Rooting an 'unbranded' phone - General Questions and Answers

I'm looking for a phone with a dual sim slot in it...looking on Ebay, I've seen some 'unbranded' phones that seem just as good as the phone I have (a Galaxy S2), but since they are 'no name', I'm not sure I could root it, since I have my S2 rooted at the moment.
I know a new phone probably won't be as good, but I rarely use the phone, since I use my tablet the most. I have tried a 'fixture' for dual sims in my S2, but they don't seem to work.
Can anyone inform me if any kind of phone can be rooted? If you need the actual brand name for it? Or if there are any good dual sim phones to recommend?
Thank you.

why not get a dual sim s2 then?

Dual-Sim SmartPhones - Can it be done on Android?

Hi all,
I currently own a Blackstone and its been pretty good to me over the past year or so. However I have two numbers and I have to carry two phones around with me. I have been looking into dual sim for a couple of days now and all i can seem to find is either dodgy Chinese copies or really old Samsungs.
In the USA a company called General Mobile have made an android phone with dual sim the kernel for it is below:

Do you think there are guys out there who would be able to get this to work on a HTC Hero, for instance, with a dual sim adaptor? Or does the phone have to have two antennae?
Are any of you guys aware of any dual sim smartphones coming out?
Thanks for your help, Serg

Use Galaxy tab sim in Skyrocket

Hi all!
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G on AT&T and Ive been considering getting an SII Skyrocket unactivated from a friend. What I'd like to do is use the sim from the Galaxy Tab from time to time to use it to access websites etc while Im out of the house without having to bring my tablet. Does anyone know if this would work?

Should may find your answer here.
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.
Thanks for the link but what I see there is instructions on how to root the Galaxy which I don't mind doing.
I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be the Skyrocket, but really what I want is to be able to use a tablet sim card on an Android handset. What I would like to do is simply use the handset with the tablet sim so that I can be on a data-only tablet plan.

Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900 or SM-G900FD?

Hi everyone!
I've been thinking about buying the galaxy S5 for a while now.
I have finally decided to get one, more specifically the dual sim version.
Do you guys know if there is any known issue with the dual sim (SM-G900FD)?
For example, do you think that newer software versions will take longer to be released for the dual sim than the single sim?
Also, it looks like rooting the SM-G900FD is the same than rooting the SM-G900, is that right?
What about cynogen? Does it work?
Thank you for your help

S7 Edge Retail model no cell bands?

Hello all, does anyone know about the retail demo models of the S7 Edge? I am selling a apple watch on craigslist and someone offered me a S7 edge with no cell bands..
Here is his email.. "I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge gold retail X model. It works fine the only thing is it won't work as a phone no cell bands in the phone. So basically a android tablet in phone form. "
Just wondering if that is legit and is there a way to get it to work as a phone with a normal sim card>? Or is this person pulling my leg
Thanks
this is a test phone probably.... thats why it doesnt have any band cell so u probably wont be able to even put sim card in to....u can use this device like a mp3 player or ipod.... thats about it afaik.
IIRC someone here managed to flash a stock ROM to a demo unit and it worked as a normal phone afterwards
