[Q] Internet Call in android 2.3 for S5670 - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi Experts,
There was one difference in 2.2 and 2.3 that internet call will be available in android 2.3.3 but this FW for 5670, internet call is not included.
Can anybody tell me other solution or i am planning to switch to HTC wildfire just because of this. [] .
Thanks in andvance.

2.3 includes Voip over SIP accounts. If your ROM does not have that feature, you could install another ROM (cyanogen?) for your device.
Alternatively:
- GrooveIP uses Google Voice to do Voip in US and Canada
- Skype, Google Talk (hacked), and others allow voice and video calling within the service for free and charge for calling out.
I hope that helps. Keep in mind, call quality is dependent on your data/wifi signal and how much time you take tweaking the audio.

Cyanogen Not yet available for s5670 yet. And No custom rom also...
So u better follow Tubes6al4v's Alternatives. That is the only option i think.

Skype and Froyo on 3 mobile

Hi does anyone have a solution to make Skype work on Froyo 2.2 especially on 3 mobile?
YES!!! I've just discovered it.
Firstly, I assume you're using a "3" mobile in the UK, on Android 2.1 and you have it working. People don't seem to be having any problems with Skype on 3 and Android 2.1
Now, go to the Android Market and search for a program called "My Backup" by Rerware LLC. There is a free 30 day trial.
Once it's download and installed, skip past the register for online storage part (if you want) and choose the "Backup", then "Applications" option. Choose to put it on your storage card and choose APK+data. You may get an error saying it can't find market data. Don't worry.
Now, just update your phone to Android 2.2 Froyo, install "My Backup" again and choose the "Restore" option.
For some reason this restored version works perfectly on Froyo. I can only assume some required certificate gets copied over too.
The above was done on a rooted 3-branded Desire running 2.1. I'm now running Froyo with Skype.
SKYPE-FROYO official update on 3 Mobile:
Hey Guys
we could also simply go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=388449&d=1282819614
download the updated three mobile file APK file which runs perfectly on Android Froyo, Release Number:
3UKSkype_0.10.0.15_hutch_live
and that works fine straight out of the box to, just released this morning by Three mobile and all official and like
Kind Regards Ashe
strange, I installed skype on 3 ... but it only runs on mobile data connection ... the WiFi must be off in order to run it ...
P.S. yes, I read that this is only a mobile data app ... sorry for the question
RE: 3 Mobile, Skype, Froyo Update:
Hi There,
Don't worry common question, 3 Mobile was one of the few networks to support Skype across most of it handsets, however in order to do this they had to reach a few compromises.
The truth is although we now have quite a lot of very powerful smart phone, there are still a lot of lower end handsets that are no where near powerful enough to run a full Skype installation, to circumvent this problem and to allow Skype to be used on virtually any handset, 3 Mobile uses a Skype branded version of iSkoot software, which does not use the mobile data or wifi.
When a skype call is initiated it simply dial a normal UK based GSM access number which is totally free on to all three customers which then connects you to the Skype client you are calling. Because this is GSM the Call quality is also very stable and almost guaranteed, as there is more GSM coverage than 3G.
This is a very good solution, and allows you to have Skype calls where ordinarily you would not. On my old Nokia E72, I had both the 3 Mobile client and the official Skype Client running, and used each appropriately, as required, which was a fantastic solution but unfortunately there is not official Skype client for Android, yet, but one is slated for release in October of this year, (crossed fingers), if this is the case then we will all have the Mobile phone Nirvana that is having the flexibility of having both clients on you handset at once.
Having the official client saved my bacon in Nairobi Airport, when we got stranded there because of the volcano, I closed down the 3 client and used the Official Symbian client through the airports WiFi network which worked really well and even allowed me to use my London based 020 Skype in number, carried on business as if nothing had happened.
So yes it has a few limitations but to reliably be able to call Skype contacts have skype chats and make cheap international calls using your Skype Credit far out-weys any of these.
I hope this has served to give you a brief explanation about the hows and whys of the 3 Mobile Skype service. Have a great bank holiday weekend.
Kind Regards and Best Wishes - Ashe Medforth.

so does this fix work???? on 2.2
The 0.15 application works on Froyo 2.2
Hi you don't need this fix now as I explained previously just download the new 0.15 application and it works straight out of the box on Froyo, now need to do anything.
Hope this finally clears this up,
Kind Regards - Ashe.

Finally! Was gutted when skype stopped working.
Thanks for the link
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Is there anyway to get this working on a non "3" net work
I don't think so because 3UK is the only network who allows you to use Skype over data connection, besides O2, I heard that they have Skype as well....

Leaked Gingerbread SIP Calling Missing/removed by Tmobile

Today as I was getting ready to put my SIP calling settings in my phone so that I can use the built in SIP calling function of gingerbread (I loved using this feature on my Nexus S) and I noticed it is not there. It seems that Tmobile has either removed the feature or locked it. Does anyone know if there is a way to unlock/add the sip calling feature? And yes I know there are apps that do this, but I prefer to use the system integrated SIP calling function.
do any of the roms have the native sip calling features of gingerbread?

Is It True Android 2.3+ Cannot Answer Calls via API Anymore?

Hey all, I am inquiring about some changes I read about recently. I am an avid user of call blocking apps such as Gblocker and Afirewall. I heard that with Android 2.3, these apps no longer have the ability to answer phone calls via the API.
I am wondering if this is true for one, and also if there might be a way to make a rooted app which does have the ability to answer/hangup a phone call like it used to be pre Android 2.3.
Thanks!

Need ROM Suggestion

Hi All,
I've been going to xda developers for quite a while and have been playing around with various ROMs (such as Liquid Smooth, Eclipse, and MIUI) but I haven't found one that has everything I want.
Basically I would like the following features on a ROM and was wondering if anybody knew a ROM that had all these features:
1. Call recording.
2. Battery saving when screen is turned off (4G LTE will be disabled, uses single core and underclocked,
3. Showing of the location of unknown phone numbers that are calling me based on area code such as showing Atlanta, GA when area code is 404.
4. Visual voicemail.
5. Contacts should be able to sync Facebook, Google+/Gmail, Skype, AIM, MSN.
6. Facial unlock.
7. AOSP & Jelly Bean based.
8. The following must work flawlessly: Voice calls, 4G data, Wifi, & Bluetooth
9. The ability to share multiple pictures at one time on facebook.
10. These apps must work: Gmail, Play Store, Facebook, YouTube
I think there is probably already a ROM out there with all these features but I just haven't found it yet. If you know which one has these features, please kindly give me your suggestion.
Thanks!

Well, at the very least it would be nice to have an AOSP ROM that can do call recording.

Have a look at the one PureMotive has going if you haven't already.. its pretty smooth thus far and has alot or most of the features your looking for.
Some of the voice recording apps on the store are perfectly capable of recording full conversations as well as other things. That's not something I do, but I've seen people confirm it here. Apps can sometimes add that feature you need.

If you're referring to the most recent Galaxy Mod one where it's Sprint based, I've tried it but the call recording wasn't there and the radio was really bad (I was getting 2 bars instead for 4 or 5 that I usually get).
Thanks for your reply anyway though!

JB ROMs dont currently have a working call record option (as far as I have read, they dont play nice yet), so as guthrien said your probably best looking at an app for that. And a little birdy told me that PM is working on and should be releasing a Verizon based rom soon.
