Anyone notice how easy it is to wipe fingerprints off the screen? - HTC Sensation

I've owned a ton of phones and this is the first phone where I can literally wipe across one area once or twice and all the fingerprints are completely gone. On my previous phones I would have to wipe over and over to get everything clean.

So easy that the screen protector I purchased from TMobile "wiped" off...
I'm paranoid about scratching the screen so I want a screen protector, but it came off so easily lol

If it makes you feel any better, I dropped my tv remote (pretty heavy) directly onto my screen today and there isn't one single scratch.
I honestly don't think screen protectors are necessary for newer phones.

Keep believing that. My G2X got scratched within a week of having it. I dropped it on it's back, and in the process got some grit on the screen. It scratched while wiping the grit off.

Obviously...that is your fault. Specs of sand or something will scratch the screen if you wipe it off with it on there. I'm very careful before wiping the screen...I blow off the screen first, then kind of brush the microfiber cloth very quickly over the screen to get more off, then finally I use pressure to wipe the screen.
With my previous phone, I didn't use a protector and it looked brand new the day I sold it.

Yeah this screen stays clean.. I took the screen protector off and noticed this. And whoever said its hard to see this screen in direct sunlight was completely lying.

Are you serious? Someone actually said the screen is hard to see in direct sunlight? I would have to say that the person who said that is downright lying and trying to bad talk the Sensation to justify there purchase of a different device. I can honestly say, the display on the Sensation performs in direct sunlight better than any phone I've EVER used. I can't get over just how easy it is to read in direct sunlight. I put it next to my G2X and it wasn't even a contest.

Two posters above, what is the date on your sensation box and where does it say it's from?

Lots of people have said that in various threads and forums. Seems most people only have great things to say about it. I should have mine tomorrow and can report back my findings.

Gorilla Glass is a wonderful thing!!!! My G2 screen still looks new after keys and coins in the pocket.

What is your display/brightness setting on? If mine is the highest then I have no issues seeing the screen in direct sunlight. However, if I have it set to auto, then it's not easy to see. The date on my box is 5/25/11.

Looking carefully at the screen, is does not seem to be a plain glass. There is what looks like a clear coat! Even the refloection on it when its off are not totally straight like on an ordinary phone, an HD2 for example. So I would suggest that there is some kind of (semi?) anti-print coating.
Note that the HD2 was also having a Gorilla Glass.

My 25/05/11 Sensation gets smudges on its screen very easily, and they are difficult to wipe off. It's also pretty hard to see in sunlight unless it's on maximum brightness.
Strange how I'm getting the opposite experience to other people here - jealous of you!

[Q] Sprint Screen Protectors

Anyone else using the sprint screen protectors for their epic? I just bought a pack and I'm really disappointed with them. They are just big enough to cover the screen it self. So there is no margin for error when putting them on. Also I think they are supposed to be anti-glare so make the beautiful screen of my epic hazy and almost pixelated. Any suggestions for decent clear screen protectors?
Does the epic really need a screen protector? I thought the screen was made from some super durable stuff?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
i know i made the sprint people put one on
i can take the hazyness until i get my skinomi
i recommend skinomi
Its still plastic and there are a lot of things that can scratch plastic.

I'll give skinomi a try. Thanks.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I took mine back for a refund. They just cost too much and made the screen feel unatural. They let me keep the one I had installed already until my new protectors came.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
People have been saying that the skinomi ones are too long I think... I'd recommend the phantom skinz one since I've had no problem, they have a cut out for the sensors and camera (which the skinomi does not have) and they have a lifetime guarantee.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
this is the one im talking bout i ordered one it has lifetime replacements and openings for the sensors and cam it is awesome on the htc hero so i hope it continues
Well, all I know is that at least the first batch of Skinomis didn't turn out so well. See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746037
Too long, but possibly good customer service? And like I said, no cutouts for the lights/sensor/camera. Skinomi has gotten plenty of good reviews for other phones, but for some reason the ones for the Epic haven't been well received.

Yup! I am no doubt in the minority but I have managed to scratch my screen. It was in strange circumstances having to do with hiking on a trail (and I hardly ever hike, less have my phone out...) but scratchedy it went. No 20ft heights or bouncing. Just fell face down from my pocket on a dirt path with a pebble somewhere in there. They're not invincible, people.
lol unless ur doing stuff like that you dont need a protector
under normal use pocket car table things like that no but if ur roughing it why not protect it and get a skinomi

Scratched mine easily... I have 2g steel plugs on my lobes, and the first time i heard them click against the screen I knew I'd have a problem. sure enough, there are tiny scratches from where my ear hit the screen. My fault for not putting a protector on sooner.
Also managed to put a little hairline scratch down by the menu button, but i have no clue how i did that.

You only get air bubbles if you're impatient and don't follow the instructions. Also, this will not prevent the issue with dust under the screen. The people including myself who have dust under the screen all received their devices with the dust already there. The LCD's are sealed and shouldn't allow any more dust to creep in. I hope that helps clear up your dust question.

That's not entirely true. My asian version of the sensation had some dust but it got worse over time. It started with just a few specks then it got worse within a few days. So if it was properly sealed the issue wouldnt have worsened over time, It would have stayed the same.
I just put one of these on (not ghostarmor, different brand) and the screen looks "fuzzy" probably because of the water still underneath the protector. Does this eventually dry up? I've squeegeed all I could out of it.
Give it a day or two.

Got my ghost armor today, didn't realize it came as a 2-pack! For some reason mine doesn't matted like yours, it's still kinda glossy like zagg. The coverage of GA isn't as extensive as zagg or phantom skinz, the corners are left uncovered. This is a kinda of bad since when you drop your phone, the corners are usually the place that gets dinged.

Sensation Back Cover paint/color coming off problems (Pics Added)

Well I just wanted to share with everyone my experience with the back cover and the color coming off after 1 1/2 weeks from the retail box. When I called HTC they did not give me any problems and sent me a new one.
I have kept the phone on Micro-Fiber cloths and what short time it is in a case it is in the T-Mobile sleeve for the Sensation which is soft inside. So I know it is not my use which caused it, the case is possible but I doubt it.
Bottom line is I think their could be some paint/color issues with the back cover so keep a watch for it and if you notice it call HTC and get a replacement.
So has anyone else experienced this? Please leave your comments.
Here is a couple of pictures of mine. You can see the area where the color is coming off just to the right and a little below the camera opening.
It looks like normal wear and tear from the body oils on your hands. I hope that isn't the case and their was some real issue. If this "issue" happens again I probably wouldn't ask for another case personally. On the bright side you can probably sell that other case for like $40 right now.

No when it leaves the micro fiber cloth it goes in to the slip pouch. I'm very protective of my phones and I will never put one of my phones in my pocket unprotected.
Other phones I have like the thunderbolt and MT4G I have never had this problem.
I just hope the new case holds up better.
Happened with my XPERIA X1 (made by HTC), happened to my N1, and now it will probably happen to my Sensation. Good to know.
Perhaps it's the skip pocket and the constant slipping in and out of something that fit's so tightly.

Perhaps but the slip case is from T-Mobile and for the sensation and is lined with a soft material. And I mean how many times I could have taken it in and out over 12 days period is, well not that many times as while I'm working I use my work phone.
I might try a different case on this new back cover to see if it makes a difference.
I feel like all phone covers with this surface will be rubbed off eventually
I am having the same problem. I've had the phone 3 weeks, and it is looking pretty bad. It only seems to affect the top third of the case. I'll try calling HTC...
btw, I am also using the t-mobile slip case...
Good thing I got a cover for it to avoid this. Although this does look like normal wear and tear.

You think this looks like normal wear and tear for a 12 day old phone? I would agree if the phone was older maybe but if the paint is coming off this quick after purchase I just can't see it being normal. Also this phone has been in a case when not on my micro fiber cloth.
I think it's your atomic hands. Or too much Texas BBQ!
I've had mine 35 days now and no visible wear on the cover. I have ZERO protection on my phone and it's either in my cheap holster during work or taking up it's solo pocket location in my jeans/shorts. My holster interior is not really that soft and I holster the phone a ****load throughout the day. Honestly... I would expect my phone to have a lot of wear already. I've been in love with the sexy feel of this phone since day one and find myself holding and caressing it sometimes even when I'm not using it.
Not sure if that helps or not but due to my holster and my almost perverse fascination with the feel of this device I would expect to see some wear on mine.
Exact reason I got my tpu Case. Need to keep the resale value up.

No it was definitely made by HTC, just sold by Sony. Because Sony could never produce a decent device. And THAT phone had a problem with its backcover, horrible I finished with rubbing ALL the color off, basically turning the black model into a silver model Looked as if it were new. But I think that's kinda hard to do with the Sensation because there are electronics in the cover. Or is it just metal parts for the antenna?

screen protectors

I find screen protectors are useless really for the sensations. They bubble and the finger prints smear to much. Just FYI the screen on the sensation are made of gorilla glass and can resist scratching. I did a few demos with some friends where id take a coin or a key and rub on the glass and no scratching occured. I dont recommend anyone doing this though. Thats my opinion.
I agree with you. I have had mine since launch and have never once used a screen protector. I put my phone in my pocket with loose change and keys all the time still no scratches. But I think this is all pretty well known, people just want that extra insurance that their screens won't get scratched

[Q] Wet application screen protector damage

I recently got an ArmorSuit screen protector, and applied it like I did all other wet application screen protectors. However, I guess as I was squeezing out the liquid, some got under the screen, as there is a dark, cloudy area around the border that looks like it's water damage. When turned off completely, there also is a light on in the corners. Meaning in a dark room, I can see it has some faint light in two of the corners turned on. Lastly, there is also a brighter strip of light down the middle that is about a centimeter in width and starts from the bottom of the screen to half way.
It's been about 24 hours since application, and I've left it off in a bucket of rice for those 24 hours. My question is whether or not this will go away with more time or if I'm just SOL.
Mine never dried out. I had the exact same thing happen. Replacing the LCD and digitizer was my only solution.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Very sorry to hear. This should be a word of caution to everyone who uses those types of protectors. I don't because they simply are too rubbery and unnatural but another reason is the weird feeling I have when spraying water on my phone.
For future reference, I always wrap the squeegee in a paper towel so that it absorbs the water as soon as it squeezes out from under the screen protector. I have never had any water get under the screen of my phone using this method.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
So I just booted it on again, and noticed that some of the grayish/cloudy parts disappeared, there's still some there, but I think it means it's going away, however the brighter strip of light is still there and there's some light flickering in the bottom and corners. Does this go away as it dries or am I stuck looking for a replacement screen?
This just happened to me. It's quite unfortunate, as I'm out of warranty (bootloader unlocked, lol), and the only option it seems I have is to replace the LCD and Digitizer. I'm going to try the good ol' rice trick, hopefully that'll fix it.
Sorry to hear this fellas, could have happened to anyone. You would expect the manufacturer to test the application of their products.... Hopefully the rice will help!

Why in the world would you use these terrible protectors anyway? Assuming you actually managed to get it installed without wrecking your phone, its still the worst. They feel sticky and rubbery.
Don't use this junk.
same thing happened to me, but worse. I got the armorsuit millitaryshield, sprayed the stuff on my phone, the phone screen went really dark, my new htc one x i bought less then a month ago for 500 dollars!!!!, it is really dim, but if you look closely you can kinda see but it needs to be really bright like when it boots up the one x white screen i can kinda see that cause it's really bright. I think a light or something in there broke cause of the liquid!! I contacted amazon, they refunded me for the screen protector and they said they might be able to do something for my phone, i also contacted the manufacter yesterday, no response yet....
I am really mad, cause i doubt it can get fixed, cause i bought it from someone who owned it for a couple of months, but never took it out of the box, so pretty much brand new just never used and i don't use it on att use it on h2o cause it cheaper. Anyone have any ideas or anything?

I agree, but my droid x never needed a screen protector it was so resistant to scratches on the screen, i may have got 1 or 2 little scratches after 2 and 3 months. my htc one x has like 5 long scratches after less then a month. did you contact armorsuit about it breaking your phone, it's been almost 2 days for me and no replies. Amazon has been quick to respond and everything, and they said they can't do anything about the phone cause no one had a similar problem according to the reviews, but now i have this, but they did refund me for screen protector, they said to contact armorshield for the phone. I said what if they don't reply, like people said they don't on the amazon reviews, the guy said my manager will call you on the 18th and see if we could do anything about the phone, if they don't fix it or pay for a new phone, how much will a new lcd+digitzer+putting it on cost?
if that is the problem, seems the only problem with the phone atm is the fact is its really dim, i think like a light in there broke or something from the screen protector liquid.

Can anybody recommend any dry screen protectors? so i can have it ahead of time, so i can apply it on the new screen once i get, so i have no scratches.
I bought the Zagg Invisible Shield HD protector. Wet application. Feels like glass. No rubbery feeling. But I make sure always when squeegeing, that I use cloth and soak up the solution as I get to the edges. Not one problem here. Sorry for your misfortune.
