4 cameras. You can get them here globaldirectparts.com

Which has a better screen? S4G or G2X?

Currently have a g2x but thinking about getting the sensation. Which has the better screen?
Imo the g2x has a better screen
I like the Sensations display a lot better for the fallowing reasons:
1.Direct sunlight performance is much much better that the G2X. Probably the best I've ever seen.
2. It's bigger and can fit more on the screen along with making it easier to type.
3. The RESOLUTION. Text is so much more clear and crisp that when I go back to my G2X after using my Sensation, everything looks fuzzy on the G2X. Also the higher resolution puts more on the display.
4. Colors are brighter and more vibrant. Not as vibrant as a super AMOLED but pretty dank close.
The only categorie the G2X wins is viewing from a angle. The Sensation washes out pretty quick on angle viewing but straight on, its nice
My advice to you would be to take your G2X to the store and hold it next to the Sensation. Make sure both displays are cranked up to full brightness.

Obviously its just personal preference as that's a very subjective question.
That said....the screen on the Sensation in the MAIN reason I switched from my G2x to this.
4.3" SLCD with qHD res and an awesome 16:9 aspect ratio.
As far as REALISTIC viewing angles....this is perfect. Im not often laying flat on the floor with my phone 5 feet away trying to use it....
After owning both phones, I knew I wanted to look at this screen everyday for the next 2 years....
I'm blown away by this display....gorgeous.

Especially agree with this.
I really liked the G2X screen, but the advantages of having the higher resolution are the main reasons I prefer the Sensation.
I went with the Sensation although G2X might have a better camera. The reason I got the Sensation over G2X was the screen.

Off topic for sec... The still cam quality is debatable.
Do keep in mind one very important fact.
The Sensation does 1080p @ 30fps in STEREO.
The G2x does 1080p @ 24fps in MONO.
HUGE difference in quality for people who use the camcorder a lot....as do I.
Now back to the topic at hand....
Add LCD density for higher res look

THIS. also had to do with my switch. Sensation performs much better than g2x in terms of graphics quality. just too much damn bloatware
I have to agree with the consensus. Qhd really makes quite a big difference. Now if you asked which screen do I like better, SGS2 versus Sensation I would say I don't know.

Wifey has the Vibrant
which I imagine is comparable to the GS2 in quality.
No question, I've been spoiled by the Sensation's qHD. I'm an avid book reader on my smartphones, and the extra pixels seem to make a big difference, not to mention real estate on web pages.
The blacks on wife's phone does seem to still be blacker, but I'd rather have the extra pixels.

You talk about quality, but the microphone on the Sensation is almost unbearable! Where's the quality in that? Who gives a **** if it's stereo vs. mono if it's unpleasant to listen to in the first place?

A problem with every htc phone I've had. Galaxy s and iPhone has the best sound recording.
The issue is, if I recall correctly, that HTC uses a low quality audio codec to record with. Called amr or something like that

Define "better".
I agree with previous posters about the qHD screen. However the G2x's super amoled screen is brighter and has more contrast which makes it better for games and anything with a simple color scheme. But you can't beat the Sensation's screen for movies and TV - the 16:9 aspect ratio and more natural color rendition are an unbeatable combination.

UPDATE: The G2X screen is LCD IPS, not Super AMOLED. (Thanks, jlevy73 and greengoldmello!)

The Mic is fine?
Sounds great on my 7.1 surround HTPC.
The G2x records in mono and it was obvious.
It's plenty good enough quality. Something must wrong with your Mic.
People have commented that it sounds like I'm on a landline when on a call.
Great quality.
Maybe your Mic holes are covered by a case? I don't doubt its crappy on your device....not mine though. Think of it this way ...better to have stereo craps, than mono crap.

G2x uses LCD. The Nexus S and original SGS use super amoled. The SGS2 uses super amoled plus.

The g2x does not have a super amoled screen...no phone out Samsung does. It has an ips LCD, which is a better tech than slcd in my opinion. If the g2x has the same resolution and screen size then it wouldn't even be a competition.

[Q] Does anyone else have Bad Camera resolution?:(

Hi, i hear that LG G2X has a great camera..but Im very dissapointed in mine. Maybe its just mine, but is there a way i can fix it? My Mytouch 4g has better picture quality than the g2x..any suggestions?
this camera is actually not that great. tried taking pictures with back on and off. it does make a small difference but quality still not comparable to the iphone4. even the sensation camera is better. i remember reading a site that rates all camera phone by taking the same picture in same setting with all different kind of smart phone and this phone didn't score well.
I'm pretty dang happy with mine! Whats that site called?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Seems to me that if lighting conditions are correct my pictures are pretty nice. But if it's dark or cloudy, I have to do so much manipulation in the settings to even score a half-way decent pic.
Overall, I'm very happy with the camera. Image quality almost rivals my cheap 5 year old Nikon.

Camera quality

I really like this phone. I'm trying not to compare it to my HTC rezound. I feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong. The camera and picture quality is not as good as the HTC. Maybe in am missing the settings or something. Could someone help me out?
Thanks

The camera quality has been great for me and i'm using the AOSP camera. If your on touchwiz you can try HDR mode, but i always found the regular picture snapping to be pretty great as well.
I always have poor picture detail on any photo I zoom on. I'm not much of a camera expert though, so there may just be other settings I need to adjust in order to get a better picture for zoomed photos.

I very rarely zoom in, unless i'm using macro mode but in that case i'm practically touching whatever i'm taking a picture of.

I've had my S3 for about 4 months.
I had the SE4GT with Sprint prior.
When I first started using the S3 camera, I noticed the following differences in the pictures taken with the S3 compared to the Samsung Epic 4G Touch (S2) :
- in low light, the pictures were grainy with the S3
- zooming in on a picture already taken with the S3 is less sharp.
- the flash has an over saturating effect on the final image in certain instances. (maybe this can be resolved with a change in setting)
When I first purchased the S3, the above differences were very noticeable. 4 months later, I'm just used to them.
I've read that the 2 cameras are the same.
Maybe the quality issues have to do with Super Amoled vs. Super Amoled Plus on the S2. I'm unsure.
With the above being said, the S3 takes great pictures in the Sunlight. The color and sharpness are really nice.
I use camera zoom fx plus it has neat options here's a sample.
Oh that's my little one in her Halloween costume.

camera quality compared to S2 i9100....

want to buy wife One S, she had S2 i9100 that went swimming, if any of you have used i9100 how is it compared to One S.
gsmarena is no help as its picture comparison tool showed one S and even One X pictures way bad than S2 that im finding hard to digest.

S2 has a bit better daylight outdoor photos but it has a lot trouble with focusing in macro. One s seams to make better low light shots.

May I possibly ask why?
The One S is a far superior phone, in every way imaginable, camera being one of them. The GS2 camera doesn't have burst mode, or videopic or any of those features. Not only on the software side, but the low light performance is also much better than the GS2.
S2 makes a bit sharper photos in daylight, everything else on one s's side S2 is great phone, one s is superior just in speed over S2.
The one S is better in pretty much every single area by a good amount (including day light/bright conditions), with the sense V4+ update, camera quality improved even further too, colours are more natural and photos look even clearer now. The GS 2 1080P video is better for smoothness and light metering though.
Also the camera UI and the way the one S/sense camera works is far better, got a ton of cool features too i.e. slow motion recording.
Okay. Let's get this right: your wife's phone went swimming. So do you REALLY want to buy the same "ancient" phone for her or a nice new one. That is the question
Given the nature of women, she will hump your brains out for getting something new and nice .
Oh and Btw, sense rocks compared to whatever s2 has

In my opinion, the One S is definitely better for all aspects of the camera. My light metering also works as advertised and my video recording is very smooth, even in low-light conditions.
As I said, my friend had a GS2, my camera shots were much better in all aspects. GS2 is a much older phone anyway
i have no idea
Though this is an old thread but I wanted to add that One S/X/XL is using the same CMOS with S2/Note2, yes the exactly same cmos from Samsung. Actually, their colour reproduction and details level is almost same.
However, One S added 28mm, f/2.0 aperture and imagechip which transform the camera superior over S2/Note2(f/2.6) and even beat Galaxy S3 out easily. You got much faster focus speed, wide lens and much better quality at low light.
Outdoor photo is pretty much identical to S2 i9100, it only because gsmarena used old ver of OS/camera(ICS 4.0.3) in review and the quality was really really bad at that time I can recall my memory.
