[Q] can you set the YouTube app to not be seen as a mobile device? - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

I didn't think it would make a difference using the YouTube app instead of the website but there are a few videos (funimation for example) that give an error saying not available for mobile... so like the switching the browser to desktop agent is there a way to get these nonmobile videos to play in the app?
Yes I could use the browser but the app is a better experiance.
Cheers

Video app only partially plays vids

Question: Hi there
the stock video app on my tab plays videos partially then stops and goes back to the video list. Is this a known bug and if it is does anyone know how to fix it? If i access videos via the file explorer it plays fine!
Also is there any way to play all videos continuously and randomly or a player that does this?
Thanks

Hmm. Playing the video partially is weird. What if you keep tapping the screen? will it finish playing?
If you click on the menu button, there is a option that says "Auto Play Next".
Hi there
the video stops suddenly so i am unable to tap the screen. It then returns to video app screen. The same video will play fully if accessed via the file explorer, that's the weird thing. This means i can not use the auto play next feature within the video app although the video app is what plays the video when opened via explorer.

Does this happen on all video's?
Hi there yes it does?

Have you tried any other video players just to see if it also happens outside of the stock player?
Yes, i jave tried numerous apps such as qq, zimly and mixzing and they all work fine. They just do not have what i need, which is the ability to arrange videos in various orders such as date or size as well as auto play next or random play. The stock player is perfect for this need. As above, if i open.the videos via the my files folder it uses the stock app to play the videos and the problem is gone. This would be fine but this way you lose the ability to auto play video. Its extremely frustrating! The video app seems to play about 2 mins of videos then audio goes slightly jerky and it stops and returns to app. Is there a way to re install the video app? Thanks

Reinstalling the video app would require Root. Have you done that or considered it?
By advised rooting does invalidate your warranty. Samsung issued a newsletter to all service centres advising them if they received any phones that had been rooted they were not to carry out repairs under warranty.
Anyway, has it happened all the time since owning the Tab or has it only started playing up recently?
If it has been playing up all the time it may be something to do with the codecs of the video where when you select direct from the player it picks up the problem but misses when you select the video using a third-party selector (My Files you mentioned).
If that is the case there is nothing you can do about it other than ensure your movie files don't have the same codecs.
If it has been playing up only recently it will be some form of corruption that has crept in.
The only way you are going to get around this is either root your Tab and reinstall the Player.app (providing you can get hold of one that is).... or carry out a Factory Reset that should clear the problem.
Hi thanks the advice. I will try a factory reset abd hopefully that will work as i do not want to root the device.

[Q] Android App to download Videos (not just You Tube)!!

Can anyone please let me know if there is any app to download videos from any site (not just You Tube)?
I want to download videos (generally flash videos) from any website.
I searched on net and market but there are apps that download videos from You Tube but not from any other site.
i dont think thats possible on galaxy 3.. until full flash support is up..
Thanks for the reply rudolf895 but I think flash is only needed to play the videos not to download them. And also, if there are apps that download videos from You Tube, then I dont think there is any problem in coding an app that will support any website (not just You Tube)?
The app should be that: The User just need to enter the url from which you want to download the video and app should do the rest.
Please let me know your thoughs on this.

Use "Save Video plugin for Internet Explorer". It allows you convert videos during downloading. Just select Convert>Devices>Droid before download videos.
Every app I've tried that says that you just share the link with the app, and then it will download the video, fails to do so. When the link is shared, the app then reports that there is no video in the link. I'm at a loss. I don't wanna download on my laptop and trans over to droid device, that defeats the purpose of using the droid device. If i wanted to use the laptop all the time i wouldn't have got a tablet.
Use bytetornado, it's working!
I found this:
http://www.appszoom.com/android_applications/media_and_video/web-video-downloader_blftq.html
It's not free. But it does work about 50% of the time...
I'm sorry. I have to take back my last post. It turns out that web video downloader is no longer available on the play store. Meaning you'll have to get it elsewhere. And even then it still has a very low success rate. I'm currently trying to download and it keeps crashing. I'm disgusted. Why isn't there an android app similar to internet download manager for windows? Something that captures streaming video?
there are 2 that I have found

Not sure if you are still looking but there are 2 apps that I have found. One is dowloadr...not great and crashes a fair bit but could be the user not the program! the best one imo is video catcher....there is a free demo version with almost full capability or for a dollar you can upgrade and download many vids simultaniosly... basically with videocatcher if you can play it on your screen it can download it.... both in the store

firefox for android will do the work for you..
just add the flash video downloader add-on..

No app worked.
I used opera and adm download manager.
In opera, type about:cache and search for the right file by clicking on preview.
A dialogue box will allow you to open the link with adm.
Start the download with adm.
I had to search a bit for the video file because there are sometimes no extensions and you don't know which site is really hosting the video.
You may consider deleting previous caches in settings to avoid this problem.

Try TubeMate for YouTube videos.......It's against google policy to download videos and hence this app is no longer available on the market...

Dude if you really have the video URL you can download it in any browser. The content you're after is typically one of several components of a web page; the URL you have is either for the surrounding web page, or perhaps for the swf player (the active element that chromes your video stream and provides limited interactivity with the Flash server).
What you actually need is an app to parse the obfuscated video URL from the page source--and to perform authentication if the video is hosted on an RTMP server. In other words, a YouTube downloader extension is not as easily repurposed as you imagine.
For the (GUI-dependent) majority, just using a downloader that can perform RTMP handshaking is non-trivial. That said, RTMPDump binaries have been compiled for Android--give it a try and let us know how it works out.

they actually are hosted through youtube and i dont believe they have subtitles, sorry, also due to drm and licencing the video player doesnt install on rooted phones, if you have root you will need to unroot or use the web market to view the movies. on a computer you can log into gmail and enter http://market.android.com/movies. on the phone they can be played in the web browser by first changing the useragent string to desktop mode by going into the adress bar and typing about:useragent and go to that adress. make sure it doesnt try to run a search. a popup will come up with a list of useragent options, tick the one labeled desktop and then go to http://market.android.com/movies you may need to log into gmail for this as well.
Has anyone watched a movie on here? I'm wondering if we can use our hdmi-out.

ohk...on whatismyflash.com it is showing "Installed Flash Player: None(or disabled)
and i am using the factory ROM...i did not installed any other ROM ever before also. whenever i open the video page on youtube or dailymotion, it shows a BIG white play button, i click on it and it goes full screen, it loads and the video runs on the basic mobile player. I used to see the BIG WHITE play button before also but couldn't run the video at that time. But now its working!!! I used opera at that time and now still using the same version(automatic updates are disabled ) And of course, i always use the desktop agent to view websites and not the mobile version of websites. Phew...any more gusses?????????????
ok now its clear.if video plays in basic mobile player then you dont have any flash player install and neither you can play flash stuff.the basic use of flash player is to play the video itself on the website screen rather than by mobile player.
and ques about opera not playing that before could be because of an update by them as before we could only download the video by clicking on it.[this functionaly to play flash video in mobile player is common in browsers like dolphine]

flash means "swf files"
all other files can be run by the stock browser using the different available android services.

anyone have the "Flash Video Browser" .apk??

hi,
I am trying to view hulu.com website and watch the free streaming media. I dont want the hulu plus stuff.
as i understand it.. "Flash Video Browser" can make it work.. by fooling the service that i am on a PC.
but this app is no longer on the market.
does anyone still have this apk? does it still work?
Just use any web browser that supports flash and has a desktop agent like Firefox or Naked browser. But I doubt if we can watch videos on Hulu.com for free.

I bought flash video browser when I rooted my nook tablet. It still works for free shows on Hulu. I don't know where to get the apk though. When the blank while screen pops up I press the back Burton and it plays the show I chose.
