Splash screen - General Questions and Answers

Just wondering exactly what it is??
Sent from my ass using tapatalk

It's the image before the boot animation usually a carrier or manufacture logo
sent from my heroc

yeah, its the boot screen basically but you can customise it to make it something interesting or funnny, like android pissing on apple

No you are confusing something, what you are talking about is the BOOTANIMATION.
The splashscreen is the usually static image shown BEFORE the bootanimation.
It is usually the first thing that shows when turning a device on.

Cool I see people post em and always wondered

if your s-off you can do your on splash screens.

they are flip transitions by wowthatisrandom (i think if not im sorry)
what you have to do is put them in the system/framework/frameworks-res.apk/res/anim in your rom
heres the thread you can download them from here
the one for the lockscreen is lock_screen_enter or maybe lock_screen_behind_enter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813162&highlight=wowthatisrandom
I'm surprised no one has made an update zip for this.

im working on making one but i have so many projects that im trying to keep up with all
the requests on my threads and trying to pump out forum requests at the same time.
from what i've heard, they're cool for like a week then they just get annoying and viewed as little more than a battery waster. kinda like live wallpapers i guess, but moreso in my opinion. you can get it with sound too; ie lightsaber power on, lightsaber power off

I don't see how this can be compared as a battery waster like live wallpapers. Those are actual running services and consistant animations over long periods of time. This is merely a transition animation that runs and terminates only when pressing the sleep button and lasts for half a second. The worst this would do is kill like 1 or 2 minutes off of your total battery charge, unless you are locking and unlocking your phone every 10 seconds.

I put these in and they dont seem to work... My phone will occasionally use the exit lockscreen transition but never the enter one
Check out Repdemption 1.9. Lou has all 4 as flashable zips. He has based it off the latest EVO framework releashed this week. It also runs the latest leaked HTC Kernal. Well worth a look.

The Flip animations do what you are explaining. There are bounce, fly and fold as well and these only seem to work with the menu's.
Flash it and check it out.
I dont think youre understanding. The video is showing a cool animation when the screen turns OFF. Youre talking about transition animations in windows flipping around. I used redemption and it does not have this in it.

Downanimation dimensions

Any of you animators know why the boot animation can be 240x400 or 480x800, but the shutdown animation can only be 480x800?
Sent from my thing using another thing.
The only thing that I could assume is that something is coded in the system to specifically look for those dimensions for the down animation. From everything I have researched the dimensions for the animations and splashes are supposed to be 480x800 for these phones. Sorry if this is not helpful. I am just throwing out my hypothesis.
In the rom I'm using, there are boot animation and down animation settings in default.xml, but only for frame rate, not dimensions.
Someones got to know how to do this
Sent from my thing using another thing.
Anyone?
Sent from my thing using another thing.
Not sure about the down animation, I'll do some tinkering with it and see if I figure anything out, as to boot animations, they can be any size really as long as the thing fits within 480x800
Any luck?

[SPLASH] Silver/Black Splash Screen for Rooted Inspire 4g

I didn't like the regular splash screen (green letters on white background), so i did some research on how I might do this and searched for a better image.
Attached is a PD98IMG.zip file which can be used to replace your splash screen image (the image that is shown first when powered on). Also attached is an image of what the new splash screen will look like.
Install it as you would any other PD98IMG file [PHONE MUST HAVE S-OFF]:
1. Place the file in the root directory of your SD card
2. Power on your phone while holding down on your side volume key
3. After a few seconds, HBOOT will detect the PD98IMG file and ask you if you want to start update
4. Press up on the volume key to install the new splashscreen
5. After update is complete, it will instruct you to press power to reboot
I haven't made an image to use to revert to the original, mainly because i think no one would want to go back to green/white after seeing the silver/black in action!
If requested, I can make an image that will revert to green/white.
I can also make custom splash screens if people are interested!
Post any questions to this thread and I will answer them promptly.
cool i like it, although ENG s-off is not required. radio s-off worked just fine for me. ENG s-off is scary, ide never try it. lol quick question, ive been looking for windows software to resize my images to 480x800 to make my own splash screens, any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll update OP.
Glad you like it.
I have always used Photoshop, but Picasa 3 from Google will allow you to resize and crop (among other things). I just opened picasa for the first time and it actually looks pretty nice!

Did the best I could... I tried it, and i like it, except i'm not big on white backgrounds
The bigger the resolution of the original image, the better it'll look. Regarding text, it may be best to add text to an image that is already 480x800 to keep it sharp.
The attached thumbnail has been shrunk down.... the real thing looks better. I just wanted to include the thumb so people know what they are getting.
Also, I snagged that silver/black HTC pic from another phone's forums a few days ago. I tried finding it again to give credit to whomever made it, but I couldn't find it. If anyone knows where it was originally posted, lemme know so I can credit the creator.
I like this slash, clean, simple, and dark

If you can find an animated GIF or MPEG movie that you like, I can probably do that.

I'm ok with the stock boot animation, if it were colored black and silver like your splash screen, or something similar. I'm sure there is something already out there. I just haven't looked since the boot animation isn't something I see too often.

Thanks to mudknot2005, I have my boot animation. It is green HTC on black, but it looks much better than green on white and it compliments this splash screen nicely. Having removed the long AT&T boot animation now has my phone booting much faster, like it should be booting. Now to find a down animation.

Thanks for this, I hated the bright white screen. Looks much better now.
Little help here.....I put on root of sd card and still doesn't flash....does the whole "no image" thing.
clockworkmod anything to do with it?
I have Eng S-Off

Yo have to go into HBoot... Power your phone off completely... Hold the volume down while pressing the power button... The phone should see it once your in HBoot... I think you have to press volume up to load it, then reboot... Hope this helps...
If you are doing the above process and still receive error, try redownloading the file...

The above should help you... also make sure the file hasn't been renamed. It should be PD98IMG.zip
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
Thanks
Unfortunately, I've done all that and double checked....anything else?
Maybe my sd card is corrupting....it has been acting really really strange, not being able to access it...but i'm not touching anything until the next CD rom gets fixed/released...too many variables (process of elimination FTW)

Boot Screen Animation Question

ok i haven't posted in a while but have recently been toying around with my phone again and i recently came across a boot animation i really want on my hero. i know a lot of people have moved on to bigger and better phones but i still use my hero every day i <3 the little phone.
Here's a link to the video of it. i tried changing the numbers in the DESC.txt file to change the resolution to fit the hero but i just get a blank screen then it loads on up. so what am i doing wrong? from what i understand that should be all i need to do to make it fit and work, or is it a bit more involved than that? is there something else that needs to be done like changing the resolution of every part file?

[Q] How do I change the resolution of a boot animation?

Make a new Droid Razr boot animation, only use larger pictures. The screen resolution of the N5 is much larger.

I really don't know how to do something like that. Which program do I use? And there are so many images..
if youre asking how to adjust a setting to make it look bigger on your screen, then you cant do that, theres nothing for you to adjust.
Why've you made a 2nd thread?
We already told you what to do in your other thread

Irfanview has a batch resize function.
So here's the problem: I am using an app called Boot Box. Whenever viewing the preview of the boot animation, it shows the boot animation in full screen. However, when installing it and rebooting my phone, it still shows the small boot animation.
We understand the problem. You need to resize the png images using an application!
