HTC EVO 3D Accessories
Those of you anxious for the first-generation of 3D smartphones will be happy to know that the wait is about to end soon. Carefully inserted into our inbox was an invitation to the “HTC 3D After After Party,” an event sponsored by both HTC and Sprint. The event is scheduled for May 10th and follows the Google I/O party, but what it doesn’t mention is the launch date for the HTC EVO 3D. You should also note that Best Buy has already started pre-orders for the highly-anticipated smartphone earlier this week and it’s a clear signal the release date is near.

@ Ramsony (post #3): Wrong device thread/forum dude. If you work for Sprint, I'm glad you are excited but please don't bloat up all the other device forums- though I repsect your enthusiasm and hope you are not a spam bot. BTW- May 10th was a long time ago- in a device launch far, far away...

HTC Engineers at Taiwan Trade Show

I am in Taipei this week and there is a huge trade show going on. Don't know the exact name other than it is next door to the Grand Hyatt.
HTC has a very large both with engineers so I had the great pleasure of talking with the HTC Design engineering guys.
Some conversation points:
The HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris is unknown on actual launch dates.
The HTC Engineerins know that Taiwan is getting the Polaris devices sometime in February.
TomTom software may or may not be on the device. It depends on the carriers agreements and the distributors packaging, sku's, etc
There is a Google software is being looked at and HTC does have a dedicated engineer working with Google and the SDK package for future devices. I did ask if we would be able to upgrade current platforms to the Google phone software and I got a 'probably not' response. (At least I tried)
As promised - Pics -

Can you ask them if they thought Kaiser owners would use their GPS indoors when they blessed the device with transmissive LCDs
Sometime in February, damn HTC keeps pushing the release date away...
kinda silly to use google for gps if one
1. have to pay pr. mb downloaded
2. drive in places where gprs/edge/... is weak or absent

Exactly! This for me is the MAJOR question. Also about Kaiser....I'm still choosing which one shall I pick...
Please........try to clarify this issue once and for all....
I will try to back over there this evening to get a response on the DirectX question and the others.
Just to clarify, the Google SDK is for the new Google Cell Phone OS/ROM/Firmware. Not just GPS feature. It is called ANDROID and is the Mobile Phone Software that Google is hoping to be the alternative to WM5/6. Follow the embedded link to see the videos of the phone software.
I tried getting back over to the trade show but the engineers were already gone for the day. Sorry -
Better luck next time
ThankX for your effort anyway!
Bye!

A few things I found...

Decided to take a crack (lol pun intended ) at a couple of things the other night, and stumbled across something interesting - HTC's internal bidding system.
And what I've found are parts that they are buying for whatever models of phones they're working on/thinking about working on. I saw parts for an HTC Touch Pro from 2005, parts from the HTC Magic from 2006, etc.. Well, I found parts, as of the other day, for the 'HTC Incredible', so, they must be working on it.
Also, I found reference to xda-developers.com inside of an actual bidding-slip for reference to the models that they had listed - I thought that was pretty damn cool.
I've highlighted different model names and such, and the reasoning I pointed out the Bahamas and the Memphis are so you can see that the models are not always only listed on the right-side of the screen, too.
Here are some screenshots for you all:

Just wanted to bring this thread back up, because now the HTC Incredible is official, and is being released on Verizon.
I wonder what phones I could find info. on if I were to look now?
Just found some more models to wonder about.

We're here live at Google I/O, and the folks from Mountain View have just shared something rather sweet -- a coalition of manufacturers and carriers committed to making sure their Android devices receive the very latest updates. All four major US carriers (and Vodafone) as well as HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Motorola are on board, and all will guarantee you timely upgrades to the latest version of Android for eighteen months after release, provided the hardware's capable. Now that's change we can believe in.

Good news?
Also Honeycomb 3.1
http://www.gsmarena.com/events_roun...okia_and_microsoft_later_in_may-news-2629.php
great news. had this program been in place a year ago there wouldn't be so many bad attitudes in the vibrant forum -_-
What does "timely" mean? And does this represent a change from what they were previously doing? My impression is that most/all of these companies would say that they already roll out updates in a "timely" fashion, regardless of what we impatient users think, and that this is just a commitment not to stop doing that.
lol we'll see. i'll believe it when it happens, but my fingers are crossed cuz that'd be awesome!
don't hold your breath.
I think an actual number should be set in place like 3 months after initial release of the newest version of android? Im not sure if thats reasonable or not but the galaxy S series didnt even start getting 2.2 updates until 2.3 was released. Thats just plain wrong haha.
Google announcement bad news for G2X
This is typical Google BS - saying one thing and getting everyone ready for that, and then turning everything upside down with a different "plan".
2.4 was supposed to be a functional update for 2.3 the optimize it for dual core performance. If you search "android 2.4" - you will still see most links stating just that.
Now, from the above announcement link, it is supposed to be the end-all OS for all devices. Don't expect to see that any time soon now. The "original" 2.4 was supposed to be coming out soon, and I was looking forward to a port or possibly even an G2X/O2X update.
I am annoyed enough with Google that I suggest that take their "Ice Cream Sandwich" and stick it both up where the sun does not shine and where it will melt!
I want a duel core OS and I want it now, as per their earlier alleged plan - it was due out in April.
Bull****. We won't be seeing 2.3 anytime soon.

Big Android BBQ Devices Museum

Hi all,
For those XDA´ers who are attending I would like to ask for your support to the project.
The only thing we need is a few ppl bringing old and not so old working-nice shaped devices to the BBQ. We´ll have a glass showcase to allow BBQ´ers to see the devices. And devices will be safe from touching at all time.
Devices loaned for the exhibition will be kept in security at all times
No need for chargers, just bring devices fully charged
The idea is to get 50 representative devices from all times who you think they deserve to be in a museum.
Please reply to this thread only if you can help us bringing your device by leaving your name and the device you can lend for the exhibition.
We will contact you via PM to give you further details.
Thanks so much in advance!

Did you pre-order from Samsung? Beware of hidden costs!

https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordon...ost-release-date-galaxy-s9-plus/#74be71f6251c
Galaxy S9 pre-orders have begun for Samsung’s deceptively well-upgraded (if controversial) smartphone and it will hit stores on March 16th. But read Samsung’s small print and there’s a nasty surprise in there which can hit your wallets hard, and maybe even make you cancel your upgrade plans altogether…
.
.
.
Heavily marketed across the site is ‘Samsung Upgrade’. This entitles you “Get the latest Galaxy Phone every year” and it is the default payment option when you try to pre-order the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, regardless of whether you requested it. Choose it and you are still told the “total” is the standard price for the phones (either $720 or $840), but Premium Care has been added “on separate financing terms.”
Premium Care is not listed as part of the “total” but will cost you an extra $11.99 per month over a two year period. The first month is free so that’s 23 payments totalling an extra $276. If you’d like to find out more about it Samsung states: “For additional questions regarding Samsung Premium Care, please call 1-866-371-9501.”
Furthermore, if you do place this order by accident then because the first month of Premium Care is free you won’t notice it in your billing. You will in month two, but then you have already passed the 30-day return window. Samsung also retains the right to increase the monthly cost of Premium Care at any time with 30 days notice.

That's if you chose that option, you could have paid it in full or just financed it as well.
Yeah, and it's not like it was hidden that they were adding on the insurance, unlike the article seems to imply. It'd also standard procedure for such an arrangement, and apple, Motorola, Google and others do the same. This article came off to me as nothing but click bait.

Forbes and most other new sites are click bait and propaganda crap.
In what way is this hidden? (Also seems to be US site only)

I looked at it, didn't seem that hidden. It defaulted to the care plan but as long as you read the 3 options its not hard to figure out which one to select if you just want the phone.
If you can't tell the difference between those 3 options, then you shouldn't be purchasing the phone on the internet.
