Boot Screen Animation Question - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

ok i haven't posted in a while but have recently been toying around with my phone again and i recently came across a boot animation i really want on my hero. i know a lot of people have moved on to bigger and better phones but i still use my hero every day i <3 the little phone.
Here's a link to the video of it. i tried changing the numbers in the DESC.txt file to change the resolution to fit the hero but i just get a blank screen then it loads on up. so what am i doing wrong? from what i understand that should be all i need to do to make it fit and work, or is it a bit more involved than that? is there something else that needs to be done like changing the resolution of every part file?

Desire Lockscreen

The GSM Hero guys have it working, figured it's probably a fairly easy port for someone.
Original thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676259
The working(for them) update.zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6806909&postcount=25
Example video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vfXrqa0UwY @ 1:01
The Desire Lockscreen when swiped down slides only the bar, not the entire wallpaper+bar which results in a much nicer looking unlock.
Anyway we could get this ported over? I'm running Fresh 2.3.3.
EDIT: I tried pushing it via ADB. It works, technically. Only the bar slides down. However the graphics are all buggy But it is much smoother!
probably cause its a higher res app. Needs to be reduced to what the lockscreen app in our roms are at. Meaning resize the pngs in the app to match the size of our lower Res lockscreen app
whats so special bout the lockscreen?

Not being rude but there is a video and links to other threads with pics. Why ask that question. Makes u look ignorant

No i was with him. I watched the video and didn't see anything special. For the time it took you to type this you could have simply told him what the difference was.
The difference is...in the desire it pulls just the lock bar down. Not the picture as well.
I would be interested in this.

I guess I do not know how to take this comment. I would like to think you are actually thanking me for pointing something out, but it definitely appears to be sarcasm. At any rate, I was simply pointing out that the features had been listed in text, and that if someone watches the video and doesn't understand maybe it's time for said person to read the description.
Thanks.

Wow this thread got real crazy real fast Anyways imo I think that since it's just the htc lockscreen in the update zip than i'm gonna guess that is whats going to need to be changed. I adb pushed it and although it is really crazy I still like it.

Looking for something like This?

Can someone with a Shift help me out - app test

Hiya -
Got an email from someone saying that they have a problem with my app which has been tested on quite a few devices and emulators but someone with a Shift is having a problem.
Not sure if it's specific to the phone, or firmware (guy is running 2.2) but if someone would be so kind as to download my (free) app and hit the trail map button and let me know what happens, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys!

It's possible that the shift handles outofmemory errors differently, not really sure but that's what im thinking at the moment

Working..only thing is when I zoom the picture doesn't resize so I can't read text or really see trails but yea its working
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
yeah, I reduced the image size from something like 3000x2000 to about 800x600
I was catching out of memory errors and then increasing the image scaling and retrying to load the image but it seems like the Shift is doing something different when the OutOfMemoryError is thrown. The code looks something like this:
Code:
try {
imageOptions.inSampleSize = sampleSize;
mBitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.map, imageOptions);
} catch (OutOfMemoryError e) {
sampleSize *= 2;
// and then try to open again
}

Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
I'm not sure really - just got an email from someone with an Evo Shift but I don't know about other phones. My hypothesis is that the Shift is catching OutOfMemory Errors before I can, but I have nothing to back this up. You're still getting the same black screen and then the activity closes?
Thanks for taking the time to help, much appreciated.
Not with the update 3 I think was the one I d/l it was just that I couldn't read the image
Sent from my HTC Knight using XDA App
Yeah, v3 of the test just uses a much smaller image. So that means all the code for displaying the image, zooming, pannibg, etc. works fine. The error is in loading the full ~3000x2000 px image (in the zip file link or on the actual Mammoth app).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Have you posted in the evo forum to see if they have the same problem..they might not cause the res is bigger but id try there and with the hero section to see if either have problems or if its just the shift

Transformers decepticon boot animation with optimus sound

I no longer have an evo and do not actively check any threads i have created for the evo in the past, if you have a question and I do no answer in a timely manner please send me a private message and I'll do my best to help you out.
Heres a boot animation that I found, it's the transformers decepticon logo and digital rain looping, with transformers audio. I don't know who made the original animation to thank them but if someone knows please let me know so I can give them proper credit.
to use this open terminal and type
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource
adb push SPC_final_animation.mp3 /system/customize/resource
Thanks guys, I'm still trying to make a better animation using screen caps from the movie but it's already 3:30 am and my wife is gonna kill me if I do this all night
SPC_final_animation.mp3
bootanimation.zip This is the new resized one it fills the screen properly.
By the way, if theres any problems I'm sorry I'm kind of tired
hey man. nice work. saw this a long time ago, and have been searching for it since. love it. thanks for the contribution.
if you want, i can whip this up into a flashable zip for the peepz
That would make it extremely more convenient, I haven't had time to create a flashable zip

you need to resize both the actual .png files (yes, each one individually) and the desc.txt must be modified to support that resolution you resized to.

Ok I found the problem, the call outs in the base desc file were incorrect, I'll have to change it when I get home and am on my laptop, for some reason the set up is for 320x480 I have no idea how that happened but I will have it changed it'll probably be about 3 hours or so though.
I was waiting for someone to do this! Are the zips flashable through recovery, or do I replace the existing bootanimation file with this one?
Ok I fixed the problem, I'm uploading the new one now it will be in the original post.
Rob the zips I uploaded must be pushed through ADB
DK's are the flashable zips
i'll update my flashables with the new boot.zip probably later tonight.

Here is the audio I have been using with this for a while.

[SPLASH] Silver/Black Splash Screen for Rooted Inspire 4g

I didn't like the regular splash screen (green letters on white background), so i did some research on how I might do this and searched for a better image.
Attached is a PD98IMG.zip file which can be used to replace your splash screen image (the image that is shown first when powered on). Also attached is an image of what the new splash screen will look like.
Install it as you would any other PD98IMG file [PHONE MUST HAVE S-OFF]:
1. Place the file in the root directory of your SD card
2. Power on your phone while holding down on your side volume key
3. After a few seconds, HBOOT will detect the PD98IMG file and ask you if you want to start update
4. Press up on the volume key to install the new splashscreen
5. After update is complete, it will instruct you to press power to reboot
I haven't made an image to use to revert to the original, mainly because i think no one would want to go back to green/white after seeing the silver/black in action!
If requested, I can make an image that will revert to green/white.
I can also make custom splash screens if people are interested!
Post any questions to this thread and I will answer them promptly.
cool i like it, although ENG s-off is not required. radio s-off worked just fine for me. ENG s-off is scary, ide never try it. lol quick question, ive been looking for windows software to resize my images to 480x800 to make my own splash screens, any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did the best I could... I tried it, and i like it, except i'm not big on white backgrounds
The bigger the resolution of the original image, the better it'll look. Regarding text, it may be best to add text to an image that is already 480x800 to keep it sharp.
The attached thumbnail has been shrunk down.... the real thing looks better. I just wanted to include the thumb so people know what they are getting.
Also, I snagged that silver/black HTC pic from another phone's forums a few days ago. I tried finding it again to give credit to whomever made it, but I couldn't find it. If anyone knows where it was originally posted, lemme know so I can credit the creator.
I like this slash, clean, simple, and dark

Thanks to mudknot2005, I have my boot animation. It is green HTC on black, but it looks much better than green on white and it compliments this splash screen nicely. Having removed the long AT&T boot animation now has my phone booting much faster, like it should be booting. Now to find a down animation.

Yo have to go into HBoot... Power your phone off completely... Hold the volume down while pressing the power button... The phone should see it once your in HBoot... I think you have to press volume up to load it, then reboot... Hope this helps...

Making boot animations?

How do I make them? I was trying to search but the search on the app is not working
Sent from my LG-P999
It's really easy. A bootanimation is like a flip book, just a bunch of pictures that get strung together quickly. Add a desc.txt file that controls the displayed image size, frame rate, and method of presentation. Zip that all together making sure that you select store as the compression method, and then you're done.
Edit: Here is a good link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212555
Greatly appreciated

No problem. I doubt you will, but if you have any questions feel free to pm me or ask in your thread. I made bootanimations as a start to theming, so I know a little about them.
