Pure stock gingerbread....no themes, no weird fonts, no extras. Just pure gingerbread running on the sensation. I would absolutely LOVE this. Am I the only one? I'm not familiar with CM7....is that pure gingerbread?
I too want just a pure stock one. NO FOOLIES!
me too would love it
+1, but I would also use CM

CM7 is basically stock but enhanced with new, improved features and settings. Like new lockscreens built into the ROM, profiles (so you can have a work and a home profile, for example, with different settings on each), a new kernel, better performance overall. For more info, go here.

Would love a pure AOSP rom with only a few additions like volumerocker music-controll and a optimised kernel.
When I still had my Nexus S i used Oxygen by Adam_G, fastest Rom i ever used.
I would like a GB ROM as well to have the option. But I'm runningthe non sense ROM and it combines a good mix of sense and stock gb. I still like sense because of the dialer and the magnifying copy and paste like on ios. But everythingelse on my phone is stock GB like the lockscreen, keyboard, and launcher . It's a good mix

That would be awesome, something nice and simple, and super.fast!

I would love a stock rom that had all the bloatware removed.
CM7 feels like a pure Gingerbread ROM, but with an extra option in settings that gives more power-user options. Different types of lockscreens (Gesture, rotary, normal), clock speed, force-move applications to sd card, volume enhancements, profiles, themes for status bar (and battery % inside the battery icon). There aren't many visual changes from ASOP (Unlike Sense or MIUI). (It's what I want to run)
I think there are some good features in sense 3 but still prefer stock gb. However if we could have gb with sense copy paste and modified sense lock screen it would be really nice. Ppl love the sense dialer but i seriously prefer stock dialer.

just a rom with OC/UV and voodoo audio/video and no bloatware is all we need... i can deal with sense 3.0 because thats what i've used on the sensation4g since day 1 (first android phone).

Would be great to have vanilla android for the Sensation. You can make it look like Sense, I just like AOSP better.
Give me barebones CM7 or give me death.

+1, but I would also use CM or MIUI ROM
Stock/Pure Gingerbread is overated.
Just because there are this and that you don't like about Sense doesn't make stock Gingerbread great. Once you start using stock Gingerbread you will start hating Google for not implementing this simple thing and that easy tweak, and you would want more.
If you don't like Sense, or are not satisfy with the speed with Sense, go get CM7 (when it is available on the Sensation) and don't bother with stock Gingerbread.
I would love ASOP Gingerbread cant wait til i get one of those roms =]
hell if i could just get better than 9-10 hours of use out of the damn phone with stock battery i would be happy... (yeah i send 200+ texts per day) plus surf alot
Guys as the subject, which rom do you waiting for ics (cm9, miui4,sense, virtuous) and tell us why?

thank's for ur respons guys
firstly i love the cm9
although the release still alpha, but its more smooth then other rom in development thread << its my opinion
cause i've flash my Desire S with cm9, virtuous team, miui4 port by proxuser and in superkid's thread hehehe
sorry for my bad english,
Personally I'm waiting for MIUI...I've stayed alot with Galnet MIUI and loved it. Now I have installed Virtuous beta (7) that's by far the speediest and lag free among the other ICS betas (at least for me). I've tried CM9 and I love the work CM is doing (had been using only CM ROMs till I got MIUI) but it has some issues for me: cannot download from market (just tried it few minutes ago) and the CM "control center" is missing...so the thing that was clearly make CM to stand out among others is unfortunately missing for now (I mean the multitude of tweaking possibilities)
Later edit: As i compared only current version of existing ICS ROMS, not thinking about future (as the question in this thread suggests). So in case every ROM will have a final version with everything included I'll have a very hard time to choose between MIUI and CM9...I'll test both and probably I'll stick with the one that has best performance and has the greatest tweaking capabilities.
All that said, I don't have enough words (and mouse clicks) to thank to every developer that contributed to have ICS on our phones. After trying ICS, going back to Gingerbread will never happen even with a non working camera. For those rare moments when I need a camera, I have a backup of both Endy 3.3 and Galnet MIUI ROMs that restores in 2 minutes...then, as soon as possible I switch back to ICS
CM9 because of the features it has which I have become very used to.
Totally waiting for MIUI 4. proxuser is already is porting it but most things still doesn't work.
Can't decide yet =) CM9 might be the first preference, but absolutely gonna try some others also. Just because CM has been great, it does not mean that no other ROMs are worth trying.

+1 for MIUI 4 ^^
Currently using Virtous Beta 7 and it's amazing, just waiting for camera to work
Virtuous Quattro. The developers of that rom always do a great job on their roms. I've used Virtuous Unity a couple months ago and it was one of the best roms and probably still is.
At the moment, Virtuous Quarto is running marvelously as my daily driver. And because of the fast updates, I don't have time to test the rest. But coming from both Virtuous Unity and CM7, I'll make sure to test CM9 as well, and maybe even MIUI.

ICS seems to be a little slower then GB, so ICS+Sense should feel really slugish.
MIUI -
Virtous Quattro - feels nice even now and has some nifty options, so i'll try it again once it's done.
CM9 - most likely it will be the one. I'm with CyanogenMod since very early CM6 builds and always happy. A lot of devs working on it, daily (nightly ) updates, lots of options, great performance and stability.

NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...
Sent from my HTC One S
The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!
Thanks

I find stable android 4.2 to my htc one x+. At first - I install rom from maxwell. AOSP 4.2 - 0.1b. Great rom, but battery is ill. Wi-fi is off, mobile data is on, gps and I.t.c. is off. Screen is off all day. From 6am to 9pm -from 100% I have 7%. CM10.1 is better for it, but it have unworkable tourch and I can't use all my widgets in lockscreen(I can't fond it). I want senseless rom. Please help
I know my answer isnt what youre looking for exactly but what ive done to my phone is flash ARHD rom then i installed Nova launcher ( you can use any othet launcher that you like) and then through titanium backup uninstalled sense from the phone. Maybe this will be a good substitute for you.

The new HTC one/m7 will have the new sense 5.0 and sense 5.0 will be lighter. So for it being lighter adds about 30% of chance of there being a sense 5.0 Rom for HTC desire s. What other info is there about sense 5.0 rom for HTC desire s?

Officially by htc? I highly doubt it as the last update for our phone was the R&D ICS Rom.
Via port? May or may not come, depending if resizing will be achieved, among other things.
Dont get your hopes up for this one.

I don't think so that HTC will release to Desire S. Looks like they dropped support for this phone. Sadly... :/
on desire hd, sensation and incredible s porting sense 5, come on someone port sense 5 skin etc for desire s
Officially : Never!
Cocked ROM : Maybe, but we'd have to wait so so long ... AFAIK, we recently had some sense 4.1 ROMs but no full sense 4+/4.5 ROMs yet ... so by the time we get sense 5 ROM (if ever, one or two years), the DS would be antique and most of us might be using newer phones.
Officially, no chance.
Port? Not so sure. Will take a long time I suspect, and there are hardly any devs left working on this device, no most unlikely you wont see Sense 5 on this device.

Sense 5.0
I hope we get it cause there lots of sense things that make sense. Lol
On a serious note many new phones are quad core will the desire s 1ghz and adrenal 205 have the necessary processing power to run sense 5 smoothly. Are there any new sense 5 phones with similar specs to the DS?
i dont think so
The new sense will come with the new phone for me .. i dont think we got chance for sense 5 guys
So is it possible? Can someone port it??
Desire S hardly runs full sense 4 , it wont stand a chance on sense 5,
And where did sense 4.5 go?
Sent from my HTC Desire XS using xda app-developers app
i think thantos2024 said he might try doing a sense5 port...
hmm, dont forget this device came with Android 2.3 and Sense 2.1 now we're with Android 4.1 and Sense 5. Is it worth it?
Technically a port is possible, but difficult. (ea different processor architecture, screen resolution = resizing and more... who knows what they could've hidden more)
Plus there should be enough dev motivation. sorry but i prefer building from source now

On the no offence side Fallout has only some full Sense stuff as lockscreen, recent apps, etc ported in. But it is and always will remain lite Sense not full. Full Sense lags very ugly on our device so razi pointed this right

Truth be told I think that porting Sense 5.0 is like fitting Ferrari's 4,5 litre V8 into Fiat 500. It just won't work. I mean I would like that but the performance would be terrible. I really like my DS especially beacaouse I bought it recently but I don't think that Sense 5.0 will make it to our phone any possible way. Honestly I'm really glad that there are people like Flinny in here that are porting lightweight AOSP or Cyanogen to DS becaouse it's one of the best single core devices for the money out there. It's still much more powerful and better designed than for exampe new Desire C. We have 768 mb of ram and Qualcomm MSM8255 that can easily get it to 1,5Ghz (that is this CPU native clocking on Flyer) or even further but Full Sense 4/5 need more power. I guess dualcore with newer architecture at least. Still if someone would take this challenge I would be happy to test

I dont think installing more apps make the phone 'lag' as the smoothness whether scrolling or playing game is dependent on the 'ram' availability. so what influence the ram availability is what is running at the background, and these app that are taking up the ram availability is the apps that we open ourselves and fail to exit it properly, causing it to be hanging in the background.
So a 'rom' itself doesn't lag after a week/month of using, it lags because users fail to exit them, that's why a reboot helps as it kills them. Get a task killer, hide system apps and only shows your games/browser because those will eat those rams the most.
