A member over at RootzWiki got CM7 on the DG2! Read the full article about it here: http://www.android-invasion.net/?p=223
Please don't tease me. Is this legit?
It will make a great port once they can get all the kinks worked out..
its legit, 13th angel has been working on it along with bikerdude over at droid forums
AHHH!!!! RC this quickly!
From what I have read they are piecing together a version from DX and D2 drivers which is all that is possible until the Official OTA of D2G Gingerbread is found to draw from.
So if anyone finds themselves getting an OTA update to GB please let everyone know!
They get this to stable and the D2G world will have changed forever! Or at least until some new version of Android is released for the D2G (Ice Cream?)
The DX and D2 both had official GB releases to draw files from. Thats why they were able to port so quickly to D2 from DX.
Lets hope that OTA comes soon...
this will be awesome once it gets the bugs worked out... I still wnt the gingerbresd release.
I love having CM7 on my Droid2. Working pretty well, can't wait for a stable release though.

I'm following this as well. Hoping to loan out my D2G to CVPCS soon. He hasn't bitten yet.
This is just excellent news! It seems like the D2G is finally getting some attention. I read the entire thread on the CM7 and they are making fast progress! I am going to wait a couple of days before flashing because it looks like they are about to fix a lot of things.
for the love god verizon bring on the gingerbread so we can get this **** working!
CM7 for D2 is supported at CM. Only a matter of time before D2G is supported 2. The mod is ported to D2G looks to be almost bug free.
Cm4d2g is almost perfectly stable, the only bugs left are that the alt lock key on the keyboard doesn't work yet, the camera is still mirrored (although there's a workaround in which you switch between the camcorder and camera to get it to be normal), and gsm still doesn't work. The first two are pretty minor and should be fixed easily.

Sadly it appears that the D2 and D2G won't be getting official Gingerbread until after the Droid 3 release. But some sources are saying that might be sometime in the next week.
“Some sources”? The Droid 3's release date is July 7th according to “most sources”.

There is a leaked document from VZW that says July 14th.
I am actually on CM7 working very smooth
I need GSM and 3G as I am in Australia and these are my networks; any ideas how long this will take to hit CM7???
Very very very excited.

Typically, I like to remain stock.
This appears to be stock to me, I'm quite sure we will still receive OTA updates on this ROM.
Hopefully an official release is out in the next few days; for now I'm more than pleased with the work that designgears and the rest of the community here at XDA have put together in only a few hours!
Probably in the next week fews, maybe mid-October to end of October, if we're going along how JH7 was officially released and when it was leaked.
Edit: Apparently Jh7 was leaked maybe a week before the actual OTA so maybe sooner than I thought. But the i9000 Froyo isn't supposed to be out until end of October? who knows
Maybe they can make a vanilla froyo for the Captivate now also. That would be nice to have except for the lack of a swype keyboard.

Don't forget that not all leaks become official OTA updates. We got leaked JH2, JH3, JH7, and THEN an official update to JH7. I expect there will be more leaks before the official.
The i9000 has seen numerous froyo leaks since early August and they still have yet to receive an official update, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for a 2.2 OTA update any time soon.
Still its exciting to finally get a leaked froyo build - can only mean good things are on the way.

Yeah. That's why I'm pretty sure this version will not be released as an official update as it doesn't use all the available ram.
I'm also wondering whether the tethering options that Android Central showed in the leaked build will actually be available in the stock update. I would love to see them, but somehow doubt it with AT&T.
Yeah this current release (JI6) has a lot of positive changes - but it's obvious it isn't ready for official release. It's still in the works as far as I'm concerned. I'm just glad it's stable enough for me to be comfortable with.
My thought is that this is the first go round - sort of a base build that they will build on top of. For one thing it is the One-Click Odin and not just a ROM - so someone packaged it to be a one step restore.
Then there are things like mobile AP and USB tethering that will probably get pulled. Other things like UK spelling and the missing Sync scheduling indicate that they pushed some stuff right from the EU build.
There are also some minor defects that existed in 2.1 that are still there - not being able to click on URLs, emails, phone numbers in the calendar; same GAL integration; GPS issues; etc.
Great start though, and no reason for me to go back to 2.1

This would be awesome! T-minus two weeks... That does seem too specific to allow weaseling.
Edit: I take that back. T-minus sometime this week?!?
I assume the only Milestone Cincinnati bell carries is the XT720 so it could only mean that when it says Milestone?
Official 2.2. would be nice. Though I'd love to see them add 2.3 by now since I do have 2.2 an official version would be good to fix some issues I assume (and it would be cool if they changed stuff like they did for the Droid X gingerbread update - status bar +UI improvements etc...).
Though hypothetically, if this did happen would the update only be for Cincinnati Bell users and the rest of us would have to get the benefits over here on XDA only?
Yes the XT720 is the only Milestone in CBs lineup. The Motorola update page still lists the US XT720 as staying on 2.1 so I guess we'll just to wait & see.
I really do hope its some sort of official build. I still have the xt as my backup phone, but the mytouch is my daily driver. Hope for the best guys!

It would be nice to get a kernel version bump like the Milestone did. And a more froyo-friendly partition layout would be nice too. We'll see.
I will be going to the Cincinnati Bell store tomorrow after work to yell at them for messing up my bill...again.
I will be sure to inquire about this when I go.

We'll have to see. It depends on whether the partition sizes changed. Motorola likes to include the partition tables in the kernel so that would require flashing sbf to use a new boot.img. If they use the same kernel version, we can probably make an update.zip to deal with changes in system.img changed size. We'll have to see what if anything we get.
Well, I talked to several people at Cincinnati Bell today...
It's not looking good. I was told that there were quite a number of people at Cincinnati Bell who were working on this project, and that a legitimate ROM was produced and tested, BUT... Motorola doesn't want them to release it. I wasn't told why, but you can guess. Motorola hates all of us and secretly wants us all dead. Kidding.
Seriously though, it sounded like Cincinnati Bell DOES have a working froyo ROM. If only someone had a way of getting their hands on it....
I'll keep trying.
Sounds like we need to invite one of their field testers to a bar, gizmodo style.

Sightings of Cincinnati Bell XT720 running 2.2 in employee hands predate the Motoroi 2.2 release. Also, I discussed froyo at length and its development progress at Cincinnati Bell when I purchased my XT720 early last September.
If you want to get even more speculative, http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/ reports performance results for XT720 running 2.3 (not sure if this is easy to fake, though). Where are these ROMs!?!
2.3 ??
I only find results for our XT720 with Dexter's 2.2 on the page you posted.
but I don't comprehend why Motorola doesn't even want to unlock our bootloaders.. I mean that shouldn't be that much work for them and so the customers could do the things on their own and Motorola can continue ignoring us and not giving us any updates???

I've been running CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC1-ROID2WE-KANG since I got my Droid 2 Global several months ago (around September of 2011, I believe). At the time, there wasn't much available by way of stable mods for the Global. I wish I had done more research before buying; I would have bought a regular Droid 2, but the price and condition on the Global was excellent.
In any case, I get about four hours out of a full battery charge, if I'm LUCKY. Often it's closer to three.
I just ordered a new battery, and put it in, and experienced the same problem today.
I don't have any background processes running, only have three home screens, only one widget, bluetooth is off, etc, and my screen brightness is set at 15%.
Does anyone have ANY idea at all why this is happening? It happened on my OG Droid after some time running CM7 as well. I don't really want to have to flash back to stock for a day to test and see what's wrong, but I may have to. It's a major pain though.
I plan on updating to 7.2 now that I realize it's out, but I'm not sure that will fix anything.
HELP!!
People were never intended to use that version to begin with. See what happened, before GB was given to the D2G some wonderful devs on rootzwiki built cm7 on top of a froyo kernel. But there were still some bugs. However, the cyanogen team takes way too long to approve and puts too many road blocks in there that really prevent the devs from updating the official d2g tree. So ever since then they haven't updated that but over on rootzwiki in the d2g dev thread theres a thread for cm7 that's now based on GB kernal 608 that works wonderfully. Developed by x13thangelx, bikedude, revnumbers and a bunch of other dudes who names escape me right now.

When is 3G 4G Xoom going to get Ice cream?
i been asking that forever. I don't know what the deal is with Verizon not pushing out updates. I just don't get it. From what I read on Droid life is its ready to go but up to big red to push it out.
Just like the gnexus still stuck on 4.02 first carrier to have the phone last one to push out the ota WoW
Yeah it's very annoying. The problem is Verizon's testing procedures (or so I've been told) are VERY strict. Add to the fact that the Xoom isn't a priority device for VZW anymore, and yeah...we continue to wait. The WiFi-only Xoom has had ICS since December, and (again, so I've heard), Google had the ICS ROM for the 3G/4G Xoom ready not long after that. To add further insult to injury, Google and VZW pushed out an update to the 4G Xoom in February that was just a Honeycomb update (3.2.6) to fix data connectivity coming out of airplane mode. Annoying.
With the Galaxy Nexus, at least two 4.0.4 builds have been pushed to devices as part of a soak test (IMM30B and IMM76K), but neither made the cut apparently. But since they went out over the air, we have the files and can run those if we want to. With the Xoom, there hasn't even been so much as a soak test, that we're aware of anyway.
I wish I knew as well.
I've tried all of the custom ROMs and have had problems with each one. I've gone back to the Honeycomb stock ROM in each instance. As snappy & nice as the ICS is with the custom ROMs, the stock Honeycomb has been the most stable ROM ever, imho. I'm very excited about ICS coming out, but only if it's as rock solid as Honeycomb is. I'll wait a couple of more months so that VzW can get it right the first time.
Definitely. That Honeycomb 3.2.6 stock ROM is solid as a brick ****house. That's why I love it.
Don't know about you but I have had ICS on my Xoom for a while. Thanks Team EOS. And it is much better than anything Verizon would put out.

The stock ROM on the Verizon Xoom is still created and updated by Google. It just needs VZW approval before it gets released. TeamEOS isn't stable enough for my liking. Tried playing SimCity lately?

What's wrong with SimCity? (I don't game, so I'm really asking.)
Is the real issue perhaps merely that the game's not ICS-tablet-aware?
Sent from my LTE EOS Xoom via XDA Premium
It freezes constantly. It'll run fine, then all of a sudden just hang forever, giving you the wait/force close dialog box. I don't think it's an ICS or app issue since people running stock ICS on the WiFi Xoom say it works fine.

Interesting. I haven't seen any indications of that in the main EOS threads.
Did you see anyone else collaborating this issue? Were you overclocked at all? Also, at one point we switched to overclocking the GPU by default, and I wonder if that's the issue (after all, my kernel improvements wouldn't have made any difference to a game, and we're nearly stock in anything else that matters).
I wasn't overclocked. OC always makes me nervous! Could be with the GPU...not sure. What I do know is that the issue was still there as of the stable 2.0.0 release.

My answer is "never." VZW will never release ICS for this thing. It was seriously doomed from the start.
That said, EOS has created an excellent stingray rom. Again, STINGRAY. And again, EXCELLENT rom. I'm not playing SimCity, but the Sims works very well and since the app was updated, it works even better. It was freezing on restart but now it doesn't do it anymore, which is something to say about how solid EOS' rom is--a problem with the app and not the rom.

Oh dear, not this again. Last year it was "We'll never get LTE" and/or "We'll never have writable SD-Card". It's obvious the tech is there, most likely it's due to either compliance issues (and with VZ that probably means they're trying to lock something down or take something away in the ROM they're intending to release ... the bastards) or they're waiting 'till some as-yet-unannounced LTE tablet(?) device comes out first. Apparently there's a ROM in testing at VZ, if the leaked screenshot has any credibility.

If the evolution rom has working HDMI then its 99.9% chance its Froyo based, the 2.3 can come from build.prop. changes
Also the cm7 tickerguy is nice but its the oldest and most outdated of all cm7's for the triumph
1.tickerguys cm7
2. Whyzor took over after Tg and has whyzors Tg-reloaded
3. G60 took over after whyzor and made g60madman cm7
4. G60 took it a step further and got a team together and made MTDEV-CM7
All the roms except mtdev-cm7 are based off cm7 the older version, while the mtdev-cm7 is based on cm7.2 final
Which includes many updates both from the cm7 team and the mtdev team have been added
The only difference I've seen outta all of them is whyzor's tg reloaded has alot of tweaks set to maximize battery life, but its still an older cm7, currently the mt-dev team has been working on kernels and tweaks since they have pretty much everything except HDMI running flawlessly, also some users have reported small wifi bug which there looking into as well
The real deal is BSydz PA CM9 ROM for the triumph that is on the android forums board.
