Another Caméra Problem - Milestone XT720 General

Hi, I haver another camera problem with dexter rom, when I take 3 picture phone reboot after the third.
Does someone have that?
Sent from my XT720

Hmm my phone used to randomnly reboot during memory intensive tasks e.g taking pictures and that was because I had set my milestone overclock at 1 Ghz and low vsel around 56. Try using stock presets in motorola overclock. 1 Ghz and 74 vsel. It will solve your problem.

Si, it looks to be vsel problem, i am at [email protected] i will test to solve.

Too low a vsel and you'll get random reboots. Everyone's is going to be different depending on what you use your phone for. Mine is at 1100/74 and that works for me keeping temp down, no reboots and reasonable battery drain. Have seen 1200/80, 1000/66,...but it just comes down to what you are using your phone for. You get a random reboot, up the vsel. I would go in intervals of 5.

Downclock with screen off

The problem is, no matter what program I use, if I set the Tab to downclock at 100/200 or even 100/400 when the screen is off, the phone will freeze in sleep and force me to reset the tablet pressing the power buttornfor 7 seconds.
Anybody else have this issue?

do you use SerCPU?
I set is 100/400, it sometimes work but my phone was getting random reboot.
So I disabled it...

same issue with me , if I set the cpu to 100 to 300 it would hang or crash coming out of sleep mode . I ended up removing setcpu and going back to stock . i expect the Cooked roms will resolve this later on .
Probably kernel related. If i select the Set On Boot option, after a reboot both min/max freqs will change to a min of 19 and max of 500. Probably best to leave it until we have devs working on it.

there's really no need to underclock when the screens off, you know that right?

Get an app to graph the cpu use, and you will see the cpu spike when sleeping.
So, in short, yes: downclocking with the screen off really help the battery life

It doesn't make much difference as the cpu scaling does a more than adequate job, but whatever wets your whistle

should I use f4 phantom or f15c eagle?

To overclock. Which one iis better?

Ok. I don't know if it was the kernel or what but f4 phantom bricked my touchpad. The screen was blue and I couldn't restart it. It scared me so bad. But it just now began working again and the first thing I did was remove f4.

Haven't had issues with F4, actually runs both cores full time which is an advantage compared to Warthog. I've never gotten F15 to work correctly.
Running f15 at 1.8 no issues at all..

isn't that going to eat up your battery?
Not really because it's on demand. At idle both cores run at 400MHz.

Warthog idles core 1 at 292 or so and cuts off core 2 until needed. I originally used F15c Eagle to OC and recently switched to Wathog to try it out. Both Oc'd to 1.728Ghz. I have never gotten either of them to activate core 2, even with polling set to 1 sec.

polling frequency is not too important. just have to do something like watch a hd video. then go back and check. the number will be back down again. but what u have to do is to click on the graph, and u'll see it peaks to 1.7 when needed.
i've used f15c, and it froze a few times. been using Warthog for a day now, so far no freeze.
havent tried F4 yet. i'm happy with the performance and stability now, so i might not change it unless there's a big difference.
Use f15c ... it works awesome , if you dont see the second core do anything is because the second core is not being used! you can test it openning lets say 3 youtube videos at the same time then go to govnah and you will see second core working! after you install the kernel if second core says n/a just unnistall the kernel reboot and try phantom after you install restar again.. I guess using phantom running both cores at the same time will drecrease battery a little bit.
had problems getting f15 to oc above 1.5, would give me errors if I tried to up it. Switched to warthog and my TP has been 100%. I'm very happy with it. I have not tried F4.

I tried f4 but I believe since both cores run at full speed all the time battery will decrease faster not sure how much faster , I have tried movies, games, 4 youtube videos at the same time some of multitasking and with 1.7 is more than enough everything runs perfect with f15 .. I would say you are covered with warthog
Here's a test showing that F4 performs the best out of any of the kernels.

The only way both cores are at full speed all the time is if you set the governor to performance. I believe it defaults to on demand so it should only only use higher frequencies when necessary.
I prefer F4 Phantom at the moment.
used F4 at 1.8 for few hours now and it works smooth. Difference between F15c and F4 is quite noticeable .
I have updated from uberkernel to f4 @ 1.72 , seems very stable.
Battery life on the f4 kernal is amazing even with performance mode on. I can get about a day and a half with consistant usage (I mainly use it as a pdf viewer for my textbooks, sprinkled in with heavy web usage here and there when I zone out). I can only imagine the battery life with eagle and warthog if I stuck with it longer... 6000mAh battery ftw.

give it a few charge cycles. often the battery stats are just screwed up after a new rom. If it is still bad in a few days, then something may be wrong.

Okay, so I've been running Lithium v1.3 for several weeks now, and even with an added overclock and other tweaks, I still have pretty darn good battery life with moderate to heavy usage. I can get a full day's charge running at 1.25 GHz and emailing/texting/calling/gaming throughout the day. Just updating concerns from the OP with my own experiences while running this awesome rom! :good:

no extended battery for me, i just bought the phone a week back. no extra accessories.. just stock ROM, stock phone and stock charger/battery.
the game i played for 2-2,5hrs was stick cricket, then i played Extreme Skating and Pro Zombie Soccer for 30 min. Today i played Sims 3 for an hour and that took 10% of my battery. I switched on Mobile Hotspot in my phone and used its GPRS on my laptop(tethered) for an hour, that also took 9-10%.
btw, my prev phone was an LG OP1 . Let me know if you want me to check anything else.

We use tekahuna's milestone overclock modules for overclocking.
Changing the cpu speed involves echoing the desired table entry into the /proc/overclock/mpu_opps entry as root.
ie:
Code:
echo 3 1250000000 1375000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
3 would be cpu slot 3 (3 is the highest on the atrix 2 typically set to 1ghz)
1250000000 is the desired frequency in hertz (1250 with six more zeroes at the end)
and 1375000 is the desired voltage in microvolts (1.375v). Tekahuna has said that 1.4v is the highest that these modules can push this. In my experience, that's not enough extra voltage to make a big difference in max overclock speed.
I recommend extensive testing of an overclock before you alter the init scripts to match. (well if you're using a rom with init built in)
Init.d support can be added to any rom by flashing this

As answersamir stated, it realty depends on the phone. I've clocked as high as 1.3GHz stably but don't really need that high of a clock speed, so I scaled back to 1.25GHz with underclock at 240MHz at echo 0. You'll just have to experiment without the echo 3 settings in the init.d folder making slow (100MHz) incremental jumps to see where your phone can run stable before random reboots or freezing occurs... after changing settings, reboot each time, and run for a while at the new clock speed to test.

use Battery Monitor Widget, charge the phone till you see 100% in that app, A2 shows charge in multiples of 10, so 100% in A2 battery means it reached 95%. Via the BMW app, you can add a widget to your homescreen in counts of 1% so you will see real battery %. Also it will show mAh, so when you charge untill it reaches 100% or 1740/1740mAh then only stop charging. You can see battery graphs and all that.
Hope yours is set to Settings->Battery $ data manager ->Battery mode -> Night-tiime saver

Here's a simple step-by-step for overclocking:
Open Root Explorer or download HERE
Navigate to: system>etc>init.d then select the Oc3 with Text Editor
Find the echo 3 value that reads: echo 3 1125000000 61 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
Then, using the text editor in Root Explorer, change the echo 3 value from 1125000000 to *up to 1200000000 or even higher. (see note below!)
Hit the "back button" and Root Explorer will ask you to save changes. Confirm the changes, and reboot.
After rebooting, open SetCPU and you will see your changes there.
*You can experiment with your clock speed, and a good rule of thumb is to bump up slowly, rather than making large jumps all at once. Start by going from 1125 to 1150 and reboot. Then, if all is well and you've ran at this higher clock speed for a good 5 to 10 minutes, do the above listed process again and go from 1150 to 1175, and so on until you reach your highest stable overclock speed.

You can also underclock in the same way, by changing the echo 0 values. I set mine to underclock to 240MHz at echo 0. Also, using SetCPU you can change the CPU mode (which, you probably already know) from mot_hotplug to performance to ondemand, etc. Experimenting with these settings can either improve or decrease your battery life with the new overclocked speed.
Also, check out THIS THREAD post by rdavisct that gives further explanation to the topic.

[Q] HTC Sensation XE Heating problems?

Kind of a noob here but I got my HTC Sensation XE back from repair not more than a week they did a software update and I'm on the stock ICS ROM with HTC Sense 3.6 I think 3.33, anyway, using it for 10-15 minutes by just browsing through the homescreen or settings makes my phone warm up like crazy, to around 52 degrees celsius it's not yet uncomfortable whilst holding but very annoying. When I play for example Lazors for 10 minutes it heats up to 65 degrees celcius. Is there a ICS build I can use to lower the temperature, or should I undervolt and underclock my phone, and how do I go about doing that, or very drastically, send it back to HTC since it's still under warranty? Also tried CM10.1 build by Albinoman1987 and the phone heats up just as fast as on the stock ROM so I think it's a hardware fault. Any help on solving this would be appreciated. Just for clarification, the part where the SIM and SD card are located gets this hot NOT the battery.

Well, it sounds like a hardware problem, but I can't really tell you which part is the problem. I'm thinking that the CPU is overheating, and that my suggestion is to try different kernels, and to compare which keeps the CPU the coolest.
You can also install CPU tuner to view the temperature of the CPU and battery.

Yeah I had them both run at the same frequency by enabling Force All CPU's online -> On boot completed. However this will last for a few seconds and then the 2nd core goes offline again.

Since you're using the exact same thing could you do me a favor? Install System Tuner pro on your device and use it by randomly browsing through settings and homescreen, don't launch apps, just use the phones basic functions, do that for 20 minutes, and post your temperature, my CPU gets to 53 degrees Celcius doing that, also my CPU1 is offline and CPU0 runs at 1GHz instead of 1.5, if you do have both CPU's online, it's already a hardware issue. And play angry birds for 10-15 minutes or Lazors, doing that brings it to 63 degrees celcius, if you have lower temperatures, I will send it to HTC immidiately.

Both my cores go up to 1.56 Ghz (I am not o/c), when under use.
I turned on GPS Bluetooth thetering, chrome youtube. Not above 56. 63 is way too high. Your kernel should have rebooted your phone at this temp.
HIT THAT THANKS BUTTON.

Do your soft buttons get warm especially the first 2? Cause mine does, but no matter, after the weekend it's being picked up by HTC for repairs. It's quite a shame, I got it for almost 2 weeks now after repairs and I can't do anything with it for too long. Although the weird thing is, when System Tuner Pro says 53 or 63 degree celcius it doesn't feel any warmer.
HTC Sensation XE with Beats - Heating up
I have tried about 9,10 custom roms and kernels, heating as hell.
I can feel de heat on my display lower left and specially firts 2 soft touch buttons. and after more heat all the lower part of phone.

[Q] Screen doesn't turn on

I am having some screen issues with my doubleshot. Basically my screen would not turn on but I know everything still works. I am able to listen to music, pick up calls, unlock the phone, etc.
It seems to happen randomly. Pressing the middle button or the power button only makes the buttons glow but doesn't turn on the screen.
Pulling out the battery and forcing the phone to restart solves the problem. Is there a solution or a more graceful way of getting the screen to come back on?
Edit:
Forgot to mention that it happens to my on JellyBean DS and KitKat DS by Emmanuel U.
Was using CM 9.1 by scverhagen and the issue doesn't happen as often. Once a week where has the JB and KK happens atleast once a day.
I have the same problem too. For awhile thought it was to an app I moved to sd card (walgreens). Wasn't as often moving app off sd card.

I've seen this happen as well with various roms as well (including 9.1). I currently am using tbalden's 10.1, and haven't seen it in forever. I don't know if he fixed it, or I've just been lucky.
I have a feeling that it might be the minimum frequency processor settings. The default settings that Emmanuel set seem pretty aggressive.
I am going to:
increase my minimum frequency to 540MHz (and incrementally lower it until it becomes unstable)
keep my maximum frequency at 1512 MHz
set CPU governor to ONDEMAND
Battery shouldn't be too much of a problem for me since I upgraded to 3500 mAh.
daswerk, have you tried playing around with your processor settings?

540 minimum sounds a bit high to me unless your phone wasn't stable on stock ROM either. Maybe try 192? You could also try lowering your max to the stock 1.2ghz
I keep mine at 1512 too. Low at 192, going to try 384 for a bit. I have not had the problem for awhile though.

Thanks for the advice.
I remember having my max frequency at 1512 MHz before so I thought that wasn't a problem.
So far 540 MHz minimum has kept my phone from going blank. I'll try 192 Mhz next
I've tried to set 192 Mhz as a minimum rate - and got black screen anyway.

192 MHz worked for me. You can try doing something extreme like what I did to see if it's the minimum frequency. It may decrease battery a bit but it's better than having the annoying black screen. I tried 540MHz as a test frequency.
Not all processors are the equal. So what may work for some may not work for others.
Same problem here. Black screen on Doubleshot with CM 10.1. Made me really concerned when it happened, as I was was reading the hardware maintenance thread earlier today (for fun) so I thought the LCD went.
This is the first time this has happened in the three weeks I had this phone, and I've been on 10.1 for almost a week now.
Because battery life[1] is an issue for me as well, I edged things up only slightly (from 96 MHz to 128), hopefully that will do to the trick. If not, I will try 192 MHz.
[1] Speaking of which, any tricks on keeping battery usage low? I use Deep Sleep Battery Saver which helps out a lot. And I'm selective about my apps (removed Songza because it was hanging around while closed, eating up battery life). GPS stays off, although I keep Wi-Fi and 3G on. It looks like the screen becomes the biggest draw at this point. Any advice would be appreciated.
Since the problem in March, I have upped the minimum frequency to 192mHz. For the longest while I haven't had any issues.
But since I installed my new Anker battery (was on a half-in-the-bag EZO Power 1900mAh), the problem came back, happened twice now, a week apart.
I'm trialing KitKatDS right now, but will probably go back in a week or less due to wakelock (Android OS) issues. Judging by above, when I do I will bump up the minimum even higher. Hard to see the correlation with how the battery will be causing it, but I see no other change.
Upping the lower end frequency seemed to work for a bit but i'm still getting the screen issues. I'm using a 3500mAh battery from China but I'm just doubting that the battery affects the screen.
The correlation of frequency to screen issues could also be coincidental.

I wonder if the scheduler has anything to do with screen as well, that is, if CM uses a different one from stock?
