Ok so heres my situation... I bought the inspire from best buy about 20 days ago on an upgrade, I decided to not get their black tie plan because I did not cause any physical damage to my old captivate so I thought I would be alright to pass on it this time. Until today that is... I had the phone in my back pocket and when I sat down I must have applied some extra pressure to the front and in result the screen in mostly shattered.
So I have decided to come to you guys in search for a few solutions. I noticed that you can add the black tie on up to 30 days from the purchase of your phone but I am doubting whether or not I could convince them to put it on my phone even though the phone is already broken but I was wondering if anyone here has ever had any luck getting this plan on after the damage had been done?
I would hate to think the best buy would really be so ignorant as to make me keep a phone with a shattered screen for the remaining 2 years that is on my contract (granted it is my fault it broke), I would like to think they would help someone in my position out to keep me happy and wanting to return back to their stores.
If there is no chance for this, then what would you guys recommend I do to get this fixed for as little cost as possible.
THANKS!
I just took a captivate that wouldn't turn on and they replaced it with an inspire. So I think they're pretty good about exchanging phones. Unless I just got lucky haha

With a phone that unquestionably has suffered physical damage, I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to go that far in wanting to keep their customers happy.
Unless this "black tie" thing pretty much effectively says "sure, throw your phone off a cliff, drive over it with a semi, we want you happy, so we'll keep giving you phones," then I wouldn't get your hopes up.
But like Matt said, you got nothin' to lose and everything to gain at this point...
You never know what they will do. In December I upgraded to an Aria for $0.01, I did get the black tie coverage. There was a slight issue with the earspeaker and I took it somewhere local so I wouldn't be without my phone for a matter of weeks. Needles to say, that was a mistake. The repair place screwed it up. I took it to best buy and long story short, after sending it off for repair 4 times they have me an Inspire.
I think it is a very good thing to get to know the ppl that work in mobile and not be one of those customers they hate to see come into the store. They all knew me by my first name.lol They have me my choice of phones and I chose the Inspire and have never looked back!
BB its usually quite eager to please the customer, they know if you are happy with their mobile dept. you may buy your next tv there also.

Well, there's a teeny tiny bit of difference between a bad ear speaker and a "mostly shattered" screen, but, who knows...
brick it ..... That is the only solution O.O. I remember while back best buy told me if I bought their protection plan, I could walk out side drive my car over my phone bring it back in and get a new one/ fixed, never tested it though.
Obviously don't buy the Black Tie plan and then immediately whip the phone out of your pocket.... If it was me, I'd take the receipt in and say that I decided to go with the black tie plan after all. Then I'd take it in the next day, or the day after that. It might still look suspicious, but not as.
I took the black tie protection for my laptop and TV. Laptop got its hdd replaced twice, without a question. He opened it, took the old one out, put in the new one, and gave the old one back to me.
In my opinion, its worth the trouble/hassle for 3 years.
Thanks for your help and suggestions guys, I will hopefully go up there tomorrow and basiclly beg thats what I get for not adding it on when I got the phone, just my luck. Btw, I wasnt trying to say that they owed it to anyone to replace it, I was just saying would be a kind gesture to someone, who messed up. All they would have to do is change the screen then sell it refurbished for about 50dollars less than a new one.
Also, why do they allow you to add the black tie within the first 30 days but your excluded if you have already broken it then your not allowed to have it anymore. Just my thoughts on it, please pardon my ramblings..
Thanks again for taking the time to respond though!

Well that's actually encouraging for the op, then. Unless of course they were exaggerating for purposes of selling the program.
I guess the only thing that would concern me is the amount of time the op takes between signing up for the program, and "cashing" in on it, so to speak.
I also don't know if they would require physical inspection of the phone when signing up, if done after the initial sale, when of course the brand new phone is there in front of them...
Just a quick update, I took it in today and they were very kind and helping and because I had the protection plan on my old phone they said they could add it back and and say that the person who sold me the new phone had forgotten to transfer the plan to the new phone.
They told me to wait 2-3 before I bring it back in for repairs because they are usually not allowed to do this to an already broken phone but the manager gave the approval.
Just thought that I would poke back so anyone in this situation in the future will have a bit of hope. And that this is another reason why I continue to get my phones at best buy... great customer service (most of the time) and a protection plan that is too good to pass up.

Congrats. Great news for you.
Try not to shatter the screen on the next one, will ya?
And thanks for posting back. It's always good to hear how these things play out.
Put it this way its like buying a car with out "protection" and just that one day after the 30 days you run into a wall.. Take the car back and say hey I would like to get the protection plan. 99.99% they will ask let me see the car. Just as in example. Its a business. But I have the Black tie and the buy back on my phone because just in case I do drop it its cover, I had it on my last phone they sent it out for a repair go it back in like a week brand new could not even tell. Rather then going through att paying 5$s on it if it get stolen and having to pay a delectable. Heck I even got water on my phone and it was covered. So its worth it to me. On the phones think about its your MOBILE phone you have it on you all the time rather it be in your pocket in case or in case on a belt clip you always have that chance of missing your pocket and your phone slips. and BOOM broken screen. And then your like AHH!! FML! lol

I dont know about rapidly, but they have always been good about replacing my damaged phones. I went through 2 captivates (both took a swim) and they replaced them both, but the process took over 2 weeks. And on my last captivate they let me switch to the Inspire since the Captivate was out of stock.
Here is my update, I took it in a few days after I got the plan added and the guy who helped was very nice. They said that they were doing to do a rapid exchange (still not quite sure what that means but I think it is something along the lines of receiving a refurbished phone) and that they would get my "new" phone in within the next few days which is better than the 27 days I waited to receive my Captivate from being fixed a while back.
What sucks is that I am using my miserably slow iphone 3g until I get the new phone in.
One last question, if I am on the best buy reward zone silver level, does the extended 45 day return policy apply to cell phones? And if so, would I be able to exchange the refurbished inspire for the infuse and pay the difference even though they would have technically given me a refurbished phone?
Thanks!

Sitting on a bench in a park, phone next to me (I know, idiot), get up, walk away, turn back 5 mins later cause I notice I don't have the phone on me, it's gone... Kept calling my number for a couple of hours, no answer, then switched off, so called O2 to have it blocked. Hope whoever nicked it get run over by a truck while trying to figure out how to use it.
that sucks, I really should get round to writing that software I've been planning to make that enables you to totally lock the phone down in the event some ****cake nicks it.
(and I'm talking to the point of making it impossible for them to reflash the device, though, obviously not impossible for you)
I wish I'd insured it, now I'm looking at about £300 if I want to replace it!!!! Then again, never insured any phones, so maybe I've saved this much over the years. Still...
Are there any cheaper but good quality windows mobile devices worth considering?
If you're looking for something to put you on for now, then maybe a secondhand artemis?
Does most of what a polaris does, just a bit slower and less at one time. My Mrs is still using my old one which is now a couple of years old and it's still does the trick with the latest software. In fact the screen response is quicker than my orbit 2
might do that, or see if I can get a used orbit 2 for an ok price.
my upgrade is more than a year away, so will have to get something...
Or are there any Nokias that will sync well with outlook (full contact info incl company entries, notes, tasks etc)?

you'd definitely want to embellish the truth if you had; losing the device by leaving it on a park bench would likely be something they don't cover.
Do you have house insurance? (as in contents). If so check your policy to see if it covers mobile phones as many do.
Following on from olipro's post, are you sure you weren't pickpocketed?
well, either way, it's gone now.
won't bother with checking home insurance. Even if it is covered the increase in premium because of the claim will buy me a phone.

That depends.
I got drunk and fell over years ago, smashing the screen of my HTC wizard.
I claimed on house insurance and got sent a new phone. My next year's premium only went up by £20 for the whole year. The phone (at the time) was still selling for over £250.
Also - even before that when i had a Sony Ericsson P800 which I accidentally smashed, I claimed that on home insurance as well. Next year I changed insurance provider and ticked the box saying "claim for less than £300 in the last 2 years"... they still gave me insurance that was cheaper than my last provider.
That's exactly what insurance is for. They only care about raising your premium if your house gets burgled and tens of thousands worth of claim is due. I've never had problems with relatively small claims...
it may be worth a try.
Thanks for the info, didn't know that, I'll check my policy

You shoulda put something like MobileJustice on it.
It's a free app that once installed on your device will send an SMS back to a second handset telling you the GPS co-ordinates of the stolen/lost device.
It does this even if the sim is changed.
My mate had something like that mobile justice thing on his phone. The guy who stole his phone get a rude shock when my mate started call him every night a 3am asking him when he was going to get his phone back.. My mate did knwo where the guy lived because the gps co-ords got sent with teh SMS.. but my mate never when around.
So, if you ever take your kids to the pool, make sure you check your pockets. I discovered that after 45 minutes my phone was in my back pocket of my swim trunks. I let it dry in the sun until I got home, then did the rice thing.
As of now, when I put the battery in, the light on the back flashes on, the phone vibrates, but thats about it.
I called the insurance and have a new one on the way, but its $130 I really didnt have to spend.
I did the same except it was a party so I had to play it cool but the girl who's house I was at flipped out and felt terrible as I pulled it dripping out of my pocket and we went inside and put it in rice. A week later I took it out and it booted up but the digitizer was sadly dead

Yep. What was weird was that after the 45 minutes, there wasnt as much water pouring out as I thought, There wasnt even any under the screen like I would expect, but I would rather pay the money for a full functioning phone than one that onlu partially works. I just am glad its covered. I remember a time when no water damage was covered at all.

dont you just hate when that happens? its happened to me a couple of times, but thankfully my phones at the time were crap so it didnt matter that much to me. but yeah Im glad phones with water damage are covered now, or youd be out around $400 for a brand new phone
Yikes.....
This reminds me of when I was pushed into a pool with my cell phone in my pocket. It was a BB8900 that was ruined. The culprit immediately gave me the cash to buy a new one, thankfully.

Cuz I am not elidgable for an upgrade until next year and dont have $550 to fork out for the Sensation. I would love to get it, but thats way too much out of pocket for a phone.
Here's a quick tip for people that fall into this trap, never call in and say it got ruined in water or your screen is broken, you always take out the sim and keep it off wait a day and call your provider and tell them your not sure if it's stolen or lost.
They will charge you the $40 dollars and send you the new one, if your phone is not missing or stolen they will not take care of you. This can only happen in one calender year so no insurance jobs. You have to be on an insurance plan prior to this event other wise you pay the whole amount.

Don't know if insurance fraud is something that should be suggested on here. Don't get me wrong, i could care less about how much money insurance companies make off of a claim. But not a good suggestion nonetheless.

I don't carry insurance on my phones because it's a ripoff. Why am I going to pay asurion 5-6 bucks a month for them to send me some crap refurbished phone IF i break or lose my phone. I would rather save my money and buy a used one from someone online for the price of the deductible they are going to charge me IF I file a claim. Btw i have been using cell phones since the brickphones came out and have never broken or lost one yet.

We have a pool at our house, for the most part phones stay well away from the water...but accidents have happened. When we went to seaworld last summer, there were people who were vacuum sealing phones in clear plastic which is a great idea...headed to Walmart and bought the sealer and a pack of small bags...works great for days that we know we will be out there all day. I can even punch a hole through the sealed part at the top and put my phone on a lanyard to wear around my neck

Strange to hear that. Its cool if thats what you do, but the referbs that come from them are certified referbs and have a 6 month warranty. They even cover stolen or lost cell phones. My personal choice has always been to get the insurance. $130 for a like new to me is better than $200 plus for a like new used from someone. jmo
You also mentioned "IF". Thats what insrance is all about the "IF" siutation. I do know that the insuance companies make millions on us because the "IF" usually never happens, but that's life I guess.
Actually it's a known fact, they list it in their disclaimer when you pay for insurance they have to tell you what the terms of service are. It clearly states if damage to any device is a result of the user then you are solely at fault and no claim will be entertained by said warranty, if the device is either stolen or lost under said claim then the deductible will apply and a replacement will be issued over the contract term not to exceed more than 2 times over a calender year.
They basically tell you to not bother if the screen is cracked or the buttons pop off but if it's lost or stolen then give us a call.
I actually dropped my last phone in the water while working on a side job and when I called the customer service person said "Ohh so you lost the phone, we'll send you out a new one then" AFTER I told him what happened.
Their well aware of what happens and mistakes get made but why pay for a service if it's not working for you. I didn't scam anyone nor did I offer any information that wasn't offered to me direct from T-Mobile, I paid my $40.00 dollars and had my phone back in 3 days (My Touch 4G). It's better than paying for the phone out right or second hand.
For those whom think I'm some thief or a scam junky just don't read the suggestion, keep paying top dollar for services you never use and we'll be cool I really don't care either way but for those whom live in the real world and know every penny counts take my advice and keep your investment, what's funny about "those with negative responses to my suggestion" is here you are on a site that's main goal is to develop solutions for software issues not provided by your carrier and freedom of use and the right to use what you pay for on all devices posted here ( Will Void Your Warranty threw your Provider for Using!) has something to say about it.
I love the site and would never have anything bad to say about it, I believe all of the dev's and site staff have a good thing going here and hopefully everyone can learn from all of it as you should, people need to take a bigger step and learn how to do for them selves and others instead of just being sheep and this site supports that.

Do the rice thing with the phone as disassembled as you can, about an inch of rice, the bag full of air and sealed, shake it good (to make the air inside really really dry) and leave it for 48 hours.
That revived my Samsung Blast from completely dead, couldn't even get the charge light to come on.

Thanks for the recommendation but there was no hope for it. It was swimming for 45 minutes at least. Plus I called for replacement right when I found out. I want a fully functioning phone, not one brought back from dearh.....LOL
I hear you there, you know some where down the line it will just give you problems anyways and my phone is everything as far as work goes and knowing where I need to be every day matters when your a tech.
I don't mind taking a risk when the over all out come means I benefit more down the line and being able to fix my own equipment means I make more money later so making sure everything I have works properly is key not only for myself but also my customers.
So I have been reading that quite a few people believe that the phones given to you are pieces of dung.
Is this true? I have just placed a phone claim order as I have cracked my screen and between the cost of replacing the entire digitizer/lcd it is cheaper to get an entirely new one weird huh?
Anyways, for 5 bucks a month extra, hell why not.
I cracked my screen, (not the LCD but the glass on top) so that's what I have filed.
I am worried though that since I have rooted/changed ROM's on my phone they may raise question?
Should I worry? Although it seems that they will take my device anyways as the return rate (which is quite speedy) 1-2 days would not be able to catch my device in time for testing it and determining that it has been tampered with.
Though that is not the problem that I have stated rather that it is physical damage (which it is).
I'm just worried that I'm going to get something which might have been bricked, or something that was dropped, they said physically they look brand new.
I don't know... who has gone through this process?
I will have in two days time so I guess if anything, I'll let you guys know.
But at 180-200$ for just the screen vs. 125$ for a 'new' Infuse... hmmm
This was actually the WAY i got my infuse.....
i had the plan on my Captivate, i Bricked it and didnt want to by a Jig....so i told them i lost it and to send me another one. through some Att misshaps and a lil perssistance on my end they ended up giving me the infuse for free....but at any rate. i have not noticed anything janky about the phone. and my mother has just gotten her Captivate replaced as well. and again hers seems to ok as well.
if anything you can always send it back it doesnt work........they will just replace it again.
That sounds assuring. Can you run any tests (benchmark perhaps) to test for any irregularities?
Although you did say you don't really notice anything wrong.
Primarily I'm concerned for the fact that my brand new phone (supposedly) will be replaced by a possible refurb.
Oh well these devices must go through rigorous testing I'd like to think so.
Thank you for your input
FYI beginning in October, the monthly rate will increase to $6.99 and the deductible to $199.00! Thats $367.00 to replace a phone once over the course of a 2 year contract. What a deal!
Its a toss up. who's to say the phone your getting was not just Bricked. then all they had to do was reload and run there lil software and now the phone is ready to be sent to a new Customer. would you call that an old phone.....not everyone has Physical problems.
again, i have noticed nothing wrong with the phone i have. i change roms ALL THE TIME on both of them. i have bricked and unbricked both of them. the functions all seem to working.
i Hate their Customer Service, but the phones seem to be on the up and up.
This is also how I got my Infuse. Someone decided they wanted my Captivate more than me and took it.. I called Asurion and they tried to offer me an LG or a Motorola phone. I told them these options were unacceptable and I do not find them comparable to the Captivate.. They put me on hold and told me they would give me the Infuse.
All the replacement phones through Asurion are "refurbished". Even if the phone was damaged they replace anything and everything that has damage to it. I have had 0 problems with mine, it also came with a 2gb microsd card and a car charger
But you don't get that brand new smell
Alright, well if all of these claims are true, then I should be a happy man.
@jz3 - I can't help but think that your response is somehow sarcastic
Let me do the math... $600 phone for 2 years, plus ($98.00 x 12 months) 2 years
vs. $600.00 + ($100.00 x 12 months) 2 years
Option 1 - $2952.00 + $125.00 (first buy till moment of break)
Option 2 - $3000.00 + $125.00 (new phone) (after first phone)
I probably missed something... deductible does that only apply to when you actually order a phone?
Anyways... hopefully I won't be doing this again, what a sleek phone though, I've had probably three people who have held my phone exclaim how light it is (is that the right word?).
I just love the massive screen and of course the fact that we can change them
Thanks guys, I ran out of thanks so... here are some internet "thanks" to you and you and you
Where do they end up making up for their 'theoretical loss' ?
There are cheaper phone insurance providers
Just shop around. Their usual requirement is signing the policy within 30days of phone purchase.
here's one with a cheaper deductiable

I'm still with AT&T coverage but will mostly likely drop them for a cheaper provider on my next upgrade.
Google is your friend.
Wait a minute perhaps I'm not understanding the phone bill.
This is my first phone line under my name so I'm new to this.
I thought that because of the etra 5 a month I'm able to get a 'new' phone for 125 thats it then I keep paying my regular 91 a month plus the two more dollars (5-7).
Maybe I should look at my bill again

All the replacement phones through Asurion are "refurbished". Even if the phone was damaged they replace anything and everything that has damage to it. I have had 0 problems with mine, it also came with a 2gb microsd card and a car charger

For sanitary purposes, EVERYTHING has to be replaced that could have been touched by the previous owner. Usually, the only thing reused is the actual motherboard for the phone. The case, mic, speaker, earpiece, etc has to be replaced.
I used Asurion when my microUSB port went bad on my Infuse, had no problems getting a replacement that has worked very well since. Sent them back a rooted/rommed phone and they didn't care at all

That's because when they get the phone, they don't look at the software at all. They put the motherboard into a new shell for the phone, and then use their software to send the phone back into stock (flashes bootloaders to, so it fixes bricked phones).
That's why they never figure out unless you get REAL unlucky.
Just a quick question, I had gotten a confirmation on a package being sent early this morning (boy they're fast) and I was curious if I should wipe everything on my phone and also if I should send them my micro sd card as well?
Also about setting up the new phone, how hard is that besides just placing the sim card in the phone (getting back onto the network and such) do I need to bring it into AT & T?
What else do I need to send in or just the phone itself?
I was told that there would be instructions in the package.
Wouldn't it be neat if I was able to pull the switch-aroo on them and pull out my motherboard on put it on the new phone that they sent me.

maybe cool, or just alot of work..........Keep the SD card. Keep the Cables. they just want the PHONE.
Well I'm already running the new phone (rooted at that) although I think I'm keeping this stock rom for now, (I flashed it earlier before the Infused 1.5) but I like this rom, it's efficient and at my use it does the job well.
The phone looks brand spanking new as others have said, the outside is entirely new, just the inside (didn't look so don't know if that is true based on my experience).
New accessories (very nice, now I can have dedicated USB chord and charger chord) .
It took me a while to figure out how to reset the crap load of numbers on the phone to register myself to the open airwaves (imagine the free service if you knew how to de-code so to speak).
So far I'm happy, I only had one weird issue at first, when I scrolled down on a webpage, half of the screen (looking at it landscape view) would not move with the rest so there was this clear dividing line in the middle of the page... weird.
It's not doing that anymore though.
Thanks for the input though guys, I'm happy
I hope my bill doesn't sky rocket to Venus.

As long as they get your old phone back within (I think 7 days), you'll be fine, and someone else will be enjoying the innards of your old Infuse.

Sad isn't it? At least I had the courtesy not to break it by bricking it hehehe
Also I almost wish that there was a way to leave like a digital imprint on there, then the next guy could leave his imprint, it could be known as 'The phone that traveled the world"

The monthly service fee is not part of the cost of replacing a phone.
Cost of replaced phone with insurance = total amount of insurance premiums paid since last claim + any deductible.
Cost of replaced phone without insurance staying on same carrier= Cost to buy replacement phone either new, refurbished or second hand (ebay/craigslist)
Cost of replaced phone without insurance leaving carrier = ETF fee + Cost to buy new or replacement or second hand phone with or without contract on another carrier or mvno
All phones that are processed through Asurion have undergone a 50-75 point checklist, depending on the device.

I've had my shift since feb. Rooted since day one.
Phone works, keyboard works, speakers work, everything works. Battery seems to drain faster, but hell, its a year old and gets used extensively.
I have the $8 insurance thing through them since day one. Never once used it.
My phone has been dropped more times than a $10 crack whore. Dented, scratched, chipped, etc. But as I said, all works.
Do you guys think sprint would replace it with a new phone under the insurance plan? Has anyone done this? Does it have to be broken to be replaced? Does the deductable apply? Should I try to replace it in a sprint store, radio shack, or does it have to be done via phone/snailmail?

If the phone is still in good working order, cosmetic damage will not get you a replacement. Unless that damage is to the screen ( cracked screen ) . If your screen is just scratched they will not do it. As for a good place to try and possibly get a replacement. I would try the Sprint Authorized Repair CenterIt's where when I've had an issue with my phone It's been resolved every time. But experiences vary a lot from what I've heard.
Or if you really want a new phone just throw it on the floor till it does break and say someone tried stealing it and it fell in the middle of the street while a car ran over it
Find a friend at a sprint store and have them send you a REPLACEMENT. ASURION IS A LAST RESORT.
Thanks guys. I don't know if there's a repair center around here, but I'll check.
As far as the "accident", I've considered many options. Such as a drop in the potty during #2... and bringing it to the store in a bag with poo attached. Bet I wouldn't even have to unroot!!!
I will probably try the replacement path first. The salesman I used was a straight up guy, or seemed to be. I may take a ride up to huntsville this weekend and see if he still works there. Hopefully.
I guess I'm foolish for not knowing, but the insurance that comes from a true sprint store, is that assurion? I thought it was something they handled directly. I guess the confusion comes from different posts I've seen here. Didn't one of you guys break hinges a while back and get a new phone? What was your situation as far as sprint, insurance, etc.?
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
Well the cofusion usually comes from Sprint spliting up what they do " in house " , vs what they call an " insurance claim ". Although from my understanding if you do not have T.E.P. , then you cannot make an insurance claim. They do have guide lines, but I've seen different stores interperate them differently. The biggest thing IMO is that if they do not resolve the problem in house ( at the repair center / store ) then they try and make it an insurance claim. You then have to contact Insurian, that realy sucks. Because then you most times end up paying the deductable, which is now $100 .
my earpiece went out last saturday. i brought it to a repair center and they kept it for a few hours. They told me they couldn't fix it, so they ordered me a new one, but it was on backorder and didn't know when it will be in. Been calling everday and a no go.

updated reply from me: DO NOT REPLACE YOUR ORIGINAL PHONE IF THE ONLY PROBLEM IS COSMETIC DAMAGE.
I have swapped 3 Evo Shifts already. I speak from experience. I actually sent the last replacement back because the microphone did not work properly.
I purchased the G2X about 4 months ago and it's been nothing but a nightmare. I've been with t-mobile for 5 + years now and I've never had a bad experience up until now.
The initial handset worked fine but then the wi-fi stopped working. I tried EVERYTHING. I sent it back, paid the $20 fee and got a new one a week later. That phone started messing up as well. It started with random reboots (even after factory resets to stock) along with it freezing overnight (on stock rom as well). Now, the funny thing is right before I go to send it back I spill a TINY amount of water on the back of the phone. Out of habit I immediately pull the battery out... What happens next? The small droplets of water on the battery slide down RIGHT ON TOP OF THE WATER SICKER! /facepalm. I got to eat a hefty fee for that.
ANYWAYS, back on track, I get a new one (my third and current phone) and it does the SAME thing again. Freezing overnight, overheating, wifi is sketchy. I OC'd it to 1.2 GHZ and it runs fine and then stops working. Regardless if I fried it the damn thing wasn't working to begin with.
T-mo is offering to send me yet another handset (and another $20 warranty fee im assuming) but I don't want another one of these ****ty phones from them! Not if they keep failing on me. I've expressed this each time and each rep won't listen to me (or maybe they can't understand my English since they're all from India). Is there anything I can do? Or do I just keep going through this process. I hate this phone. Hate.
Has anyone else been having problems with tmobile? I remember loving their service back in the day... Sigh.
So you've obviously had/have root are using custom roms/kernels mixing and matching things around? Some of these are lemons that's without a doubt. I have no issues but you might just want to ask to be transferred to a manager or supervisor, get the fee waived or try and get a different phone replaced.

Keep pressing them. I raised holy hell with them and they replaced mine several times. I literally went through about eight or nine. (But I never waited longer than two weeks though.) I lost count. Out of those, I got two good ones. Problem free they were. Both of which I dropped.....now I have another crappy one. sigh.
But there really are good ones. People here are more than happy to tell you all about theirs LOL. Maybe you'll get lucky.
If you don't want another, maybe you can try for a replacement and you'll luck out with a NEW unopened one. This could be sold unopened and the proceeds used to get a Sensation or Galaxy Nexus.
But there really are some good ones out there. My estimate is 25% are good. Maybe a higher percentage of the newer ones? But the problems you describe are classic.....been there done that.
consumerist.com is a good source for executive email addresses............the squeeky wheel gets greased.
Thank you so much for that link. I'll go ahead and start e-mailing trying to get this resolved. I'm so sick and tired of sending phones back.
When the water got on the Water Sticker and you had to eat it and buy a phone, why did you by a G2x instead of something else at that time?

Because it was still under warranty and -ANY- damage that voids that will only cause them to charge you the $75 fee (+ tax). That was cheaper than buying my own parts to fix the screen or purchasing a new phone. They sent me a refurb one that is currently stuck in a bootloop =/
I have been through this before if you don't want the phone tell them to switch you into something that is the same in performance. They have to do it. After you have returned a phone more then 2times and don't let them tell you that you can't because its all bull go up the food chain if you have to

You can also threaten to cancel your service and they will transfer you to customer retention department and they can do alot more than the ordinary cs rep with customer retention you should get some results
