[Q] Unlocking Sharp Lynx SH-10B - General Questions and Answers

I just bought one of these for my friend back in the UK and was wondering if there is any way to unlock it for use on UK networks?
I have heard of 'hypersims' but after searching for 2 hours I came up with nothing...
Would it help if I rooted it?

I can not help you, but I can help you put it to the top...

Finding a HyperSIM shouldn't be a problem. There's loads on Ebay and for DoCoMo phones, almost any will work. There's a Mr.SIM on my GF's SH-01B and a Inex Hypersim on my 904SH (SoftBank).
I don't think the Lynx can be rooted. All Japanese phones are locked down for root. There are several threads here discussing rooting options for other DoCoMo and AU KDDI Androids but not much progress to report.
The Lynx SH-10B is a beautiful handheld with a great QWERTY keyboard but sadly DoCoMo announced that they are not planning to issue an upgrade for the obsolete Android 1.6 it is running.

sounds like good news

I have the Lynx SH-10b and if I can get this hypersim for it that would be great. I just need it for data only, 3g, 4g or whatever for when I'm away from wifi.

Dual-Sim SmartPhones - Can it be done on Android?

Hi all,
I currently own a Blackstone and its been pretty good to me over the past year or so. However I have two numbers and I have to carry two phones around with me. I have been looking into dual sim for a couple of days now and all i can seem to find is either dodgy Chinese copies or really old Samsungs.
In the USA a company called General Mobile have made an android phone with dual sim the kernel for it is below:
http://www.generalmobile.com/index.a...evelopercenter
Do you think there are guys out there who would be able to get this to work on a HTC Hero, for instance, with a dual sim adaptor? Or does the phone have to have two antennae?
Are any of you guys aware of any dual sim smartphones coming out?
Thanks for your help, Serg

[Q] Hero 9300 + in the United Kingdon

Hi everyone at XDa and members
I have recently purchased a Hero 9300 + From android for cheap to use in the uk.
Well the phone has arrived and ive used it for two days and i have to say its better than i expected, even exceeded my expectations.
I am using a orange and giff gaf sim, however when i topped up my Orange sim whenever i make a call it comes up with roaming .... I am assuming its because the phone is chinese and im in the uk ..... My question is .... Is there a way around this as i have no idea about rooting and would rather not have to use an international sim just so i can use my phone in the uk.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Also im new to XDA so thanks in advance.

[Q] Would this phone work unlocked in Canada?

hi
I love the look of this phone...I currently have the Sony Xperia Pro and this phone is a step up, memory and processor wise....
However I am nervous that if I buy one on ebay that maybe it will be incompatible with Rogers, just wondering if any clever OR knowledgeable soul with first hand experience would know if this will work on the Rogers network in Canada?
Any replies will be very much appreciated thank you
No problem at all, you can completely unlock your future phone using this. Worked for me in Germany.
I'm using one in Canada on the Wind network. It's working great.

[Q] Can a Huawei Ascend P6 or P7 be simlocked?

So I am on this great trip through Asia (currently in Nepal, for the curious), but unfortunately my HTC phone got wet and stopped serving me. So soon I will be going to Bangkok, and I was considering getting myself a phone there. My question is whether phones in Thailand, and especially the Huawei Ascend brand, come with a simlock? I also wonder the same for the Samsung Galaxy line. And if these phones are simlocked, are these locks easily removed? I know that Huawei delivers tools to root your phone easily, but does rooting also give me a simlock free phone?
Probably this question has been answered somewhere on this forum, but please excuse me for not searching thoroughly since Nepal has horrible internet connections and posting this question already requires tremendous efforts and time. So imagine what searching a forum would be like.

Galaxy Series have both sim locked and unlocked versions!!
the can be locked to orange, o2, version, or few like this..
i have tried unlocking s2 and s3 they were real easy to unlock..
if you want i could also make you a video tutorial for that.. just subscribe to my youtube channel (see my signature)
or you could simply buy an unlocked one ie international version of phone!!
Hope you enjoy your trip
Ok great, so Galaxy series would be a safe bet. Im not sure if I should trust the sometimes dodgy resellers in Bangkok though, that's why I also would like to know for sure for the Huawei series. I can't seem to find any reference of it on google though.

Docomo is Japanese variant (SO-53B). I also believe that SO-53B is network locked and also the bootloader cannot be unlocked either. I'm also not sure but it's possible that the hardware for the radio is slightly different too. Can't say for sure tho.

do you think that they don't perform as well as the other variants?

I think the hardware difference is down to the NFC setup as japan uses a few different forms of tap to pay. Not so much bad performance but you are stuck with the carrier supplied firmware and Japan carriers have a poor reputation for regular updates.
