For the past 5 days I have not able to answer any calls while my phone is locked. I have tried deleting all my apps and doing a master reset and can not figure out what the problem is. As soon as I set the phone down and wait 30 seconds for it to lock I can not answer any calls unless I keep the screen on which is draining my battery. I really love this phone but this problem is very annoying. I have to decline the call and then call them right back. Has anyone experienced this yet with their phone? I hope I'm not the only one.
Are you using some kind of application to lock/unlock your phone, instead of the power button or screen time out?
I had the same problem when I used tasker to put a delay on the lock when my screen turns off. In tasker I have set it to unlock the phone as soon as the screen turns off, wait 10 secs, then lock again if the screen is still off. I had this setting so that I do not need to keep on unlocking if the screen suddenly turns off while I'm still using the phone. This caused my call screen to only display the 'end call' button when a call comes in. After disabling the rule on tasker, I did not have that problem anymore. So if you are also using another app to lock the phone, that might be your problem.
I had an app called Mr. Number installed and it was causing the same problem on my phone. Once I uninstalled it, incoming calls worked just fine.
I did have the app Mr. Number installed and since uninstalling it have had no problems. I emailed Mr. Number and they're trying to get a sensation to test this problem on so I dont know how long this problem will last.

I do not have auto lock turned on. I did load the VZW "clean up" cab. I can't figure out why sometime when I pick up the phone the lock is on, and other times the screen is simply turned off. I never hit lock, simply turn off screen or let it go off automatically.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks.
Are you sure you are not hitting the top button accidentally. That button will turn off the screen.
I do use the top button. It only turns off the screen though, not locks the device. I can use it, then hit it again minutes later and the device is fine. But sometimes I'll put the phone down or aside for a while, and when I pick it up to answer a call or something I'll find it has locked itself and I have to press the soft keys.
hmm... sounds strange, I gotta go with what the 2nd guy said, I will sometimes lock the device myself (the soft key for it is on the home screen after all and it's VERY sensitive). About the screen turning off, you sure it's not just going into it's timed sleep/standby mode?
hopefully this will be of some help...i too had this problem and then i realized what the cause of MY problem was...whenever i would receive a phone call and would let it go to voicemail, when i would wake the phone back up it would be locked...i cant remember if the same thing happened when i answered the call but i know for sure it would do it when i pressed ignore call or mute ringer and let it go to voicemail...SOLUTION:i downloaded a cab called disable auto lock (or sumthing like that) and it fixed the problem...hopefully that helps..

I've been trying to figure this out as well and came to the same conclusion. My screen is off, I answer a call, and when I hangup my screen is locked. I did a quick google search for disable auto lock and didn't have much luck. Can you post the name of the file and where you got it? Thanks
Not sure where I found it, I think PCGeeks, but it was called Disable_Auto_device_lock.cab
HOWEVER...it did not work for me. I may have to cold reboot (from scratch) as I've tried so many different cabs, things are getting messed up. I'm trying to hold off for the ROM update.
The phone will automatically lock if you miss a call. Sometimes if you pick up on the last ring the phone will consider it a missed call and still lock the phone. That has happened on my 6700, my 6800 and now my TP2, but this is the first phone that locks after a missed call. I actually like it becuase since I dont have a S2U2 or 6.5 on the phone it prevents butt dialing if I leave my phone in my pocket or soemthing.
I have noticed the same issue. I also noticed that it did not happen before I had installed the clean up cab. I had thought that the lock button was being hit while the phone was in my pocket.
Although the "Disable auto..." didn't work for me, I down loaded and am trying S2U2. So far, and if I'm not mistake, It did not lock me after a missed call, or answering a call.
I'm going to play with it for a while. Had something similar before on my old Q9c so if it works, great!
I just hope all these friggin cabs work when I update to 6.5, or I may not! The only real pet peeve I have about the TP2 is earpiece volume. If the cab volume booster doesn't work, I won't upgdate!
I have this issue as well. It seems to lock if the person that calls me hangs up before I do. It also locks if I ignore a call. I have had it lock in the middle of a call as well. Really annoying if I need to use the onscreen keyboard to enter information during the call.
I hope someone can find a solution for this. So far, it's my only complaint about this phone.
Well, I've been using S2U2 now for a couple of days. Getting to like it! My screen no longer locks, and I kind of like the Iphone type unlock. When a call comes in 2 nice large buttons for either answer, or end (ignore).
You may want to try it.
Mine does the occasional random lock also and when it does, it wants a password that does not exist. IF anyone knows what the standard password is, please let me know. I don't have one set and need to reboot when this happens. Really my only beef with the phone which hopefully gets fixed in 6.5
I have found that if I receive an SMS the screen will come on on its own. In those circumstances I have seen it lock the screen afterwards.
I am thinking it is a failsafe put into the phone for accidental button hits after the phone wakes up from certain activity but could be in a pocket.
The problem started about a week ago. Whether it was coincidence or not I don't know but around the same time the software updates through OTA update and u replaced the battery (Zerolemon 7000).
Anyway, what happens is that if my phone is asleep and I get a call or text, the screen comes on, but I can't answer the call or text (screen is unresponsive) until I tap the power button twice to turn the screen off and then back on. At that point the screen works perfectly.
I've tried clearing the cache and changing batteries but it didn't change anything.
Any ideas? I'm completely stock and unrooted.

Hello,
I have a issue that is bothering me since my past phone, however I haven't been able to find a solution on the web, so I finally decided it was time to ask the experts on XDA.
When I'm on a call on my nexus 5 using the loudspeaker (while driving or while using my PC at work), the screen locks after a period of time (which I guess it is the time I have set up on the display settings) after that I can't unlock the screen without clicking the power button, however I have my phone set up to end the call when I press the power button during a call, so every time the screen is locked during a call I have to end that call and redial, this is quite frustrating during calls to automated systems (when you have to input the options you are looking for) or while on a call with a coworker and suddenly you have the need to get another person into a conference call.
I know that if I use the phone on the ear (not on speaker mode). It works flawlessly as the sensor turn on or off the screen, but while on speaker it does not work that way.
Is there something wrong with android in general or with the nexus 5 only? Or it is there a setup I'm missing?
I know an option it to disable the power button ends call option, but this is a "smart" phone it should have to be smart enough not distinguish between ending the call and unlocking the screen during a call.
Isn't there an app for that? Or a workaround?
I know we can survive without these fickle requests but hey It will be a nice feature to have on either the phone or the OS
Thanks
Never heard of this before.
I think it's something with the proximity sensor on the right side of the speaker above the screen. Well, I think you should disable the End call on power button option.
Normally, as soon as you move the phone from your face, the sensor detects the distance and starts the screen.

how can it tell if you want to end the call or try and turn the screen on? it might be a smart phone, but it doesnt know your intentions.
disable that option if you want to do what you're wanting to do.
Are you rooted ? If so use volume rocker wake
Nexus 5 xposed + gravitybox
Nope, not rooted yet, I purchased my Nexus 5 on the US playstore but I live in Mexico, so I might root it after warranty expires, The nexus 5 is quite expensive in Mexico, so if something happens to my phone after rooting I will be pretty much phone orphan for a while

Well I didn't meant it to guess what I want to do, I meant something like an "if" command line, for example ( I don't know jack about android coding)
If speaker = Off
and
Screen = on
or
Screen = off
Then
Power button = End call
If speaker = On
and
Screen = on
Then
Power button = End call
If speaker = On
and
Screen = off
Then
Power button = unlock screen
Something like that...
Hope this makes sense

Hi batmanforever69 (that's a cool nickname)
Yes the proximity sensor works, after I take the phone away from me it turns the screen on, but I left it away from me eventually the screen locks, I tried volume buttons, shaking the phone, tapping the screen on several places, and bring the phone to my ear then away again, but nothing worked... Only power button and of course it ends my call
I wonder... What about the LG G2... That phone has the knock on feature... That must work for this issue... I hope Google can integrate the knock on code on future android releases

Hello everyone.
I have a couple of problem with my xperia Z3. The problem is that when i press the side button to lock the phone, the phone get locked but the screen seems to be still on(and then turn completely off after a few seconds) . I mean that even if the phone is locked it's like i am seeing a completely black image. This doesn't always happens with Android KitKat but with the Lollipop upgrade i made yesterday flashing a generic Baltic firmware, the problem got worse! When it happens the screen stays on even after few seconds and it doesn't turn off and i'm forced to restart the phone to "solve" the problem. If it helps, when the phone locks fine the screen turns off immediatly but when the phone has this problem when i press the lock button i can see for a moment the screen locked, with the clock, the padlock icon, the fast dial icon and the fast camera icon ecc and then the screen turn black(but still on) like "something is slowing/blocking the phone from getting locked"
The second problem that i have is that sometimes when i make a call or recieve one when i put the phone to my ear the screen doesn't turn off and the tousch screen still works making me end the call unintentionally touching the screen with my ear for example. I haven't had this problem yet with Lollipop, but I used to have it with KitKat. Anyway this is the less important problem that i'd like to solve because even if the phone should work proprely by itself i can always accept the call and then lock the screen with the side button "solving" the problem of unintentionally ended calls. But the first problem really bothers me a lot and i'd really like to know how to solve it.
Does anyone have at least one of this two problems and knows how to solve them? Thank you !
I'm sorry for my english and i hope i've explained myself well. I've just restarted the phone so the problem at the moment doesn't persist but the next time it will happend i will make a short video to make you see exactly what happens or if you think that this two problem could be caused by an app just tell me and I will write you a list off the app that i've installed.
**Edit: I'm really sorry, i haven't read that this was the wrong section for questions, could someone move it to the right one? Thanks.

It worked! Thank you so much.
I noticed that after using the phone for a few hours, the screen will stay on unless I specifically hit the power button to turn it off. The screen off time is set to 15 seconds.
If I reboot it, it will go back to normal, i.e. turning the screen off by itself.
Any one experience this? Some app bug? How to fix it?
Hmmm. Is "Smart Stay" on or off? Do you have Dev Options enabled? If so, is always on while charging option on? All I can think atm.

Have you disbled any services or packages with Package Disabler Pro?
I don't have any of these mentioned issue, and I am still trying to pin point which app is the trouble maker.
Call Samsung support, and they said if I have bluetooth device as "trusted" home/location, they have seen such issue, and want me to turn off these "home" indicator Bluetooth connection.
I effectively turned off the Bluetooth wireless, and this afternoon, after a close to 2 hours meeting and was irritated to find out the screen has been on all the time.
I am going to find a good startup manager and disable APP one by one to see which is the bad boy.
thanks
