Hi,
Ever since the 2.2 update (via Kies) a few months ago I consistently have these 3 problems:
1. Wifi connection gets corrupted: I cannot connect to my home wifi router. I can connect to other aps, by not able to connect to my home network. I used an app called fixr, which fixes this issue for a few days, then again the connection stops working. I even did a factory reset - same thing, wifi worked for a few days, and then unable to connect. Just says "obtaining IP address" multiple times and then "Error" in wifi settings. Even a reboot does NOT fix this!!
2. Unable to play Video files: After the phone is been on for 1 or 2 days, video stops playing. Get a "Unable to play this video. Try again later" for youtube videos, and "Unable to play this type of file" for videos downloaded from web. If I reboot the phone, the video works!! But it takes 10-15 minutes by the time the phone settles down after the reboot. So rebooting the phone every time I want to see a video is not an option. Anyway, about 12-24 hrs after the reboot - back to square one - unable to play video..
3. Unable to play google voice voice mails: This seems to be connected to the video situation. I notice that they go hand in hand. A reboot fixes this, but same issue as above.
Please help

Hey out there.
The other day I flashed AOKP JB Build 4 onto my Nexus S (i9023) and after about one day I got very annoying Wi-Fi issues.
The phone drops the connection every few minutes while the Wi-Fi icon stays blue.
I tried Matr1x kernel in the meanwhile which didn't fix the issue.
Yesterday I had enough of it and tried flashing Codename Android 3.6.6.
At first Wi-Fi was working quite good and I got all hope up but today I'm having the same problem again.
I was on Stock 4.1.1 before and I didn't have any issues like this.
Any help is very appreciated.

Did you try go into Wi-Fi settings and uncheck "avoid poor connections"? That helped me commentary somewhat, but my still disconnects from time to time..
Sent from my Nexus S

Both.
It's happening e.g. when I'm watching for a YouTube video. So I gotta disable and enable Wi-Fi to be able to continue watching the video.
But it's also happening when the phone is turned off so that e.g. I don't receive any emails in that time.

I got Wi-Fi Fixer working in the meanwhile and it's just reassociating and reconnecting every minute :/
I got my daughter her tab 7.7 about 6 months ago & had been going on perfectly. Android version is 3.2 & I have no easy measures to update for the time being.
For internet connection she uses only my WiFi secure connection. It was working fine all this time.
Today she can't log to her Facebook account via the Facebook app. I checked it out to find that I can log in via the browser but not the app. I thought it may need updating and tried Google play store but I was astonished to find it not working too as it gives me "No Connection. Try again".
I noticed that the WiFi mark is white & not showing the green strength marks, but connection is confirmed by the WiFi name. I was shocked when I tried the software update from "about" when it gave me the "no connection message" despite working WiFi connection. Samsung app is working perfectly & I can update its applications.
Also funny thing happened, when I tried the browser it kept giving me certificate errors many times.
I tried the VPN as I googled around but nothing changed. Same problem.
Switching off & on didn't help either.
Any Clues??
Thanks
Most strange thing happened.
Everything is back to normal without me doing anything.
I left the tab for a while while writing the previous post.
When I came back I found the app update mark showing up, I turned on the WiFi & touched the update icon, the strength signal showed in the WiFi & update started the goggle app. All went normally. Facebook app worked & even the browser certificate errors disappeared. The software update in the "about" worked fine & checked & found no updates.
What is going on...
Can anyone explain to me what's happening?
Thanks

Try Power Cycling your modem/router. That often corrects connection issues. Presume other devices were connecting just fine?
I have a moto g 8gb. It is rooted and i am using infusion custom rom (and have been for the past month). Yesterday, my wifi started being faulty. It works perfectly (though a bit slowly) for internet browsing on google chrome, and i can send hangouts fine. However, when i try to download or update an app from google play store, it doesnot download. It tells me it is downloading but after about 5min it says could not download. I also cannot connect to the internet in any games eg. candy crush and my instagram feed does not refresh. This occurs at home and work so i know it is not the wifi provider. Also, when i switch to 3g the apps begin downloading straight away.
I have tried rebooting my phone many times. I have tried lots of wifi fixer apps none of them help. My phone thinks it is connected but only chrome and hangouts works. I tried a factory reset then a TWRP restore to no avail. PLEASE HELP
Hello, This is my first thread in XDA DEVELOPERS.
My Nexus 5x's wifi is not connecting. 4 months ago, my phone boot looped . And I don't have any warranty. I tried every possible way to bring it back and failed. I factory reset then performed a rescue OTA Which was tough to do because the phone was boot looped. But I didn't give up. I contacted the Chinese Repairman(Mr. Huang Jinhui) via WeChat(the one Cathair2906 mentioned in his 4GB RAM upgrade article). I sent my phone to China. And the phone was fixed + the RAM also upgraded from 2GB to 4GB . He sent me a video in WeChat that my phone has been fixed and he mentioned that there is an account lock. In his video, The WIFI was connected to his network(not even any caution mark in wifi signal). I am very happy with that. But the Chinese man couldn't go to the home screen as the phone was reset(I performed a rescue OTA after the phone was bricked that's why). My email & password was needed. But in China, Google server is disabled so he can't bypass FRP even if I give him my email & password. While everything is available in Shenzhen, China, I told him to buy me a new battery of my phone and charger and cable. He changed the battery and send me a clip. Everything was fine. But when I got my phone in my hand and tried to go next, I couldn't connect it to any WiFi Network . It loads and then "Unable to connect" caution appeared. My phone is in Android 7.1.2 with June Security Patch Level. So after watching some youtube videos on how to bypass FRP lock, I followed some steps and went to settings menu via Talkback option. Checked the phone memory, it shows 3.6GB Ram, that's fine. Then went to wifi option and tried to connect but still failed. Tried WPS push button, didn't work :crying:. Then one of my friends told me that since the battery has been changed, the time and date has been reset & wifi won't be connected if there is a major difference in time. Then I was hopeful and relaxed that if I set the time and date correctly, the wifi will be connected.
I set the current time from settings and tried to connect it to my wifi network......................... Still, I failed . Turned it off and on then tried again.......... still, it doesn't connect. No "Authentication Error" message appears. In WIFI Settings menu it shows just "Saved" instead of "Connected"
It's not like that my phone can't search WIFI. Everything is okay, WIFI can be turned off & on. It can search WIFI Networks. All okay, just one problem, it is not connecting.
I can't bypass the FRP lock if I can't connect my phone to WIFI. I'm facing bad time after bad time. I am so near that I am finally gonna use my beloved Nexus 5X again still I cannot because of the new found problem "Not connecting to wifi".
If anyone can help me, I will be really very very grateful.
Thanks

Hey guys,
I just bought the S21+, overall great phone except couple of issue with Android Auto and Whatsapp.
I was able to fix the Android Auto issue (wouldn't connect, had to remove the latest Google Chrome updates) but the whatsapp issue is above my paygrade.
I scanned the QR code and everything works but as soon as the phone screen goes black, whatsapp is slow and disconnects often. Not completely disconnected as after I send a message perhaps 10/15 seconds later it gets set but still not responsive as before (S8+)
Any idea?

Hard to say.
Have you network/internet connection issues?
Are you connected via WiFi or mobile data?
You should check connection settings. Try if it makes a difference if you are connected via WiFi or mobile data.
And if you have installed an adblocker, try disabling. Just to be sure that this is not the culprit.
And I would check for system and app updates.
After you running stock Samsung firmware? Hopefully not disabled any system app.
And the issues with WhatsApp are in the Android app or using WhatsApp desktop on a PC?
EDIT:
Now I have seen the title with WhatsApp web.
Do you have the same issue with WhatsApp desktop app on PC?
The smartphone needs internet access, so if it's locked, it still should be connected to the internet. So you should check the (energy saving) settings that WhatsApp and internet access well not be set to standby when the phone is locked.
I think I have been able to resolve this issue for me. I have Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and due to WFH, it is connected over WiFi. Once the phone gets locked due to idle timeout, the Whatsapp Web would get disconnected on my Laptop.
Resolution:
I followed the following steps
Go to Settings -> Connections -> WiFi.
Click on Settings Icon for the Current Network that you are connected on.
Expand the Advanced menu.
Change option for Metered Network as "Treat as unmetered"
This should solve your Whatsapp Web Disconnect issue.

I have the same error and I still can't solve it
Same problem but above solution didn't work for me either
A bit late, but I was having the same problem and think I found a solution.
1. Go to Settings (In Android)
2. Apps.
3. Find Whats App.
4. Usage --> Battery.
5. Select Optimized or Unrestricted (Mine was set at "Restricted")
Hope that works!
