forced mobile view, yahoo mail issue... - HTC Sensation

I'm getting forced to log in and look at my yahoo mail in mobile view.
I have the mobile view off and click on the desktop view on the main yahoo page.
I tried about:debug and selected desktop view
then I thought maybe it's a stock browser issue so I tried Dolphin HD browser and same thing... main page loads fine in desktop but soon as I try logging in to mail, forced mobile view.
any fix for this?
I hate mobile view, especially Yahoo mail.
thanks.

Use the yahoo mail app. Much better..

I have the app.
just wanted to see if there was a way to force the phone to log into mail in desktop view in the browser.
I don't understand why it won't... it renders fine in desktop view on MT4G...

Synching favourites and bookmarks

Hi, I'm currently using an XDAII with WM5, browsing with Firefox 2.0 and using Activesync 4.2
What I'd like to know is how I can bookmark sites in Firefox, then sync those favourites onto my XDA. Activesync only works with IE favourites and, well, I hate using IE.
I'm probably not the only person using Firefox and WM5 Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could go about automatically updating my XDA favourites with Firefox?
i'm interested to know also if there is a plug in for activesyc
I am also interested in an automatic solution.
I exported Firefox bookmarks to IE via html but ActiveSync doesn't sync subfolders!
Had to copy favorites manually...
Any hints?
Thanks,
Eggert

What are you using as a Home Page in your mobile browser

I'm looking for the best portal to start in my browser - myself, I'm using igoogle for mobile as its lite weight, gives me feeds such as weather (which update sporadically) and my gmail.
What are you using?

Bookmarks into opera mini

Ok I have a bunch of bookmarks in my default browser. But I'm changing over to opera mini browser and need help getting them over. Can anyone help?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Well, here's what you can do...
1. Sync (export) the bookmarks from your default browser using any 3rd party sync app - there are many available.
2. Transfer (import) the bookmarks to your PC's browser - if you have opera browser on your PC, its a lot easier. Else, install opera browser and sync the bookmarks which you had exported using the 3rd party app.
3. Once done, you will need to setup "Opera Link" sync - it's a simple registration.
4. Once the sync is complete, your bookmarks will remain on operas' servers
5. Open Opera Mini, go to settings, enable "Opera Link"
6. Login with your username/password.
7. Opera Mini bookmarks will be synced with your PC bookmarks.
If there is a simpler method, others can pls feel free to suggest. AFAIK there are some apps which help in importing apps from Chrome browser to the default Android browser but I have never used the apps.
Alright. It will be a couple of weeks until I can try it but ill give it a go and see what happens

How to view outlook 2010 on Android phone?

At my home office i am running Microsoft outlook on a windows 7 system. Is there any app for Android that will enable me to connect to this outlook to see all my folders?
My outlook has tons of folders.. Like 6gig in size so it's way to large to store on my phone.

Outlook is your email client. What email system is Outlook connecting to? Is it POP3? Is it IMAP? Need more details.
You can try K-9 Mail. Currently have 5 accounts (work, hotmail, gmail, aol and yahoo configured) and it works great.

Except k9 eats cpu like candy.
Use Touchdown if you have an Exchange account.
I tie my nonexchange email to my gmail in the gmail settings (when logged into gmail with an internet browser), then my work email comes in using push IMAP through the gmail app.
There are options. I have tried a lot of email clients in Android, most of which I dont like much.

I don't think you guys are understanding what I'm looking for... I'm looking for a way to view ALL of preexisting Outlook Mail Folders from my Android phone? I have emails in Outlook Folders that are 5 years old, etc... I need to be able to view all of these folders.
K9 mail is just a mail client to get new mail, etc. I need to be able to view all my old email in Outlook Folders
what you want is an app that will grant you access to your PC's desktop anywhere:
here's one, but it's $25... there might be some other free ones out there, but haven't tried them... I know the amazon app stored offered a free one not too long ago...

Here is the comparison. Quote:
"They are both good.
There is a fundamental difference between the two in how they allow access.
Teamviewer requires the passing of a passcode from the party being accessed to the party wanting to gain access.
Logmein is setup such that the the remote party wanting to gain access can simply log in to another party's pc (logmein has to be installed on that pc). The party who's machine is being accessed doesn't even have to be there.
Therefore I would use Logmein if I wanted to leave my machine running, but access it from a remote location.
I use Teamviewer to provide online support to others that don't want to have a program like Logmein sitting on their machine allowing me to log in any time.
I also use Logmein on my Outlaws pc, so I can simply take over their pc when they are having problems finding their email etc. "
Also teamview is free and LogMeIn is paid. Hope this help.

I use touchdown for my exchange account to view all folders. I use pocketcloud to remote to my PC if I need to see other peoples calendars and folders.

I think Hindle1225's solution is the best since your folders are too big to sync over to your phone. By using a outlook app to sync only inbox, contact, calendar, notes and other "light weight" folders and if you want to see your 6gb folder, then you can use remote desktop software to view it through your desktop. Here are all software for exchange in comparison, go to syncdroid.net
Happy hunting...
Try Teamviewer. As indicated, it is free. I use it every day for server and desktop support. Works great on the phone but remember how small your phone is compared to your pc. The resulting image is very small and you'll be swiping quite a bit. Phone use is fine for restarting a service without getting out of bed. Much more and it's over to the laptop for me. You'll need to try it for yourself. It works and it's free. Even has a built-in VPN.

OWA Android App (QOWA) Quick Outlook Web Access
Hi all - My organization locked down our outlook email so I tried every OWA Android app out there and none worked for me. They all required something open on the server end such as exchange web services or WebDav. There was no way to get my android to work with my email except the browser, but the logout was every minute, requiring a retype of my username/password. If you ever used OWA you know what I'm talking about.
This QOWA is still using the native web interface so it should work with ALL OWA email addresses. This works very friendly with the touch environment.
This works for Microsoft Outlook exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010.

Questions from a longtime XDA Member recently converting to Galaxy S8+

Hello all I have been a long time XDA member and took a leave of absence due to MS not really tailoring to Windows Phone.
I just picked up a S8+ and it is a nice device but I am struggling a bit and remembered how hopeful this site is.
Is there a single email and calendar application that can handle all my email accounts (live, office 365, work exchange)?
In addition I seem to be missing a good bit of contacts as I have my primary live account and gmail account on the device.
I can tell you this is a nice device but coming from Windows phone setup is tedious I have to figure out my facebook contact sync and WhatsApp sync as well.
Any tips from a convert would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for all your help my new family
I have been away from xda for quite sometime because I had an iPhone, switching to this phone also was a bit painful but it turned out to be easier than I thought.
You have Gmail, I'm using it for my work email (Microsoft), Hotmail, Yahoo and my Google account. It's works very nice.
As for the missing contacts, you can go to settings and accounts and add any account you want, open it, and activate contact sync. Not sure if it can sync Facebook contacts. Or you can just try from the Facebook settings
Hi there,
im using Outlook for syncing mail and calendar. However using samsung calendar app you have everything synced and good to go. Also, you can sync your exchange/office365 to show your contacts in contact list.
What have I notcied, that Microsoft have much improved their apps on Android. Take a look at BlueMail as well - it syncs gmail and office and any other mail you need.
For Facebook i'm using Metal as I hate stock facebook app.

Yeah but the native Samsung Email and Calendar apps don't grab this information. In addition adding new contacts is such a pain as you have to do it directly in the outlook app instead of the default phone/contacts app. I have had this issue numerous times.
I hope they are able to fix this as I shouldn't have to migrate all my shared calendars to google from outlook.com to be able to work with them.
Great device but these items should just work and I think it may just be a Samsung issue I am working on getting another device to test.
As amon87 said BlueMail is the way.
