anything else out there besides Pandora?
On my evo4g it always lags up and when I first start it, shows a "Loading" screen for a while..like all through the first song so I can't change stations, or like/dislike/skip a song for a while.
This is on gingerbread'd evo 4g, over WiFi.

I find slackers music library to be much deeper than Pandora. also the station cache feature is well worth the 5 dollars a month because it saves a ton of battery life, data usage, and makes stations accessible when signal is low.
jango is a good alternative.

+1 for slacker, the music quality seems better as well. If you pay $9 a month, you can create your own playlists from the songs you have selected that you like and listen to them anytime. Thats my fav feature. Oh and i like the UI much better.

Is anyone else experiencing "skipping" when playing music through Bluetooth? It's happening using Pandora and the stock music player.

I found that mine skipped when I had wifi on (and was not connected to an AP). Try turning wifi off.
Thanks. I'll give that a try.

That happens to me every once and a while even without Bluetooth. My theroy is that another CPU process is running (like sync) slowing the CPU down to a crawl. I am not sure why that happens with a 1Ghz but it also happens playing Modern Combat so I'm assuming thats why. Froyo should fix it.
I've been listening to music (stock samsung player) over bluetooth (Motorola S305) since a couple weeks now, no issues, no skipping with or without wifi.
mine seems to do it at the beginning of the songs within the first 30 seconnds to a minute of first listening. then it doesn't really do it too much(maybe once every few songs). I attribute it to all the widgets I run raping my phone day in and day out. poor little captivate... she takes it like a woman though.
Thanks for all of the replies. I tried turning wifi off and that worked for me.
Alright... So I am a little miffed that I can't watch Netflix on this brilliant phone. That said, I am now in heaven. While perusing facebook's OZ page, I noticed a thread indicating that the complete OZ series was available on the Droid via the app I tried it and after logging in with my Directv credentials I have access to an extensive library of movies, original series, documentaries, late night (lol), concerts... you name it!. I now have every season of OZ at my fingertips!!
The people that don't rate it well are upset because it's not yet made to work on their specific model phones. Works excellente on the Infuse though!
Of course you know I had to try the HDMI out as well. It works!!! The one drawback is that it appears to simply output the formatting as it appears on the Infuse screen. That transfers to a standard def experience on the big screen but it is perfectly viewable. That said, it looks great on the Infuse screen and streams perfectly over 4G.
Hooray for not letting go of unlimited data plans.

Great Find!!!! I don't have DTV but still sounds awesome!!! Now get a HDelight by Brite View and you would be leaning back on the couch doing this!
I just watched the first ever episode of The Wire from 2002 in bed with my headphones on. Excellent! One hour watching without being connected to a power source took me from 94% battery to 70%. Not bad at all.

does it need to run off of data or can it be ran off of WiFi so it'll be free instead of using your data?

My video streams are of very high quality. The quality is equivalent to the data speed and will adjust on the fly accordingly while watching a movie/show. Also, I plug in headphones.. the big ghetto ear covering type.. Sounds great.
I installed the HBO Go app last night and in the comfort of my bed watched "Green Zone" with Matt Damon using my home wifi, no issues, adjusted to signal fluctuations, pretty good movie too, has my Beats by Dre headphones on, crystal clear sound, this app is a A+ in my book.
I wish I had HBO.

What devices are people using that permits listening to music, etc.?
I have an older type that only works for calls.
I drive for three and a half hours twice a week and would like to listen to music and audio books and other mp3s.

For music the regular google music app works fine, though services like this one work well too -

Thanks for the tips.
I'm really interested in what bluetooth devices people are using with this phone. I need to get a better one as mine does not support music, just phone calls.

What are you guys using to listen to music? At one time, I had downloaded an unlimited version of Pandora. Now, the ads are killing me with the market version. What other services or solutions do you guys have to listening to music?

I loved slacker however it insists on running all the time and causes a pretty massive ammount of partial wakelocks. Cached content is an amazing feature though especially when you work out in the bush or out of service area.
Pin it to Win it.
So what do you think about Rdio
G2x
I was using slacker, but it was getting repetative like Pandora, not to mention expensive, soon many different tier's and in my opinion, too much forethought to personalize the stations..
I enjoy DJ mixes and a variety of mainstream music, right now I use
Fit Radio (great DJ mixes hip hop, electronic, and rock.. has volume level fluctuation and I haven't looked into it, randomly force closes)..
And TuneIn radio.. its like a free version of Sirius radio
My advice would be to pay the Buck for the pro version, says benefit is abuliry to record but I've noticed 2 or 3 times the amount of podcast and world stations. Also quality and connection seemed to improve as well.
All depends on the type of music, and how often you listen, and if you use headphones, Bluetooth or wired to audio Jack..
Soundza
being as I have a sub to XM Radio, I use their app for my music pleasures
Rockin the Unlimited Pandora v5.x.x.x
Unlimited padora 1.3 here w/ cm7 volume controls for music. Never noticed any adds?
Edit: I can upload it somewhere for you if you want it.
Edit,srry

Yeah, no glitches / issues for me as well! Runs smoothly..
If you want a change, you could try Musixmatch or rocket player..

its like from now, if I add music files, more specifically, .aac files, the time of the track has seemed to double, yet starts at the middle of that doubled time, so it plays normally. why am I looking for a new player is because it actually cuts the track at the end too early, and I want to actually listen to entire track.

I don't know about the doubling thing, but the end of the track being cut off is probably because of your crossfade / gapless settings which can be adjusted.
Personally, the only music app I ever used was Poweramp until I switched to Google Music All Access when I bought this phone. I haven't looked back.

what I meant was that it actually cuts off 2-5 seconds before the track ends. I've used the Poweramp forum to discuss my problems with little help.

Doubling of track time is a problem with the specific music file and not with PowerAmp..
Even I have faced this a few times but it was because of the bad file... I re-downloaded the file from a different source and everything was ok!
Seriously, there isn't any music app which I've found better than PowerAmp and I've been using it since ages!

You can try Shuttle+ found on the Play Store.
