They both seem good but which one provides the best protection for the Epic?
I believe the Otterbox does. But its way too thick and ugly. Id stick with the Active X case just because it already provides good protection, in a slimmer more stylish way.
I've seen several people says the Otterbox clips scratch the keyboard and need to be broken off. That's why the seideo cases have their clips at the top and bottom rather than the sides.
I have the Otterbox Commuter and it's pretty good.
It does add a little bit of bulk to the phone, but it is well protected.
And it certainly does NOT clip the slide-out keyboard or anything like that...everything on it fits like a glove. The top half (bezel) has one side that is chamfered to avoid any possible contact when sliding out the keyboard. Maybe someone else put that bezel on backwards, or they revised the Otterbox for the Epic.
Overall, I'm happy with it...and it came with a good screen protector as well.
My colleagues use the Innocase and it's a great product. It has saved their phones from breaking from being dropped (and in one case thrown) around and landing on marble floors.
I am not sure how great it is for repelling water. I'm assuming that the Otterbox would be better for that.
seido causes scratches also :-(

I just ordered a Seido case since the cheap one i bought at a mall kiosk clips' broke on the front protector. How bad are teh scratches?
I have the active X case the case clips for teh back of the phone clip onto the metallic looking part of the phone so I don't see where scratches would occur. The clips for the face protector is at the extreme top and bottom of the phone as well so I don't see any scratches on my phone.
I think Otterbox is the best protection but they seem too bulky and ugly to me.
Ugly wtf its a case....... and its not bulky its just a little husky
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
love my seido case. adds just the right amount of bulk to the phone.
I also like the belt holster for the Active X case. I usually carry my phone there rather than in my pocket. No way the Otterbox would fit comfortably in my pocket.
I have the Otterbox and my wife has the Innocase.
The Otterbox has given me no trouble while my wife's Innocase has broken 2 clips without having ever pulled it off.
Plus the Otterbox comes with a screen protector.
again. ugly wtf?
I have the otterbox and it doesn't scratch up keyboard. And it protects well from drops. And if its bulky or "husky" that just makes it a tight fit into your pocket and les likely to drop I with good grip. And on the terms of protecting your phone I suggest getting the flygrip as well if you text one handed often

hi,
can any of you guys please give me advice which case should i buy the case-mate pop or otterbox commuter.... the otterbox commuter seems nice but case-mate looks nicer more but at the same time it makes the DHD much bigger right? so if any of you guyz owns both that could give me the pros and cons of both of the cases thanks
Have a read of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819651
I went for a Casemate Barely There when I first got the DHD. But, I didnt think it gave quite enough protection.
I have just ordered a Casemate Pop from Amazon, being delivered tomorrow.
As far as I could tell, the Pop gave less bulk than the Commuter - but thats only looking at the reviews.
I have the case mate pop and case mate tough. If you want a good grip get the case mate tough, I still prefer the case mate tough which is a dual case (silicon and hard) over the pop.
I have the Otterbox Commuter and its not really bulky at all, in fact less than the silicone case I had. Offers very good protection and the volume and power buttons are very easy to use.
The USB and headphones socket has a nice cover, which stops fluff and other pocket stuff getting in the holes
Well worth the 17.99 from play.com, just wish I bought it first, as I've spent money on other cases!

Some people say that otterbox feels like it will fall off the device. And also is the screen well protected, raised from the table if resting on the screen. What is the material like, is it slippery and is it easy to scrach. Are there any problems that you noticed, and do you think that otterbox commuter case is worth its money ?
Thanks

The case will not fall off! It is raised at the edges so will offer protection if you lay it face down. The plastic feels fine, not dropped it yet though. Worth the money? Definitely cheaper than replacing the phone, although I'm sure it cost a lot less than 17.99 to make!
I would definitely buy another commuter case for my next phone

I got the otterbox case as soon as it came out and the plastic hard case has broken near the bottom above the charger/headphone flap. Anyone else had this problem? keen to buy try case-mate this time around. Otterbox's whole ordering system was such a pain
I have the commuter case and I quite like it. I feel much better about carrying my beloved phone around with it on. I don't think it makes the phone bulky. Actually I think it improves the way the phone feels in your hand ALOT. You really notice it when you write in landscape mode. It fits much better into your hands and it makes a better writing experience.
The outer plastic layer feels very tough, and I think it will be hard to make a visible scratch on. The silicone layer inside wraps around the phone nicely and does the job with protecting the screen when you put it screen down/drop it screen down... BUT the silicone wrapping feels a bit thin, and the one at the bottom of the phone is a pain in the ass. It will definitly fall off in the end. It's very loose and my finger keeps lifting it up when I swipe my finger into it...
SO I baught a Case-Mate tough case. I havent received it yet so I can't say much about it, but it looks badass.
I have CM Pop - he like scratches...
is there anyone that has both the otterbox commuter and the case-mate pop so he could tell me which one makes the device bigger. and also i wanted to ask if otterbox commuter is the same thing as case-mate tough -same size.. tnx
I saw comparison Pics of the commuter and the Pop and the Pop Case makes the DHD a lot bigger! It looks nice but I donĀ“t want a bulky smartphone so yesterday I ordered the Otterbox Commuter.( and the Defender..which actually makes the phone bulky but I want to see how the screenprotector works )

my recommendation is case-mate barely there .. it has no bulk , but is low on protection.. you get screen protector with it ..
my friend's phone drop with case-mate barely there , it landed on concrete and not a scratch.
I love the otterbox commuter! Makes the device feel better when holding it. There's no way in hell that this case will fall off if you drop the phone
the pop case is better imo, snug fit and a nice color scheme!
Dont buy cheep china cases they colored your phone
I have an Otterbox Defender, that turns the phone into a real monster of mobile communication. It's very big and heavy, so it's not suitable for all people. But if you use your Phone for outdoor activities, there's no better case.

I also can recommend the Case Mate barely there. The screen protector is very good.
Barely there is a very nice one. I've used it for quite a while, but now i prefer my htc kickstand case with leather finish. Looks great, slightly thicker and heavier than barely there.
O and why stick a piece of plastic on a screen that doesnt need protection in the first place

going to get this phone in a few days (infuse FTW) lol
anyways looking for a case to prevent damage in case of drops, dont care about screen scratch protecting.
basically i dont want it to grip my pocket (super easy to slide in and out)
and as small as possible
thanks
Try one of platinums cases
Android kicks apples ass.. Infused 2.1.0
& like where i could buy it
Best Buy I believe.
Think there's even another thread reviewing it.
Get a tpu case. Definitely non pocket grabbing. Harder than silicone and softer than plastic. extremely flexible. Had it on mine for about 2 months. Dropped my phone from 5 feet and it was fine. You can get them from amazon. About 9 bucks.

I switched from the big brick pop casemate to a TPU case so much thinner and I'm sure its still protective. I rarely drop my phones.

I have an extra brand new incipio sylcrillic case that is on sale in the marketplace if you want it. PM me =P
I have a Ballistic HC. I use it in two modes. If I want to use the belt holster, I leave the outer shock membrane on the phone. It makes it fit into the holster better, makes the phone grippier in your hand, and adds an extra impact-absorbing layer.
When I want to pocket the phone, I ditch the outer rubber layer, and the phone becomes both smaller and less grippy, so that it slides pretty easily in and out of a pocket. The outer layer is plastic with a little shock give and finger grip.
I'll note that I long ago DITCHED the absolutely HORRIBLE, and embarrassing (for Ballistic) screen protector ( you just rip it out along with the loop of adhesive water seal junk) and have replaced it with a "no bubble" silk-top screen protector from the AT&T store. Very nice. A little less water resistant, but, it's worth it.
+1 for the body glove case. It's cheap, available on amazon, and it works. The only problem is the volume keys are exposed but I don't plan on being violent with my phone so that isn't a big deal IMO
Another +1 for the Body Glove here.
I accidentally left my phone on top of my car once, and didn't realize it till a few seconds later while driving about 30 down the road. Got out and found the phone in the middle of the street, still in the body glove, not a scratch on it.
The Incipio Silicrylic Case is what I use. I'm able to slide my phone in and out of my pocket with ease each and every time. Thinnest Case I've seen as well.
Body Glove case works very well for me. Its a harder plastic, so it doesn't stick to things. The size of the phone is what hinders the removal from my pocket. Plus I have big hands. You know what they say about that.

id say get a ballistic case for it if you dont put it all together and stop after the hard case its not bad getting it out of a pocket and its totally covered
I saw reviews on the Casemate but not the Otterbox Commuter and I was wondering by experience which of the two are better and why?
I never tried the Otterbox but I do have the active Seidio vase and Casemate Tough. The casemate is one solid case. Protection all around and it feels great.
Anyone else have any more thoughts? I was going to post the exact same question until I used the feature to search

I have the Case Mate "Barely There" and I must say it is exactly what I expected.
Good protection for the phone back, sides & lower part. The upper part (at the power button) is less protected as you can see HERE but for me it will do.
The design is perfect, it fits like a glove; all case openings for camera lens & volume buttons are at the good location, see HERE & HERE!
Also, the cover is very thin (but still plastic so still better protection than rubber) so the design of my precious Sensation isn't ruined by it.
Finally, I'd suggest to use an original HTC screenprotector together with this case. Your phone will last for years that way. I tried an external party screenprotector but that was a waste of money because of the worse fit.
Hope this helped you a bit, as you asked for Otterman comments
I have both of the cases mentioned and i like them both. They both do there job. My only gripes are that with the otter-box case i have to fully disassemble the case to use my desktop dock. I have always been a fan of otter-box and have used there cases since owning my Hd2 and will continue to be partial to them for that reason, just wished there were a kickstand on the commuter series for the sensation when you buy it.
Thanks for the feedback, how are the usb ports on the otterbox and does the flap close well?
Basically between the two you would prefer the otterbox more?
thanks again

Case mate tough case is better, otterbox seemed like cap and the silicone surrounding the phone was just bad
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
with my experience with the HTC Sensation Pop! Case is was ok. The silicone warped a little bit on the sides but it was very durable. Be careful when taking the phone out of this case because the silicone popped off the hard part of the case on the top.
are you referring to the case mate or otterbox?

the usb ports function well, the flap closes alright a little hard to open and close and i have used case for about four months and the silicone surround is starting to wear a bit but this is because i remove my phone frequently to use with my desktop cradle. I like the design of the otterbox more it is more ergonomic in my book. Here the way i look at it for the money casemate is a just as logical choice as the otterbox. I prefer the otterbox just becasue i like there product and had never used a casemate before. So in my opinion otterbox.
ballistic
try the ballistic case, its awesome, and its cheaper than otterbox, i bought mine off ebay, it has a silicone plus a hard plastic cover on top of it, its very cool
I've got the Casemate Tough on mine. Had it since December, and it's a great case.
Nice and grippy in the hand, but won't stick in your pocket like the silicon ones can.
The only gripes I can have with it are that it's a pain to disassemble to pull the battery or the SD card, and it could do with being in a few different colours.
I always like bright cases on my phones (yellow is a particular fave) because I do a lot of fishing, and it's always easier to see something bright yellow if you drop it or put it down in a hurry!
I'd say it's worth the money.
I'm looking for a replacement for my Otterbox Defender, I'm not very happy with it at all. The outer silicone layer is falling off my case because its becoming too loose, and the hard inner part is cracked to hell and back. And I've only had the case since September and hasn't had any major falls!
So I'm looking into the Kraken case, and from what the website says, it has a built-in screen protector, but on the actual page where you buy it is a self-applicable screen protector. So I was just looking for some feedback and actual answers? Which is it? And is the case any good?
Or are there other suggestions for a rugged case?
I myself returned it. The case is very heavy, the plastic feels cheap, and its not smooth so you feel all these bumps etc in your hand. It doesnt lock into the belt clip easy enough to actually be useable. I have a belt on my pants and the thing was so heavy that it pulled my pants down a good 2 inches. The screen protector is also one you have to put on it there is no built in one. I would email otterbox, they have replaced my stuff several times, all they did was ask me for a about date i bought it, and asked me for a picture of the damaged case all i had to do was write the date on piece of paper and include it in the picture and they sent me new one within like maybe a week to two weeks at no cost.
I would really recommend the Ballistic SG. it's under 19$, but is superb. The best part is the buttons remain perfectly usable.
Do pair it with a wet application screen protector, but the design should generally prevent any part of the screen impacting any surface.

I'll 2nd the Ballistic SG. Had it since June and still love it. The only car dock I liked was the ibolt, but the phone wouldn't fit with the case on, so I had to mod the ibolt with a Dremel to make it fit. This case would be perfect if it had a compatible car and desk dock accessory option.
i wouldnt really say ballastic is what this person is looking for to me its like mid range protection id assume they ment same level as otterbox and the ballastic gels lip is not anywheres as big as the one on the otterbox so , ans skin to me is kinda thin id just email otterbox ask for replacement.
I've gone through two replacements for my Defender since I first posted. Sure Otterbox has had no problem sending them to me free of charge. But this is ridiculous. Its just not sturdy enough. It feels like cheap plastic.
I've also looked into the Ballistic cases. But the one I really want they don't make for my phone. Sad day.
i honestly cant find anything i like for one x i wish i didnt get this thing im trying to trade it out. but im using generic ballastics case. it does job not as cheapy feeling but the rubber does leave some like smudges on back of my phone if u find anything let me know.

Indeed. These things are great. They've gone up in price a bit, but are still really worth it. The rubber part never stretches out because of the plastic and ballistic that goes around it sort of keeps it nice and tight on your phone. Definitely worth getting.
Ok, going to by this phone for my wife as well as a case for it. Problem is, she drops her old phone like crazy and I've had to replace her cheap plastic case on it probably 6 times in the past 2 years.
So what is the most protective case for this phone vs. drops? I've tried looking around, but only see some cheap flimsy cases as well as the Otterbox Commuter. Anything else? Is the Otterbox a pretty protective case?
I like my Otterbox Commuter. I'd say of all the cases available (that I've seen) it will protect it the best.
With that said, I used to have an iPhone 4s with an Otterbox Defender case - and this commuter case does not come close to protecting as well as the Defender case. But, because of the sliding keyboard I'm not sure a Defender-style case would work.
Or at least put the same grippy rubber material on the Commuter case.... That's probably my biggest complaint with the Commuter case, it makes the device slippery instead of grippy.
Regardless, I don't think you'll find a more protective case than the Commuter.
Agreed, I dont think you will find a more protective case than the otterbox. That being said, I dropped my photon Q about 2 feet with the otterbox commuter and the clip on the corner of the screen protector broke so now plastic ring for the screen sits on there still but one corner is flimsy. I can see with more drops eventually the clips will all break and I will be forced to buy another otterbox. The price you pay I guess.

Otterbox on the following devices (mine and family/friends):
HeroC, HD2, Evo3D, GalaxyNote, Photon Q, Droid 4, Evo Design, Galaxy Tab, and a few others I cant remember at the time but are mostly friends/family's, IE not mine personally, just helped them get their own
