Headphone jack cutting out - HTC Sensation

Is anyone having an issue where if you have headphones plugged in and you wiggle the jack (with a little pressure) sound in one channel cuts out for a second?

hahaha Yeah.. when people dont know stuff like that it makes me start to feel really OLD... hahahahha

I have an issue with mine, but its when I plug headphones in I have to pull them back out slightly to get sound working in stereo, otherwise it only comes out of one side. Now when connected to a cassette adaptor to play through my car stereo I get a high pitched popping sound occasionally, an issue I did not have with the same adaptor and my HD2 or G2X.

haha that's what I always say when no one answers me back...

I have the same exact issue. I work for T-Mobile and it's happened to the last four devices I tested the issue on. Sucks..

I've experienced a similar problem as well, when you pull the connector a little to the left (with minimal force) the right ear bud would stop working completely. This happened on two devices which i purchased from a T-mobile store in NYC yesterday. I have a third exchanged model right now, but haven't tried it yet as I don't want to be disappointed . The devices were built on 6/3/11, 6/1/11 and 6/3/11 and originated from Taiwan. Could this be a bad batch or just a design flaw?

Same here. Happens when I pull the phone out of my pocket. Not a biggie.

I have an AUO screen, Taiwan origin, shipped 6/1/2011. No issue whatsoever, also tried to replicate with battery cover off (seems more vulnerable that way) and nothing. Are you sure your devices were actually made on that day ? The box date is when it was shipped, the manufactured date should be stamped in black on the inside of the back case.

I didn't spend too much time with those devices, I guess it was the shipped date then instead of the built date. You must have been lucky then since all three of my Sensations have had this issue.
EDIT:
The build date of the current phone that I have is 5/21/2011.

How do you know when the phone is built?
A bit offtopic, but thx.

I wish I could figure out when mine was built. Since I have an Asian Sensation there is no date on the back sticker under the battery. I also looked on the box and didnt see a date there either.

As mentioned previously, you can find it stamped on the inside of the back case.

listen whatever you do dont download or install the update yet leave it on the screen asking about the update and contact a dev that can help pull the update then you can GREATLY help the community
Worrrrd. I got the notification right before I left work at tmo. I installed it, however, on one of the demo devices there in the store, and left mine alone for now. In a moment, I'll post some pictures of the differences in software numbers for reference.
Could we use log-cat to find the download link, similar to what was discussed with the fake G2 OTA? and would the update package itself even help?
Edit: Here's the after-image. Haven't made a before one yet.

I got and installed the update as well. My friend at HTC told me it would come tomorrow but I got it as soon as I got home tonight. The update was just to update the device to the production software in light of tomorrows launch. It's pretty much bug fixes, do far I haven't noticed the double url bar in the browser since installing it.

Getting a logcat of this update is very important! It can give devs a clue on what can be done to get rw access in nand. Run a logcat before you install anything. When you have it post it in the dev section for mt4g and g2.

Front facing camera on desire z/ g2 solved?

So I came across this on one of the forums , it sound like a good idea i was wondering if anyone knows if it fits dz .has anyone got it yet? It will be grerat if it works well http://ciccaresedesign.blogspot.com/2010/12/android-video-call-for-all-devices.html

So its like a mirror reflective from the back camera to your face? Pretty clever I say.
They haven't release it yet they call it onemoreface, I think they are still in the state of building it maybe a few more months hopefully january and when they finally release it hopefully its compatible with G2. This addon will solved my issues regarding my constant use of video call :happy:excited:

I Hope this will get released soon and for a few different models other then the Nexus One in the picture, I will buy at least two one for my Nexus the other for the HTC Desire Z , but I got a funny feeling that by the time this rolls out it might be to late, within the next six months most smart phones will all have what Nokia has been doing for years, front face cameras, then this gadget will be to late.

It would be too late if in six months everyone ditches their phone for one with an ffc. Ill have my g2 longer than that. And I don't know why it would take 6 months to release two mirrors that mount to the top of your phone. You could ?ake this for yourself right now it looks like.

I am pissed...

I just now realized my volume rocker fell off and I have no idea when it happened or where it fell off. I had just made the decision that I was going to sell this phone and keep my G2x because this phone doesn't interest me like it used to. Anyone else have this happen? This is another issue to add to the list...

Mine has always seemed kind of loose. I will have to keep an eye on it. The build quality of this phone is nothing near that of my Nexus.

Actually this is not the first incident. I read about it on pocketnow.com and brushed it off because my rocker was only crooked, loose, or whatever you'd like to call it. Never did I think I would have this issue. Normally I'm with the vast majority of people who don't have problems but this time I got the short straw. I'm by no means rough with my phones so the "how" is actually pretty irrelevant.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
examining the phone i dont see how you could of loss that with out opening your phone because its cradle down like all phones oh well your the first
The fact that any part of this phone can just fall out is inexcusable for a premium device. Sure, it could have happened when I was swapping memory cards this morning but the fact of the matter is that it can (and does) happen. At least maybe now people can learn to watch out for this type of event through my misfortune.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
ok i just seen the article you were talking about on http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-sensation-volume-rocker-fail ill keep my eye on it thanks for your post
I once lost a screw to something (think it was a Playstation 2 controller) and about 3 weeks after losing it, I found it.
A volume rocker is not small enough to disappear, and if you lost it while changing your SD card, well, it's probably where you were changing it

I think I'll try my luck with going into a store and seeing if they have any returned handsets. If so, they normally don't have a problem giving the back cover away. I don't foresee calling T-Mobile doing me any good whatsoever. I just hope that this turns out to a fairly simple task...but I am disappointed with HTC's design now. Their products are normally second to none in my opinion.

My power button has sunk in, I hope it won't popout like your rocker. The back cover with it's bad aignal, wifi bug, lack of dust protection and faulty buttons, is turning in to a nightmare. I hope they are working on a new back cover or some one makes a 3rd party alternative.

You know, I was a very happy Sensation owner. I completely disregarded the fact that my first unit had a crooked power button and exchanged it for another with a crooked volume rocker. I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I don't mess with the volume nearly as much as I lock/unlock the phone. What started making me choose the G2x over the Sensation was that I had both phones side by side yesterday and was curious about the wifi issue. The Sensation picked up and dropped the signal constantly whereas the G2x held onto it with full signal. The Sensation also was terrible with collecting dust in the case and that concerned me as well. Now, the volume rocker falling out sealed the fate of the Sensation. In the end, I have decided I will take software bugs over hardware. I don't have many of the G2x issues so I can wait it out. The good news is that my friend at T-Mobile told me to go to her store on Monday and she will give me a new back cover. I hope everyone watches this more and more because I'm sure this will become a bigger issue soon.

I seriously doubt it becoming any issue at all. I have 3 batteries total and NEVER plug my phone in. So basically I swap batteries that are charged only, opening and closing the case each time. I have done this dozens upon dozens of times with no issue at all, even upon reading this I intentionally tried to maul the rocker and nothing happned. Either way its a bummer YOU lost it, but call tmobile or HTC and tell them what you feel about the quality. Tell them they have let you down and your upset with spending that much for a device defective rocker/case. Goodluck.

It would be easily painted tbh, it would need sanding down then painting with a primer/undercoat then a topcoat of your choosing (Depending on the paint you may need to add a top coat of lacquer)

This guy has beat HTC at their own design.
The problem with the pain removers is that it would also remove it from the "htc" which then takes away from the appeal imo.

Yeah, me too. I assumed they were just molded into the same piece of polycarbonate, and not separate pieces.
Fill it in with a thin strip of red epoxy. That would look sweet.

We should get a vinal company to bust some red letters out for us. That would be sweet looking.
Ill get pics up later today.
Call HTC and put in a warranty claim. I just want to hear what their reaction is.
I figured this would happen eventually...it was just a matter of time with my Sensation. Once the T got loose, I just removed all three, they come out fairly easily. Those were a lot narrower/smaller...the 1X has some pretty thick letters so I'd love to see it filled in with red. Hell I might do it with mine just to try something different (probably use tape first).

Haha! I observed the HTC logo after looking into this thread and it looks like the HTC logo itself is machine etched into the polycarbonate body. But to make the logo look more pronounced they have put in some kind of stickers which are darker (for the grey color one x)
LOL. for someone who would claim warranty on this one
Some of the letters fell off of my htc aria after it went through the wash. Surprised me too. Still have the letters though.

It came off a few days after I got the phone, but I was able to put it back on. Well yesterday I just happen to flip my phone over and it was GONE. LOL. Where can I find replacement letters?

Fill it in with Crayon!
Take the advantage and make a custom metal one. Then make one for the other two and it would look cool
