Problems with usb mass storage on windows 7 - HTC Sensation

Usb mass storage is not working in windows 7. When I connect to my laptop it recognizes the drive right away... But if I connect to my windows 7 desktop the drive shows as letter E but no files are accessible. Any ideas???

Bump... btw my laptop is running vista with no problems at all...

I'm having similar problems. Works fine on my Windows 7 laptop, only shows up in Devices on my desktop. Both have farily new Windows 7 setups.

Stock memory cards? I tried using one from my old HD2s and they wouldn't work. They work with the HD2 fine, but not with any other connection to W7. My stock 8gb card works fine with no problems. Also, have you guys formatted the cards? If so, how did you format them? With a tool like the panasonic one? I think that's how my 16gb got damaged (panasonic tool).

I have the same problem with my Thunderbolt, but I have not had the problem with the Sensation.

I installed HTC Sync software & it installed HTC drivers and have no problems on Windows 7

Help - can't sync Fuze to Windows 7

I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, and now my Fuze won't sync at all. When I plug it in, the computer detects it as a storage device, but does not recognize it as a smartphone. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Mobile Device Center, resetting the phone, etc., with no luck. Has anyone else run into this problem and know how to fix it?
are you clicking active sync on your device when you plug it in?

Yes.
I justed tested out tethering - strangely, that all works fine, both by USB and Bluetooth, as does using the Fuze as an external drive. Just can't sync.
Well, weird, it works now. After trying for ages with resets and reboots, etc., etc., this time when I plugged it in it worked. I'm not sure I did anything different.
I believe if you have Windows 7 Pro or higher (Ultimate) there is a virtualization option for Windows XP, where you should be able to run any type of application that is 100% same as Windows XP. That way you can work with the instructions for WinXP. Hope that helps!

To My Phone...I Connect The Phone And Am Lost From There So Please Go Into Detail =(
I do not think you can connect a windows phone to a Mac computer. They are not compatible.
What you can do instead is -
1.download the cookiehometab.cab file on your computer,
2.then send yourself an email that is linked to your phone and attach the .cab file.
3.dowload the attachment on your phone and then run it to install it.
That should be all you have to do.
re
You can download the apps to your computer, they will just be unrecognizable. Transfer them to your SD card through USB or Bluetooth, and then search it on your phone. This worked well for me. Quicker then DL them strait from your phone!
theres a software called "missing sync" for mac's. try searching for a torrent or unless you want to buy the program. but it works better than activesync in my opinion.
Moved as not software release.
I'm using a macbook to connect to my hd2 most of the time. No problems connecting at all.
Connect USB cable and connect as disk drive on HD2, Macbook sees hd2 sd card as disk drive. Just access the drive on your mac and transfer the file(s) to hd2 storage card.
Or, if you have set up a bluetooth connection between the mac and the hd2, use the mac's "sent file" option in the bluetooth menu.
After you get the file to your HD2 you can use the original installation instructions again.
The syncmate program works great for syncing your contacts etc. But had some trouble getting it to work through bluetooth. I use the USB for that. But than the phone has to be set to active sync mode.
(love my macbook pro, but hated the iphone hype and the restrictions hence the HD2)

Can´t connect mass storage on Windows XP SP3

Hi,
Recently I made an installation of the Infused ROM 2.2.3 and Infusion OC kernel on my device, but I can´t make any USB connection (mass storage) to work properly on Windows XP SP3 with Samsung Modem installed, and Samsung SGH-I997 drivers too, Kies installed and etc... when device connects and show the 2 external units, and when begin to copy files between PC and phone device disconnects automatically, and sometimes freezes the entire windows explorer... what I´m doing wrong?
This is both in Windows XP SP3 and Mac OS X 10.6.8, in mac, device simply doesn´t appears... notice that Kies on mac is on version 1.0... and in Windows is on 2.+...

Drivers are not necessary for USB mass storage mode.
Are XP and MacOS on the same dual-boot machine or are these different machines?
I know one of the ports on my Asus laptop is weird and constantly disconnects the phone - it's limited to just one port and the rest work fine. Maybe you have something similar.

I have an iMac with Mac OS X 10.6.8 (x64) Bootcamp and WinXp (x86) installed, primary boot system is XP SP3, well... I´ll check usb ports, hope this helps to solve this...
in my office machine (HP Windows XP Pro x86) I have kies and drivers installed too, but this machine works so fine all the time, when I connect the phone, explorer displays the two units and it can copy/paste files between PC/phone without disconnecting, connection is stable...
... maybe I should get the Samsumg i-9000 drivers instead of SGH-i997 due to I´m on Infused 2.2.3??
What the hell is Windows XP?
Sounds like a driver conflict kies doesn't play well with win 7 64. I know from personal experience
Try uninstalling all drivers and kies then reinstall drivers only, I think xp has generic drivers for usb mass storage so if you just need that then connect it without installing driver's.
Also make sure your data cable is good. Try a new one. They are cheap on Amazon

Since it affects XP and MacOS on the same dual-boot machine but doesn't affect his work machine - I suspect it's a USB port problem.
Try this...
Were you able to go into mass storage mode prior to flashing the ROM?
If so, maybe your USB Ports are looking for something that to them isn't there...every time that you connect a usb device, your computer creates a record in the usbstor section of the registry. You can manually delete these by using regedit and heading to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR
Remember that making changes to your registry can have some undesired results, but this one is pretty safe.
Alternatively, you can go to this site http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html and use USBDeview to disable any old keys or such.
Don
maybe... I don´t know why but its on both systems on iMac machine, device attempts to connect and a milisecond after that, connection rejects and reconnects then reject a bout a three times like it was shortcircuit... like I was saying, in my HP (work machine) works like a charm, even in USB debugging mode, or not, so...

I will try it and see what will happens... what could it be?
a driver problem?
another thing that I forget to mention is that I installed drivers manually, actually I live in a block without any wi-fi network! and my Windows XP could not get drivers via Microsoft Update, so, I don't know if this is a factor too

Windows 8 Support

Is anyone else having trouble getting their Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) to be recognized in their Windows 8 PC as a media device? I have explorer functionality when the phone is in camera mode but in media mode it does not appear in Computer.
I tried the phone on a Windows 7 PC and it works just fine, plug in play. I have downloaded the driver available on Samsung's website, but doesn't have mention of Windows 8 compatibility and during installation also prompts many messages of compatibility issues.
Thanks for your time and any help.
Also, the although I have file explorer functionality in USB camera mode, I am not able to transfer songs to the phone and a message is displayed by Windows that while in camera mode this type of transfer (music) is not compatible.
Did you try Kies air or try to somehow put the phone in compatibility mode to windows 7/vista?
For me MTP doesn't work well at all.
mine works fine.....I can see both internal and external sd cards and all the files on both of them.
Worked fine for me out of the box. Plugged it in and windows downloaded the driver, wanted a reboot and was fine since.
Works for me
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
works perfectly for me
Mine shows up but if I send over to many files at once it crashes the explorer.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
its working perfectly for me
Thanks for your replies guys.. I tried connecting the phone again to the computer this time into a different USB port and walah.. it shows up as a Portable Media Device. I'm back in business.

[Support] Win 8 won't detect (data) Nexus 5

Hi
I am facing a strange problem for the past month or so. All of a sudden my Win 8 laptop (HP ProBook 4430s) won't detect the nexus 5 mobile.
Strangely all other devices (non nexus mobile) on this laptop works well. Also my mobile worked fine on another laptop - Sony (Win 8 64 bit)
Nexus 5 - ver 4.4.4 (latest)
I have tried the following but in vain:
1. Rebooted laptop as well as mobile.
2. Tried all the 4 USB ports
3. Refreshed/scan for hardware changes the Device Manager
4. Changed the USB cable twice
5. Scanned with 'latest USB driver windows' for android
6. On the mobile swappd the options between MTP and PTP
I can see the mobile getting charged but can't access its storage
Kindly suggest a workaround.
Regards, GS
