Dual-Sim SmartPhones - Can it be done on Android? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi all,
I currently own a Blackstone and its been pretty good to me over the past year or so. However I have two numbers and I have to carry two phones around with me. I have been looking into dual sim for a couple of days now and all i can seem to find is either dodgy Chinese copies or really old Samsungs.
In the USA a company called General Mobile have made an android phone with dual sim the kernel for it is below:

Do you think there are guys out there who would be able to get this to work on a HTC Hero, for instance, with a dual sim adaptor? Or does the phone have to have two antennae?
Are any of you guys aware of any dual sim smartphones coming out?
Thanks for your help, Serg

Dual SIM (GSM/GSM) Windows Mobile

Hi All,
I have seen many posts in web about DUAL Sim (GSM/GSM) - China Mobiles.
When Searched I could see there are other Branded Windows Mobiles that support Dual Sim (GSM/GSM) at same time.
So is there any Dual Sim (GSM/GSM) Mobiles from HTC yet? or HTC is planing to jump to market after some time?

I was just thinking if dual SIM can be installed in VOX and got several links of which I found the SIMORE interesting. Link below, Any practical experience from any user is appreciated. Finally whatever I have searched in net - all says the SIMs have to be cuut. Is there any way for using dual SIMs in Uncut mode in VOX.
Thanks.

Chances are less that HTC or Nokia or such companies will jump into dual sim wagon. Even Sony doesn't have a dual SIM phone. The basic reason is -
a) They are battery killer.
b) Its pretty useless, if you think seriousely, you can not use both sims calls simultaneousely - that is the other caller will get a engage tone.
c) If you look at the market, the only so called company to launch a dual sim phone is Samsung, but then Samsung phone's are notorious for their compatibility issues.
i think, Addicted2xda clearly pointed the issues with dual sim phones.
there is a Spice pocketpc2003 phone which supports dual sim, which i had seen at times of india direct to readers advertisement.
china phones
can we boot china phones with windows 6.1?
Actually you can buy a dual-sim Windows Mobile:

I have one and it's working perfectly.
Acer have bought Eten so they're about to sell the DX900 rebranded:

Well I think you are missing the point of Dual-Sim mobile phones - While I can agree with point a) (they clearly are battery killers), I have to disagree with others.
I actually think, they are pretty useful - as for what you mentioned - well, both sim cards are online at time and it's perfectly ok if the caller gets busy signal if you are calling using the other sim card isn't it? Or you are able to make two calls at once?
On the other hand, having two sim cars online, brings you the possibility to use two networks at time or two different tariffs - for example, many providers offer substantially cheaper calls within their networks, so this way you can call cheaply to much more friends. Other example might be that one provider might be offering well priced data plans, while the other offers free calls and text messages - with dual-sim phone, you can use them easily together in one phone...
All things considered, I think that there's great potential in dual-sim phones and it would be less than clever for manufacturers to overlook it...
I surely hope that some good, dual-sim, Windows Mobile phone would emerge soon, as it would be high in my list of potential replacements for my Vox (which is plagued with the annoying "Not available after GPRS/EDGE usage" problem)...

Very sorry to disagree, I think we have all seen a lot of pple juggling with a land phone and a mobile in office, you know - "Could you please hold on for a moment I will get back to you" and talking to the other phone, I think juggling with two phones is easier than putting one on hold (if that is possible, i have no idea) and switching back and forth between two calls. But then that is my idea. As far as Point 3 goes, I don't know about WM based devics, but all you have to do is search a little on the net for applications for Samsung's generic phones. This is unfortunately not the case with SE or Nokia handset .
Well, I just hope that my post didn't sound like "Hey, just my opinion is the right one" - I certainly didn't mean to say something like that...
I just wanted to give another view on dual-sim phones
There are like 2-3 WM phones from different manufacturers with dual-sim slots, but neither has hardware keyboard which is something I've grown used to

windows phones with dual sim

Hi guys
Does anyone know of any windows phone devices with dual sim? A google shows up the glofish dx900 but little more.
I am ideally looking for a phone that is 3g and supported on this forum if possible
Many thanks
Salv
As far as I know the Dx900 is the only 3G winmobile dual sim phone available. It's my phone right now, not developed inside her but there's a nice forum dedicated to it.

Rooting an 'unbranded' phone

I'm looking for a phone with a dual sim slot in it...looking on Ebay, I've seen some 'unbranded' phones that seem just as good as the phone I have (a Galaxy S2), but since they are 'no name', I'm not sure I could root it, since I have my S2 rooted at the moment.
I know a new phone probably won't be as good, but I rarely use the phone, since I use my tablet the most. I have tried a 'fixture' for dual sims in my S2, but they don't seem to work.
Can anyone inform me if any kind of phone can be rooted? If you need the actual brand name for it? Or if there are any good dual sim phones to recommend?
Thank you.
why not get a dual sim s2 then?

Sony 10 yrs old. Time for a change.

Hello
I am thinking of buying the S8 +.
My old phone is a Sony Xperia about 10 years old, so I am a little behind the technicalities!!
I am from the UK but working full time in Germany.
I am looking to get a phone from the UK and have it sent over.
I am assuming that it does not matter if the phone is bought in the UK and used over here.
Also, can I use the sim card which is in the Sony.
Last one: If I was to buy here can the language of the phone be changed to English.
Any advice much appreciated.

I can only answer one of your questions. I'm pretty sure you'll need a new sim card, the S8+ uses the Nano sim.
EU sim cards will be ok in a UK device.
Yes you will need a nano sim from your carrier.
Yes the language can be changed.
You'll be amazed compared to your 10 yr old phone!
That Sony a classic!?I sold my classic Motorola StarTac! ?
