o2 uk and hello - HTC Sensation

Hello, my first post, awaiting delivery of the eagerly anticipated handset.
Just to let UK owners know, the HTC Sensation is now available to order on o2.
Thanks

I wonder how bad their branding is? I know they've got a later ROM than Vodafone

really, i didnt know that!!! what is missing or late about it?

Later as in newer. The Vodafone ROM is 1.27 whereas the o2 one is 1.34 so should have some bug fixes in it

ahh, i see, soryy for the confusing myself there.
any one out there who has a handset from o2? does it come with the S-OFF?
mine is at home charging whilst im at work

My 2p is to say it'll be S-ON but I might be wrong. Vodafone ones are S-ON

I've had my Sensation on pre-order since May through buymobilephones.net (21.50 pm contract) and £80 for the phone.
Mobiles are charging £220 for the phone on the same contract.
I just hope they deliver...

I'm getting mine tomorrow too (in theory at least!) - will update!

I quoted O2 the same deal over the phone and the best they could match without me bartering too much was £102 for the phone. Which to be honest, after 30 mins on hold I was ok with. It's been shipped, hopefully arrive tomorrow.

Hi,
Is there any branding on the phone?
Thanks.

No branding at all.
So far, very impressed. Apart from when sense decides to 'not respond' so a quick 'on and off' does the trick.

What ROM version you running?

I got my dispatch notice from buymobilephones.net today for my Sensation. Fingers crossed i get a good one and not one plagued with problems that i have been reading about over the last few days!

It's running the 1.34.206.1
Is that right?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk

Yeah that's right, and I expected that. Nice!

What's different in the ROM my handset is running comapred to yours?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk

It's a newer build so will have a few tweaks. As to what they are I've not a clue!

HTC... bootloaders will not be locked

Htc has just confirmed that they will not lock bootloaders so here is a big cheers to htc and lets now get this sensation... going lets all thank htc the same way we bashed them..
""There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience," Peter Chou, CEO of HTC"

Presumably HTC would have to release an OTA or RUU that upgrades the Sensation to support the sanctioned unlocking method.
If the AWS-band Sensation comes out as an open phone, it's high up on my "next device" list. That or the Nexus 3
More than likely the sensation and announced HTC phones will come with a locked bootloader, they will either make a patch or just not lock future devices. I really don't think they are going to do this so close to launch date..

For a June 8 launch, there's probably already 100K boxed and sitting in a warehouse somewhere. They'll have to address it with an update. They're not going to stop the sale date to make s/w changes that 90% of the people buying it don't care about.
And HTC just kept my business.
It just has been confirmed on FB. No more bootloaders locked! Great!

Probably the smart move..but I love my HTC phones. I like the look of the Sensation 100 times more than the G2X.
And honestly, the LG is just too much of a hassle right now..

I agree. The sensation is one sexy phone. What I hate about HTC phones is their screen. Even though is qhd a super lcd will never show better colors than an ips panel. I love the screen on the g2x. The screens on my evo and g2 were pretty bad
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Ive had the G2x since day one, and Im thinking ... goodbye LG and hello HTC
I cant believe I got fooled into buying a phone by LG.. They spend zero time QAing their code, and we have to pay for that. I should of known better. Ive never had such issues with any other phone (and Ive had plenty of androids), as I do with the stock G2x.
This is when I decided that its time to go back to my beloved HTC and forget about the rest. At least they know how to make phones!
It would be nice to crack up the bootloader and be able to put custom roms, but all I need right now is a dependable phone, and the LG just aint it.
Plus Im sure the bootloader issue wont be an issue soon, looking at all the devs that are working on that phone...
And just to add one more thing - I cant believe that MDJ is working on ROMs for this phone... I remember back in the Hd2 times - that was the best ROM, and I bet its still that way!
Happy to hear im not the only one with a G2X getting ready to sell it on ebay. All the problems this phone have given me are just not tolerable, the constant restarts, loss of signal are nothelping, Given htc might leave this bootloader locked for a while and i do understand why aince htc watch allows you to buy movies which people can then distribute. Anyhow i hope this is released soon or let alone allow preorders.

had a g2x for 3 days LOL coming from a Nexus S (people were complaining about reboots on that at first as well) it was no where nearr as bad as the G2X ..LG build quality was horrible how can you release a phone and have it wait 4 months still waiting for the gingerbread update(that is suppost to ""fix all""") haha

Yes, don't you love those announcements? "BY the 15th". So for all we know it could be tomorrow (which would be smashing but won't happen. I hope they don't sell out. It's what sucks about relying on others to get the phone for you
Maybe the extra week is to unlock the bootloaders on them? Still disappointed, though. Ugh.

Anyone got the WWE version that got on sale today?

Did anyone get the WWE version that is going on sale today?
Anyone from UK?
I am interested in bootloader version, Rom Version and any new observations regarding screen brand, date of manufacture and so on.
Thanks
They're on sale over here (UK) from the 27th, although I think some of the online mobile places are supplying the SIM-free units on new contracts

Ok so I got HTC sensation today... They say 2-3 days delivery but I got it next day and delivery was free
Anyways it is s-on, may 13th.
Although I should say the screen is fantastic, the colours are rich and it has very good viewing angles.
Unless you absolutely need root now, don't worry about not getting an s-off device. Theoretically speaking, if the HTC sensation never got s-off then the custom ROM cooking would never really take off, developers would bother less if they were developing for just 1% of users that have factory s-off. So don't worry, s-off will come, HTC have said it themselves

I am assuming that this is an S-OFF radio version of the sensation?
If so is there a certain date beyond which is WWE?
When I first saw this post I thought WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) had released some custom skinned version of the phone.

That's enough Orange crap on the ROM to convince me to upgrade via Carphone Whorehouse, unless by some miracle someone comes up with a way to debrand it within the next 5 days...
Lots of crapware added...
some orange apps, the orange account one is useful, the rest rubbish. There are paid ones, like Maps, traffic etc, and also 4-5 rubbish games, a MSN messenger which only works on 3G and not WIFI, etc...
In short the usual Orange ****up!
Cant wait for the unlock, to slash and burn through this mess!

Definitely CPW for the upgrade, they only stock unbranded handsets so its where I got mine from
Was gonna do the same, esp since my local CPW guys are really great, BUT they can only do standard upgrades, whereas you always get a better deal by calling orange retentions direct. And they only send you direct from Orange stock, I asked if I could pick it up from CPW or even the local Orange shop, and they said no, it has to be posted.
In the same postion myself, due my orange upgrade, but dont want the crap. However i cant use carphone whare as they wont do a standard orange upgrade for me - as i still get free home broadband from my old orange contract i dont want to loose that!
But does anyone really believe that orange/tmobile will allow the htc updates in aug/sept to allow s-off - i for one suspect they will not allow this.
I will prob take the upgrade from orange, ebay it new and buy network free from elsewhere.

I doubt very much that Orange will allow s-off on their handsets. They are branded for a reason, and that reason is to **** people off. I only got the Desire once I was certain that it could be de-branded, and getting that Orange crapware off of it was the best thing I ever did to the phone.
I would have to be offered a very good deal to accept an Orange branded handset again, especially if it couldn't be de-branded, and at the moment it looks like the Sensation can't.

T-Mobile Sensation 4G ICS --RELEASED--

I was speaking with a HTC customer service today with a basic support issue and while i was on the phone with them i asked about android 4.0. I take most claims like this with a grain of salt but being that this is from HTC tech support I assume that it is a reliable source. According to HTC, the ICS update for the T-Mobile Sensation
4G was released to be pushed YESTERDAY with the initial push starting today through April 1st with a schedualed upgrade completion by the end of april. I know there are a lot of naah sayers that will want to attack this post because they believe that it will be summer time or never or after the release og the HTC One S and to counter those comments before they happen i want to say very blatantly "I DONT CARE".
Man I hope whoever told you that was not BSing you. That would be great cause I want to wait for the official update before I S-off, flash a custom recovery and then a custom ICS ROM to my current Sensation.
I believe you,but what they said about it being pushed yesterday.... Does that mean it should be showing at any time today or tommrow?

Well to be honest it does make a difference, the difference being that I want to wait for the OTA. I have that right right you know. Not to mention I rather like the Visual Voice Mail app.
Don't get me wrong I tried several of the very first alpha and Beta ICS ROMs on my original Sensation. It was S-off and Super CID with a custom boot animation that I had made for myself. But it crapped out on me with total shutdown, it would not charge or turn on. And it did this very suddenly. So I had to get a replacement from T-Mobile and I want to keep this one stock until I get to try out the Official OTA for the T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G. I am doing this just in case I want to request another replacement for any reason, oh and did I mention my replacement had bad dust under the screen so I am really considering replacing it anyway. That is another difference it makes. So as you can see you did not know all the variables and really should not have said something so arrogant. And it does make a difference.
Last night around 10:00 pm T-mobile sent a text and it said OTA UP three times, so I believe something is up......
Last nite I did the *#*#checkin#*#* thing and it came back with updates for almost all of The tmobile branded preinstalled apps.

A little late to the party I see.
HTC Sensation 4G w/ Beats Audio
Doubt it
On their Facebook page the last couple days T-Mobile has been responding to inquiries about ICS on the Sensation with variations on the following theme "we are currently testing ICS on the Sensation but it isn't the experience we are looking for so HTC is working on our feedback before we send it out and we don't have a time yet. " Doesn't sound like it will be out anytime in the next few weeks. It sounds like T-Mobile and HTC will end up pointing fingers at each other leaving us waiting till at least the second half of the year for our ICS.

I am doing this just in case I want to request another replacement for any reason, oh and did I mention my replacement had bad dust under the screen so I am really considering replacing it anyway. That is another difference it makes. So as you can see you did not know all the variables and really should not have said something so arrogant. And it does make a difference.

Well when you make a vague statement that doesn't really make sense to anyone but you.. You kind of invite people to say something...
I for one, feel invited.

Man I hope whoever told you that was not BSing you. That would be great cause I want to wait for the official update before I S-off, flash a custom recovery and then a custom ICS ROM to my current Sensation.

Really, I mean really! Was any of that necessary, no it is just something to feed ones ego with. I think that XDA senior member kingston73 has it right, XDA " Could be even better without the egos...".
It will get here when it gets here. To be honest, I don't think tmobile is in any rush.

Idk why everyone is so impatient for T-Mobile to release ics ..I have T-Mobile USA and for example....gingerbread (stock from T-Mobile) was terrible
..wait...horrific! compared to what our friends here at XDA did. ..what makes u think ICS from T-Mobile extra inflated with all the bloat T-Mobile adds in is going to be any where close to the ics roms we have on xda already?
