Battery 1900mA - Should I sell my G2X and buy the Sensation? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello.
I want to buy the 1900 mA battery on eBay
However now there is the HTC sensation.
My question is, will there be a 1900 mA battery for the sensation, and if so, how long it usually takes for good/aftermarket batteries to arrive?
I'd need to wait at least 45 days since someone has to sell the battery and then I'd like to see a couple of reviews.
Anyway, I don't want to spend more money on accessories if the G2X is not going to be my phone
However, if the G2X has all the accessories now, I could use it for a couple of months, 2-3 months
For me it's a matter of price vs performance.
These are my priorities
1) Aftermarket cases, batteries...
2) Development of phone (root, unlock possibilities, ROMs...)
3) Price
If I wait too long I won't be able to sell my G2X but if I sell it right now I might not be able to enjoy all the accessories I bought
For example the $40 InvisibleShield and the 2 cases that I bought
If I buy the batter I'd like to use the phones at least 2 months
After 2 months, if I sell my phone on Amazon/eBay/Craigslist, how much money do you guys think I could sell it for?

By all means, please buy the Sensation.

Good God, buy the Sensation.
I have had the G2X for a month, and nothing has been working perfectly all of the time.
The Sensation is a much better purchase.
Check out my thread I posted, "Good Bye, G2X. Hello Sensation?" in the General Section for all my problems.

1) what about ROOTING the phone?
I've read they encrypted something
If I can't install ROMs, then I guess I can still use it
but if I can't ROOT the phone, no way
2) 1900 mA battery, that is a BIG plus, I really want that battery and the G2X already has that one
If I continue spending money on this phone, then at least I'd use it for another 2-3 months
3) Samsung Galaxy SII
That is another contender, I enjoyed the Galaxy S 4G
At the end of the day, I just want to change if it makes sense, because changing phones costs me around $150-$200, since I have to sell my phone, and put the extra cash for the new one
Plus then I have to sell the accessories
The only accessory that I won't be able to sell is the InvisibleShield, and nobody is going to pay me an extra $40, so my loss
I like the G2X, but if I can have a device with 256MB of more RAM and IF I CAN ROOT that device, then it would be worth it

OK, I took five minutes and looked at the first page of the Sensation General Forum. The following is a list of reported issues form the first page...
Locked Bootloader
Random Sense FC
LAG, Lag, lag
Random Data and WIFI Drops
Bad Battery Life
Low network signal
WiFi "death grip"
Poor compatibility wit Gameloft Games
All from the first page...
Now I'm not saying don't buy the phone. I'm saying every new phone has issues and I'm sick of people proclaiming the Sensation to be the answer to every question. Bottom line...look closely at both and get the one that fits you better. For me The fact that the g2x is faster, has an unlocked bootloader (I know HTC says they'll unlock the Sensation "someday"), and has a rich community of proven developers sealed the deal. In the end it's your choice...

Agreed
Anyway, what is the BEST and most reliable way to install ROMs on my G2X?
I'd like to install a ROM but ONLY IF I'm able to backup my current ROM in case I want to reinstall it in the future
Last time with Samsung Galaxy S 4G I made the error of jumping into ROMS too early, and with no backup of my current ROM I had some issues
mainly some apps in system folder that weren't working properly
I have a backup of the system folder now, but I'd like to have a REAL WORKING backup of my current ROM
Maybe I can upgrade to 2.3 officially someday, without ROMs or anything
Plus when I sell the phone I'd like to sell it with the official ROM
I'm keeping my G2X and next week I'm buying that 1900 mA battery
Anyway, what is the next phone that has Nvidia Tegra 1.2Ghz+ (or Qualcomm 1.2Ghz+) + 768MB (or 1024MB) of RAM and 960x540?
I don't play too many games on my phone and if Qualcomm doesn't support a game or two I don't care too much
I thought HTC Pyramid (HTC Sensation T-Mobile) was THE ANSWER and the next G2X Killer
G2X is extremely popular and people love it. HTC Sensation seems cool but I think for experts it's not worth it
They locked everything in that phone
Anyway, back to G2X, please tell me what is the most efficient way to use my phone.
I'd like a ROM that leaves a lot of FREE RAM so my phone can feel faster than ever
and I'd also like to backup my current ROM and be able to restore it any day
Thanks in advance

First if you haven't rooted do it with superoneclick here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985
Then Flash Recovery with One-Click ClockworkMod NvFlasher here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Then boot into recovery (Hold Vol Down + Power) and backup your current ROM. After you are backed up...flash whatever ROM you want. It's all pretty easy with the advent of oneclick. As for which ROM that is up to you but any of the current roms should feel much faster than stock due to the bloat removal...and with the OC kernels you can make this thing scream. Oh, there is a flashable copy of the stock ROM in the dev section if you ever need it (if you made a backup you won't)
And not what you asked for but the Samsung Galaxy S II is the only upcoming phone that has caught my eye. it has a dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Orion processor and it is a beast. Until then I'm loving what I have.
Hope this helped...

Every single device being released today has it's problems and we all know the G2X isn't without it's own. I was lucky enough to get both a G2X and a Sensation that had no bugs or only a few minor ones. Most of the software bugs are fixable either through custom ROMS or menu settings.
The Sensation bugs you have listed do not exist on some devices but I will address all of your concerns you have with the Sensations bug list.
-Locked bootloader: HTC has already said they will unlock it through a update. When does it come? Nobody knows just like Gingerbread on the G2X.
-I haven't had any Sense FC's and the Sensation I am using has been running for almost 3 days straight without me rebooting the device. I think this problem is attributed to a bad app with a memory leak.
-Once you turn off all the bells and whistles such as animated weather and all of the Sense animations there is no more lag.
-Haven't had a Random WiFi or Data drop but I applied this fix before I started using the phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118017
-As said in my review, I get great battery life. Better than I did on my G2X and I thought I had pretty good battery on my G2X which got 14 hours on moderate use but the Sensation is getting almost 18 hours on moderate use.
-No problem with network signals here. Gets the same amount of signal my G2X does.
-WiFi death grip was an issue until I changed a setting. Under advanced settings in the WiFi menu there is a check box called "Best WiFi Performance". Once the box was checked, my Sensation no longer suffered the WiFi death grip when multiple rooms away from the router.
-Never played a Gameloft game so I wouldn't know. What I can tell you is that the two games I play religiously actually run smoother and look better on the Sensation. Those two are Andgry Birds and Home Run Battle 3D.

Not my concerns so no need to address them. All of the problems listed were taken from the first page of the Sensation forum. I have absolutely NO interest in the Sensation other than there is WAY too much posting about it in the g2x forums (in my opinion). In short I don't care.

Yea, I don't agree the Sensation is the answer to every question. The answer to every question won't get hear until late August. At that point I will have a G2X and a Sensation up for sale.

Perhaps you're referring to the Samsung Galaxy S II? If so, I'm right on point with you...
I'm going to pick up the Sensation today...G2X is nice, but it gets boring fast...HTC has always made good hardware. Looks good too...The new interface looks promising as well...way cooler than the bare bone G2X...yea yea root it add custom roms blah blah blah...still that doesn't take away from the fact that the G2X is grandpa in design compared to the new HTC S4G. Let alone the SCREEN....Period.
Selling the G2X while I can to get a decent chunk of change on it. Going to take advantage of it not being available on TM's website. Right now would be the best time to sell..
The way I see it...facts that is...the Galaxy S II, if it ever arrives to TM, will be the ultimate phone hands down...in the mean time the HTC Sensation 4g is the throne holder...G2X isn't too far behind, but overall the HTC S4G is the next best thing...
Samsung Galaxy S II...hurry up!

Engadget had a post today saying that HTC was considering unlocking the bootloader.
In a market where the (good) phones are currently even so far as specs are concerned, a company would be shooting themselves in the foot by restricting a system that the others are leaving open.
My 2 cents.
My other 2 cents is if you can wait, then wait. Play with the Sensation when it comes out. You like it, buy it. You don't, buy the G2x.
My last bit of change, if you are content for the time being with the phone you have, don't jump for either until at least a month after the Sensation has come out. Right now, the G2x user experience for the majority of us is frustrating and I can only imagine the Sensation will be the same. Just wait and see what comes of both of them.
Get all of them!!!!! :d:d:d:d:d
I posted a TON of information why I didn't like the Sensation. The encrypted locked bootloader was high on the list but here are others:
-The Tegra 2 is like 33% more powerful then the dual-core snapdragon
-HDMI/microUSB = No HDMI Out + Charging (since no TV's support the MDLP yet)
-Locked encrypted Bootloader + New Sense = Mercy of HTC for bug fixes
-NVidia pushing devs for enhanced Tegra Apps = No go on non-Tegra devices
-Lower Res Front Camera
It does look like a sexy phone though. We'll see what problems it has out of the box compared to the G2x.
The G2x does have its problems but Tegra chips are new. Most work pretty well out of the box. Most of the issues we have is from the phone shipping with a 2.2 Kernel and everyone is flashing the leaked 2.3.3 rom. The drivers and stuff get funky but we're expected to get an updated kernel soon (the OS was already leaked).
I would agree though that I would wait a few weeks. While the G2x is great, it would be best to know your options to what best suites you. The Sensation is due out soon and you can compare the two side-by-side.
If the bootloader was unlocked, I could "possibly" live with the other stuff.
Wait and see what our big gingerbread update looks like on the g2x because like someone said before, this has been a frustrating experience so far... once we get that bad boy out and assuming it is a stable, quality build with much better driver support then the sky is the limit with this device! it will be the tegra2 flagship phone for the next 18 months
few things about the sensation that bothered me from my n1, and this is an HTC issue, their external speakers are a joke to say the least, poorly positioned, horrible sound, never loud enough... the g2x's external speaker is pretty solid in my opinion. And the HTC cameras are nothing to brag about either. I saw a video of both phones doing 1080p recording and the Sensation had a horrible red-shift problem...
number 1 nicely put player911 and yo the g2x is a ****in beast i had alot of phones n this one is the fastest yea theres little problems here n there but they will get addressed with updates this phone is a dev magnet not so sure the sensation will be like that especially if htc doesnt to unlock the bootloader ...y the **** would they do that no one else does that just screams dont buy me ur at the mercy of htc n there never to come updates if theres bugs dude i say g2x all the way!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I love this phone but the lack of custom ROMs is starting to annoy me. I want a damn MIUI ROM or at least something other than CM7 and EaglesBlood (I love AOSP though but MIUI on top of AOSP would be perfect). HTC phones always seem to end up with the most development behind them and their touch panels are some of the most sensitive in the industry (quite unlike the G2x which annoys the hell out of me sometimes with how hard I have to press on it). I think the tides will start to turn on HTC development though with the locked bootloaders.
That said, between HTC, LG, and Samsung - I'd pick the Samsung. For one, HTC uses Snapdragon chips - Qualcomm has a long (very long) history of promising that their chips will do this, that, the third, and even the fourth - but they never come through. Tegra 3 is coming out this year though and that's going to be a beast to contend with - the Exynos from Samsung absolutely decimates the Tegra 2.
Build quality on my Captivate was phenomenal - I've never had an HTC phone with great build quality - and that's going all the way back to the PPC-6800. There have always been issues. This is my first LG phone and while I enjoy it a lot, the touch panel sensitivity is a huge issue when I'm gaming and really needs to be fixed.
Also, HTC tends to say that the phone has "x" amount of storage space but what really happens (like what happened with the Inspire) is they partition and format it in a way that means you get slightly less than half what they advertise. HTC also has a history of shoddy driver support.
The only pro I see with the HTC is how fast HTC does device updates - that said, they're always sloppy releases and devs have to take them apart anyway - add in the locked bootloader and I don't really see a lot of devs going that way. Also the TegraZone is quickly growing - developers are really taking to the Tegra platform and producing some astounding applications as a result. There is no Qualcomm or Samsung zone and Tegra-optimized applications will not run on another chipset.

Galaxy S2 returned, preordered Sensation

Hi!
I returned my Samsung Galaxy S2 back to the store and am now waiting for the HTC Sensation. While the Galaxy S2 is a nice phone, I really despise the TouchWiz. Even with ADW Launcher EX & WidgetLocker mitigating the terribleness of the interface Samsung has built, the stock apps still are very uncomfortable to use - especially e-mail, messaging and calendar are lacking. And most of their other attempts at apps aren't any better - dismal at best.
The back cover is unpleasant to remove which is peeving if you like to switch the battery to a fresh one (although spare batteries are not released till mid-june) or regularly move between different countries and therefore like to change SIMs (like I do).
I also would have preferred a capacitive home-button, instead of a physical switch.
Other bugs (which will probably soon be patched) are bothersome as well, like the 3G data connection regularly stalling - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097612
Specs-wise I think having a higher resolution screen will be a very nice addition, the lower amount of RAM & internal storage probably won't be all that noticeable. I wonder why HTC didn't include an HSPA+ radio, but I think that is something I can definitively live with.
Are any other Samsung Galaxy S2 expatriates lurking on this board? What were your Galaxy-experiences, why are you now waiting for the HTC Sensation instead?

Why? He shared a consice rational review based on how the phone met his expectations. With OP having owned a SGS2 I look forward to a direct comparison to the Sensation by someone who has used them both as their daily driver.

I didn't mean to paint you as a fanboy. By the same token I'm not a fanboy either. Before the disaster that was the G2X my last five phone's were HTCs and I really liked all of them. I had to get the SGS2 because the Sensation wouldn't have been availbale before the G2X had to be returned to T-Mobile. I would have seriously considered the Sensation if that wasn't the case. I'm a phone geek which is why I'm following the Sensation; not to bash it. Both phones are going to have considerable strengths and weaknesses. We should be able to discuss them without threads turning in to page after page of "yes it is," "no it isn't." Peace.

i completely agree with you.. but it will never happen because everyone has their opinion and that is what causes all of this nonsense. but fair is fair everyone has a preference but to force your preference on others really pushes my buttons. and you do have to admit they are other who go to other threads to bash others for what they want i do visit the sgs2 forums but out of respect i dont post there because i am not at this moment considering the phone but for knowledge i like to read how it is going.

I disappoint... Galaxy S II is much better!
Since 2003 I'm a HTC sure user but now I have to disappoint at all with you and with HTC!
I'm very sorry the new sensation is just considered worse than Galaxy S II but we have to admit this is the thuth!
1) Also if the Galaxy Display resolution (480x800pxl) is lower than htc sens (540x960) its technology is better than htc because is "amoled" and so we have a lower battery consuption, better coulor and luminosity, and better view when there is much sunlight
2) RAM: 1024Mb for Galaxy, 768Mb for htc: no words.....
3) Internal memory: 16Gb or 32Gb (depends by the phone version) for Galaxy while htc sens have got just 1GB! no words still!!
4) cameras: Samsung first one 8mpxl, second one (frontal) 2mpxl; for htc sens is 8mpxl the first one too, but 1.3mpxl the sencond one....
5) battery consuption: with a very similar usage Galaxy SII lasts about 2 full days, while HTC sens just 1/1,5days
I'm very sad to tell it but this time I'll change and I'll buy a Samsung...
Good decision OP, who cares about SamSux. I'll give give them 2-3 month and all hell will break lose in there. SamSux bashing SamSux, look at our development section phones isn't release and no clockwork mod yet and we have 3 roms already. That just tells you HTC is more superior than SamSux. Untill they change their filesystem, HTC will be prefer choice for dev community. Don't matter what spec they have.

I loved the fact that the Galaxy S2 is a very sleek design, thin and light. But the drawbacks - especially in the software area - are very obvious. Their replacements of stock Google apps are, in general, not better but much worse than the original. Plenty of bugs still plague the software - the current version of Music player causes random reboots, data connection is stalling all the time.
Sense (from what I could test on colleagues phones - mainly Desire HD) seems much more thought out and usable to me. I will, still, probably switch to a stock Android ROM, should one arise. But I don't want to be dependent on that.

1) Also if the Galaxy Display resolution (480x800pxl) is lower than htc sens (540x960) its technology is better than htc because is "amoled" and so we have a lower battery consuption, better coulor and luminosity, and better view when there is much sunlight

While AMOLED certainly does produce excellent black levels and saturated colours (maybe even oversaturated), after owning a Nexus One with AMOLED since release I do think the drawback of the technology is the inevitable screen burn-in you get after a few months of use. Nothing that is really bothersome, but LCD technology certainly does have its advantages (besides the higher resolution)

Considering the high RAM usage of Sense, 1GB would have been nice - but still, 768MB should be plenty.

The actual available application memory on the Galaxy S2 is about 2GB, the rest is formated as an internal SD card. In my situation, I typically have about 500MB of app space used - 2GB would have been a nice, but that will still leave me with plenty of headroom once my Sensation is here. A 32GB SD-card will take care of all other storage problems (mainly podcasts, music).

This will vary greatly, but the battery access cover on the Galaxy S2 is very flimsy and uncomfortable to remove. I always carry a second battery for my Nexus One, I will do the same for my Sensation. Changing batteries on the Galaxy S2 (as soon as replacements are available in stores) will be a hassle.
i've done the opposite i've got rid of my sensation and have back ordered the sgs2 the biggest killer for me was the locked bootloader
i know that htc have said they wont lock any more phones but as yet they havent said that they will unlock previous handsets
i know i'm going to get flamed but i really didnt like the sensation it just didnt sit in my hand properly the sgs2 feels better ...... i know it feels cheaper but whats the point in having the expensive feeling phone if it feels wrong in your hand and therefore is difficult to use

You may get flamed by some of the fanboys, but at the end of the day it's all about what feels good to YOU and stuff the rest. I again prefer the more solid feel and try to avoid "cheap" plasticky feel, plus have been put off by plenty of users in many forums I've been to who knock Samsung's lack of updates. Hopefully for you they sort this out. Good luck with your choice
I probably still have a month or 2 before the Sensation is available here, and am hoping for some positive news re the bootloader saga.

I currently have a G2x as well as the Atrix. Ordered the Sensation and the SGS2 as well. Been using both the G2x and the Atrix for a while now and so far, I'm inclined towards the Atrix even though it has the locked bootloader simply because Ive had too many random reboot issues, freeze issues with the G2x (even though I've returned it twice) and I'm not concerned about the light bleed issue.
Once I've received the SGS2 and the Sensation (This Tuesday woohooo!!), I'll have all 4 to test with side by side. Will narrow it down to the top 2 and those are the ones I'm keeping I usually have 2 phones (1 work, 1 personal). If anyone has any suggestions or want me to look at/compare something in specific, let me know.

Having second thoughts about ordering a Sensation

had the choice between the SGS2 and the Sensation. even though i hate my current phone (HTC Touch HD) and despite having sworn several times to never buy a HTC phone again i went for the Sensation. it felt better in my hand, plus i wanted the qHD res and i read a lot about people hating Samsung's TouchWiz UI. my alarm bells should've gone off when i compared the UI smoothness of both phones but for some reason i still went with the Sensation (tbh, i was already hoping for snappier custom ROMs later on). i'm hoping to get the new phone within the month (contract running out in august) but after reading about all the technical issues people are having with their Sensations i'm beginning to think i should've picked the SGS2...
so i guess my question is, are you still happy with your Sensation? if you had the chance to go back in time and get a SGS2 instead, would you keep the HTC?
both are good phones. i personally hate the way the galaxy looks.. plus samsung phone is so unoriginal.. everything is a ripe off the apple. its one thing to use a proven design, but its another to be exactly like the other company with a different OS.. Trash

Things like design, type of display, UI, and like/dislike of a particular manufacturer are all individual preference and aren't really part of a "performance" discussion.
Oh my God another SGS2 thread ...please get one and leave
I switched to the Sensation from a Samsung Vibrant. The hardware was decent, except for GPS, but Samsung's support was terrible. I've sworn off buying anything from Samsung for a while.
If in doubt, go with your gut.
I love my sensation. I think it looks like a sexier device, but then again looks arent everything right? At least you in Europe get to choose. If us Americans want a sgs2 we have to switch to ATT since the sgs2 doesnt support tmo 3g/4g bands. It seems in terms of performance the sammy blows the sensation out of the water based on tests so far.

All the Sensation needs to be is fast enough. No phone will be the "fastest" for more than a few months.
true. coming from a Touch HD, any recent phone will probably make my head spin in terms of UI responsiveness and ease of use. tbh, i don't really care about benchmark results but i'd appreciate knowing the phone i decided to buy stacks up well against the competition

Most of these problems people have are user error with the exception of dust under the screen. There are just too many idiots these days. These are the same people who have problems with every phone they buy and continually return them and then experience the same problems over and over. I came from a Vibrant and swear by Samsung, but I'll avoid them in the mobile world for a while. Awful phone stock, their software developers are clueless. Rooted was a must to make it useable because of their poor proprietary file system.
Bare in mind current 'benchmarks' don't take into account the increased resolution of the Sensation, nor do they work both the CPUs in the Sensation due to both not running at the same time.

I'll never own a carrier subsidized phone again. The crapware they add and the hardware and software changes they demand add no value and in some cases screw up the phone. We'll see how long it takes T-Mobile to push a Sensation update after the international version gets a new ROM. To your point on the Vibrant, it's hard to single out the manufacturer when the carrier dictates a lot of what ends up happening with the phone. Other Galaxy S carrier phones weren't nearly as screwed up as the Vibrant.

[Q] You choose between EVO 3D, Moto Photon, HTC Sensation?

Hello guys, I am in a bind. If you have to choose between these three phones:
1. HTC EVO 3D - SPRINT
2. HTC SENSATION - TMOBILE
3. MOTOROLA PHOTON - SPRINT
Which one would you choose and why? Please also consider the carriers in making your determination.
Any help in deciding will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Im canadian, so unfortunately i can't help you in the carrier department however ill share my opinion on the devices with you.
1- Bad battery, lacklustre reviews id personally stay away, haven't heard anything exceptional about this device.
2- Personally owned this device, it sucks; stay away. Phone lags a lot doing simple things because of the awful sense 3.0. Phone Does not even feel worthy of its dual core status.
3- Best choice out of these three imo, this is strictly from reading reviews. Engadget just reviewed this today; looks like a solid device actually. http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/15/motorola-photon-4g-review/

Hi unleased12,
Thanks for your response. Yea, I have been doing a lot of research. As a matter of fact, I owned the HTC Sensation for 8 days. During that time frame, I did notice the lagging and it was only when I rooted and flashed a custom ROM, did it perform like it should. It was blazing fast but I returned it before the 14 days so I could give other phones a shot.
I really liked the Sensation's performance AFTER flashed with a custom ROM which stil had Sense 3.0 on it, but the kernel had been tweaked and I had it overclocked to 1.5GHz.
I really like the look of the Photon but I am wondering if it will have the support of XDA developers as far as custom ROMs go.
I will go ahead and read that review you posted. Thanks!
PS. Any other phone worth waiting for in the next few weeks?

Curious towards this, what rom did you flash on your sensation to make it fast? haha i tried a couple custom roms and the phone still didn't even come close to my Galaxy s II.
As for the photon dev support, its really hard to say as most MOTO phones have locked boot loaders. But then again the atrix is starting to get some love as people unlocked its BL. As far as dev support goes HTc and samsung are the best, imo.

I had flashed the Android Revolution HD 1.1.7 HD ROM and set it to run at 1.5GHz. It was TEARING up all the benchmarks! On CF Bench, I was scoring higher than a Galaxy S II!!
I "think" the Photon has already been rooted, but not sure. I really liked the HTC Sensation but it would have to be really the BEST available right now to make me go with TMobile. The problem with TMobile is the imminent merger with ATT.
I would say PHOTON for sure. And as for development...this phone has been out for only a week to 10 days now and already has bootloader unlocked. AND...AND...AND...with the acquisition of Google and Motorola today, I would say things are REALLY LOOKING UP!!
PHOTON PHO SHO!!!!!!!

Yea, that is exactly what I was thinking... But I keep reading reviews talking about this PenTile technology used in the display and some say it degrades the image. Anyone know anything about this or is it just nitpicking?
I personified have the Evo 3d I think it is fantastic. The processor ks extremely fast 1.2 gigahertz if I recall right and you can't go wrong with 3d although for a power user you'll get an extremist short battery life like 5 hrs the photon is great I kinda wish k could go To it now.because they have a new accessory for it that has a full size key board and a mouse the phone goes on a stand and.you have the option to plug the phone.into a tv. Then you.can use it as a full computer. The set up is only 135$ after tax in store. As for carrier you should go with Sprint. The unlimited data is with Sprint within extra fees. Now.I know there's the $10 fee but I say you pay for the hardware. 4g is great if its available in your area. T-mobi has to many problems with signal. Anyone I know at dorms can't get signal inside if they do its terrible. So i recommend going with Sprint and if your worried abluo battery then go with photon if not and don't care about the keyboard go with EVO 3D I hope this helps

Nitpicking.
I think the screen is fantastic.
if you are interested in modding your phone, you should also consider the community sizes of each phone.
bigger community = more development = more roms and kernels = more customization
photon has the least (so i wouldnt consider this)
evo 3d has a slightly bigger community than the sensation

Jumping ship soon..

.. to join team HTC Sensation XE!
I'm going to exchange my Samsung Galaxy Nexus this week with o2 due to the HUGE palava going on with the volume/rf interference issues.
I had an HTC Desire previously, so I get the feeling the Sensation is pretty much it's big brother?
Are there any issues I should be looking for upon receipt of the XE? Or were things such as dust under the screen sorted out for the updated handset?
Is it worth rooting the XE? If yes, why? What are the benefits?
In hindsight I wish i'd just got the XE, it was my first choice but the samsung launch won me over. I feel dirty
There is a lot of issues mentioned here on forum, battery, dust, and so on and so on...
But none of this happened on my XE! and battery is bigger, so just give it a try
I rooted it in first day, just because stock rom drains battery faster, on custom rom I having 2+ day's without charging.
And I love my XE
I had desire before too, you'll love your sensation
had dust under screen within 3 weeks of usage , phone was in soft gel case with a screen protector. Id defintly advise to check screen i looked at 3 before purchase and there was a massive difference in 2 of the 3 like night and day
Good luck on your purchase i would have liked to keep this phone becouse i bagged a great deal on it but i just couldent be bothered swapping again so just canceled contract. Im back on my htc desire and couldent be happyier ill be waiting for the next round of phones before looking again
wouldnt do it.
galaxy nexus = awesome screen.
and my backcover-unibody has issues so my screen is not in the unibody correctly..
seems u cant open the phone a few times, bcause of the unibody..
hey mate
i dont have any issues with my htc sensation . I've got it as a free upgarde from 3uk and doesnt have a single defect. It appears though that some people they do have , allthough this didnt stop me from getting my sensations and honestly i love it! except the battery life .... but then again my htc desire didnt have better ....lol
For me get the htc sensation nice looking ,speedy lots of custom ROMs.excellent build quality.
Good Luck with your choice
To be honest, Samsung's response to the volume issue on the nexus hasn't filled me with confidence.
It IS a beautiful phone but just feels to thin, and it's not too comfortable for my girly hands to hold.
I got the Sensation XE from O2
Not a problem with dust etc and the screen is excellent . I may upgrade in March to the Nexus when all the issues have been resolved , if they ever do !
To be honest though , its dual core running at 1.5 Ok could have come with more user available RAM but I have no slow downs etc .
If you get the O2 version can you dump the ROM fist as I have made mine fully stock now and would need the O2 version of the ROM if I ever needed to take it back.
Yep I know I'm a Numpty for not backing up in the first place
The nexus fix is software related and in on the way according to the "androidauthority" site, that goes for the European nexus ,u can have a look on the article if u like .I can't post any links because I am n00b here

I have my Sensation for almost 2 months and no dust, no touchscreen issue, nothing. Just wifi deathgrip, which is not a dealbreaker and rarely the screenshot capture bug (also not a dealbreaker); but I wouldn't exchange a Galaxy Nexus for a Sensation (only if you really like Sense), I would wait for the volume bug to be solved.
Already exchanged it, prefer sense as i've come from an HTC Desire. I'm not one to get my nerd on about cutting edge tech specs etc. Much happier now (and that's what matters, right? )
ICS is gonna rock on this phone!

It looks promising and would get ics but I'm not too sure how the adreno 220 would work on a 720p display. I would not recommend the galaxy nexus cause as far as I have heard that ti processor uses the old galaxy s g.p.u Fail. Wait, does 02 have that?

Really? Loud clamor about this volume issue (which is all relative because only a small number of people have this issue anyways) only started to come up a few days ago, and Google has already said that they are working on a fix. They addressed the issue and announced they are working on it literally only a few days after angry Galaxy Nexus owners took to the internet. How much faster do you want? Of course we don't know how long the fix will take, but at least they've already acknowledged the issue, and I'm assuming the fix will come very quickly as they will want to have it spotless before it hits the U.S.
To be honest, HTC's response to serving Sensation owners half-baked Sense software, low volume problems, dust issues, and death grip problems hasn't filled me with confidence at all, because they never did respond at all.
At the time I wrote that, Samsung UK had up until that point not even issued a statement of acknowledgement and been deleting posts from their Facebook page! The phone should never have been allowed to be sold in the state it was.
The fix seems to be a software solution to a seemingly hardware problem (long thread on the G Nex forum..). Is this just going to be masking the problem?
I also had a fault with the phone powering off when it was plugged into usb charging and had reached 100%.
The Sensation XE was the phone I originally had my eye on, before the Nexus was even launched. I was won over, but when I actually had the handset, the faults and the physical dimensions and FEEL of the phone just weren't things I was prepared to work with. The XE is more comfortable for me to hold, I was actually getting aches in my hand from the Nexus. Probably because being female, my hands are smaller than that of an adult male.
I had 14 days from purchase of the phone to swap for another, no questions asked. I had to make the decision this week as I personally don't have time later in the 14 days to return it.
So there we go, I don't see why I have to justify my actions but oh well. I've made the right decision for me. The Galaxy Nexus is a bloody fantastic phone but I just didn't get along with it.
Honestly, what's the point of having an awesome phone if you're not 100% happy with it?

Yeah I wouldn't do it either. The Galaxy Nexus's volume issue will be solved soon - and it's a better phone on paper. Funny, I love the Sensation (XE/XL) but I'd still suggest the Nexus over it.
Edit: Read OPs post about hand cramps and whatnot, I read the first post and assumed it was only the volume woes, but I see it now. Definitely go Sensation.

No issues with mine at all.

I do not like sense on it though. This "3D" scroll is nothibg but pissing me off. I wont root as I develop apps so stock is the way for me to go.
