Wanting to RMA my asus transformer....phone #? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can't find the phone number to rma my asus, the creaking is driving me crazy...i searched the website but the link goes to an error page. I'm guessing the best way to RMA is via phone.

found the number but they didn't want to replace it for creaking and light bleed...they said that wasn't enough to warrant a return......guess they're getting too many returns.

light bleed is a defect. u should call back or talk to a supervisor, they cant just sweep u under the rug like that.

I'd give them another call and hopefully you'll get to speak to a different person who's a bit more amiable. I hope you get it sorted.

45 minutes later convinced him to rma it...was acting like actual hardware defects wasn't really a big problem. Dumped it in the mail already, hopefully they just send me a new one which i'm guessing is normal procedure. Color flaking, light bleed, creaking noise and you can even see the screen go down below the bezel, guessing that's not good.

OK, I have a question. I have medium annoying creak and medium problem light bleed in one corner. Can I still RMA? More to the point, am I in the minority or do most units have this issue. If most do not, I really do want RMA. Then, if I've had it over 1 month, should I RMA direct to ASUS? I'm in the UK.

I have sent mine for the same defects and after 3 days I got a call from CS that my LCD display has a crack and needs to be replaced for almost $300.00 (213.00 display, 65.00 labor + shipping). Asus blames me I have sent damaged unit, because shipping box has no damage and they don't have a box to prove it.
Do not send it to ASUS you can get in the same situation.

Where did you find their phone number? The US website just sends you in circles and says "No Data Found" on the service center search.

[Q] Blue blotches on screen?

Hi, I I tried searching for this issue but couldn't find any thread specific to my problem. In darker lighting and on dark images or video I notice some bright blotches in the left center of my screen. It's a pain watching videos with it, but does not impede use of the device. Forgive me if this is common light bleed, but I thought that was exclusive to the edge of the device. Is there any fix I can do on my own or should I try and rma?
I would personally suggest an RMA, that doesn't look right somehow...
U have heavy lightbleed on the top and bottem left side of your screen.
But those blobs in the middel should not be there.

I had those on my 16GB that I RMA'ed....now my 32GB that I got as an exchange is starting to do it as well.
Starting to regret giving Asus another chance. Never trusted their products before and with good reason......

You're the third person I've seen with this issue in the past week which is an alarming trend to say the least.
Did it develop over time? Was it there in the beginning? Check your serial number on the box for the revision code (starts with B, EX: B5O, B4O, B6O), which is it?
Definitely RMA. It's unacceptable when there's tons of light bleed on the edges but when it's in the center that's just ****ed.
Looks like I'm too late to return, I'll have to RMA. The serial number is B4O, and I suddenly noticed it, though it's quite possible that it happened over time, I don't recall it being there when I got it.
I am having the same issue, though not as bad. I will try to post pics when I get time.
I just can't decide if a RMA is worth it.... sigh.
My Serial starts with B4O as well.
Edit: Is this actually light bleed or something else? It looks like the IPS screen was impacted before install.
I just sent one back for having a white blob in the middle of the screen about 4mm in diameter I assumed that was light bleed of some description there was plenty round the edges too..
The really worrying thing is the replacement that has just arrived, if I apply light pressure on back of tablet about two inches above asus logo it looks like something is pushing against the screen you get all those rings and what looks like a rainbow effect. I noticed it when docked and moving the screen back and forth the same effect occurs.. I never saw this on my other one, is this just cos the unit is thin and flexes or is it another badly put together tab?

I only notice mine at near full brightness, and with the room pitch black. They are pretty small too. I think I may just try to live with it, as it seems RMA isn't a 100% fix either. I'm afraid I'll be without it for 10-15 business days, and possibly end up with something worse!

That's ridiculous. I shouldn't be afraid of more problems after sending my unit in as a RMA. I think I am just going to hold off and reevaluate the issues in a few months. I'm just worried that the dust in my screen will continue to get worse and worse.
Can anyone speak for a device with a different serial? Also, should I wait and see if ASUS actually fixes it, or RMA as soon as possible? On a side note I thought for RMA they would send me another one and I'd ship this one back when I got the other one, does ASUS not do this?

What's your S/N prefix on the replacement?
This is how it will play out:
1. You call Asus and set up an RMA with the extremely rude customer service.
2. You pay return shipping (about $14-$20) to ship it back to them.
3. They take two weeks to wait for parts and then a week to repair and send it back to you.
4. They end up replacing the LCD and not doing a replacement for the whole unit. You get a "repair", not a "replacement".
5. If you so much as leave a single ding on the unit the service center will mark it OOW (Out of Warranty) and claim no liability for repairs because you damaged it.
At this point the light bleed is so bad you really have no choice.

So at this point my options are to RMA and most likely not get a fix, keep it and try to ignore the lightbleed, wait for better manufactoring/repair and then RMA, or sell it for $180 on Gazelle or maybe more on Ebay/Amazon and use that to buy the thrive or tab instead. I'm leaning towards the first and maybe the last, but I'd be paying about $750 on the last one (calculating new tablet price by adding old price and subtracting the difference.). Suggestions?
Just noticed this on my transformer. It's barely a month old! Gonna take it down to the service centre tomorrow. Ridiculous.

How'd this work out for ya? I was curious how the Galaxy camp was doing so been reading through the Galaxy 10.1 forums, geez I thought we had problems, lots of similar complaints over there about build quality, keyboard lag, reboots, etc and worse of all evidently alot of them have what they call Newtons Rings effect on the tab where the top glass presses against the LCD and makes water looking blotches some of them over half the screen and it changes with temperature lulz. I have seen that stuff before on anything with an Otterbox Defender case with that built in screen protector, those always do that and it's hideous I couldn't live with my tablet doing that.
I have just sent my tf101 back for the newton rings effect you describe.. Maybe galaxy tab ain't the answer either then

Rubbish...just got the replacement and its got the same dumb newton ring type issue, touch the screen and you get rings n blotches.. Time for a refund.. Wonder if its a bad batch

[Q] Anyone been charged for repairs? FORGOT MICROSD CARD! :(

I've had my TF101 since launch and recently purchased a dock. Only trackpad on the dock works, none of the keys work. Tried the dock on another tf101 and it worked fine. After trying different roms and reverting to stock, came to the point where I had to send it in to Asus.
My question is, my bezel has 2 dents/knocks on the bottom corners, what are the chances Asus is going to say it's customer induced damaged and charge me for the repairs?
I remember reading a thread where someone had the same issue but I can't find it. Also I forgot to mention my light bleed had gotten worse and the rear case creaks, can I call them back up and tell them about that?
UPDATE: I just remembered that I complete forgot my 32GB microSD in the TF and it has a bunch of custom rom .zip files in it! What are the chances I get my microSD card back with my tF if they do replace the bezel?

It's 50/50 about the chances that they will call it customer induced damage.
Go ahead and call them up and tell them about it.
I'll be honest. Chances are you won't get your sdcard back. There's been too many reports of people not getting their stuff back. Here's why. In order to take out the bezel, they will need to remove the microsdcard. Chances are the card will get lost because it is so small.

On a lighter note, here's a funny story. As you may know, I modify docks to solder in a 500/750gb hard drive. One time someone sent me his dock with his sdcard inside. I promised him I'd put pictures of the mod process inside his sdcard. When I opened it up, I found 16gb of gay porn inside. Thought it was hilarious.
Note that I am not homophobic. I date guys, actually. Still think that was hilarious. Hope you didn't leave your porn collection in there LOL.

I had the latest version of Prime! and Revolver roms on their along with cwm and root apk's. Also had some videos of a storm that rolled through here last week and I think that's about it. But I just got the card, and for a good deal so I'll be pretty upset if I don't get it back
Side story: A couple years back I found a memory stick someone had left in the student lab, so I opened it up seeing if I could identify the owner and get it back to him/her. Well, turns out it was loaded with BEASTIALITY porn! I unplugged that thing soo quick and threw it across the lab floor, I didn't want to be caught with that **** on university computers!

Just got off the phone with Asus, I added the light bleed and rear case creak to my RMA but now i'm thinking I shouldn't have. This is probably going to make the repair longer and I'm planning on heading out of town next weekend, I highly doubt it's going to get back to me in time . Also it wasn't bothering me that much before and now i'm worried it's going to get back worse then before. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Regarding the microSD, the rep said he'd have to escalate my case to get the card sent back to me asap but no guarantee. TF hasn't reached them yet, should arrive either later today or early tomorrow. fingers crossed.
With their computer components you get ~14 days to post mark the item after you setup your RMA. You may want to read the entire email for your RMA.
And generally, no, you won't get your card back unless they immediately see the dents and package it up and send it back to you. Normally, ASUS isn't too picky, but there have been horror stories about the Texas RMA facility, sorry to say. If they do claim it as user damage, then they will email you before they repair it and ask if you want it done.
Edit: for I can count to potato.
Got the delivery confirmation earlier today at noon, but the RMA status says they still haven't received it. I Know they usually take a while to update the status but i'm going to call tomorrow to check if they've mailed back my microSD card.

The people in charge of updating your status can sometimes be pretty lazy. Last time I sent one in, confirmation said it arrived on monday, but their status said they hadn't received it until thursday. In fact, on thursday alone, it changed from not recieved to repairing to being inspected to ready to be shipped.
It's obvious they do everything and then changed the statuses all at once.
I just sent mine into the TX RMA facility and received notiifcation that the cracked screen was due to customer induced damage. I have babied that damn thing since day one and it's always been in a case when not docked in the keyboard. All this to say, if my experience is any indication, it doesn't matter what happened, they will blame it on you and you'll have to pay. Good luck, ASUS customer support is a joke.

My guess is cracked either closing it while docked to the keyboard or from inserting it into the dock/keyboard. Not sure which. It's never been dropped, abused, or misused that is for sure. I was told by the tech and her manager that the LCD screen never fails because of defects. It's always because of customer induced damage. That was an wesome hour-long conversation.

That sucks. I had a dell streak 5" and they manufactured it by putting the digitzer on the lcd too tight. So if you'd tap normally in any of the corners it would show on the lcd as if you're pushing really hard on it. Someone on xda posted that dell had acknowledged it's their fault so a bunch of people sent theirs in for repair, but I guess they got flooded with repairs that the customer service was told the LCD was not covered. Had a fun convo with one gentleman who kept assuring me that the LCD was software and not covered by dell's hardware warranty!
In the end I just told them it was white in the corner, although the lcd was clearly damaged, sent it in and they mailed me a new one without charging me .

Really? That's like saying if GM designed the tailgate on a pick up with a defect and when you closed it, using normal, proper methods and forces, if it breaks that is customer induced damage.
My point is that unless I'm doing something that is prohibited in the warranty (abuse/misues) then the damage should be covered because it obviously is a result of a defect (manufacturing, design, etc..., take your pick I don't care which). Your logic (and ASUS') suggests that ALL damage that occurs while a customer is using the device is customer induced. So the only way to avoid customer induced damage is to not use your device. Genius.
Really, I was just sharing a data point for the OP to consider since he asked if the group thought ASUS would invoke the magical and all-encompassing "Customer Induced Damage".
So no one has yet to contact me about my microSD card although someone was supposed to. Called Asus up a few moments ago and rep said he'd put the escalation on high priority.
Also the charger on my dad's tf just went out so had to do another rma for that. Why do these companies insist on using proprietary ports?

I guess in a sense you're right. You gotta understand, though, I've worked with a couple dozen units. Never had a problem with the dock causing any kind of physical damage. I'm just having a hard time visualizing how this was done.

Good luck. I just received notice that my TF shipped back today. I haven't decided if I'm going to and fix it or burn it in the backyard as I record it on my wife's iPad and upload to my new Facebook page, Asus Customer Service Sucks.
I did include all the original packaging and my wall adapter and power cord. I bet they don't make it back to me. I'd be interested to hear if your sd card makes it back.

I just checked the RMA status now and it finally updated from device not received to "Repairing". I guess this is a good sign as I've seen in other threads for those being charged or denied repairs had a different status.
Still no call from them regarding my microSD Said I would get a call 24-48hours from Thursday, I'll give them till afternoon today then I'll call them up and see what they have to say.

You can using the xda app, Sometimes uploads fail, but you can go into settings and change whether to upload the pic to xda or tapatalk's servers.

ok, it's not... but on the bright side, my microSD card is still in it
As for the repair, the dock now works and I knew I shouldn't have said anything about the light bleed and case creak.
It does appear they put a new LCD and Digitizer, but now rather than having a couple light bleed spots that were only visible in the dark, there is now one really bright spot in the bottom left. I haven't even viewed it in the dark so don't know if there are more.
For the creak, looks like they just put something behind the case where the creak was, but now the rear case is sticking out by a few millimeters. This makes it hard to put the tablet in and out of the dock.
Also they didn't say anything or replace the dented bezel. I think i'm going to take things into my own hands and do what this guy did.

that sucks. Is your charger dead? Plug it into your pc overnight and see if that wakes it up.

Dirt in screen Verizon galaxy s3

Alright so I got my gs3 today and I recently noticed that there is a piece of dust near the top of the display. I know it is dust because it is still visible with the screen off. I'm not really bothered by it considering it's about the size of a pixel. Do you recommend I attempt to exchange it, or just live with it. It's in the notification bar and is almost never visible and I didn't notice it the first time I checked it for dead pixels.

If it doesn't bother you I would just keep it. It is a major hassle switching out phones and the stores will generally fight you tooth and nail to keep from allowing the exchange unless the phone is really defective. Good luck!

To be honest I have more crap stuck in between my screen protector and the Glass. It's hardly noticeable so I'm not really worried. I know if I go into a vzw store they will be difficult. Even if I get a new one it could have a dead pixel smack dab in the center. Still an awesome phone.
It was a huge pain getting my Galaxy S3 replaced at a Verizon store for a legitimate problem- I had a dead pixel. The employee helping me refused to replace it, until finally the manager came and looked at it, deeming it a legitimate problem and allowed me a swap for a new device.
So if it doesn't bother you, don't worry about it.
I had my first GS3 replaced by T-Mobile. Right after I called they sent a brand new one overnight at no cost to me. Sent first phone back with the included return shipping label. Everything was easy as pie.

I am in Canada but I imagine it still works the same. I never go into the store to deal with problems like that. Call them up (not the individual store). The people on the other end are used to dealing with that all day and have the policy down pat. I would believe they would resolve the issue immediately and send a replacement. At the minimum you will be opening a ticket (file) about the issue. An remember polite and firm, if the original person you are dealing with cannot resolve to your satisfaction request talking to a manager. They have more latitude when dealing with issues.
An I am sorry it's brand new. You are entitled to have it in perfect working condition including not having trapped dust. Give them a call.
P.S. An yes you are bothered by it, or you would of never taken the time to Create your OP. An I would be bothered by it as well.

Ha Ha, well I got two new ones. the second one had a dead pixel right in the middle.

I just went through this myself, I bought a new S3 from Future Shop, it was great for the first 7 days then I just happened to have a grey wallpaper up and I noticed faint black lines almost in the middle of the screen and they ran from the top to the bottom, and as I scrolled the wallpaper back and forth they were very noticeable, I myself am the type of guy that now that I know its there it drives me crazy, I ended up taking it into the store and the sales rep looked at it and pulled another out to compare, he sat there for 10 minutes comparing it and finally told me the new one has the same lines but refused to show me it. So I took my phone and left. After I get home just before bed I noticed a black dot near the top, I tried wiping it off for I thought it was dust but it did not move, I could not figure out what it was, I thought dust but how did it get there in a matter of a few hours when I don't put my phone anywhere that it could cause dust to get into the screen like that, I ended up shinning a light on it with the screen off and it was not there so it was a pixel issue, I ended up going back to the store this morning where I had to argue and complain for 20 minutes before they finally exchanged it as they tried telling me it was dust behind the screen, anyway the new one is perfect. There should be no issue when you want to return or exchange your phone especially when you just shelled out $600 to buy it. But I suppose with the mass production of these phones there is bound to be issues with some.

[Q] Have my tf700 for about two weeks, screen flex noticed

I've bought my infinity two weeks ago and when I unpacked it I had noticed that on the bottom left side of the panel the screen is popping out a little bit, something like screen flex.
Yesterday, I've noticed that the left side of the panel has a flex as well.
I am really annoyed by this, since OK, I've paid a lot of money for this and now I might have to send it for a repair.
I've talked with the asus support in Greece, and the guy told me to submit a form that he would send me via email and a courier would get it from my house and it would be sent to Czech Republic for service and it would be delivered to me in a maximum of ten days.
Should I send it?
Is it really a big problem? (in example, will the whole panel pop out eventually :silly: )
I though of keeping it for some time and if it gets worse, then sending it..
What do you think?

did you bu it from a store, or online? if from online, send it back to the company and have them send you another. this might be quicker than sending to ASUS.
I bought it from a store in Greece..I called them and they referred me to Asus support in Greece..
Is this screen flexing a big problem or I can leave with it?

i dont see they the store cant exchange it. especially if you have the receipt.
im not sure if its a big problem, but i wouldnt want a device that has defects like that.

I might keep it for a while..I've stopped noticing it too much..The thing is, if it's something normal that did occur from the manufacturing process then I'm OK with it. I just don't want to end up holding the tablet at one hand and its screen at the other

From what I've read this is very normal for the Infinity. A lot of people have had similar problems with screen flex or even screen separation. Unfortunately most of them when the receive a replacement, the replacement is either the exact same problem or is even worse. So there is definitely something with the Gorilla Glass and their manufacturing process causing this that they haven't ironed out yet.
From what I've read if it's minor then it shouldn't be too big a problem (some people have the Gorilla Glass almost peeling off). I just got mine and notice the screen sticks up slightly above one of the dock connection points on mine, but knowing the problems others have had I'll use mine for a few days to see if it's worth returning.
So while you can certainly return if you want, considering what you paid it's understandable. But just know that the replacement you get is likely to have at least the same problem, and might actually be worse then the one you sent in. Another somewhat common problem is light bleed, which I think I have on mine also.

I've noticed the same across the bottom in mine. It appears exactly where the docking latched are located. I'm no longer going to leave the dock attached. I'll hook it when I really need it then remove and put it aside. I'd say the dock is putting too much strain on the glass. The docking hinge on mine is VERY tight to flip;p open and closed as well

[Q] Possible manufacturing defect?

When its completely dark, and the notification button lights are on, I can see light coming out of the bottom bezel (this is the part where the bezel meets the plastic part, between the home and back buttons). Does anyone else see the same problem? Should I ask for a replacement?

I cant see any light coming from mine mi 4i,
And i doubt flipkart/xiaomi will replace your device over this defect.:fingers-crossed:

It does sound like a defect. Flipkart anyways has a return policy, right? I think you can return it and get a new one if that's permitted.

I have the same problem. I am keeping the lights off so that it doesn't bother me
I know its a defect but I can live with it
Yes it looks to be a manufacturing defect.
You can probably talk to the customer care guys in your area to get a solution on this.
Or just ignore this as other users do.
I have placed a replacement order and flipkart customer care called me and informed me that the courier agent will come and pick up the phone in 3 days. Once they take the phone to the service center and if the phone is 'eligible' to be replaced, they will send a new phone within 15 days. I am just curious if this is worth the effort as i have read in some other forums that someone else got yet another defective piece as replacement.. What do you guys think?

Did you talk to the customer care people for replacement or flipkart?
Im one of the lucky customers who got to try 3 Mi 4i devices! lol.. First 2 devices had the same defect and as a last bet, i went with another replacement instead of refund. Luckily, Im now holding the third device which is defect free

For me, replacement was no hassle. Initiated replacement in Flipkart, Rep called me to confirm and next day, they delivered a new device and took the defective device. When I placed replacement req for already replaced device, Rep told that they wont provide replacement second time and instead he was ready to process refund. But I insisted on getting replacement for which he accepted and sent the replacement the very next day. I guess the city where you live in matters.. and I live in Bangalore.
I also got a replacement, but the new phone also has the issue. But its less prominent and I have to stare hard at the phone to see the gap. Anyway, I just decided to live with it and turned off the button notification so that's not a bother any more....

Hi nowfalsalahudeen, I will suggest you to update this one on the first page of this thread so that any one refers to this thread will know the root cause of this issue has been identified and solved.
