REQUEST: Sprint NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile - Please.

I have a rooted phone. Im going to the Daytona 500 this weekend and thought it would be cool to listen to the drivers and such. When I try to download the app from texting NASCAR to 7777 it says I dont have a compatible phone. I suspect due to the root.
Anyone have this app I can download and throw on.

Does that app even work? I tried installing it and it just said "loading" for about 5 minutes.
But I guess its not a question of if it works or not its a question of getting the .apk

The app worked great today. It allows me to listen to drivers and team chatter from the different cars.
Its a great app for Nascar fans, albeit, Im not a huge fan. But being at the Daytona 500 and being able to listen to the teams is fun. Its was a great race.

No, it doesn't work or at least it is extremely buggy.
The app is sort of a portal for NASCAR news and also provides telemetry, scoring and audio feeds on race day. Its actually a great app if you're in to NASCAR (which I am) but its basically un-usable on android. It was slow on my blackberry but at least everything worked.
When I used it on my hero, the backlight would time out and the app would not update data. Also, it was just plain buggy with some screens not even loading.
I wish they would fix these issues.

Wow! I just upgraded to dc 2.1 and downloaded the Sprint cup mobile app and its running like a top. So fast and everything seems to work so far. Most functionality doesn't kick in until the race starts so i'll report back later but so far I'm just blown away. This is the way stuff is supposed to work!

I just wanted to follow up: the audio did not work during the race yesterday. No audio, no options, no nothing. Everything else I tested worked fine except there is no keep-alive option and the leaderboard is a little flakey when the phone wakes up. The audio may have been a Sprint problem. They are just as flakey as their software. Have to try again next week at Martinsville.

Probably not. I'm guessing that data must pass through a Sprint proxy to prevent that. That's just speculation, though.

Yeah it installs fine...but wont even run before sayin im not sprint or nextel. This is friggin stupid id pay sprint to use it. VZ had this app for years until Winston gave up the NASCAR sponsorship

Any clue what may be wrong with that apk thedudejdog? I have installed many apks and never had an issue. I install this NASCAR and it installs...but when I open it, the app just stays on the main screen and says its loading for 3 minutes or so...then it reboots my phone.
Any help?

Well if your not on Sprint it wont work. That's the issue some of us want fixed.

Youtube Videos on how to Root the Inspire?

Are there any youtube videos out there to help the people who came from the Captivate or Iphone on rooting the Inspire. I know some people will say the instructions are in the zip file in the hack kit. But there are people out there like me that learn better and fast from visuals then reading. If I can see how to do it, I will learn it faster and easier.

That would be awesome. I find the instructions very confusing and don't quite understand them.

Thank you very much r343rex.. This will help me out alot. I am coming from the Captivate and it was actually really easy to root it. Just use Odin3, put the zip file on the phone, put into download mode and flash the new zip file.
This gold card looks really confusing.

I was told it was against xda rules. I pm'd the mod, awaiting a reply. Like I said, they're up all over the place but nevertheless this video looks promising until we get stock root

yeah that would be good for all of us, cause as of now I want the inspire and if you make this video showing how to root and make the gold card this would be a big help to all of us...

It's a good idea to have it installed But for the most part, you won't need it

I would like some people to beta test something I have been working on in the HD2 forum, which I think will benefit MOST people. I cant guarantee it will work for everyone. I started this project in the HD2 forum because the GPS drivers are not complete with agps support, and made a new gps script to aide in helping lock times to be quicker, and to lock onto more sats. Which has been successful.
I have an Aria that I had laying around and my daughter wanted to use, so I decided to let her use it, which I just rooted, flashed a stock att rom, and upped the radio to current, then installed gps status and tried testing the gps. I was getting 2 sats with difficulty, after I replaced the gps.conf file, my lock time shortened very quickly and instantly had locks to 9 sats.
So even though I know the file is universal and just about any android phone can use this, I would like if people could try my file and post results here to see if it helps people with trouble with their GPS and even if you dont have trouble, if you just want to try it.
Some Inspire users that I have suggested this to have had positive results, which lead me to post in this forum to help and see if it makes a difference for anyone else. (I have an Inspire 4G as well)
Most from what I see only get a lock to 4 or 5 sats, seems 9-12 is unheard of. The files are in CWR so flashing it through recovery should not be a problem. If you want you can just pull the gps.conf file from the zip and adb push the file. The link obviously is in my Signature, but just to make it easy:

Of course by the name, I have made files for the USA broken down into 6 regions, and I also made files for 62 countries.

But I am more then happy just to give back to XDA with what I can. If any Dev's wish to use any of my files, you may do so as long as credit is given where credit is due.

Edit: 18 sec. lock indoors with 8 sats.

My gps has been pretty fast before, still going to try this out.

Didn't work well for me. 3 sat fix almost instantly but then it would take about 5 min to get a location lock and the accuracy was absolute ****e. With stock settings I could lock outside in 15-20 sec with 20 meter accuracy. Guess I need to learn to leave good 'nuf alone.

With the app GPS status.. my CM7 (final build) takes 2 minutes to reach 2-3 satellites and the app isn't done testing! With this script, the app took 6 seconds for full 7 sat lock on! 6 seconds and the app was DONE testing...! Thank you!!!! ps testing was in-doors.

You get a wink OP. Thats how amazing this script is. Inside, during a thunderstorm, I got 11 SAT locks Amazing stuff.

I flashed country as the Northeast one wouldn't download on my phone lol Works just fine. But Im going to try the Northeast one today and see if I get the same results.

I flashed 1.0 and it works perfectly. Only takes at most 30 seconds for a lock.

The 1.1 has been broken down for the US regions, all the links should work, remember they will not download from a phone, and I have no idea why, but if anyone has any trouble downloading the files check to make sure you have pop-up blockers off, also if you click on it it will open a new window with a blank page and a gold download bar, or you could try right clicking the link and try open in new tab.
the new versions are more focused specifically for the different regions.
But I am glad its working well for most of you. Glad to help out.

Yes the install script on all of them says the same thing, I was doing it at 3am and was too tired to do the banners for each and every place.

[Q] No ICS love for Rogers users?

I jumped for joy earlier today when i hopped right onto XDA to do my usual look around the forums for the skyrocket. And right infront of me were the words "ICS for SKYROCKET"
I quickly Downloaded the file and went on my way to wait for my phone to be brought back to me...only to figure out that Rogers users were left out in all this fun and joy
To my understanding, hardware is all the same...
What could possibly be done?
Is it best we wait for a work around or have someone create a custom ROM.
(Sorry guys, im new to this whole kernel/rom/rooting thing )

I think we just gotta stick together and wait it out for silver to get his ICS CWM flashable zip working.
Once that happens... do I need to say it?

How are you liking it so far?

I love it so far. I had to do a factory data reset but after that it works flawlessly. The only thing that doesn't want to work is google wallet

Firmware check wont pass

Check the development forum. There's one rooted ROM for ICS posted that may be worth trying and another one upcoming.

None work. They all have the most ridiculous lag and everything FCs. Takes like 5 mins to click something. I've flashed em all. The only one that boots up nice is the one in the t989 forum but nothing works (no data etc) so we dont have it

It's more than bearable. Very smooth, the bugs that it has seem to be in line with the bugs in the AT&T Odin install. Can't confirm LTE as I don't have it in my area yet.

wifi issues

is there anyway to boost wifi reception on the shift? a lil bit of background info i just got my replacement shift back from sprint and rooted it thenks to indirects write upand prboy1969's help. but after rooting i have experienced horrible wifi range i have to be about five feet away from the box to have excellent strength but if im about 15-20 feet away it says poor and i have to have the shift pointed directly at the wifi modem. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Yea sorry wrong choice of words the 1% mod that you linked from the uot kitchen i think it was. Honestly i think it is the phone because before i got it replaced the old shift i had had great range on it but i think im going to unroot and check it again and see if it works on stock. If not ill be calling sprint on monday.

My replacement Shift has horrible Wifi reception also right now. Did you unroot and check to see if it's better on stock?

I know you probably already did this stuff. But did make sure nothing is blocking the signal coming from your Router ? I know that on my house soemone always wants to try and tuck the Router back behind something, or put something on top of it. Because it's Ugly. Also Routers give off a better signal when they're not on the floor. Did you go into Menu-Settings-Wireless & networks-Wi-Fi settings-menu-Advanced , and make sure you have Best Wi-Fi performance checked off ? Then Menu-Save.

Hey sorry I didn't reply sooner it was a problem with the phone so I had to get another one but to my surprise they didn't have anymore shifts. I had a choice between a referbed epic the old one with the keyboard or a new in box EVO 3d so I went with the 3d. So sadly I won't be around the forums much anymore

Good choice but the only issue with the lastest EVO 3D is the newer hboot that has to be unlocked using the htc tool. It seems HTC is making it harder and harder to get S-OFF bootloaders

Well you choose well, if those were your only choices. But it kinda sucks as far as the way your going to have to use to gain root. But have fun with the new phone .

Did you get a white 3d or a black 3d? If they gave you a white one they screwed you... The white evo3d went e.o.l. the same day the shift did...
