I thought they were available for free from the SlideME market?

Yes they are, free of charge.
I happily paid for these when they were in the Android market though. I'm glad that others can enjoy them too though.

This is not piracy. The guy was selling gpl code without giving proper credit.

It was announced that they will be available for free from SlideMe for a limited time only. If you want the apps, go through SlideMe. Posting them here is piracy.
As for the legitimacy of whether he stole code or not, is not the issue here.

sharing free apps isn't piracy. If he was posting them here and they weren't free then it would be piracy

since the dev posted these on slideME for free that technically wouldnt make them warez...the issue is is that google/other companies personally took them down from the Market, so XDA might be in trouble by hosting them. idk though

Well until this all gets resolved one way or another, I'll just download these suckers and play around with them a bit.
For those that are worried about it so much, report this to a moderator and let them decide what to do. Going back and forward about it here in this thread isn't going to do nothing but waste your time and bump up the thread even more..............just my 2 cents!

N64oid costs 30 cents on the dev page. Technically that should be the only problem here. I would have just posted a link to his page instead of a zip.
Edit: Looks like he changed the price, now N64oid is free too! Here's a link to the dev page for anyone looking for it. SlideME | Android Community And Application Marketplace

Yongzh doesn't own the code. So downloading it is not piracy.
Buying these apps is piracy.

If it's under GPL license, then he CAN charge you for binary code, BUT he has to provide the source code on request of the buyer, and the buyer then can share the code and binaries to whomever and whenever he chooses, and the next people who get through the buyer are free to distribute it however much they please.

Regardless of whether or not these apps are available on the SlideMe market for free or not, they are still paid apps on the Android Market and are not yours to distribute freely. Posting them here is warez and will be treated as such regardless of whether or not you can find them somewhere else for free.

Nba mobile hack

Ok guys it has officially came out, the new NBA League Pass. Unfortunatley it is 44.99 (early bird special) and its bot on the marker direct, you have to obtaib it through the NBA game time app. I was wondering if anyone could give me direction in how i could crack this app if i obtain an apk. Or if someone could crack that would be great to. I know someone that is going to purchase is so hopefully we can get it going. Thanks everyone

I'm definitely interested as well. I did notice that if you download the Game Time app and then select buy, it will redirect you to the market place where you can then get an application called "NBA League Pass Mobile" for $45. it is v. 1.0
Yeah i just searched market and it is there. Well now we need an apk
Sent from my bullet proof phone
this would be awesome if someone did crack this apk. hopefully they will soon since the season just started yesterday.
Ok well we need to recruit some people from the NFL mobile thread

Aptoide and forks banned from the Market

Hi guys...
Yesterday Aptoide and forks (ApkTor, F-Droid,...) were banned from the market without further explanation.
Aptoide is in the market for more than one year.
It seems the growing momentum of Bazaar (bazaar.aptoide.org) triggered Google's decision.
There is an interesting thread going on on the Android forum:
google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=1287303ed883043f&hl=en
Some people defend that is being used to warez.
Some state that an open definition of apks repository and a GPLv2 client is important when a growing number of non-compatible proprietary app stores (Samsung, Acer,...) are showing up.
Have a nice 2011.
It was full of warez. Good riddance.

Dungeon Defenders is FREE!

Hey guys! Just want to say that Dungeon Defenders is now free on the market! No idea if this is permanent or just today, so grap your copy now!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.trendy.ddapp&feature=search_result
I believe it is free now because Google launched their in-app payment model, and they developer will be charging real world cash to acquire in-game items.

Oh i see! LIKE!
What does this mean for the persons that paid for this app? Are we subject to having to pay for everything now to?
The only difference is that you paid for it and we don't. Everyone can use the in-app purchase.
They made it free so that more people will play it. It's a strategy for the console/pc version which is soon to be released.

Damn I paid for it. Hopefully we get more players now.
Any dates for console version?
"Dungeon Defenders” has never had an official release date for its PC, XBLA and PSN versions, though a Q1 release was Trendy’s initial goal. The game is now looking at a March or April release date for the XBLA and PSN versions, with the PC version releasing sometime later."
Hopefully the people that paided for it get something nice in-game
ARE YOU KIDDING ME
i bought this and now its all free.
and the people who paid for it get nothing.
BULL****.
I hope their PC/Console games fail.
I bought it but hardly played it, it's just too damn complex for a portable game.
I'm not real impressed about being nickle & dimed for it after buying it at full price, I won't be purchasing anything further from this developer that's for sure. If they'd given paying users SOME sort of acknowledgement then it'd be different, but that's just insulting the people that've supported them.
I guess they figure the microtransaction model works for Zynga, so why not them as well.
Didn't you people get tons of free items every-so-often already, delivered to you?
Geez, it's not like the developer is asking you to pay a monthly fee; they only made the apk free of charge. The new players who now download the free apk will never be able to get the free items you all got. And if you don't feel like spending any more cash on the game, then don't buy anything using the in-app purchasing mechanism.
Sheesh...
maybe you guys don't know how to play the game so you all are complaining that it should have been free. it's pretty cheap for a game like this!

Plants vs Zombies free at Amazon Appstore today only

Title says it all. Wifi download only. I know this isn't a general topics but i would really appreciate it if the mods left this in the general section for today only. I really would hate for someone to miss out for not looking in the theme and app section.

Can a nice US citizen post the game for the rest of the forgoten world? That would make us a little less mad at amazon for not working anywhere else.
74 MB though? Really? Thank God for App to SD.
al3xxx92, PM me. It's only free today from Amazon, so posting the game would be considered warez.

The daily free apps that get downloaded from the Amazon appstore will only work if you are logged into the Amazon appstore app on your phone. If the app doesn't work on you phone because you're outside of the US, I don't think you'd be able to get one of their free apps to work. Sorry, man. :'(
I think it's funny it says it is too big to download over a cellular network, with 4gLTE, nothing is too big.
(that's what she said)
The wifi restriction stinks. Will have to wait until I get home to download.
Saw this one droid-life this morning and got it, great game. I've been playing for around an hour but it's almost time to go to work...
Downloaded it. Glad it finally game to Android, it's an awesome game.
My install of CM7 doesn't have wifi working, so I "bought it" but haven't downloaded it yet.
I am on a fascinate which in theory should be able to run this game but every time I open it just black screens and sends me back to the home screen

Emulators being brought off market?

Hi!
What i want is emulators for snes, nes, n64 and psone. There has been several of these on android market, but because they breach a licence agreement by earning cash on the emulators, they are taken off. This happens with -oid emulators and with tiger emulators.
Anyone have any working emulators? Why can't they be on market for free? I feel scammed having payed for several of tbe -oid programs, but now I am unable to get them any more how was I supposed to know about the licence when I bought these apps?

No, it wasn't because they were making money off of them. I'm not sure where people get this idea that app makers should never ask for money when they've provided sought-after services. PSX4droid has been made free since being pulled from the Market, and it's still not allowed back on there. It's more likely to have been pulled because of legal concerns by allowing emulators to be sold there. It's not illegal, no, but it's sketchy and makes the Market look less friendly to video game software and (in the case of Sony) hardware developers. Companies are going to be more inclined to develop ports to Android if there aren't emulators raining on their parade.
And I'm not sure, but aren't requests for emulators against the rules here? I know roms are, but not entirely certain about the emulators.
The N64 emulator works great ... especially with the Wii Remote app !
Some of the old games played with a Wii Remote and HDMId out to a 46 inch LCD ... retro heaven
some of these emulators had been there since the beginning.
It's a lame move to remove them.
especially if they are not linking you to illegal content.
I agree that illegal software should be removed, but i cant see how emulator for outdated patents is illegal.
And @thracia yes, it was because they were making money off it. They didnt create the programs themselves, they just stole free software, and made money off it. The creators of the software rightfully asked for it to be removed.

They can be, check out Snes9x EX in the official android market.
The developers of the other emulators you mentioned are greedy and stole open source code. They violated GPL by not giving credit to the sources.
Look at console emulators for windows, linux, etc. Not one is sold as a commercial product.
thanks for the help!
I don't think emulators hurt anyone but Sony considering they have a PS phone out there.

Mixy, the developer for the -oid emulators has put them up for free on SlideME, and alternate market, specially to provide updates for the people who paid for them in the first place. I know it's not as convenient, but it's the best he can do, I believe.
Does anyone know a TRUSTWORTHY site where you can get the free tiger emulators (like tiger (gba|gbc|snes))
I have seen some free emulators on the internet...
