How is it that you're familiar with build.prop, rooting, and CoreDroid, yet somehow managed to miss the three or so related threads in the dev section on this extremely popular subject?

I'm sorry Scott, I tried a few times to search it but couldn't find the right one. Is it possible to give me the link or aleast tell me how to do a proper search, you know how noobs are now a days.

You don't have to search anything. Go to the dev section, browse a few pages of the threads there, and you'll start seeing speed related threads.
And there's no special trick to searching or browsing that "noobs" aren't privy to.
I will share the Tips here to increase the internet speed....
If you want the better speeds right now, all you have to do is root your phone and edit your build.prop file.
You can check the Uploading and Downloading speed at here IP-Details.com

All areas are not the same... I travel all across the country, I've been in areas that are hitting 1. 6 easily and consistently. Others barely getting.4
If possible... Check with some others in your community and ask what they're getting.

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before, but I did do a search and came up with nothing. A buddy of mine was telling me about editing the build prop on his vibrant to increase data speed. I wanted to do it but wanted to get some input first so I don't mess anything up. Does anybody know if this works or if it's even relevant for our phones? I'm running cm7 #124 and faux 4.1. This is the post that I was referencing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1151608
He says that his data speeds have improved since applying the tweaks. My question is if this will work for any gsm phone. Has anybody tried this or know a little more information? I'm not a noob, I just don't know anything about editing build props. The info that I could find only pertained to the Vibrant, HTC Inspire, & some threads on a Motorola forum.
when I click the link it says page not found try reposting he link please I would like to seewhat you are talking about. I too dont know anything about that stuff and would like to know more about this also.

His address cut off the ...thread.php?t, below should work.

I'd like to see if this works
has anybody test this? does it works?
So I'm still new too most of this but have tried a bunch of ROMs, flashed countless radios and RILs, gps fixes, gps hardware fix, and I use SetCPU for underclocking (mostly). But I've been reading that undervolting can help save battery life quite a bit. The problem is I don't know where to start looking to do this. Saw there was something by killersloth to do it, but cant find a link that works to get it.
I thought it could be done through SetCPU but since this is new to me, I'd like some advice/guidance. I've searched but nothing comes up on the Inspire for it really (3 threads but no guides). Can anyone point me in the right direction?
For future reference might wanna post in the q and a section.
Check out lords thread at the link below. You will find all info about uv scripts, under clocking, and over clocking. Personally I have used killersloth many times in the past and woeked great.

Thanks. Searching in these long threads , once thread reaches certain length, becomes impossible. Not to mention getting your q's answered
Not getting DATA.
^ THIS is why the ICS beta for G2x is not posted here.
CM9 is not a full release, has a bunch of disclaimers attached to it, and is not yet supported.
Devs that bust their as*es on a rom for 5 months or so don't want to put up with a bunch of "this won't work, that won't work, please help me" posts as soon as their rom is made available. Unfortunately, that is what the majority of the thread over in General consists of. So guess what will happen when the release is posted in Development?
Spend some time searching around and reading the threads. The answer to your issue is out there. If you're not willing to find it, then go back to whatever rom you had before.

In your mobile networks settings, within the apn you use, make sure encryption is explicitly set to something, even if it is none. My carrier needs none, but cm7 on my phone defaulted in none set, which wouldn't work.

Hate to admit it cuz im a nice guy usually but your right. Sometimes i even would go as far as saying i wish our g2x wouldnt even receive ics, so at least most if not all the crybabies would leave our forums and do that **** elsewhere.
Ya we were all noobs at one point but if you finished at least grade school you know how to read, so do some damn reading up in the forums and quit being spoonfed by the pros.

Please search for your answer man, a lot of this has been covered in numerous threads.
Radios are all subjective to the user. Two people could live right next to each other and have the same radio and get different results. The link to all the radios you'll ever need to try out are in the dev section in the radio thread. I would say start there. There are also APN and build.prop edits that some swear by that improve speeds. Give a search for those in the dev section as well.
edit because I'm feeling nice and really bored at work:
Radio thread
Build.prop edits
APN settings

I just wanted to say thank you! I changed my APN like the thread said, and now Im getting 5.7MB DL avg of 10 Speed Test, and 1.3up. you have no idea how much you helped me man. Thanks!
I have done a speed test on my 700 and results are as follows;
Download: 0.26 mbps
Upload: 0.39 mbps
Ping: 1354 ms
Are these typical speed numbers for this device?
My carrier is Frontier. My router is a belk 300n.
Thanks for any help you can give to me, my buffering seems endless, and at other times worse.

So what am I to do+ to get a better signal,?
help
I see that this forum is like so many others. A place where people like me, look for help
And get nothing for our effort. But you may not know this, but this statement of mine
will get all kinds of responses, but my plea for help received no helpful responses. Go

This forum was not founded for people like you. You didn't indicate in your posts that you spent *any* effort on solving your problem yourself, so why should we put in more effort than you?

If you think that my previous response was not helpful, I am deeply sorry, but it is not my job to debug your router or internet connection.
thanks

I knew that i would be at fault for asking for help. I do not remember asking you to do anything for me. I was, asking for help, you know, where i ask what can i do, and you say try this or that.
If i knew anything at all, about how to address this problem i would have told you what i had tried, so as not to have you tell me to do the things i had already tried, but as it stands, i did nothing, because i know nothing, and, nothing is what i got from you, so i guess ironically we both, had the same solution.
I told you that my statement would get a response, note in the statement i did not ask for a response, and got one, while asking for help, received no help.
I wish i knew more so i would not have to ask for help, especially from assholes like you
Thread Closed
I'm going to close this thread, based on the following reason;
OP seems unwilling to post in an appropriate manner.
Dear mowpar, you cannot come onto XDA and posting in the manner you have done. In fact, it's totally condescending. And people take offense. Even those who want to try and find a solution to your issue,
You have to understand, most people, do not have the Provider you refer to, And at least one, tried to get a little more info from you. Although the answer is not what you wanted, it does not mean you have to "whine and complain" when you don't get an "immediate" answer.
You have 2 resolutions.
1. Install a custom rom where you have control over whether to use 2G or 3G for data transfer,
2. Choose a different Service Provider. I can attest that a change in providers made a big difference on 3G data transfer.
Your router will probably not make a difference, although I do not rule this out.
But to behave in a manner like such, is not within XDA acceptability. Maybe it is ok in your country, but not here.
So this thread is closed.
Thanks to the other XDA members that didn't exasperate this thread. Kudo;s.

If the OP wishes to have the thread re-opened, then the OP may show a little more maturity, and ask that it be re-opened.
