why are people so concerned about Gingerbread? I bet at least half of the people who kept asking for Gingerbread does not even know why they wanted it. I'd like to see what is the main reason people need it. I understand it's the latest version and it got some cool features but does it really affect the phone that much? I'd rather ask LG to fix some of the issues they have now rather than the Gingerbread... just my 2 cents...

I thought the wordage (yes I did) of my tweet would display the humor in was going for. Now I did mean it don't let the smooth taste fool ya. But you guys are so he'll bent on making people feel stupid you didn't even notice it.
I didn't start this thread for scrubs to come in and flame. I want Gingerbread for the same reason I buy a new phone every 2-3 months. Because it's new. I know how to root my phone, I have every ROM stored on my phone so I can play with it in my spare time, but what's wrong with wanting an official update?
And don't you think an official update would come with bug fixes?

Because honestly, the development sucks on this phone. Also, it appears any kind of development for this has been abandoned....I just can't keep a phone that I cannot modify..and yes, I am too busy/ignorant to learn the development on my own..

I agree with you that's why I got me the Nexus S 4G and dump T-Mobile and their bull mofos where giving me edge every 2 weeks since I got the SGS4G ... and never gave me my mail in rebate ... also they give more promotion power to crap phones like that Nokia. I think if I saw 1 ad for this phone it was a miracle ... but that's my beef with T-Mobile ... back to the phone I think it could have been great. But I'll again compare it to the Sega Dreamcast bad ass died young ...

lmao freedom of speech? By all means. We are just trying to have hope and what not for our phones. =)
But for someone who doesn't have hope or patients shouldn't make others feel bad, by posting this thread.honestly we can all agree to some and disagree to some of mike's reasons but that's just reminds us that our phones are not being progressed faster like other phones but it's okay if you have hope. =)

I miss the good ol' g1 JF days... Even the MT3G and most of the N1 days... Before lames knew what xda was. Back then, you could come to XDA, open a thread, get hella info, and get busy. Nowadays it's 30% useful info, and 70% bs like this. SMDH. I wish there was a way to control it. It's sad, really.

There is: Premium membership. I'd pay $5/mo not to have to sift through endless nonsense.
EDIT: Not that XDA offers one, but I think they should. And maybe not $5/mo, maybe something like $30/yr. or something -- a small measure, but it would prevent probably 75% of the posts that show up here from random asshats.

That would go against what XDA stands for, when you start putting a price on "Open Source" your going to piss off a lot of people.
Can't see the problem, threads like these aren't the issue.

Well he can post what he want who cares we can't flash anyway, so reading this type of thread helps pass time and he telling the truth why be in a forum talking about a phone you don't got. I highly doubt you see sensation owners in a ****ing samsung forum that phone ain't all that.

Agreed, saying that i did get my Sensation for free from HTC
But i do prefer it over the SGS2, not saying the galaxy 2 is a bad phone, i just prefer sense.

Thanks to the wonderful devs but I left AT&T and moving on

I wanted to say thank you so much to all the wonderful devs here for all of their efforts making the Captivate a better phone than Samsung could. Please don't flame me, this isn't a knock on the Captivate, I loved the device even with it's flaws. I will miss the Captivate forum, yesterday I jumped to T-Mobile, better rates and they have dual core phones. I got an HTC Sensation and I love it.I will miss my Cappy but I couldn't deal with Samsung's shortfalls any longer, I want a device that works as it should out of the box. I also would like timely updates which AT&T proved they suck at providing. Happy flashing to all and thanks for the wonderful support provided by the community.

You can't blame the hardware for crappy made software from the service provider or user error from bricking. I have never done anything that I couldn't fix and that wasn't my fault...
The fact that you CAN make it better by flashing new software proves that the hardware is adequate. The only thing you could perhaps complain about is gps but if you're that dependent on it maybe you should take some time learning your way around...

I have switched over to Sprint and nabbed a SGS2 Epic Touch 4g. I jus would like to thank everyone on the G2X forums, the trolls, the DEVS, and the people who actually help one another by directing them to the right links to make their G2X experience awesome and jus right for them.
P.S I'm really missing my G2X running Miui on Faux. Time for me to move over to the Epic 4G Touch page. But G2X will remain in my Favorites.

SGSII is still a better phone...
You're right. People DO dumb **** all the time...like insinuate that ICS will keep a device relevant after it's out of date.
Got my SGSII today, as well. The TMo version, but nonetheless. A SUBSTANTIAL upgrade.

In my opinion, this wasn't a smart decision, especially considering the fact that the GSIII should be announced soon... You could've held off for a little bit longer!

Maybe he got it dirt cheap.

Trying to stay on the top of the technology curve with Android is impossible unless you have plenty of money to burn. I try to get a year or 18 months then upgrade. ICS is definitely keeping me with the G2x for the time being.

Pretty naive for you to say that. You'd be a fool to even think the G2x is remotely better than the SGS2.
Better processor, more RAM, bigger/better screen, and most importantly, actual support from Samsung as opposed to the lack there of from LG.

I think i would rather have and SII... the screen is better it has more ram and the processor is dual core 1.2 mHz
