Emulators being brought off market? - General Questions and Answers

Hi!
What i want is emulators for snes, nes, n64 and psone. There has been several of these on android market, but because they breach a licence agreement by earning cash on the emulators, they are taken off. This happens with -oid emulators and with tiger emulators.
Anyone have any working emulators? Why can't they be on market for free? I feel scammed having payed for several of tbe -oid programs, but now I am unable to get them any more how was I supposed to know about the licence when I bought these apps?

No, it wasn't because they were making money off of them. I'm not sure where people get this idea that app makers should never ask for money when they've provided sought-after services. PSX4droid has been made free since being pulled from the Market, and it's still not allowed back on there. It's more likely to have been pulled because of legal concerns by allowing emulators to be sold there. It's not illegal, no, but it's sketchy and makes the Market look less friendly to video game software and (in the case of Sony) hardware developers. Companies are going to be more inclined to develop ports to Android if there aren't emulators raining on their parade.
And I'm not sure, but aren't requests for emulators against the rules here? I know roms are, but not entirely certain about the emulators.

The N64 emulator works great ... especially with the Wii Remote app !
Some of the old games played with a Wii Remote and HDMId out to a 46 inch LCD ... retro heaven

some of these emulators had been there since the beginning.
It's a lame move to remove them.
especially if they are not linking you to illegal content.

I agree that illegal software should be removed, but i cant see how emulator for outdated patents is illegal.
And @thracia yes, it was because they were making money off it. They didnt create the programs themselves, they just stole free software, and made money off it. The creators of the software rightfully asked for it to be removed.

They can be, check out Snes9x EX in the official android market.
The developers of the other emulators you mentioned are greedy and stole open source code. They violated GPL by not giving credit to the sources.
Look at console emulators for windows, linux, etc. Not one is sold as a commercial product.

thanks for the help!

I don't think emulators hurt anyone but Sony considering they have a PS phone out there.

Mixy, the developer for the -oid emulators has put them up for free on SlideME, and alternate market, specially to provide updates for the people who paid for them in the first place. I know it's not as convenient, but it's the best he can do, I believe.

Does anyone know a TRUSTWORTHY site where you can get the free tiger emulators (like tiger (gba|gbc|snes))

I have seen some free emulators on the internet...

Be careful when purchasing from Gameloft, save your .apk files. If you decide to install another rom or change phones in the future, they do not allow you to download the file again without having to purchase it again.

True definitely save the Apk.
from the Gameloft website
I deleted my game, can I download it again?
Gameloft's policy is that if you buy a game, you can re-download it on the same device with the same phone number within the 90 days of your purchase. To re-download your game, go to http://gameloft.com on your mobile and click on the 'My Downloads' link at the bottom of the page. You will see the list of all the games you purchased so far that you can re-download. If you purchased your game on our website on your pc using your credit card, enter the 'My Account' section at the top of this page and re-download your game(s) after signing in.
Keep in mind you will be charged for any data fees your carrier may charge for downloading your games.

Since this is already a thready about gaming.. Other than Emulators does anyone know of any games that support keyboard commands or bluetooth game controllers?
I figure at least with keyboard commands you could map it to the controller.
it would be great to to just need a micro HDMI and bluetooth controller to play games on any TV with an HDMI input.
I'm waiting for the datel Wii retro wireless controller to show up in the mail. Its cheap, has bluetooth built in so I wont need a nunchuck, & used the BlueputDroid app.

That is not true. I bought Nova and Gangstar back when the EVO came out last year and I just re-downloaded both of those games from gameloft's site. When it asks you what device you're using you just need to select whatever device you purchased it on at the time. Also saving your apk won't do you much good because when I tried installing my saved apk on my G2X, when it got to the in-game download it would not allow it. I had to re-download the apk from their site. SN: re-downloading Nova worked whereas re-downloading Gangstar worked, but the game didn't run correctly (had a lot of white squares everywhere).

Yes they are, free of charge.
I happily paid for these when they were in the Android market though. I'm glad that others can enjoy them too though.
This is not piracy. The guy was selling gpl code without giving proper credit.
It was announced that they will be available for free from SlideMe for a limited time only. If you want the apps, go through SlideMe. Posting them here is piracy.
As for the legitimacy of whether he stole code or not, is not the issue here.
sharing free apps isn't piracy. If he was posting them here and they weren't free then it would be piracy
since the dev posted these on slideME for free that technically wouldnt make them warez...the issue is is that google/other companies personally took them down from the Market, so XDA might be in trouble by hosting them. idk though
Well until this all gets resolved one way or another, I'll just download these suckers and play around with them a bit.
For those that are worried about it so much, report this to a moderator and let them decide what to do. Going back and forward about it here in this thread isn't going to do nothing but waste your time and bump up the thread even more..............just my 2 cents!
N64oid costs 30 cents on the dev page. Technically that should be the only problem here. I would have just posted a link to his page instead of a zip.
Edit: Looks like he changed the price, now N64oid is free too! Here's a link to the dev page for anyone looking for it. SlideME | Android Community And Application Marketplace

Yongzh doesn't own the code. So downloading it is not piracy.
Buying these apps is piracy.
If it's under GPL license, then he CAN charge you for binary code, BUT he has to provide the source code on request of the buyer, and the buyer then can share the code and binaries to whomever and whenever he chooses, and the next people who get through the buyer are free to distribute it however much they please.
Regardless of whether or not these apps are available on the SlideMe market for free or not, they are still paid apps on the Android Market and are not yours to distribute freely. Posting them here is warez and will be treated as such regardless of whether or not you can find them somewhere else for free.

Hell ANYONE running a Rooted Play could put it up ASLONG as they dont need login or have a licence file.. because then people will be trying to hack that to be free too!
There ARE free launchers of MC out there anyhow.. So maybe someone will make an aftermarket launcher thats free based off the paid one? just as with Windows?
I run it on Linux normally (On teh Toshiba laptop) and Windows from USBstick normally (With "PocketLauncher" etc)
Im guessing they will charge you to buy the app unlike the PC business model where you just buy a premium account.
I wouldnt be too happy about paying for the game again. If its just classic mode without multiplayer then I will give it a pass. if it does have multiplayer then I may change my mind
Guys, if you want more good games on the Play, pirating the biggest game to come to it isn't going to help. Just means we'll get less games that will support it. Just put down a few bucks and show your support.
As far as I know, the game will evolve just like the PC version had over the years.

I don't see how XBL would be related to a game getting Xperia Play controls.
Sounds like they already laid out the plan for this game and are done with it, much like that Captain America game I would not expect it to be XP optimized anytime soon.

Why has an xbox game, got anything to do with this half assed port, and their money making scheme..in app billing, for that..it should have been the full game, for a couple of quid, from the off.
in app billing + dodgy controls + ads in paid game + episodic = failure, In my book.

Buy the game, buy the episodes, click on the ads, support the developer.
Android game development is still kind of fragile at this point. Great games rarely get over 10k downloads, Amazing games rarely get over 100k downloads.
Just spend the dollar and consider it a donation to the developer to continue working on the game.

With the way this game is looking I doubt they'll add support (hope I'm wrong). With ads in the paid app and a crappy port I'm betting they're just making as much money as they can till people figure out it's a waste of money.

Your comment was "they wont add xperia play controls because the game is episodic" like thats a bad thing or what **** devs do, my point was episodic games are everywhere even in main stream gamimg. I wouldnt know if the game has ads because like anyone else with a brain cell i'm using ad free to hide them. But FYI even some of the top paid apps on the market like 360 live pro have ads too. Does that make there dev dodgy too???
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
I wouldn't use 360 live pro, not after paying, and having ad filled stuff in my face..
I just don't agree with that.
Free users, yeah, slap an ad or two, but not for paid for software.
I tried this game it dont use the play buttons so unistalled it.

That's not how it works. This is not published as an alpha program which will be updated in the future and for which donations would be welcome. This is a full fledged program which is being sold with certain commercial practises. Sticking ads in a paid product, not adding Xperia Play controller support and in app Billing in such a short game are not good practises, and buying the game implies supporting them.
Voting with our wallet means not paying for crud. If we buy it, more crud will come because companies will understand that that's what we want. Consumer feedback is all good and nice, but the bottom line is what companies and developers are ultimately attentive to.
This is important because if that function, called price mechanism, doesn't coordinate companies and consumers properly, problems are bound to appear... As they actually are doing, and I don't mean the video game industry alone.
****ty controls, uninstalled.
The game doesn't even appear on my xperia play market, but it appears on the market on my g2 phone. also, is there an official version of duke nukem 3d coming out? cause this isn't made by the actual company.

Your so naive, do you not think this happens in main stream gaming? When you play burnout and see lynx adverts on the roadside, do you not think lynx are paying to advertise there? Or when you play PES/Fifa and see adverts all around the pitch? Tiger woods 10 even had pop up ads

There is a bit of a difference to "Billboard" advertising in games that adds "Authenticity" to the surroundings i.e. Fifa and the sideline banners and the "distracting-take-up-10%-of-your-screen-real-estate-mobile-ads”.
The first example I except, the second only if I haven’t paid for the app.
On another note, I always preferred Quake to Duke Nukem, so my recent purchase of Zeus Arena will keep me content FPS wise until Modern Combat 3 comes to android.

Good games cracked to work with A2

I was wondering if you guys have been able to find any good games cracked to work with the Atrix 2? Like in the market and stuff and even Gameloft, there are very few games that are compatible. Have you guys found any good games like good 3d games that work (like nova 2 but i already have that).
We don't support the use of cracked software here on xda. Take your illegal activities elsewhere.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
Frankly, if you have every intention of buying the full version with update support, etc... once it's available for our phone, I don't see the issue.
That said, I'm unaware of games cracked to be supported for us. Game devs kinda suck a bit really, we still don't have either NFS game working...
oh wow didn't know that people will look for cracked games this is an android phone not iphone ^_^v you can find a lot of free games that will kill time. My favorites are samurai, destinia and drag racing.
I understand you're asking for games cracked to work on your device, not specifically "cracked" to avoid paying for them, but I'm afraid we can't allow anyone to discuss or post links to any kind of cracked software.
