Hi guys. Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong secction. I saw that Acer Iconia guys can use 3g dongles via some mods. Here's the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14603952
Just wondering if any of the talented devs around here can make this too on the Xoom?
Thanks!
This looks cool. I have a Huawei dongle... have you tried this procedure?
This is interesting, sadly i don't have root to test it, but this could be reason to root...
ok I've tried but it doesn't work seems to be related with option.ko and usb_wwan.ko not compiled for kernel version 2.6.36.4 but 2.6.36.3
do you know if any devs are looking in to this?
Somebody knows , when someone will compile this module to current kernel version of XOOM???

Hi all,
I try to run the openvpn scripts for the dream on our magic, but with no success. I don´t know if it´s a problem with the kernel version or the tun.ko module. did someone know how to load the tun.ko modul on the magic?
It only come included in the ADP rom version? Do i need to compile it with the magic kernel?
Thanks...
No one know about how to load tun.ko module in magic? come on android gurus!!!!
let me see a bit of light
there is an ADP rom for de magic? that include the modules (tun.ko)?, maybe the ION rom?
Come on android kernel hackerks, no one know about the modules????
JF 1.51 ADP has tun.ko.
*Bump* I too would love to have VPN working from off my Android device. Nobody did this before?
For what do you need this? University or some other alike networks? It's possible for me to use besides openvpn a WPA2 Enterprise connection with TTLS and certificates... maybe it's possible for you too. Then try "Wifi Helper Pro/lite"!
Common poteck, answer him already!
EDIT: ooops I didn't realize how old this thread was.

How do I overclock, do I need a tiamat ROM / Kernel?
Please can someone give me steps on how to do this, searching high and low for a solution.
Thanks for your help

You need to flash either the Tiamat or LaunchPad kernel.
Find their threads in the Xoom Dev forum and follow the very simple instructions.
I found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013&highlight=TIAMAT
But it says must have android version 3.1 only. I have 3.0.1
Also does the taimat kernel have to be flashed using an sd card and does the recovery tool have to be flashed or can this be left out?
I found this http://www.android.net/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=43 , will this work with uk xooms or is their a specific tiamat for US/UK versions
Thanks for your help
Ok so I need taimat version 1.4.1 as this is compatable with android 3.0.1.
Will the taimat 1.4.1 be ok with the 3g uk version?
So i need to install CWM by using adb to flash it to xoom -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
I can then get a microsd and put the taimat 1.4.1 kernel on there, and install it that way.
Is this right?
Thanks
I used the Euro 3g thread to bring mine up to 3.1, then flashed the new kernal, then pushed back over the files from step 4 of the Euro thread.
3g works but I dont have an SDCard...:/

It's quite same like Acer A500
for 3.2 there is no really simple way, but this is not that bad eather, here is what I did:
1) donwgrade using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 (edit: or maybe this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539 I dont remember, only neded think there is, that you need to add something at some point in front of the serial)
but with EUUs_PB_G100W_1.007.03_COM_GEN1 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
(well...its just download PC drivers from PB site, enable usb something (debugging or waht?) in tablet, find out serial number, run euu)
2) root it using iconiaroot
3) install CWM and flash whatever ROM you like, I used Taboonay 2.2
edit: I used taboonay cause my Huawei 3g dongle works with it
Hi there,
i was wondering if there are any new methods to root a Packard Bell Liberty Tab?
Also i wanted to tell you guys, that you can download the source code of both kernel (Honeycomb 3.0 and 3.2) on the support page from packard bell.
Maybe someone can use that for recovery.
Also i wanted to ask you guys, which ROM is the best for the Liberty Tab (maybe with support for Keyboard which works via a Bluetooth dongle)?
Hopfully someone will answer me
Thanks in advance
darius_raven
I`m quite happy there is a forum for liberty tab on xda
Thete is one on android hilfe too
The best ROM is for me tegraowners ICS!!!
Civato the creator of FLEXREAPER uses liberty tab him self. His ROM is nice too! But at the and it is allways a question of personal taste... .
m.
I am having trouble finding answer to my query...
Would you please tell my if there is a solution for use of 3g dongle on TF101 with ICS as it was possible with Honeycomb?
I remember there was need to put huawei drivers to kernel (there was script for that) and 3g enabler prepared by Gnufabio (Revolver Dev).
As my newbe knowledge in linux based systems tells me - it propably will not be good to use the same script on ICS kernel which was written for Honeycomb kernel... or am i wrong?
Or maybe it worked for someone?
thanks very much for answer.
I've been having the same thought on my mind too; but apparently, to enable the 3G, one must flash the 3G bootloader to the Wifi pad. And bake new libs. And kill kittens. etc. I still have the e1750 dongle with customized firmware laying around (it also has custom VendorID, dammit), waiting patiently for a solution.
Ok, thanks very much, will wait for solution then also...
What was concerning, that gnufabio in revolver ics thread left the guide link to the HC dongle enable tutorial. That is why i raised my question

Hey,
Just wondering if anyone has or is working on a Nethunter Kernel for OP7 Pro.
Everything but the kernel with wifi adapter support is already in Magisk, so just the kernel is needed these days.
Damn, I guess it's not needed here.
Get source for one of the custom kernels that are already available . And then apply the net Hunter kernel patches and compile
https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter/wiki/Modifying-the-Kernel
Let us know that works out for you...
so one must use the source from a custom kernel and not the official? what is the reason for that?
was considering to try and build one but has never done it before, watching this video it doesn't look that hard
something else I should have thought about before trying to build one?
Did anybody get the nethunter kernel complied I get errors Everytime I do it ,hoping somebody else had better luck and would not mind sharing
